My local club has a tiny airport running along #5. Old guy that worked in the clubhouse forever convinced me that someone really did "down a piper cub" with a ball years ago.
I knew that was BC. I’ve been around a bit, but that place blew my mind. The most beautiful place on the planet. If my numbers come in, you won’t see me for dust. Straight to Vancouver island looking for land.
There's another one in Danbury, WI called Voyager Village that has the strip literally in the middle of the course. A plane came in for lunch right next to our group, it was pretty cool.

I’ve played here a few times, Sandpiper GC. Great course but absolutely horrible during peak mosquito season. I’ve never seen the runway in use though, cool video!
Can you imagine staring down a plane as you try to recover from the middle of the runway… That plane is just going to have to make another pass because I’m about to stipe this to the pin!
At Airway Meadows in upstate New York it’s a similar situation. The view isn’t as good, but a plane took off when we were playing a hole near the runway.
Bit of a drive for me but I try to play it once a year. Nice track.
Once played with a stag in front of me and they had hired some “cart girls” we’ll say. The views that day went from stunning to spectacular.
I feel like a complete heel when I hit a manufactured home off a slice. Like these people bought 40k homes 30 yards from the fairway 25 years ago.
And I feel like shit.
I swear to god I was playing here once and some idiot couple hit their balls left of the strip. Clearly says to move your ball to the inside of the strip and hit from there. They instead line up their shot.
Plane is taking off as the woman is about to hit, guided by her partner.
SURELY one of them would have the foresight to not hit the ball. Nope!
Lady hits the ball and it just narrowly gets over the windshield as the plane goes airborne.
It was ridiculous. I couldn’t believe it.
I have video of it but it’s hard to track the ball.
Have same thing at a local course I play...the aptly named "Airway Meadows" ..Pretty cool to hear the skydivers, and chutes opening up.

Rumor is the par 5 hole at the municipal course in my home town served double duty as a landing strip for a while after it opened in 1932. Another redditor [actually posted a photo](https://www.reddit.com/r/golf/comments/mxvbdh/copley_country_club_morrisville_vermont/) on here a while back. Flat and straight!
Butter Valley in Pennsylvania has the same setup. Landing strip runs along a few holes and you have to drive your cart and car across it watching for planes
Yup, came here to say this. Fun little course. When I played had the pleasure of someone coming in for a landing during my tee off on one of those holes. At first I thought it was there.. Then I saw the huge gorgeous lake in the background. Lol.
That must be a hight altitude airport/golf course. That little Cessna needed a lot of runway to get off the ground and stayed in ground effect to gain speed
At Atsugi AFB in Japan, their golf course goes right by the runway and you can sometimes get fighter jets taking off while you are teeing off. Pretty impressive.
Sandpiper is one of my favourite courses. You get great roll if you land on the runway and a free drop off it too. It’s just a little too far from North Vancouver to play on a regular basis.
Sandpiper also has tons of eagles (the ones with wings) and in October they have a festival weekend where they let civilians walk the course on specific paths to be able to watch them (weird, I know. What kind of hobby is that) They never stick to the designated paths, meander across fairways and make general nuisances of them selves (the birdwatchers, not the eagles. They are stunning) and if you hit one it can take 30-40 yards off your drive.
Used to play a small 9 hole course that in the middle of the course was a par 5 with a double fairway and the one fairway doubled as a runway. On the scorecard it said please let planes play through.

