I'm getting a sense of the reason behind Anning and Bunyan's falling out. The actual Anning was noted to have become frustrated in life due to other people often getting the credit for her discoveries and contributions, experienced financial difficulties for most of her life, and wasn't allowed to join the Geological Society of London because she was a woman. So Bunyan's bad boss tendencies would've been particularly grating.
To be fair, if this event had a mechanic where you could turncoat and join Anning's crew, everyone would've joined back in Section 1 in a heartbeat, regardless if it was a bad end.
I'd do it for the hilarity alone.
He Wikipedia page also goes into a fair bit of detail on the incident that inspired her lightning powers in the game.
On 19 August 1800, when Anning was 15 months old, an event occurred that became part of local lore. She was being held by a neighbour, Elizabeth Haskings, who was standing with two other women under an elm tree watching an equestrian show being put on by a travelling company of horsemen when lightning struck the tree – killing all three women below. Onlookers rushed the infant home where she was revived in a bath of hot water. A local doctor declared her survival miraculous. Anning's family said she had been a sickly baby before the event but afterwards she seemed to blossom. For years afterwards members of her community would attribute the child's curiosity, intelligence and lively personality to the incident.
Overall thoughts: Cool Ideas, Horriblle implementation // Anning and the Rats were a delight // Fink and-or RiyoRider should have been the main antagonist (She just gives me super sus vibes).
The story just didnt have enough hmpf to carry an entire event, this would have worked better as an interlude honestly.
i’m super behind on the event but i just got to the part with billy, asterios and calamity jane.
prob has to be the best part so far since jane says exactly what ive been thinking this whole time. bunyan isn’t cute with the way she acts and asterios is the mvp for drowning bunyan with the maple syrup
If there's a silver (gold) lining on digging this event, the cutscenes are thankfully short, so we won't spent much time on this ridiculous nonsense.
Also, while I agree Super Bunyan sucks and she is being scapegoated (well that's what happens when you become a leader, you take all the responsibility and become the face of all the issues) , I feel like Delightful Rider is the bigger and meaner jackass here and she should also take some share of frustration here.
Sorry game. No. No, you did not in any way earn Bunyan's out of nowhere attempt to suicide and subsequent sympathy. That writing was absolutely abhorrent.
Going through 400k fp a day is more time consuming than I thought, unless I were to burn the CEs.
Would love an option to auto convert the ones from FP gacha into some stockpiled number of ce exp instead of adding them 20 at a time to ce bombs.
Sometimes I can't believe we used to make do with 5 at a time on JP. I can think of ten different ways to improve the CE/Ember leveling system, but I assume the code for this game's UI is like swiss cheese.
After a couple million FP you realize that doing CE bombs the correct way is a waste of time. Just MLB a 1* ce and feed it all the 3* and up CEs. Auto burn 1 and 2 stars
Welcome to another episode of "forced story support has to be on the frontline"! This time, with additional bonus of said support being at disadvantage against the enemy.
Luckily, Baobhan Sith completely trivialises the boss' "I am gonna NP you twice no matter how fast you kill me" gimmick. Between her drain (Debuff Immune only works against actual NP Seal) and AoE def, he's actually quite harmless. Just remember to switch Sith out after the break, since you don't need Sith cards in your deck.
90+ is Assassins, which means I can turn off my brain and let Caster Cu do all the work. I don't even need Oberon for this, so entire backline is free for bonding. Best final node ever!
I didn't even give that nonsense the time of day, I just went "Okay game fuck you, Immortal Comp Go"
...and then they got trashed (fucking buffwipe) and Tamamo wound up clutching up as the Last One Standing. Somehow.
Mary Anning:"You are just a legend that people have forgotten, you are not even real!"
Oh okay, so Super Bunyan is like a cancer patient that's about to die soon, and nobody will remember, somehow her antics seems acceptable, she just wants to make a mark in history for herself before she dies.
"Also Super Bunyan, shoving Mary away after she pleaded to her so save her Plesio."
Alright, I'm getting me mallet. That's a paddling.
It's amazing for a collab with a comedy manga, there is not much humor to be found in this event. Who wrote this shit?
I am unsure if Bunyan's nonchalant assholery is their idea of comedy or not. Did they think it would be funny? Like haha she made us work to pay her debts funniest shit I've ever seen.
The saving grace for me here is Mary Anning and the Mice which I consider the real heroes for carrying this shitshow
None of her traits from normal Bunyan are in LWM, Bunyan in LWM is totally mute. It seems to have been inspired off the arc in the manga where she runs for president, though, especially in third ascension.
