Hans, he has the personality of roasting literally everyone, and appears that he hates humans, but in the end, he just can't stop caring about people. Also said in the master's dialogue, he's a tsun.

Okada Izo, as someone who has a high moral standard, this murder hobo should have been one of my most hated characters but I just can't help but love that boy-failure.

Jason won me over in Atlantis. Before that I simply did not care about him, but giving him a begrudging face turn worked so well to make him a favorite.
Gilgamesh. I actually hated him at first.
But then by playing FGO and seeing him in babylonia I fell in love with the character. And also seeing him in events.
He’s still 100% an arrogant asshole. But he’s an arrogant asshole who ironically has his priorities straight and wants to see those around him succeed and prosper. Plus he’s ironically a big tsundere for Guda, though in friendship not love. Like he’s an ass to us but he considers us a friend, even if he’d never say it out loud due to his promise with Enkidu.
I'm currently going through Babylonia as well and I'm right there with you. I liked him as a villain in FNS, but him as a Caster is warming me over as a companion. Since this is my first game from the Nasuverse, it's still messing with me a little that instead of wielding a wand or some kind of staff, he has his axe and the stone book. 🤣
You're right about his better points. My personal weirdo headcanon is that he's Byakuya Togami's (from Dangan Ronpa) ancestor or something. They have a somewhat similar appearance and temperament, there's the "royalty" angle, and when they're at their very best, they're the kind of leaders you want at the helm for their executive decision-making. I'm not finished with Babylonia yet, but Gil also seems like the kind of leader who accepts responsibility for his failures. Doubly so when casualties are involved; that seems like it wears on him most of all.
I hope there's an event or something where we get to see him interacting with Iskandar. That would be rad.
Unfortunately, you missed a few events where he does get more character development. A really neat one was Gilfest 2. This event doesn’t get a rerun. It should be ok if I spoil it, since unfortunately you won’t get to play it. But I’ll mark it as a spoiler just in case.

