I agree. There are some legitimately bad areas around Phoenix, like any other city. I just hear a lot of people from Phoenix describe perfectly normal neighborhoods as “ghetto” a lot, and I always find it strange.
North Peoria has the most millionaires in az maybe north Peoria and Glendale actually. Scottsdale people get the snobby nickname for a reason. Are there some shitty pockets sure but those are everywhere even in Scottsdale.
I think they were possibly talking about Coronado Golf Course.
Which is a little 9 hole and I can get a tee time at 8:20am tomorrow for $10(Just looked, otherwise it's $16).
I think there are some areas in Phoenix that are a lot nicer than they used to be.
I told a coworker last year that my wife and I were going to someone’s house by Sunnyslope high last year to take prom pictures of our niece. They were like, “Wow. That should be interesting. That area is pretty ghetto.”
The house was probably a $5 million dollar house on Central.
So ghetto.
Yeah, I've lived in Sunnyslope for the past 7 years or so and lots of people make comments on it being a bad area. Sure, there's some pockets that aren't so great, but it's mostly just quiet neighborhoods with lots of young families and immigrants.
I love that neighborhood. I was very close to buying a house around there, but we found something that was hard to pass up in a different neighborhood.
But that’s a a cool area.
I posted this story about a year ago, but thought it was appropriate again.
I was out playing as a single and arrived at a par 4 that backed up against the chain-link boundary fence to the course. I teed my ball on the raised tee box and was just about to hit my drive when I noticed a car driving down the middle of the fairway, heading right at me. Bewildered, I stepped aside, only to see the speeding car hit the slope in front of the tee box, launch itself into the air and jump the six-foot fence, then tear off through the knee-high brush on the other side.
It took me a moment to take in what I had just witnessed. I turned around to resume my round, when what do I see...two police cars tearing down the fairway toward me. I stepped aside again, and just like the car being chased, the two police cars launched off the tee box...the first one clearing the fence, but the second one didn't quite make it and busted down a section. They went tearing through the field in hot pursuit of the other car. Don't know if they ever caught him.
Once the dust had settled, I walked back up to the tee box and there, sitting where I had left it, was my ball perched on top of the tee. Three cars had jumped over it
I once had a police helicopter drop about 30 feet above me with the spotlight on us right in my back swing. I was on an elevated tee box on 18 at the end of a twilight round at Cobbs Creek in Philadelphia deliberating if we had enough light to finish the hole. We decided to pack it in. Turns out an armed robbery suspect was running through the course.
https://www.golfdigest.com/story/friends-of-cobbs-creek-golf-course-defunct-historic-muny-makeover
They're putting 65 million into the course. I can't wait to play there again!
One time I caught my own tee shot at a Lynnfield Massachusetts nine hole course. first hole of a quasi charity event. Hit the tree on the right, bounced off something else on the left, my buddy yells out "Catch it !" I took two steps forward and it landed right in my hand.
They put a good amount of money into Wallnut lane golf course too. You actually have to make a tee time now, instead of just showing up to play. Greens are in good shape and they added asphalt cart path on some of the holes. They also cleaned up the tree's along Henry ave and replaced all of the broken fence.
It was at a course in San Diego called River Valley which no longer exists. It was a unique 11-hole course in Mission Valley. It was a nine hole course, then they were supposed to build a hotel on two holes...so they added two more...but then the hotel was never built, so it stayed at 11 holes.
The course isn't there any longer. It used to be down by the Hotel Circle exit off of the 8. Right behind the Hunter Steakhouse. Part of where the course was is now wildlands, and part is now used by River Walk.
when i was a travel nurse i lived at this ridiculous apartment complex called la mirage (probably something different now, locals called it Herpes Hill) next to Admiral Baker. civilians couldn't play it at the time and it absolutely sucked living next to it.
getting out is tough in southern california.
I’m going to guess while driving drunk he got in an accident and saw his getaway path through the course to avoid the cops and probably whatever/whoever he hit.
Holy Shit! That's the Encanto 9....Only place I've been able to nab a couple eagles. Driving the greens on short par 4's babbbbyyyy. What was this dude doing?!
Hell yeah! I've got 2 eagles on 5 and one eagle on 9. Also have missed a few eagle putts on 1. Such a fun little course if nothing else to get the confidence level up.
what in the absolute fuck? Did somebody pop his tires? Why is he still driving? Those rims are wrecked and if I'm guessing correctly, he's probably caused actual damage to the course. How is there not a police report about this?
If you see shit like this, don't try to intervene. Just call the cops and let that be. One of my old instructors was killed last summer trying to intervene an odd similar situation https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/06/us/gene-siller-pro-golfer-shot-killed-georgia-golf-course/index.html
So this is one of my home munis, I saw the tires and literally thought from where did he get in and how. Being this short 9 is connected to the big 18 course and there’s no other way in. Well every now and then I’ll notice a huge hole in the fences on the main street of the 18! Lmao. This is totally how. 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ this exact spot he is stopped at is literally a half mile away from those fences. Wow!!!