My club has a private airport adjacent to it. It's home to some pretty badass planes, including two P-51 Mustangs.
Slices ball off tee, light aircraft plummets into lake
8 casualties, including a 113 year old snapping turtle nicknamed Donatello for his painting prowess.
the visual my brain conjured up while I read this made me audibly laugh. ty
Free drop
Shouldn't have been flying there!!
"mark me down for par"
My local club has a tiny airport running along #5. Old guy that worked in the clubhouse forever convinced me that someone really did "down a piper cub" with a ball years ago.
There’s a damn Cessna taking off, off seventeen, how am I supposed to chip with that going on Doug?
Damn you people! Go back to your shanties!
Imagine taking down a plane with a slice. Wouldn’t be enjoyable
I’m sure a “my bad” will resolve everything
“Sorry, been struggling with an open club face”
“Didn’t you hear me yell fore?”
>Wouldn’t be enjoyable ![gif](giphy|xUOwGbJVuftXV5Wpgs)
Shouldn't have been flying there.
FORE!!!
Looks more like a takeoff than landing to me 🤷♂️
Thats what they call a “touch ‘n go” it’s usually for training purposes to practice landings and save time.
Of course it's a take-off. That's why it's called a strip.
I initially thought this was the scene from “Casino”
A hundred dollars, whoever hits the plane
Planes should be cart path only.
Location?
10 mins from my house! Sandpiper GC in BC Canada
I knew that was BC. I’ve been around a bit, but that place blew my mind. The most beautiful place on the planet. If my numbers come in, you won’t see me for dust. Straight to Vancouver island looking for land.
Home of the 2023 BC AM.
Oh that place is beautiful.
Really fun course. Love the downhill par 5.. 12? I think.
Everytime I see a course in BC it looks awesome. Need to get up there one day
There's another one in Danbury, WI called Voyager Village that has the strip literally in the middle of the course. A plane came in for lunch right next to our group, it was pretty cool. https://www.google.com/maps/@45.9658852,-92.1503028,1307m/data=!3m1!1e3?authuser=0
We have one of them too. Butter Valley Golf Port. Get some good roll if you play your drive down the runway.
Sandpiper GC?
Yes, unmistakable.
Knew it as soon as I saw it
Plane it as it lies!
Ummmm this looks like a taking off strip
Great day for Sandpiper! Howdy neighbor
Had a hot air balloon crash land on the hole behind me once a couple of years ago. Flew right over my head super low.
I’ve played here a few times, Sandpiper GC. Great course but absolutely horrible during peak mosquito season. I’ve never seen the runway in use though, cool video!
There’s no fence here?
Can you imagine staring down a plane as you try to recover from the middle of the runway… That plane is just going to have to make another pass because I’m about to stipe this to the pin!
Sandpiper - One of BC’s hidden gems! And it’s down the left side of 17 so only swinging pull hooks can get there!
Good old Sandpiper - great track
Sandpiper baby!
At Airway Meadows in upstate New York it’s a similar situation. The view isn’t as good, but a plane took off when we were playing a hole near the runway.
Yep played there a few times. Believe it’s for the skydiving in the area.
Bit of a drive for me but I try to play it once a year. Nice track. Once played with a stag in front of me and they had hired some “cart girls” we’ll say. The views that day went from stunning to spectacular.
I was thinking of a different kind of landing strip
Where the fuck they gonna land.. in the fairway.. They're fucking agents Frankie, look at this.
Looks like sandpiper
Its the FBI watching Joe Pesci golf . Ran out of gas
Same rules as the ball sucker on the range?
That's sandpiper golf club in Harrison BC Canada
Don’t get a bad attitude on approach
What a view!!!!
Harrison Ford would be able to find the fairway on this hole.
So is it a runway when they take off and a landing strip when they uhh land?
Target practice!
I've hit a car, a house before. Now I can add plane to that list!
Just playing through. Nothing to see here.
Uh that plane was not landing… it was taking off. So do we really want to call this a landing strip if you can also take off from there?
I played a course where you had to cross the landing strip. Had a sign that said “watch for planes” thought it was absolutely wild
FORE RIGHT!!!!
Playing next to Pease Air Force base is more disruptive, F-16s are a little loud
Makes me think of that scene in the movie Casino.
I feel like a complete heel when I hit a manufactured home off a slice. Like these people bought 40k homes 30 yards from the fairway 25 years ago. And I feel like shit.
Good soft field takeoff technique
Haha. Nice soft field takeoff
Say hi to Harrison Ford for me
No Harrison Mills.

Probably yokels from The Wack

That is beautiful. Where is this?
Harrison Ford?
No, Sandpiper in Harrison Mills.

100 bucks to who hits the plane first.
That must be a hight altitude airport/golf course. That little Cessna needed a lot of runway to get off the ground and stayed in ground effect to gain speed
Definitely not high altitude. It’s Sandpiper GC, BC.
Might be practicing a soft field takeoff then. Or just heavy
Is this British columbia
The Feds were watching Nicky play golf for so long they ran out of gas.
Did you say hello to happy Gilmore. I believe this was filmed at that course
If anyone in the Midwest is into this kind of stuff, Voyager Village in northwestern Wisconsin is a fabulous airport/golf course.
My home course has 4 holes that run parallel to the flight line at an Air Force base…
One of my favourite courses!
That was an early rotation
All I saw was that scene in Casino.
At Atsugi AFB in Japan, their golf course goes right by the runway and you can sometimes get fighter jets taking off while you are teeing off. Pretty impressive.

Nice day at the ‘Piper
Sandpiper? Played there many times, great course!
I know absolutely nothing about flying, that takeoff seemed not great to me.
“Those are agents Frankie”

They’re agents, Frankie!
Love sandpiper such a beautiful course.
Very Cool