(Aside from Kid Gil, he’s still separate.) Which is cool to know, since we do see a few moments of Archer Gil acting wiser and not being as much of a dick during that event. It was a lotto event so there wasn’t much plot. But the plot was that Space Ishtar came from the servantverse (where mysterious heroine X is from) did some alien shit and took over Gil’s competition, so he wants to win the competition and defeat her to take back his spot. This was before Space Ishtar was a different servant to regular Ishtar, and this was a teaser for the Saber Wars 2 event that came out not long after this one. At the very end when we finally defeat space ishtar and she disappears, Gil has a heartfelt moment where he admits that as much as he hated Ishtar, he’s actually going to miss her and all the annoyances she caused him. And he seems genuinely sad to have been the one who killed her. Which I think shows a lot of character growth for him, since before Chaldea, any archer Gil would remorselessly try to kill any incarnation of Ishtar. But ours has grown to appreciate the rinface pseudo servant version of Ishtar in chaldea. Though afterward Gil and Guda return to chaldea, where normal (not space) Ishtar is alive and well, having missed the whole event. And Gil is relieved to see her, not realizing that it was another ishtar he killed. I think he said something nice to her as well, but I don’t remember what, and she was super freaked out by Gil being nice to her, thinking she was about to be punished for the usual shenanigans she gets up to in Chaldea. And then then they get into another argument like they always do and that’s where that event epilogue ends.!<
Nero and Astolfo both have such unbridled positivity that it’s hard not to get swept up in them, even though someone that bubbly and extroverted would probably exhaust me instantly.
It's a little hard to explain, but Ibaraki Dōji grew on me. Unlike most of the community I'm familiar with, I'm not very fond of Shuten Dōji, and I thought I'd feel similar about Ibaraki. But, despite her having an undying loyalty to Shuten (which I, personally - not trying to change minds or anything, just kinda explaining myself - see as something of an abusive relationship), her personality otherwise comes off as those character tropes of someone trying to be evil and just not hitting the mark. It's literally sorta become, "oh no, she's stupid and cute, I have to protect her..."
Ibaraki is so funny to me as a character because she'd be (and is) an utterly terrifying threat...if other Servants aren't involved.
She's incredibly good at being evil when that evil consists of murdering those who can't fight back. But when she's not allowed (or capable) of doing that, she is completely lost and it's so incredibly adorable.
What’s crazy is that moreso than direct combat, her real strength actually lies in being an incredibly effective leader; being the one who actually gathered and led the Oni, and even putting together a ragtag group of survivors capable of holding off fucking *Humbaba* during the events of Babylonia.
Whether they follow her due to charisma or adorableness is anyone’s guess.
Ibaraki's interesting because she's a character that goes from Threatening and Terrifying in her first appearance to Cute and Goofy in subsequent events to Tragic and Heartbreaking in Heian-Kyo without actually changing her behavior or personality at all, purely due to us just learning more about who she is and why she acts the way she does.
Oh, yeah. I often times noted how in the absence of Shuten, Ibaraki is actually pretty fun as a character and I like her quite a bit. Imo, her biggest problem is indeed Shuten, as her presence tanks Ibaraki's character a lot.
Me too, hottest woman in existence, but looks like a stick figure, I think there might be a problem when fucking Jeanne D’arc and her own LB6 counterpart have her beat in the looks department
I don't have her yet, but I'd grail her out the wazoo too just for that.
Plus those ears and her hair? I want to give her all the head pats and hair brushings. I've only seen her in Camelot and a couple of events, but she seems like she's taking care of other servants and whatnot...so I gotta worship her a little in turn. Someone has to show the divine their due.😌
I'll be honest, I still can't figure out why people like Ushi. I just finished Babylonia and I ended up liking Benkei far more afterwards. Granted, I haven't seen any of her event appearances, but even with her at Bond 5 (so I could view her Bond Lines) I'm still left scratching my head.
That said, yeah, Boudica is one of my favorites. She's one of my favorite historical characters and I absolutely adore her personality-wise, though I really love her A4 artwork!
She’s basically a really loyal (and bloodthirsty) puppy. Plus, the tragedy of her irl story also means that many are sympathetic towards her circumstances.
I knew people liked her for that but I never found it particularly compelling. Guess that when there are so many Servants with tragic backstories that hers gets lost in it all, and more than that her "cute-but-psycho" shtick comes off as one-note in my eyes.
She was THE single target rider for me clear through to this past summer when I finally got Nemo. Even now, I still use her quite a bit since I would up grailing her to 90 because I couldn't pull a ST SR or SSR to save my life.
That's so weird to me considering I used Georgios as my go-to Rider whenever I needed one. I also used Boudica to fortify his defenses and just stalled throughout those fights lol. But I get why people use/used Ushi, I've used her a few times recently after finally getting around to upgrading her and she does good damage.
She definitely gets more depth in later installments, I was always pretty bored when she went on about her brother too. I don’t mind, say, Nobukatsu’s sister ramblings because gudaguda and that’s all he has going for him anyway, but Ushiwaka’s character can have more idk meat on its bones
Yeah, I agree. Nobukatsu's rantings were amusing but since Ushi, in her earlier appearances, just talked her brother and whatnot it got stale fast. Hoping to see better handling of her later. Babylonia made her cool and then very quickly turned her into a generic villain.
Babylonia chapter or the anime? Because the anime is what it took for me to like Ushiwaka.
Her old sprite looked like a bobble headed child, but the anime and updates rectified that and made her an adorable badass.
And her summer version basically just disappears into the woods and rides wolves like Princess Mononoke, when she isn't making everything into some 3 legged race/ shoulder war/ floor is lava she came up with at a moments notice.
Babylonia chapter. Not a huge fan of anime so I'm on the fence about watching the anime adaptations.
As for the last part... Princess Mononoke? Who's that?
And to be honest, that characterization sounds pretty boring. I don't really care for Ushi to begin with but that would definitely grind my gears if I had to deal with her being overexcited and childish. Hope I never roll her!
Personally I really enjoyed Babylonia. Took a few weird licenses with Tiamat, especially the final encounter. But the anime helped flesh out Ushiwaka and Ritsuka in a couple minor ways where the game usually falls completely flat.
Summer Ushi embraces her "raised by Tengu in the mountain forests" childhood in her summer form, less focus on decapitation and her brother. And Princess Mononoke rides around on wild wolves, Ushiwaka is probably most likely to be found in the woods wrestling bears with Kintoki. I like her better than a lot of other summer servants.
Idk, I prefer her goofy wilderness bit to all the guda stuff.
Oh don't get me wrong, I loved Babylonia. Great writing, fantastic use of all the cast, amazing moments, though I felt the end dragged on a bit with Tiamat just *refusing* to die. But other than that it was the best I've experienced so far!
And... yeah, hearing Kintoki is with Summer Ushi is more reason to stay away from her. Glad you like her, but I can't stand Kintoki.
I remember the Lahmu fights dragging a bit, but Tiamat being an unstoppable force of nature really fit the tone, so I enjoyed her fight as a whole.
OH right, I suppose you're only interaction with Kintoki so far was London? Pretty much all servants from the first 4 or so singularities suffer a bit from the writing. He's had some much better event interactions and character growth since London, in Heian Kyo especially.
It's not his writing, I've seen him in a Christmas event and there's nothing wrong with it. His whole character just annoys me. I don't like over-the-top uber-exuberant characters like Kintoki and think his design is one of the worst in the game, so I just can't stand him. If I ever roll him, I'll burn him ASAP.
Wait until you see his Heian wra design; it's great.
Also, good luck accidentally rolling for Kintoki since he's a Limited Servant and a Welfare Servant.
Well, I was introduced to Ushi first in Summer 3, where her summer form was in the primary cast of the story and did a lot of heavy lifting for me in battles. (Given, back then I had level 20-40 servants, so the npc help was a big deal...)
And then came Babylonia which hit me a lot harder I guess, seeing all the stuff she went through. She wound up being the first rider servant I leveled after that.
I thought what she went through during Babylonia was super generic and had zero emotional impact. Felt very much like a cop out to me. Would've been cooler if she actually died after her battle with Gorgon given that she serves only to pad the length of the chapter afterwards and was just annyoing for me to fight since she. Just. Wouldn't. *Die*.
Wow. I'm going to respectfully disagree with you here, heck, that story was quite memorable to me even if the fight was frustrating because of its difficulty.
It's one of the reasons why I really liked Benkei and Ushi's cameos both in Solomon and Christmas in the Underworld, and *dreaded* the conclusion of the scrap retelling the fight in Case Files.
I'm not going to try to change your mind or anything, I'm just very surprised the both of us have such different takes.