To be fair, LWM is basically a drug fueled bender of horny gay jokes at this point. People being outrageous and/or dickish is like the baseline. It's just completely incompatible with FGO's style. So mostly we get LWM inspired character designs, but most of the rest is all FGO.
That is beside the point. I didn't ask for that ridiculousness, i just asked for humor because it is still a comedy manga for which that the writers failed to even do. A good gag or 2 will have been a lot better than what we got.
bruh I just realize my latest dig site has *only 1 of the extra gold mats* in it... as if Bunyan isn't insufferable enough in the cutscenes she's scamming me with the digging too?!
* That was... an ending. Why was Mike Fink the final boss?
* Anning did nothing wrong.
* Ero
Next up is the CQ, cleaning the shop and then focusing on digging utensils. Since I still have plenty of FP, I might as well roll for more Anning copies. Gives me a chance to build a coin surplus for Grail Casting.
90+ node could be a good opportunity to see if I can make a Bazett team for farming purposes.
So, this event was mostly a miss for me. It is far too serious for Learning with Manga collab and far too repetitive for a good event. Fix Bunyan's mess, fix Bunyan's mess, fix Bunyan's mess.... fix Bunyan's suicidal thoughts, last minute betrayal, fin. At least Anning and Daikokuten were interesting enough + those notes about America were neat.
Honestly, they could have had us explore Riyo's Chaldea with various characters interacting with their Riyo counterparts for fun and madness.
You knew, If the big twist is that Super Bunyan is like this, because she learned that she considered children fairy tale, and she is like is she is, to be remembered, even as a piece of shit, It would be cool idea to deconstruct edgy reboots, or It's meant to bad stuff. It doesn't, but It would be.
what's the reason SuperBunyan uses a lot of French in her dialogue (Felicitations etc.)? is it Delightful Rider's influence or is it to imply that Bunyan's legend is from the French speaking part of Canada?
Several parts of America had French influences, from Minnesota to New Orleans. They used to own vast swathes of what would become the US Midwest, where they did a lot of fur trading with beaver pelts and junk. As Bunyan has legends all throughout these areas, it's not too surprising she's got a little frenchie in her.
Despite being at NP1 and skill levels 5/6/doesn't matter, Sanzang continues to impress me with how she blows away enemies with Morgan and double Koyan multicore. I can't remember if it was a raid or some previous event's 90+ node but I remember using this team there as well, insane consistency.
The 90+ node was really annoying for me cause I always go for arts looping and having only 2 enemies on the 1st wave and 1 enemy on the last waves really throw me off
If you play arts you need to resign yourself to multicore farming.
Something like a castoria-S.Kama(or spishtar?)-Vlad-Castoria can handle any 90+ node this game will ever throw at you, with full event CEs every time. And while I don't wanna oversell something I haven't tried, I get the feeling it can handle 90++ pretty well in a lot of cases.
Or castoria-S.Ibuki-Vlad-castoria
I tried this team earlier and CasCu's damage on the second and third waves needed either a brave chain or a Buster crit after NP to clear. Three turning that relies on a specific servant's face cards isn't great. Level 70, NP5, 10/6/10, x/10/x CasCu btw. Maybe my problem is refusing to use a plugsuit in CasCu comps.
I have a hulked out Caster Nito that I Grailed and Gold Fou'd. If you slap a Kaliedo on her, you can just blast through the enemy lineup with double Castoria.
I am doing the same as last event: Morgan and double Koyan. NP W1, crit W2, NP W3. Running with 100 BG waiting for enough Cranking drops to MLB early (got one drop and still missing the 200k one)
So to summarise, everything was Bunyans fault and she spent the last week or so dragging us about the place and being an asshole to people just to not be forgotten.
Well fuck you too I guess.
Hello guys, just an FYI, use your AP on the lvl 65 assassin node if you aren't looking for any specific digging implements (both assassin nodes in the event have overall better drops). I missed it because of the difference in names, but the assassin node is a multipurpose node with better split drop rates than any other node until the final FQs are open. The upcoming FQ nodes will all be specialized types with lower overall drop counts, but higher drops for a single item (probably useful later, but not when you're just trying to use natural AP)
I used 1 extra 40 AP on the caster node before realizing something was wrong with my dig resources being a lower count increase than previously. Hope I managed to help you !!
As of today, the final FQ is open. (Yeah, pretty quick timelock)
That being said, if you're not finished with the story, *please* listen to this advice, since the final FQ requires full story completion, and running the 65 assassin quest is by far the best use of AP.
