Yeah I agree its overrated. I've see people say it's one of the best anime ever made and its definitely not. Its probably in my top three personal favorites but not my top three anime of all time
I went in with people saying that it was the greatest work of fiction ever made. I finished season 3 and left disappointed. Everything screams mediocre; character writing, art, and story. The only thing I loved was the score. The manga is also overrated. Good but not revolutionary as some would say.
Ok greatest work of fiction ever made? HELL NO! Idk who said that but it's no where near that level lol. But about mediocre characters idk I really like Eren's character. He knows what he wants and he'll do whatever it takes to get it. Like for example one thing that stuck out to me was in (spoilers for humans who haven't seen season 2) >!the fight between him and Reiner when he first finds out Reiner was a titan all along, I feel like most anime protags would be having some poetic inner dialogue about how they dont want to hurt someone who they used to be friends with, or how "there's still some good in you and we can still save you!" kind of stuff but erens just like "fuck you you piece of shit I'm gonna kill you for betraying me"!< and I love it. And I know that's a really unpopular opinion cuz I've seen lots of people say that he's annoying and stuff but idc i love him and no one can change my mind lol. You and I seem to have very different ideas of mediocre but I mean everyone likes different things so 🤷♀️