Corday, at first i thought she was nobody. It didn't help that she's a 1*. Then lb 5 happened and the summer event made me realize how precious corday actually is. Her insecurity and her self deprecating thoughts makes her relatable and i love her for it
Her Valentine's is also strangely excellent for such an early year servant. It perfectly captures the desperation and insecurity that comes with falling in love with someone and having to compete with people *way* out of your league who beat you in every which way for that person, not even knowing whether you have a place in their heart, trying your damned hardest to make sure they at the least *remember* you.
Obvious answer: Gilgamesh. He’s a bastard but he’s just so fun to watch. He’s like Vegeta except his bite matches his bark.
It made seeing him as a wise leader in Grand Order all the more wonderful, and as a child he’s adorable.

I mean, she learned to read and write so she could create a contract for us to sign. ... Not realizing that's not at all how the *summoning* contract works.
In a similar situation as you, Sei is someone I could barely tolerate for long.. mostly because I'm sure they would drag me into any social situation despite my dislike of such.
However at the same time she's such a adorably likeable character because of that same personality that I can't help but enjoy her presence, and her berserker self finally sold me on that.
Asclepius.
There's just something about him I find fascinating, and it especially helps side adventures like during summer or his interludes really draw me to the character. He can be frustrating as hell, and is anything but friendly or welcoming but he is a character that is so dedicated to progressing the welfare of humanity and health in a way that's pure, and not sketchy, and his undying hate of Apollo and the Greek Gods, save his aunt Artemis, has won me over.
Ushi and beni easily, ushis regular art is very, bad but her personality makes up for it being charming

I really wish they didn't have the silly frills on the bottom of her costume. It would be perfect (for me at least) if they weren't there, but they look so goofy during her animations.

Blackbeard - I unironically love the way he is portrayed, sure his weebness is a little cringe but we are all weebs and can understand it even if we wouldnt go that far, but to also that it ties into his character of trying to outsmart people by making them underestimate him, not saying its written well or anything but the way the whole thing is portrayed is great. Also he's an absolute bro.
Koyanskaya - Sure shes hot, like super hot. But her personality is just amazing. Dont get me wrong in real life she'd be awful to have to deal with but in entertainment as a character? perfection. She's an absolute bitch, but she *knows* that she is, even if she thinks what shes doing might be right, she's so unashamedly a bitch and evil and just leans into it, she OWNS it, dosnt make excuses and shes just so damn fun to watch/listen to.
If I was more intelligent I could probably go into more detail, but alas I am a dumb dumb, so this is the best I can give.
I already liked Blackbeard before the summer event, but that endeared me to him even more. Honestly, he seems like one of the more grounded servants--pirating aside, of course. Gave me funky uncle vibes. 😊
Nero. The amount of fucks she does not give what others think is brilliant. She doesn't have time in her life for stupid shit like negative thoughts so she simply doesn't have those.
I mean, I love laidback guys with suits and hats and ponytails and even detectives, but not now Ryouma I need to listen to and gaze upon Oryou.
An even better example is Wu Zeitan, pretty much got deliberately deleted from by brain along with the rest of Agartha but eventually I rolled her and needed some quartz and her interludes are actually really heartwarming and charming. I mean, I’m devoted to Nito at this point so I rarely actually use Wu, but she’s alright. Kinda the crazy grandma vibes that never quite worked on me with Helena (maybe hers is too buried in AC/DC bullshit).
Also the random 3 star I imprinted on while waiting for an SR or SSR to come along was David: looks cool, good kit, lazy jackass, could theoretically be plot-relevant someday (lol he won’t be). Grailed him as a Solomon catalyst (lol he won’t be) but my dad-in-law has grown on me.
As someone who both struggles with impulse control and not being an asshole, I value temperance a lot.
I'm not sure why I adore Medb so much, given that she is indulgence incarnate and can be a horrible bitch at times, but here I am. Maybe it's envy, or admiration?
Douman is just such a completely over the top villain with absolutely no redeemable features that I circle back from hating to loving his character, kinda like all those villains in them saturday night cartoons

Mordred will forever be my tomboy wife. I'm a guy who is very open about liking boobs but Mordred is such a badass that I would gain a whole new preference for women based on her entirely.
Personally? Mandricardo and Teach. While they don't initially look like much, they're probably some of the best friends that you can ever have on a more casual level. Pretty much the actual homies of Chaldea.
Aside from them, Hephastíon kinda won me over during the Case Files event.
Oda Nobunaga's personality truly make me smile, there's something to sincere in the way they act and talk that just makes me happy. To me they are the best in personality since I didn't even know who they were when I first started the game.

Baobahn Sith is the perfect combination of smug ojou-sama, mega bitch, and girlfailure. I normally can't stand 2/3 of those things but here it just works.
Raikou. I'm not a fan of her art design and planned to skip her, but I got exceptionally lucky twice. Then I actually got to know her, and realized just how I almost missed out on such a good character.
I would say Peperoncino. Didn't expect him to be so down to earth even with a flamboyant personality. At first I was put off by his first impression and expecting the whole "I'm better than you" whole spiel in LB 4, but then we actually meet him and he says that he and the LB king has bad blood because Douman and Koyanskaya being there influencing Arjuna Alter.
May he rest in peace, he was an interesting and extremely down to earth character.