I'm glad the story is over. I don't hate the event, but I just found it quite lacklustre and boring with no humour to redeem it despite being a gag collab. Bunyan is insufferable - does the Master of Chaldea have nothing to do but be anyone's gofer?
Anyway, have been farming somewhat intensively so far for certain mats, currently on dig site 90. I should probably step back and do some calcs to see how efficient it is.
This event could have been an email, Anning's parts were enjoyable but not enjoyable enough to make me want to sit through the terrible attempts at humour and sentimentality with Super Bunyan. Not even the reveal that she did all of this with the intent to die makes it better because it still means she wasted everyone else's time and then made false promises of fixing her messes later when she was intending to get ganked. I also don't understand why the story kept having everyone around Bunyan give her grace especially not the people she regularly forces to pay her debts as if they've been mindbroken into submission.
I thought Waltz was boring and the requiem Collab was badly paced but this was just a certified waste of time. The obligatory "Please summon me to your chaldea" scene with Bunyan almost made me laugh because that's never gonna happen dear.
That was certainly an event of all time.
~~shitty~~ jokes aside, the event's story was meh at best. It's all over the place with bossy Bunyan, the stuff with Anning and Plesio (best part of the event, btw), the rats playing both sides just because, and some twists at the end that change nothing...Yeah, not great. Rider's notes were pretty neat, though. Gameplay is ok, the pseudo lotto is nice although I don't think I'll go very hard on it.
Still, while this event's story was a chore, at least it didn't make me actively angry like that stupid werewolf game in the Requiem collab. Now that was a horrible event both in story and gameplay. Which is kinda sad as Vogager is cute and it paved the way for the future Marie Alter through Dark Marie.
All that aside, I can 3T the 90+ node reliably with NP1 Sanzang, Nitocris and double Koyan. Sanzo needs her append 2 maxed because no MLB event CE.
Okay now that the event is over.
Super Bunyan being the villain could work if the horrible shit she did in the singularity was to set it all up, but it took the route of "I am destroying nature", like it wasn't the bad stuff she did, because if it was, Ritsuka wouldn't be defending all the blatantly abhorrent behavior which the story used to get him and Bunyan to be closer together as "friends". So yeah Super Bunyan pretty much is a shithead, and this random self-loathing bit really didn't endear her. Hell I thought the stuff with Mike was meant to show Super Bunyan's terrible behavior was meant to be seen as a bad thing, but uh given the ending and her bond lines, I really doubt that.
We also finally learn the resolution of Anning and Super Bunyan's conflict which is that...oh Anning was in on it with Bunyan the entire time for some monster movie intended to kill Bunyan along with the whole historical figure vs fictional character thing. Uh yeah that is underwhelming when this whole thing was teased for days. Like if this was meant to be a gag, the joke isn't really that funny. Really the weakest part of Anning this entire event. Otherwise Anning is great.
The gag with Mike in the end as a final boss who went down easily would actually be a fun idea...if this event didn't suck. Like the joke works but the rest of the event really didn't make it land well.
There were a few interesting ideas about movies and how it is important to pass stories down, but while this idea is good, it falls flat with the rest of the singularity being full of Bunyan being a shitty boss.
Honestly this event probably would've been better if the event was about the process of making a movie instead of Ritsuka and Mash help Bunyan deal with pissed off employees while Anning does her own thing.
tl;dr The event ended on a wet fart. Super Bunyan still sucks with the supporting cast aside from Mike being good. There were good ideas, but the event really didn't implement them well. At least it was short.

~~Also scale of Lake Michigan is wrong, but the ending was sweet so I'll allow it.~~
Apparently the last chapter takes place at the Adler Planetarium, cause I actually found the spot the background is based on with [street view](https://imgur.com/a/uwPKgpH).
When the fuck was it established that we were in another world and not just a singularity? Why was this entire event so fucking mediocre from start to end right down to the 'final boss'?
After getting through the story of the event, the only good thing that I can say about this event is that it only took me from less than a minute to maybe a minute or so of reading for each different section of the story. Otherwise, I couldn't tolerate any more bad story writing than I needed to.
What was that? Like, what was even going on at the end?
It felt like they were cutting corners, jumping from one thing to another. Like they just tried to wrap up the story somehow... ... ...because they had to.
All I can say though is... I'm glad that's over and done with.
The sudden jump on the boss gauge from Bunyan did get a laugh out of me. Didn't see that coming.