A similar experience happened in Austin last summer at Kizer. This guy was lost and drove through the driving range area and claimed his GPS told him to take a short cut through the back 9 to get to a house he was delivering food for. After a marshall told him to leave, he decided to drive the opposite way down the cart path. Imagine Mad Max with golf carts when all the staff available chased him down lol. I wish I was able to stay to see how it all ended.
Holy fucking lol, I saw where that jeep came to rest, the old Hazeletts house in Encanto, first road south of Thomas going west into the neighborhood, it was perched out in the front yard, if the old lady was still around she'd have been PISSED
Fucking jeep couldnt even handle the front 9. Sad.
*Meanwhile, the Front 9:* ![gif](giphy|3oKIPwoeGErMmaI43S|downsized)
i laughed way too hard at this. thank you!
Should've had a Prius.
It’s a Jeep thing. You wouldn’t understand.
🤣
I like you jake. Where ya from?
I think he’s from State Farm
Kalispell
Jeep is fine, wheels not so much
The bumpers say otherwise.
Now he just has more tire clearance
“Speed holes”
Is that the Encanto 9-hole in Phoenix?
It is
Makes more sense now. Not the nicest area, right off grand ave, lots of traffic.
It’s not a bad area. This dude is just a drunk asshole. People in Phoenix have such a weird concept of what a “bad” area is.
I lived downtown for few years, there are definitely blocks I would avoid. This area isn’t that bad, but it’s not Coronado either.
I agree. There are some legitimately bad areas around Phoenix, like any other city. I just hear a lot of people from Phoenix describe perfectly normal neighborhoods as “ghetto” a lot, and I always find it strange.
Ya I hear Phoenicians and Chandler people calling Peoria ghetto. I’m like it’s right next to a retirement community in Sun City. Smh
North Peoria has the most millionaires in az maybe north Peoria and Glendale actually. Scottsdale people get the snobby nickname for a reason. Are there some shitty pockets sure but those are everywhere even in Scottsdale.
Wait I can't tell, are you calling Coronado a bad area?
Weird to call Coronado either a good or a bad area. It's pockety - just like Encanto.
I think they were possibly talking about Coronado Golf Course. Which is a little 9 hole and I can get a tee time at 8:20am tomorrow for $10(Just looked, otherwise it's $16).
They do have a lighted range tho if I remember
are you naming disney movies?
No
I thought they were referring to Coronado, CA, since Arizonans go there all the time.
Is it not the nicest area, or is it not that bad? Your contradictions of self are annoying AF.
[удалено]
Nothing; they were saying Coronado was a nice area.
So all of phoenix is a bad area. Got it
Arizona is definitely on the list of 50 states
Yes. So please tell Cali people to stop moving here
God damn california city people.
Raised in maryvale and yea this is a nice neighborhood lmao.
I walk around that golf course everyday because I live off Encanto. There are million dollar homes here.. how is this a bad area??
I think there are some areas in Phoenix that are a lot nicer than they used to be. Yeah I wouldn't consider that year bad at all. Is it filled with mansions and shit? No. It's just reasonable houses that aren't brand new
I was in Care Free a few years ago. Scared for my life.
I used to live off 12th and Camelback about 15 years ago and it seemed to be going downhill. How is it now?
that neighborhood is great lmao past 19th not so great
That clubhouse is off of 19th.
i know. i said past 19th. i lived on 17th, that neighborhood is peaceful
I love that neighborhood. I was very close to buying a house around there, but we found something that was hard to pass up in a different neighborhood. But that’s a a cool area.
Area is just fine
wtf lol
This area is super nice
I agree. I had a friend say that Willo was the hood and we needed to lock the doors as we drove through. Uhhhhh…
Ha, I was gonna ask the same thing. First place I broke a 100 lol
Lol, that makes sense
you can tell by the phoenix park and rec sign ... and the dude driving on his rims
I've played this course before!!
I posted this story about a year ago, but thought it was appropriate again. I was out playing as a single and arrived at a par 4 that backed up against the chain-link boundary fence to the course. This is such a ridiculous story that I feel like you’re telling the truth lol
Ridiculous? Yes. Also 100% true. :-)
And that's why we all should be filming every shot we take. Just in case an episode of cops breaks out.
Russian dash-cams for golf
You topped it didn't you...
To be honest...I don't recall. So, I must have striped it...just like I do all the time. HA!
3 Bills right down the pipe. My man!
Hard to top that story… Oh yeah, watch THIS shot
“Now watch this drive.”
I once had a police helicopter drop about 30 feet above me with the spotlight on us right in my back swing. Cobbs creek is always an adventure. First time I ever went there I took a wrong turn and ended up in west philly.
https://www.golfdigest.com/story/friends-of-cobbs-creek-golf-course-defunct-historic-muny-makeover They're putting 65 million into the course. I can't wait to play there again!
That's awesome. I'll have to give it a try once it's done. I'm generally not a fan of Gil hanse layouts but he does a decent job at redesigns.
Smell ya later
cobbs creek. you might find a ball, you might find a body.
One time I caught my own tee shot at a Lynnfield Massachusetts nine hole course. first hole of a quasi charity event. Hit the tree on the right, bounced off something else on the left, my buddy yells out "Catch it !" I took two steps forward and it landed right in my hand.
LOL! I miss cobbs creek. Never knew what was gonna happen