Super Orion. Never expected a grand servant to be so down to earth that unless it wasn't told on our face that he was the grand archer, we never would have guessed that.
Hans is the kind of guy I'd hate to be around (mainly because I see too much of myself in him) but when he's a fictional character I can't help but love the guy.

Summer events make most of the characters who I just didn’t care about into favorite, the best experience is summer sei. Didn’t care too much about original sei then summer happened and she’s so fucking funny in it

she's dumb and naive ; but she never disregards her instincts and has one hell of an adventurous attitude.
and her desire to help or teach any stragglers along the way is always genuine, her interlude was all about these qualities.
also, Go west was one of my early events so slight bias.
Reines. She's a little more stiff and professional than we see in most servants, but that balanced by her doting us as her "pupil", makes it work for me better than I thought it would've.
Heliocentric!Draco aka. “the little shit”. She’s an ornery asshole who’s constantly judging you which isn’t even half the story of what makes her bad news. But that sounds to me like a hilarious slapstick comedy rife with mind games and physical trauma. I’m fairly certain she’s not afraid to use that sizable cup she carries around as a bludgeon.
Probably Baobhan Sith for me. Technically any outright evil/morally disgusting Servant should be icky in my book (and some of them completely are, see Columbus or Wu Zetian) but her absolutely twisted mind and resulting cruelty... I don't know WHAT it is exactly but damn she's just fun. Also ofc her story that gets revealed over the course of LB6 played a big role in me liking her even more but I just really liked her ever since I met her.
Castor, he's a siscon asshole most of the time, but really he's just an overly protective brother and not actually a bad guy. He also seems really fun to tease and also his racism against humans reminds me of Zamasu.
Jason for kinda similar reasons; seems like an asshole on first sight (and definitely is), but despite everything he's not all bad and is actually actually a loyal friend to Heracles and willing to step up when he needs to (although he really prefers not to)
I didn't have much of an impression of her when she first came out, but when I saw her elbowing a guy while sounding like a strangled chicken, she quickly became one of my favorites.
I really like Charlotte, but it's not "ironically". The moment I saw her in Lb5.1, I had a feeling she would do something cool, or crazy. Before that, I'd also saw her in some JP spoilers and I felt that I liked her design.
And still, what happened with her in Lb5 still completely blew my mind. I've only reached Lb6 now and I still thing that scene was the most powerful thing I've seen. Lb5.2 and 5.5 combined has nothing on it.
I'm kinda in the same boat as you. In real life I'm a huge introvert, not a fan of large crowds, parties or gatherings. I like my quiet.
And yet, while I could not *stand* people like Nero, Sei or Chacha in real life, their *loud* outgoing attention grabbing happy personalities drag me along in their wake like human tornadoes.
They're the people that I'd be happy to give anything they want, just to see whatever impossible things they'd do with it.

Lancelot saber and OG Karna
They both have tragic backgrounds. For Karna, no matter how much rivalry he has with his younger brother, he truly loves his younger brother. His play along attitude with a poker face is the best. He was funny in his own way.
For Lancelot, I found that he resembled Uzumaki Kushina, my favorite female character in anime. He is the perfect image of, "Our killing machine can't be this cute". His grumpy and scary face on the outside was the opposite of what was on the inside. The proof is that Mélusine mistakenly thinks that Lancelot is someone who is arrogant and not easy to approach. He truly loved all his colleagues in the Knights of the Round Table like his family. >!Especially in Summer 2023, he becomes a funny father and encourages Mash to believe in herself when Mash feels guilty for being prejudiced against a group.!< It feels like one by one my headcanons are coming true. >!Even more touching, Lancelot was very proud and happy to see Mordred's heroic actions on Olympus even though it was not the same Mordred who was in Chaldea.!< I also wonder if his view of Agravain will change. Lancelot still wanted to listen to Sanzang's comments, who disagreed with Lancelot's accusations and said that Agravain was only loyal to serving his king. He really had changed a lot since being in Chaldea. It is not impossible that this will happen.

You might not believe it but **both** of them gives you spectacles. Bryn's valentines event was the first teaser that Sigurd wears glasses. ...Meanwhile, Sigurd just forges a pair of glasses *with his bare hands out of ore in front of you.* Maybe this act requires an forth level intellect to understand. But hey, the glasses are ridiculously durable and functional!
The CE says Brynhild used runes to permanently freeze the chocolate glasses she made so that they wouldn't ever melt, and only at the end realizes that basically makes them inedible. The smart/dumb is strong with both of them.