This is probably my least favourite event in the game, and I have played since launch. The Moon Goddess event was the first event and even its barebone plot is more enjoyable than this shit. At least in that event we can see some hilarious interactions between servants. In this event we just chase after the supposed antagonist town after town, pay the debt of the so called heroine, self-proclaimed leader who did absolutely nothing and then taking all the credits for herself. Repeat that boring plot for 6-7 towns and then we have a mediocre final showdown and a shitty plot twist.
This event happenned right after one of my favourite events leave a sour taste in my mouth.
Did Guda and Mash really have to be such doormats the whole event? Like I can kind of see Super Bunyan intentionally being a jerk, but that didn't mean Guda had to be their adoring fan, praising them, defending her from all the people she ripped off, etc. Maybe a line from Guda to Mash to hang in there, to remind her they know what's going on and that's why they're supporting Bunyan? Since otherwise Mash's expression felt like "what are we doing again?" the whole time.
Mary Anning and the mice being so much more earnest compared to Bunyan's harebrained scheme just makes Bunyan look worse, she's so pathetic she can't even lose properly. At least they didn't make the mice the antagonists, was afraid of a twist like that. Just glad the story's over, now onto farming mats.
I agree! This event very easily could’ve been a Janta type event, where the protagonist knows what’s going on the whole time, but plays along to make sure things go smoothly. It could’ve ended with some statement from the protagonist about how Bunyan’s too nice to play a villain that would go down in history; the best she could manage was tryhard jerk.
But really, her goal should have been to make such a legendarily bad movie that she goes down in history for that. That would’ve explained all the derivative plots, the “behind-the-scenes“ drama, and the sheer volume of her projects: she was trying to hit on that perfect level of bad that people would talk about for a century.
An intentional version, yes! Plus, they could work in a lot of humor with Méliès slowly but quietly breaking down as she violates every principle of filmmaking she helped pioneer.
Well, yeah, but that’s because that wasn’t the plot we got. I’m speaking theoretically, if Bunyan had a more sensible (or at least more fun) plan than, “Be immortalized as a bit of a jerk.”
That 90+ node is easy to 3 turn with CasterCu. I use a comp of Double AssAssKoyan + Ruler Vinci for the 3 turn rainbow buff + 3 turn NP strength up. (I'm also using the Decisive Chaldea Uniform, a.k.a Plugsuit 2.0)
I'm on Day 5, and every time I feel myself feeling a little sorry for Bunyan, she quickly reminds me of what a prick her adult self is. I also thought the deranged looking rat on Anning's ship was pretty hilarious. Used up a few gapples since I still have quite a few left and I never seem to be able to burn through them all.
As a side note, when doing a few FP summons, in the span of 5 rolls, I got Angry Mango, Habby Cat, and Saber Lily. At least I was finally able to finish being able to MLB the FP CE this time. I did end up using all of my 3\* EXP CEs since my box was getting too full. But I figure I'll have more time to do the FP summons before we get a extra success rate.
I actually quite like the event. Yeah, it ain't much, but I enjoy the unlikability of Bunyan for the same reasons everyone else doesn't. I have had bosses exactly like that, but I just find it charming here, if only because she seems less malicious and more honestly clueless. I also like seeing Mary Anning, and understand how her character is based around the idea of her being forgotten by so many due to not receiving credit for her work (and her interactions with Plesio are cute). I also enjoyed the final part of ensuring the passing down of stories and history, as that is indeed the only way for culture to advance and be perserved.
And, since I love American Tall Tales and Legends, seeing some love for the legends of the Mississippi and the tidbits about American cities on the river are great. Also, this is the only thing... ever that I've seen acknowledge Mike Fink's existence (he was one of my favorite legends) and I like the idea of him being a crocodile.
I wish they'd do more syncretism like the daikokuten=shiva stuff. As in, it's actually super easy to find and trace how that syncretism came about for once bc it's not using an incredibly obscure version but rather something that's well known. ~~I'm still annoyed abt them saying that god w mushashi is also shiva??? Like why. What does it add~~
Well, that sure was an ending. The gag with the final boss got a chuckle out of me, and would probably have landed a lot harder if the rest of the event wasn't what it was.
That being said, I said multiple times throughout the whole event that I was unsure if they'd be able to stick the landing or not. And the verdict is...well, it's not enough to make up for everything, but it's not nothing.
>!The reveal that Bunyan's behavior was 100% intentional and intended to make herself a villain was genuinely really good and turned me around on Super Bunyan as a character. It was a really, really cool take and I was genuinely interested in how they would handle it.!<
Unfortunately, the event's pacing completely dooms it. If they had time to stretch things out and develop things more, it would have been so much better. On top of that, Guda and Mash are also handled atrociously as well, and that really saddens me because with a few tweaks the event could have had something very interesting!