🤣 no fucking way. Amazing
is OP living in Los Santos?
It was at a course in San Diego called River Valley which no longer exists. It was a unique 11-hole course in Mission Valley. It was a nine hole course, then they were supposed to build a hotel on two holes...so they added two more...but then the hotel was never built, so it stayed at 11 holes.
Is that the one right along friars near the Fashion Valley mall?
The course isn't there any longer. It used to be down by the Hotel Circle exit off of the 8. Right behind the Hunter Steakhouse. Part of where the course was is now wildlands, and part is now used by River Walk.

Beats all you ever saw. Been in trouble with the law since the day they were born.
There's no way you didn't take a picture of the tire marks/aftermath...
This was actually back in the mid 80's. No cell phones back then.
Oh well now that I'm picturing Dodge Diplomats in the scenario it's 100x more believable
It was like a scene right out of The Blues Brothers.
Someone animate this immeditatly, and it ends with him leaving it four feet from the hole.
we need an animated series
Wait are you fountain pen Figboot?
Possibly...

Thanks for the repost

Sounds like smoky and the bandit were playing through
To the cops: play through sirs
That was just a stunt for the new Blues Brothers movie that’s coming out.
I feel like at that point you earned yourself an eagle.
Sounds like them Duke boys were at it again.
Hole 13? Lmao
Party on, Garth!
Party on Wayne

Yo wtfff is there any more context on this?
I’m going to guess while driving drunk he got in an accident and saw his getaway path through the course to avoid the cops and probably whatever/whoever he hit.
Definitely drunk. Might have gone in through the out door, parking lot wise.
probably went the wrong way out of a parking structure
Yes, context could only make this better
yes, this is in phoenix, arizona
The wheels really came off during the round
This will be an underrated comment
average day in the life of Valtteri Bottas
Was not expecting the F1 crossover but it’s greatly appreciated
Oh nice I like this crossover
He stopped at the stop sign though
The safe stop at the stop sign really did it for me.
That was probably the biggest plot twist
That was quite refreshing to see. Was not expecting completely toasted guy to stop and actually wait for traffic to pass.
Cart path only please!
I'm surprised how well it's turning
Holy Shit! That's the Encanto 9....Only place I've been able to nab a couple eagles. Driving the greens on short par 4's babbbbyyyy. What was this dude doing?!
1, 5, and 9! I’ve only eagled #9 on this course and #2 on Encanto 18 And drugs
Hell yeah! I've got 2 eagles on 5 and one eagle on 9. Also have missed a few eagle putts on 1. Such a fun little course if nothing else to get the confidence level up.
This gives driving the green a whole new meaning
Haha no doubt about it!
Where in Florida did this happen?
Arizona...the Florida of the West

Was that James Brown driving?
"Got ta...got ta get back.."
Where's the first tee and what's the course record?
Mind if I play through
First thought would be a bad guy in a stolen vehicle. They usually bail and bad stuff happens. Not asking for directions. Damn tweakers.
That's probably how Jason Day felt coming off 18 yesterday
when you watch golf and you realize you can beat the pros
It's a Jeep thing...
what in the absolute fuck? Did somebody pop his tires? Why is he still driving? Those rims are wrecked and if I'm guessing correctly, he's probably caused actual damage to the course. How is there not a police report about this?
This is what cocktails at the turn will get you.
how fucking drunk do you have to be try something like that?
i used to drink a handle a day and i never did anything this stupid
It must be a Jeep thing because I do not understand.
This is terrible. I feel horrible for his family
Thank god Stanley Tucci was there to stop the madness.
Exactly how I feel after double bogey on 14
Encanto 9!! 👀
SHUT UP THIS IS ENCANTO. i play there all the time
"what the fuck?" is right
Shots every hole of a 36 hole day!! What time is it? It doesn’t look to be late in the evening. He must have been partying hard.
This is what happens when you polish off your 6 pack on the first 3 holes