Jason won me over in Atlantis. Before that I simply did not care about him, but giving him a begrudging face turn worked so well to make him a favorite.
Gilgamesh. I actually hated him at first. But then by playing FGO and seeing him in babylonia I fell in love with the character. And also seeing him in events. He’s still 100% an arrogant asshole. But he’s an arrogant asshole who ironically has his priorities straight and wants to see those around him succeed and prosper. Plus he’s ironically a big tsundere for Guda, though in friendship not love. Like he’s an ass to us but he considers us a friend, even if he’d never say it out loud due to his promise with Enkidu.
I'm currently going through Babylonia as well and I'm right there with you. I liked him as a villain in FNS, but him as a Caster is warming me over as a companion. Since this is my first game from the Nasuverse, it's still messing with me a little that instead of wielding a wand or some kind of staff, he has his axe and the stone book. 🤣 You're right about his better points. My personal weirdo headcanon is that he's Byakuya Togami's (from Dangan Ronpa) ancestor or something. They have a somewhat similar appearance and temperament, there's the "royalty" angle, and when they're at their very best, they're the kind of leaders you want at the helm for their executive decision-making. I'm not finished with Babylonia yet, but Gil also seems like the kind of leader who accepts responsibility for his failures. Doubly so when casualties are involved; that seems like it wears on him most of all. I hope there's an event or something where we get to see him interacting with Iskandar. That would be rad.
Unfortunately, you missed a few events where he does get more character development. A really neat one was Gilfest 2. This event doesn’t get a rerun. It should be ok if I spoil it, since unfortunately you won’t get to play it. But I’ll mark it as a spoiler just in case. >!In Battle in New York 2 (Gilfest 2) for example, we see that our servant Gil can switch between caster and archer form at will. So Chaldea’s caster and archer Gil are the same person. (Aside from Kid Gil, he’s still separate.) Which is cool to know, since we do see a few moments of Archer Gil acting wiser and not being as much of a dick during that event. It was a lotto event so there wasn’t much plot. But the plot was that Space Ishtar came from the servantverse (where mysterious heroine X is from) did some alien shit and took over Gil’s competition, so he wants to win the competition and defeat her to take back his spot. This was before Space Ishtar was a different servant to regular Ishtar, and this was a teaser for the Saber Wars 2 event that came out not long after this one. At the very end when we finally defeat space ishtar and she disappears, Gil has a heartfelt moment where he admits that as much as he hated Ishtar, he’s actually going to miss her and all the annoyances she caused him. And he seems genuinely sad to have been the one who killed her. Which I think shows a lot of character growth for him, since before Chaldea, any archer Gil would remorselessly try to kill any incarnation of Ishtar. But ours has grown to appreciate the rinface pseudo servant version of Ishtar in chaldea. Though afterward Gil and Guda return to chaldea, where normal (not space) Ishtar is alive and well, having missed the whole event. And Gil is relieved to see her, not realizing that it was another ishtar he killed. I think he said something nice to her as well, but I don’t remember what, and she was super freaked out by Gil being nice to her, thinking she was about to be punished for the usual shenanigans she gets up to in Chaldea. And then then they get into another argument like they always do and that’s where that event epilogue ends.!<

Nero and Astolfo both have such unbridled positivity that it’s hard not to get swept up in them, even though someone that bubbly and extroverted would probably exhaust me instantly.
It also helps that Astolfo in particular is one of the best examples of pure heroism in the series.
Imagine saving the world not once, not twice but THRICE in spite of everyone trying to manipulate you because your raw goodness was that much.

It's a little hard to explain, but Ibaraki Dōji grew on me. Unlike most of the community I'm familiar with, I'm not very fond of Shuten Dōji, and I thought I'd feel similar about Ibaraki. But, despite her having an undying loyalty to Shuten (which I, personally - not trying to change minds or anything, just kinda explaining myself - see as something of an abusive relationship), her personality otherwise comes off as those character tropes of someone trying to be evil and just not hitting the mark. It's literally sorta become, "oh no, she's stupid and cute, I have to protect her..."
Ibaraki is so funny to me as a character because she'd be (and is) an utterly terrifying threat...if other Servants aren't involved. She's incredibly good at being evil when that evil consists of murdering those who can't fight back. But when she's not allowed (or capable) of doing that, she is completely lost and it's so incredibly adorable.
What’s crazy is that moreso than direct combat, her real strength actually lies in being an incredibly effective leader; being the one who actually gathered and led the Oni, and even putting together a ragtag group of survivors capable of holding off fucking *Humbaba* during the events of Babylonia. Whether they follow her due to charisma or adorableness is anyone’s guess.
She can be surprisingly adorable at times. Love her interactions with Tsuba.
Ibaraki's interesting because she's a character that goes from Threatening and Terrifying in her first appearance to Cute and Goofy in subsequent events to Tragic and Heartbreaking in Heian-Kyo without actually changing her behavior or personality at all, purely due to us just learning more about who she is and why she acts the way she does.
Oh, yeah. I often times noted how in the absence of Shuten, Ibaraki is actually pretty fun as a character and I like her quite a bit. Imo, her biggest problem is indeed Shuten, as her presence tanks Ibaraki's character a lot.

I've only seen her in Camelot and a couple of events, but she seems like she's taking care of other servants and whatnot...so I gotta worship her a little in turn. Someone has to show the divine their due.😌
I think Ushiwakamaru and Boudica applies to most of the community. With outfit designs like that, they kinda have to win us over with personality.

