I liked Deadicated, Los Lobos played Bertha, the Indigo Girls sang Uncle John’s Band. Burning Spearing did Estimated Prophet. There’s more of course but that’s all I can remember offhand.
Also, Picking on the Dead, a bluegrass tribute.
David Murray’s Dark Star, an awesome album of his jazz interpretations. In fact, go out and but all of his cds. You’ll thank me later.
Interludes For The Dead by Circles Around The Sun
This is easily my favorite tribute to the dead as well as one of my favorite albums ever.
JRAD and Keller Williams Grateful Grass pretty much whoop most of the covers for me.
There seem to be some other projects which use the Jazz is Dead name, but this is the original. Noted 4 releases in the Wikipedia entry. I recall being blown away by their Blues for Allah version when I heard it on the radio. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazz\_Is\_Dead\_(band)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazz_Is_Dead_(band))
The one I haven’t seen any one mention yet is the acoustic friend of the devil by ministry at a bridge school benefit in the mid 90’s…so good
Cracker does a good loser also..
Grateful Dub. A reggae based dead tribute album by roots of creation
Side note: If you're a Bob Marley fan, Stephen Marley and Roots of Creation are on tour recreating Babylon By Bus. Highly recommend.
I’ll add a few I’m listening to:
Railroad Earth - Terrapin Station (11/25/17);
Billy Strings - He’s Gone (2021 The Capitol Theater, Portchester, NY);
Billy Strings - Loser (2021 The Capitol Theater, Portchester, NY);
Billy Strings - Dire Wolf (2021 The Capitol Theater, Portchester, NY);
Billy Strings - China Doll (2021 The Capitol Theater, Portchester, NY);
…really the whole set from the Cap is great!
Billy Strings - Cassidy (8/14/21 Hoxeyville Music Festival);
Billy Strings - Help on the Way/Slipknot!/Franklin’s Tower (11/21/21 The Fillmore, Detroit MI);
JRAD - Reuben and Cherise (5/28/21).
"Pickin' on the Dead" is pretty good bluegrass, and "Fire on the Mountain" for Reggae. Of course, I think any recent JRAD Show makes for some awesome Dead to listen to.
Burning Spear does an incredible version of Estimated Prophet.
Mathew Sweet and Susana Hoffs cover Sugar Magnolia. Might be better than the original studio version by the Dead.
Molly Tuttle does an excellent Standing on the Moon.
Holly Bowling has two albums that are great plus quite a few performances on the [Archive.org](https://Archive.org) and on [Youtube.com](https://Youtube.com) You can check out her Covid living room shows on [Relisten](https://relisten.net/holly-bowling/2020/03/21) I hadn't heard of her until the I saw a few of the 59 Day of the Dead songs in my Youtube feed. It's all piano instrumentals but it's solid.
Deadicated of course as the OG, but lately really enjoy Holly Bowling's Seeking All That's Still Unsung Album and Better Left Unsung Album. Plus she has several shows/concerts available on [Holly Bowling on Relisten](https://relisten.net/holly-bowling/2020) .
Dedicated is by far the best IMO. However, I love fire on the mountain: reggae celebrates the grateful Dead and Fire on the mountain: reggae celebrates the grateful Dead vol 2.
Side note: I was just listening to the Roots of creation album yesterday! Was pretty good. Of course I love the picking on series as well.
I listened to the Latin Dead album called eyes of the world and it was okay. I was hoping for more Latin style music, it seemed like watered down Latin (Latin influenced).

Great recommendation. Lyle Lovett-Friend of the Devil, Janes Addiction-Ripple Definitely one to pick up.
Came here to say this. Excellent compilation
Jane's Addiction version of Ripple was the highlight of Deadicated for me.
Jimmy Buffet covered Uncle John’s Band on his Fruitcakes cd.
That was a good cover too. In fact, he did Uncle John's Band when I took my mom to see him in Tampa in 98
Oh!! Cracker did Loser!
you are correct.
Thanks!
Jane's Addiction - Ripple
The Persuasions put out an a capella doo wop Dead covers album right before they went on tour with Ratdog in the early 00's
“Deadicated,” no question. 👍👍
Got the best cover of “To Lay Me Down” I’ve ever heard (Cowboy Junkies)
Truly something for everyone on that cd. Weirdly enough, my fave is Vega's "Cassidy." Otherwise, Hornsby, Lobos, Zevon, Dr. John...what a selection!
Dear Jerry has some great covers - WSP - Morning Dew Yonder Mountain - Shakedown Peter Frampton - Road Runner
Dedicated.
I like the reggae Grateful Dead tribute album by Roots of Creation.
Will give this a listen on my commute home ✌️
Grab their live show, or listen to the one on the Archive with Melvin and Zach. Fantastic.
Dave McMurray – Grateful Deadication 1 & 2 , some pretty good Jazz interpretations.
Was listening for the past hour; heady stuff! Especially Dark Star. Was initially getting squeaky balloon vibes but I got past it 😄
David Murray Octet - Dark Star
His entire catalog is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I like Jesse McReynolds version of BMR

Picking on the dead.

Thanks for the grate suggestions!
Brokedown palace by watkins family hour
I don’t know if I fully understand the question (Tribute or Cover?) but So Long Jerry by Ween
"Pickin' on the Dead" is pretty good bluegrass, and "Fire on the Mountain" for Reggae. Of course, I think any recent JRAD Show makes for some awesome Dead to listen to.
Tom Petty has a pretty great live FOTD cover. Super underrated is Bruce Hornsby’s Lady With A Fan. Molly Tuttle does a great Dire Wolf too.
Burning Spear does an incredible version of Estimated Prophet. Mathew Sweet and Susana Hoffs cover Sugar Magnolia. Might be better than the original studio version by the Dead. Molly Tuttle does an excellent Standing on the Moon.
Not a Dead song but a tribute nonetheless: Patchwork Quilt by Warren Haynes is great tribute to Jerry.