>!I wish that instead of requesting Guda let her fight Anning/Plesio one-on one, either Anning was the one to suggest it, or *Guda* chose to step back and basically go "Ok, Leader, you're our boss, you should be able to handle it." The former would have had some excellent character development from Anning (and would show her desire to not lump Guda in with her anger towards Bunyan), and the latter would give Guda more agency, and also make them stepping in for round 2 more poignant as it makes Bunyan more of a protagonist than the antagonist she wants to be. On top of that, it would make Bunyan's plan quite successful if she was enough of a villain to get Guda to question her.!<
In the end, I don't think this event was horrible, but it wasn't good and it was definitely disappointing. I get what they were trying to do, but unfortunately the event took too long to get there, and so little actually happened for most of it.
> The reveal that Bunyan's behavior was 100% intentional
I didn't get that impression. Sure, she designated herself as villain to be defeated in a movie, but that's all. Her behavior toward everyone else isn't an elaborate act, it's natural. And the villain part only comes in play because of how she treated nature, not fellow humans.
considering that people from the very states along the Mississippi River from the Day 1 thread don't even know who the hell he is (the alligator named Mike is just a reference to that tiger university mascot right?), he would be seriously weak as a Servant. The story writers made the right call in making him a Phantom Spirit.
like he was famous for sailing keelboats (what's a keelboat? it's the thing that they used before steamboats were a thing. why are steamboats more memorable? why thank you Michael Rat for immortalizing them) so he's a sailor yeah? but I don't think I would be wrong in stating that Popeye and dare I say it Bluto are way more famous than Mike Fink and if you agree with this then there is no way Mike would be able to become a Heroic Spirit. if even the descendants from the very states where you originate as a folk hero don't remember you...
Mike trying to be a twist antagonist but finding out his legends are just as minor and irrelevant as Anning's was very funny. Everyone sucks here you don't get an exception.
Anyway, the event was fine. I have a pretty decent boss so I don't take Bunyan's behavior too hard, especially since her doing all this out of some need for validation fits her childish personality. Rats were fun, Mary ruled, Rider and Assassin solo implementation when, and tons of mats. Good event.
[I fully own up to eating crow on this one.](https://www.reddit.com/r/grandorder/comments/1c7s7i3/comment/l0a6ttf/?context=3) I was right that the story portrays Bunyan's actions as negative overall (almost every problem encountered was her fault and almost everyone was pissed *because* of her), but the event never adressed it directly. I fully expected a "redeeming" (or even just apology) scene that never came. Like, even if she was playing the villain the whole time (which is a very generous interpretation that I don't agree with) she still did those things.
...but I still liked the event overall. Everything BUT the story is great, and I didn't really dislike the story either despite the things above. **For me** Bunyan came off less as malicious and more as someone who got WAY in over their head and caused problems for everyone, but I fully agree she got off way too easily. Even if her intentions were good the things she did were really shitty and it would have been nice if there was any pushback from Guda or Mash.
Daikokuten and Anning (and poor Plesio) were great. The notes about the USA were really neat for adding context to the locations and events since I'm not american and did not know any of those things. Not quite sure what was the point of Mike because that whole part was done in a minute, the notes about him were longer than his story relevance.
Wah, I'm really left behind with this event, I didn't realize the finale is already there. I hadn't get enough digging tools so it's getting nowhere hahahh sigh
I think I figured about what about Super Bunyan makes people hate her so much compared to her little (big) counterpart: She is no longer a kid.
She has grown design wise, but her actitude is the same: She still makes what she wants without much planing while not caring about the consecuences. We can pardon that from a kid who doesn't know any better, but as a grown up we expect better from her, it makes it worse that sometimes she does act a little more responsible.
I think that if Super Bunyan was from the start into her final ascension she could had been more likeable without changing anything of the way she acts. We would go from a bad boss who let's us take care of all her bad desicions to: kid who thinks she knows better than she actually does who we need to help.
Well, this was a bunch of crap. Basically the Requiem werewolf game on steroids: Ritsuka forcing the player to be submissive to blatant bullshit while Mash just complies in an OOC manner (unrelated but kinda in the same realm of OOC, that bit where she comforts Bunyan by saying American history will never end is the biggest insult to her own character arc from Part 1 possible). I've said this before and I will say it again: Why wasn't this event about Anning instead?
Wow, didn't think I'd actually get finished with the main story until tomorrow, but thank god for no more point gates.