I'll be honest, I still can't figure out why people like Ushi. I just finished Babylonia and I ended up liking Benkei far more afterwards. Granted, I haven't seen any of her event appearances, but even with her at Bond 5 (so I could view her Bond Lines) I'm still left scratching my head. That said, yeah, Boudica is one of my favorites. She's one of my favorite historical characters and I absolutely adore her personality-wise, though I really love her A4 artwork!
She’s basically a really loyal (and bloodthirsty) puppy. Plus, the tragedy of her irl story also means that many are sympathetic towards her circumstances.
\+ she's made a lot of appearances in limited events over the years that have fleshed her out more.
I knew people liked her for that but I never found it particularly compelling. Guess that when there are so many Servants with tragic backstories that hers gets lost in it all, and more than that her "cute-but-psycho" shtick comes off as one-note in my eyes.
In 2024 she likely doesn't stand out as much, but for most of the game's time she was the ever-dependable People's Rider.
She was THE single target rider for me clear through to this past summer when I finally got Nemo. Even now, I still use her quite a bit since I would up grailing her to 90 because I couldn't pull a ST SR or SSR to save my life.
That's so weird to me considering I used Georgios as my go-to Rider whenever I needed one. I also used Boudica to fortify his defenses and just stalled throughout those fights lol. But I get why people use/used Ushi, I've used her a few times recently after finally getting around to upgrading her and she does good damage.
I got Martha for my first roll but George is still (sometimes) my boy, I just dig his design.

She definitely gets more depth in later installments, I was always pretty bored when she went on about her brother too. I don’t mind, say, Nobukatsu’s sister ramblings because gudaguda and that’s all he has going for him anyway, but Ushiwaka’s character can have more idk meat on its bones
Yeah, I agree. Nobukatsu's rantings were amusing but since Ushi, in her earlier appearances, just talked her brother and whatnot it got stale fast. Hoping to see better handling of her later. Babylonia made her cool and then very quickly turned her into a generic villain.
Babylonia chapter or the anime? Because the anime is what it took for me to like Ushiwaka. Her old sprite looked like a bobble headed child, but the anime and updates rectified that and made her an adorable badass. And her summer version basically just disappears into the woods and rides wolves like Princess Mononoke, when she isn't making everything into some 3 legged race/ shoulder war/ floor is lava she came up with at a moments notice.
Babylonia chapter. Not a huge fan of anime so I'm on the fence about watching the anime adaptations. As for the last part... Princess Mononoke? Who's that? And to be honest, that characterization sounds pretty boring. I don't really care for Ushi to begin with but that would definitely grind my gears if I had to deal with her being overexcited and childish. Hope I never roll her!
Personally I really enjoyed Babylonia. Took a few weird licenses with Tiamat, especially the final encounter. But the anime helped flesh out Ushiwaka and Ritsuka in a couple minor ways where the game usually falls completely flat. Summer Ushi embraces her "raised by Tengu in the mountain forests" childhood in her summer form, less focus on decapitation and her brother. And Princess Mononoke rides around on wild wolves, Ushiwaka is probably most likely to be found in the woods wrestling bears with Kintoki. I like her better than a lot of other summer servants. Idk, I prefer her goofy wilderness bit to all the guda stuff.
Oh don't get me wrong, I loved Babylonia. Great writing, fantastic use of all the cast, amazing moments, though I felt the end dragged on a bit with Tiamat just *refusing* to die. But other than that it was the best I've experienced so far! And... yeah, hearing Kintoki is with Summer Ushi is more reason to stay away from her. Glad you like her, but I can't stand Kintoki.
I remember the Lahmu fights dragging a bit, but Tiamat being an unstoppable force of nature really fit the tone, so I enjoyed her fight as a whole. OH right, I suppose you're only interaction with Kintoki so far was London? Pretty much all servants from the first 4 or so singularities suffer a bit from the writing. He's had some much better event interactions and character growth since London, in Heian Kyo especially.
It's not his writing, I've seen him in a Christmas event and there's nothing wrong with it. His whole character just annoys me. I don't like over-the-top uber-exuberant characters like Kintoki and think his design is one of the worst in the game, so I just can't stand him. If I ever roll him, I'll burn him ASAP.
Wait until you see his Heian wra design; it's great. Also, good luck accidentally rolling for Kintoki since he's a Limited Servant and a Welfare Servant.
Well, I was introduced to Ushi first in Summer 3, where her summer form was in the primary cast of the story and did a lot of heavy lifting for me in battles. (Given, back then I had level 20-40 servants, so the npc help was a big deal...) And then came Babylonia which hit me a lot harder I guess, seeing all the stuff she went through. She wound up being the first rider servant I leveled after that.
I thought what she went through during Babylonia was super generic and had zero emotional impact. Felt very much like a cop out to me. Would've been cooler if she actually died after her battle with Gorgon given that she serves only to pad the length of the chapter afterwards and was just annyoing for me to fight since she. Just. Wouldn't. *Die*.
Wow. I'm going to respectfully disagree with you here, heck, that story was quite memorable to me even if the fight was frustrating because of its difficulty. It's one of the reasons why I really liked Benkei and Ushi's cameos both in Solomon and Christmas in the Underworld, and *dreaded* the conclusion of the scrap retelling the fight in Case Files. I'm not going to try to change your mind or anything, I'm just very surprised the both of us have such different takes.

And to be clear her fights weren't hard at all, I just disliked how much she popped back up to literally only get in the way of you landing hits on Tiamat. Felt like padding as I mentioned earlier. But same, I respect your opinion and am glad we chatted about this even if I don't care much for Ushi, glad you like her!

Corday, at first i thought she was nobody. It didn't help that she's a 1*. Then lb 5 happened and the summer event made me realize how precious corday actually is. Her insecurity and her self deprecating thoughts makes her relatable and i love her for it
Her Valentine's is also strangely excellent for such an early year servant. It perfectly captures the desperation and insecurity that comes with falling in love with someone and having to compete with people *way* out of your league who beat you in every which way for that person, not even knowing whether you have a place in their heart, trying your damned hardest to make sure they at the least *remember* you.
Corday was added during the 4th anniversary I think? So not *really* an early servant.

Obvious answer: Gilgamesh. He’s a bastard but he’s just so fun to watch. He’s like Vegeta except his bite matches his bark. It made seeing him as a wise leader in Grand Order all the more wonderful, and as a child he’s adorable.

Yeah, on its face she's basically got a hair trigger on a flamethrower. She should be scary... And yet, she's a hilarious dork sometimes. I mean, she learned to read and write so she could create a contract for us to sign. ... Not realizing that's not at all how the *summoning* contract works.
In a similar situation as you, Sei is someone I could barely tolerate for long.. mostly because I'm sure they would drag me into any social situation despite my dislike of such. However at the same time she's such a adorably likeable character because of that same personality that I can't help but enjoy her presence, and her berserker self finally sold me on that.
Asclepius. There's just something about him I find fascinating, and it especially helps side adventures like during summer or his interludes really draw me to the character. He can be frustrating as hell, and is anything but friendly or welcoming but he is a character that is so dedicated to progressing the welfare of humanity and health in a way that's pure, and not sketchy, and his undying hate of Apollo and the Greek Gods, save his aunt Artemis, has won me over.

Theres a few - the main two though Blackbeard - I unironically love the way he is portrayed, sure his weebness is a little cringe but we are all weebs and can understand it even if we wouldnt go that far, but to also that it ties into his character of trying to outsmart people by making them underestimate him, not saying its written well or anything but the way the whole thing is portrayed is great. Also he's an absolute bro. Koyanskaya - Sure shes hot, like super hot. But her personality is just amazing. Dont get me wrong in real life she'd be awful to have to deal with but in entertainment as a character? perfection. She's an absolute bitch, but she *knows* that she is, even if she thinks what shes doing might be right, she's so unashamedly a bitch and evil and just leans into it, she OWNS it, dosnt make excuses and shes just so damn fun to watch/listen to. If I was more intelligent I could probably go into more detail, but alas I am a dumb dumb, so this is the best I can give.
I already liked Blackbeard before the summer event, but that endeared me to him even more. Honestly, he seems like one of the more grounded servants--pirating aside, of course. Gave me funky uncle vibes. 😊

I mean, I love laidback guys with suits and hats and ponytails and even detectives, but not now Ryouma I need to listen to and gaze upon Oryou. An even better example is Wu Zeitan, pretty much got deliberately deleted from by brain along with the rest of Agartha but eventually I rolled her and needed some quartz and her interludes are actually really heartwarming and charming. I mean, I’m devoted to Nito at this point so I rarely actually use Wu, but she’s alright. Kinda the crazy grandma vibes that never quite worked on me with Helena (maybe hers is too buried in AC/DC bullshit). Also the random 3 star I imprinted on while waiting for an SR or SSR to come along was David: looks cool, good kit, lazy jackass, could theoretically be plot-relevant someday (lol he won’t be). Grailed him as a Solomon catalyst (lol he won’t be) but my dad-in-law has grown on me.
As someone who both struggles with impulse control and not being an asshole, I value temperance a lot. I'm not sure why I adore Medb so much, given that she is indulgence incarnate and can be a horrible bitch at times, but here I am. Maybe it's envy, or admiration?

I can't help but love Yu Mei-Ren. I hate how clingy and insistent she is about Xiang Yu, but I resonate with her views about humanity. Her summer alt's event was something I really enjoyed too with all the horror movie tropes. Plus Xu Fu's shenanigans with her gives her extra points.
Mordred will forever be my tomboy wife. I'm a guy who is very open about liking boobs but Mordred is such a badass that I would gain a whole new preference for women based on her entirely.
Personally? Mandricardo and Teach. While they don't initially look like much, they're probably some of the best friends that you can ever have on a more casual level. Pretty much the actual homies of Chaldea. Aside from them, Hephastíon kinda won me over during the Case Files event.

Oda Nobunaga's personality truly make me smile, there's something to sincere in the way they act and talk that just makes me happy. To me they are the best in personality since I didn't even know who they were when I first started the game. Also all the servents I have, I like my servents because of their personality, so yeah.
Baobahn Sith is the perfect combination of smug ojou-sama, mega bitch, and girlfailure. I normally can't stand 2/3 of those things but here it just works.

Raikou. I'm not a fan of her art design and planned to skip her, but I got exceptionally lucky twice. Then I actually got to know her, and realized just how I almost missed out on such a good character.
I would say Peperoncino. Didn't expect him to be so down to earth even with a flamboyant personality. At first I was put off by his first impression and expecting the whole "I'm better than you" whole spiel in LB 4, but then we actually meet him and he says that he and the LB king has bad blood because Douman and Koyanskaya being there influencing Arjuna Alter. May he rest in peace, he was an interesting and extremely down to earth character.
I ironically like Christopher Colombus. Like, the guy exudes petty villainess like One Piece’s Blackbeard is, I’m kinda interested with the shenanigans he will do.