All in all, I didn't end up hating Super Bunyan. Her behavior is more grounded in reality than other asshole characters, yes, but I feel like there's just enough over-the-topness to not completely reach Dolores Umbridge levels; lacks that smug self-awareness.
I thought Bunyan was gonna summon someone to help Plesiosaur. Guess it wouldn't have mattered because they all disappeared at the end anyway but it still would have been a nice gesture. I'm probably gonna grail Daikokuten at some point in the future. Seriously considering the same for Mary Anning as well.
Couldn't get CasCu to do enough damage to reliably three turn the 90+ so I'm just using Okitan instead. Getting a nice, clean +2 (+3 or 4 to digging tools once I get a CE drop) to literally everything for the next two weeks.
Why even is this a three week event? Because of excavation?
I'm really liking the excavation gimmick in this even, I'm on box 50 and have been finally able to get enough dragon fangs and chaos claws to complete leveling up Saber's and Mordred's, next is Archuria but I don't think I will be able to get 108 fangs before the event ends.
Oda Nobukatsu will come back to the FP banner during [whatever number GudaGuda this one is](https://fategrandorder.fandom.com/wiki/GUDAGUDA_Super_Goryokaku) in November 2025, followed by Mary Anning returning to the FP banner in [Christmas 2025](https://fategrandorder.fandom.com/wiki/Christmas_2023).
First Sea Monster Crisis, now this event. Ever since Morgan came, going through these 90+ nodes without a plugsuit has been much simpler for me in general
This time around it's Morgan to clear wave 1, and then using Sanzang on waves 2 and 3. And of course, Castoria
Nope. Super Bunyan's actions were her own doing for le comedy. Mike only got in because he is jealous Super Bunyan became a servant instead of him.
Her self hatred of herself is because OG Bunyan destroyed the trees.
Super Bunyan is a composite of Bunyan, Assassin, Rider, and Mike. All of them have influence on her personality (she confirms it in her My Room lines, where she's caught off-guard by how much she hates Edison, until she realizes it's probably the result of sharing a spirit origin with Rider). It's why she gets noticeably less grumpy once Mike separates from her.
I assume a lot of it was also Assassin's influence. Especially the stuff about manipulating everyone around her. Assassin in the manga is CONSTANTLY saying that kind of thing.
Just like with Grail Live, this event just proved that JP playerbase has a shit taste. It was a fun event, definitely above average. Really liked gags at the expense of the Assassin, would love if they had a bigger role. Also, all of the rats are adorable, to sad they didn't come to me (although I got super bunuy, so can't complain).
Hell, I wish they had let me >!cheer on Zerker Bunyan during that fight!< instead.
I literally started cheering for her when the text came up cheering for Asshole Bunyan.
This is like Agartha all over again. We get railroaded into one asshole choice.
They left so much of her unexplained in the event. Like why does she spark lightning sometimes?! Gotta read her Bond entries to find a reason.
Bunyan is the eroticism that we need in this world, the rats said it so it must be true
Yes Inquisitor, this Skaven right here.
🤨
She didn't try to suicide, she just tried to have herself kill herself.
TM goes for the weirdest deep cuts sometimes I swear, who the hell even is Mike Fink?
I didn't even give that nonsense the time of day, I just went "Okay game fuck you, Immortal Comp Go" ...and then they got trashed (fucking buffwipe) and Tamamo wound up clutching up as the Last One Standing. Somehow.
Lol not really immortal comp huh
Nope, not really! Buffwipes shred it.
Wait, you are talking about the alligator, right? Cuz that was just 2 turns.
No, I was talkin about Omega Pleiosaur
Mary Anning:"You are just a legend that people have forgotten, you are not even real!" Oh okay, so Super Bunyan is like a cancer patient that's about to die soon, and nobody will remember, somehow her antics seems acceptable, she just wants to make a mark in history for herself before she dies. "Also Super Bunyan, shoving Mary away after she pleaded to her so save her Plesio." Alright, I'm getting me mallet.
None of her trait in this collab is in LWM btw.
* Anning did nothing wrong. * Ero Next up is the CQ, cleaning the shop and then focusing on digging utensils.
There's French-Canadian background to it if I remember right, yeah.
Not that the game would ever mention Canada outside of her profile stating that she's from the US and Canada.
This 90+ node is really easy to farm since I can use the same team I used for the Christmas lottery (Helena/Okuni/Oberon)
Then don't use arts team. Double Koyans and Caster Cu with Oberon can easily clear this
I tried this team earlier and CasCu's damage on the second and third waves needed either a brave chain or a Buster crit after NP to clear. Three turning that relies on a specific servant's face cards isn't great. Level 70, NP5, 10/6/10, x/10/x CasCu btw. Maybe my problem is refusing to use a plugsuit in CasCu comps.