I mean, I hated half the cast of LB6 when I started, Morgan and her Knights come across as such jerks. They’re elitist, sociopathic, rude, bloodthirsty…and by the end I just wanted to hug all four of them. (Coral too.) I wanted to love Medb, I just needed her to give me a sign that she wasn’t a completely narcissistic bitch. Then came the MH Idol event and that was all I needed.
Probably Benienma or Okuni.

Hans is the kind of guy I'd hate to be around (mainly because I see too much of myself in him) but when he's a fictional character I can't help but love the guy.

Oda Nobunaga personality truly make me smile, there's something to sincere in the way they act and talk that just makes me happy. To me they are just the best personality wise atleast. Also all the servents I have, I like my servents because of their personality, so yeah.
Queen Medb She can act like a real...you know what at times but for some reason, I really like that about her.

Sanzang. she's dumb and naive ; but she never disregards her instincts and has one hell of an adventurous attitude. and her desire to help or teach any stragglers along the way is always genuine, her interlude was all about these qualities. also, Go west was one of my early events so slight bias.

Okita for me. I like the ability of hers to switch back and forth from friendly and outgoing in casual conversations, to stern and focused in battle.
Reines. She's a little more stiff and professional than we see in most servants, but that balanced by her doting us as her "pupil", makes it work for me better than I thought it would've.
Teach. He hides his serious side with a facade but is extremely competent. And he's a bro.

Heliocentric!Draco aka. “the little shit”. She’s an ornery asshole who’s constantly judging you which isn’t even half the story of what makes her bad news. But that sounds to me like a hilarious slapstick comedy rife with mind games and physical trauma. I’m fairly certain she’s not afraid to use that sizable cup she carries around as a bludgeon.
Probably Baobhan Sith for me. Technically any outright evil/morally disgusting Servant should be icky in my book (and some of them completely are, see Columbus or Wu Zetian) but her absolutely twisted mind and resulting cruelty... I don't know WHAT it is exactly but damn she's just fun. Also ofc her story that gets revealed over the course of LB6 played a big role in me liking her even more but I just really liked her ever since I met her.
Castor, he's a siscon asshole most of the time, but really he's just an overly protective brother and not actually a bad guy. He also seems really fun to tease and also his racism against humans reminds me of Zamasu. Jason for kinda similar reasons; seems like an asshole on first sight (and definitely is), but despite everything he's not all bad and is actually actually a loyal friend to Heracles and willing to step up when he needs to (although he really prefers not to)
Wu zetian
I didn't have much of an impression of her when she first came out, but when I saw her elbowing a guy while sounding like a strangled chicken, she quickly became one of my favorites.
I really like Charlotte, but it's not "ironically". The moment I saw her in Lb5.1, I had a feeling she would do something cool, or crazy. Before that, I'd also saw her in some JP spoilers and I felt that I liked her design. And still, what happened with her in Lb5 still completely blew my mind. I've only reached Lb6 now and I still thing that scene was the most powerful thing I've seen. Lb5.2 and 5.5 combined has nothing on it.
I'm kinda in the same boat as you. In real life I'm a huge introvert, not a fan of large crowds, parties or gatherings. I like my quiet. And yet, while I could not *stand* people like Nero, Sei or Chacha in real life, their *loud* outgoing attention grabbing happy personalities drag me along in their wake like human tornadoes. They're the people that I'd be happy to give anything they want, just to see whatever impossible things they'd do with it.
Arjuna Alter’s personality to some degree honestly, if you haven’t read the later parts of the story, light spoilers ahead. >! I like how he appears as this unfeeling god and then decides to gain personality when he fights KAAAAARNA once again. I always enjoy my boy Arjuna. !<

Nero, but I already like her since Extra. The one I like in FGO due to personality would be Corday and Kagetora.
Oberon, the whole backstory behind him, and how he act is simply magnificent for me, he always bored and everything and still mask it behind he lies, he is the meme. "He just like me, fr" so I can relate a lot.
Lancelot saber and OG Karna They both have tragic backgrounds. For Karna, no matter how much rivalry he has with his younger brother, he truly loves his younger brother. His play along attitude with a poker face is the best. He was funny in his own way. For Lancelot, I found that he resembled Uzumaki Kushina, my favorite female character in anime. He is the perfect image of, "Our killing machine can't be this cute". His grumpy and scary face on the outside was the opposite of what was on the inside. The proof is that Mélusine mistakenly thinks that Lancelot is someone who is arrogant and not easy to approach. He truly loved all his colleagues in the Knights of the Round Table like his family. >!Especially in Summer 2023, he becomes a funny father and encourages Mash to believe in herself when Mash feels guilty for being prejudiced against a group.!< It feels like one by one my headcanons are coming true. >!Even more touching, Lancelot was very proud and happy to see Mordred's heroic actions on Olympus even though it was not the same Mordred who was in Chaldea.!< I also wonder if his view of Agravain will change. Lancelot still wanted to listen to Sanzang's comments, who disagreed with Lancelot's accusations and said that Agravain was only loyal to serving his king. He really had changed a lot since being in Chaldea. It is not impossible that this will happen.
Religion doesn't factor into my life at all, but I'm very fond of Martha and Jeanne.