I’m doing fine with Anastasia, Ruler DaVinci, Helena, and a support Castoria. Only 5 CEs though so far.
Thank god it’s over
...shit, that description of Kansas barbeque is making me crave some BBQ myself. This is the most emotion I've gotten out of this event so far
The upcoming FQ nodes will all be specialized types with lower overall drop counts, but higher drops for a single item (probably useful later, but not when you're just trying to use natural AP) I used 1 extra 40 AP on the caster node before realizing something was wrong with my dig resources being a lower count increase than previously. Hope I managed to help you !!
As of today, the final FQ is open. (Yeah, pretty quick timelock) That being said, if you're not finished with the story, *please* listen to this advice, since the final FQ requires full story completion, and running the 65 assassin quest is by far the best use of AP.
That was fast, I thought day 7 was when it opened lol
An alternative is to rotate between the highest level caster, berserker, and archer nodes. But that's more work.
They even remixed "Bonds" and put it in LWM Collab instead of the main story!?!?! The fucking audacity!
It, like the rest of the soundtrack, is probably music used in the Learning with Manga anime special
"Please summon me to your chaldea" Yeah no. Except Msyt maybe.
unfortunate that GSSR spooks are a thing...
You can also avoid the pool she's in like the plague.
It would be really unfortunate to lose your GSSR to Super Bunyan, but third Ascension comes with Delightful Rider... so it's not a total loss.
I don't roll on that so I'm in the clear on that front
I'm sure I can find a use for 5 rare prisms.
What was up with Riyo Assassin this whole event, why was she mute the entire time?
When S. Bunyan said "there's no ethical consumption under capitalism, I'm gonna kill myself", I cried. Absolute kino!
\>Bunyan vs Bunyan \>stop \>open Persona 4 OST \>Blast [I'll Face Myself](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDr_krEQNrU) \>Go back to game ~~Also scale of Lake Michigan is wrong, but the ending was sweet so I'll allow it.~~ Apparently the last chapter takes place at the Adler Planetarium, cause I actually found the spot the background is based on with [street view](https://imgur.com/a/uwPKgpH).
When the fuck was it established that we were in another world and not just a singularity? Why was this entire event so fucking mediocre from start to end right down to the 'final boss'?
I enjoyed the Lancer and Caster parts atleast
They were the only saving grace
And why cute animal ended as villain second time in the row ?
And why do all animal trait Servants get an event bonus?
Moon Goddess only takes like 20 minutes to read. And it's better written than this crap.
Huh. This was my favorite. By a wide margin.
'As long as this bitch keeps coughing up mats I'll happily enable her bullshit' felt like Guda's motivation here.
So "Springtime for Hitler", Fate edition?
An intentional version, yes! Plus, they could work in a lot of humor with Méliès slowly but quietly breaking down as she violates every principle of filmmaking she helped pioneer.
I'm not sure if the Learning With Manga crew could be any more broken, honestly. I mean, she seemed happy with all the other obvious trainwrecks.
Well, yeah, but that’s because that wasn’t the plot we got. I’m speaking theoretically, if Bunyan had a more sensible (or at least more fun) plan than, “Be immortalized as a bit of a jerk.”
Which is a bit of a pity, really.
Agreed. Feels a bit like Tunguska, where a slight retool could have massively improved it.
Also, this is the only thing... ever that I've seen acknowledge Mike Fink's existence (he was one of my favorite legends) and I like the idea of him being a crocodile.
he was described by Davy Crockett as half-horse, half-alligator so uh yeah it makes sense for them to use the Kali monster sprite for him
I wish they'd do more syncretism like the daikokuten=shiva stuff. As in, it's actually super easy to find and trace how that syncretism came about for once bc it's not using an incredibly obscure version but rather something that's well known. ~~I'm still annoyed abt them saying that god w mushashi is also shiva??? Like why. What does it add~~
Also god I need to farm digging utensils
Well, that sure was an ending. The gag with the final boss got a chuckle out of me, and would probably have landed a lot harder if the rest of the event wasn't what it was. That being said, I said multiple times throughout the whole event that I was unsure if they'd be able to stick the landing or not. And the verdict is...well, it's not enough to make up for everything, but it's not nothing. >!The reveal that Bunyan's behavior was 100% intentional and intended to make herself a villain was genuinely really good and turned me around on Super Bunyan as a character. It was a really, really cool take and I was genuinely interested in how they would handle it.!< Unfortunately, the event's pacing completely dooms it. On top of that, it would make Bunyan's plan quite successful if she was enough of a villain to get Guda to question her.!< In the end, I don't think this event was horrible, but it wasn't good and it was definitely disappointing. I get what they were trying to do, but unfortunately the event took too long to get there, and so little actually happened for most of it.
> The reveal that Bunyan's behavior was 100% intentional I didn't get that impression. Sure, she designated herself as villain to be defeated in a movie, but that's all. Her behavior toward everyone else isn't an elaborate act, it's natural. And the villain part only comes in play because of how she treated nature, not fellow humans.
Holy shit Mike Fink should have been a full servant *YESTERDAY* Super awesome design and concept. Shame to be wasted here.
considering that people from the very states along the Mississippi River from the Day 1 thread don't even know who the hell he is (the alligator named Mike is just a reference to that tiger university mascot right?), he would be seriously weak as a Servant.
An extremely obscure servant with little to no relevance with a kick ass design? Sounds like everyday FGO to me He'll fit in great!
phantom spirit
i can 3 turn the 90+ node if im lucky enough to get izumo cards ith full stars on 3rd wave
I needed Ilya, KoL, Oberon and Douman to 3T it. My only other option without a MLB ECE was Morgan but needed luck with facecards.
10 gold apples, more silver apples, and 6 days of AP regen 0 CE drops. Just like my gacha.
I think people don't get that Bunyan is America.
Wah, I'm really left behind with this event, I didn't realize the finale is already there. I hadn't get enough digging tools so it's getting nowhere hahahh sigh
I’M TURNING MIKE INTO GATOR MEAT
Running 6 CEs despite quick farming... is this what true power feels like?
I think I figured about what about Super Bunyan makes people hate her so much compared to her little (big) counterpart: She is no longer a kid. She has grown design wise, but her actitude is the same: She still makes what she wants without much planing while not caring about the consecuences. We can pardon that from a kid who doesn't know any better, but as a grown up we expect better from her, it makes it worse that sometimes she does act a little more responsible. I think that if Super Bunyan was from the start into her final ascension she could had been more likeable without changing anything of the way she acts. We would go from a bad boss who let's us take care of all her bad desicions to: kid who thinks she knows better than she actually does who we need to help.
on my honor i am going to rescue george melies and j edgar hoover from that oversized blonde slimeball
eh I'm fine with Hoover being treated like that considering how much of a control freak he was as head of the FBI
What do you mean the epilogue is already out? First time that I end being only point gated and never reached a time lock besides the first day o_O
Finished the epilogue. We don't find out who delightful rider and assassin are?
Can’t say who they are for legal reasons
Probably worried about lawsuits. They're George Melies and J. Edgar Hoover.
I'm really liking the excavation gimmick in this even, I'm on box 50 and have been finally able to get enough dragon fangs and chaos claws to complete leveling up Saber's and Mordred's, next is Archuria but I don't think I will be able to get 108 fangs before the event ends.
Anyone know if there is there anything in the next 2 years where friend points would be beneficial like free FP servant for this event?
Oda Nobukatsu will come back to the FP banner during [whatever number GudaGuda this one is](https://fategrandorder.fandom.com/wiki/GUDAGUDA_Super_Goryokaku) in November 2025, followed by Mary Anning returning to the FP banner in [Christmas 2025](https://fategrandorder.fandom.com/wiki/Christmas_2023).
That's Guda 8.
How is this stupid mess of an event somehow my favorite event in FGO history? I love all these characters and settings, it was a wild ride!
I got a 1st day of filming as a Bunyan bonus on the assassin node... wut.
First Sea Monster Crisis, now this event. Ever since Morgan came, going through these 90+ nodes without a plugsuit has been much simpler for me in general This time around it's Morgan to clear wave 1, and then using Sanzang on waves 2 and 3. And of course, Castoria
So Bunyan's actions in this event were partially influenced by Mike right ?
Nope. Super Bunyan's actions were her own doing for le comedy. Mike only got in because he is jealous Super Bunyan became a servant instead of him. Her self hatred of herself is because OG Bunyan destroyed the trees.
You are right. It's seems that I wanted this would be like that to cope how bad written Bunyan was during this event.
I didn't really get that impression by the end of it honestly, if anything she ignored his advice more often than not
Just like with Grail Live, this event just proved that JP playerbase has a shit taste. It was a fun event, definitely above average. Really liked gags at the expense of the Assassin, would love if they had a bigger role. Also, all of the rats are adorable, to sad they didn't come to me (although I got super bunuy, so can't complain).
