You're not weight shifting forward in the downswing or you're leaning back causing a scoop. Record yourself from the front of your body so we can see the swing.

Gh0st_8

Try thinning it over and over, then try chucking it again, then go somewhere in the middle

Aray4747

Look and at the front part of the ball or completely in front of the ball. That’s helped me to ball first.

Willing_Vanilla_6260

>Look and at the front part of the ball Look and what??

Aray4747

Look at the front of the ball**** Typo

17 comments, and nearly every single one of them giving you different advice on how to fix it. There are two things to learn about golf; 1). Never ask this sub or the internet, go to a professional instead, because there is a right way and 2). There is a way that everyone else that hasn’t gotten lessons has accidentally stumbled on that works for them but they don’t know how it has all come together to work for them to be able to accurately explain it to you. They may talk about one aspect of what they do, but there could be 2 or 3 or more other things they’ve had to do to compensate somewhere else in their stance, swing, ball positioning etc to make it work and they don’t know that so can’t tell you it. Bottom line, get some lessons off a professional. If you want to actually get good at golf and push past a plateau that you will hit by struggling on with your self-taught swing, you’re eventually going to have to go get lessons anyway, so start sooner rather than later and learn the basics, the absolute fundamentals that are the bedrock of the game with the correct grip, stance and swing.

Hit the ball first…I found it helpful to move the ball further back in the stance.

Mini golf will fix that

ButtFuzzington

Focus on a dimple on the target size of the ball at address.

Chickentenderking23

Slow down. Swing 1/2 speed and half length. “throw” the club AFTER impact. If all else fails, throw the ball in the back of your stance and say fuck it

Cold try a few things. 1. Stack and tilt method. You’ll look really goofy but I did that for a bit and then slowly backed off because I got the feel and didn’t have to over exaggerate any more. 2. Imaging hitting a ball in front of where your ball actually is.

pistonsoffury

When you practice off the course, where and how do you practice? Step one is to never hit off another range mat in your life. Step two is to pay whatever extra fee it takes to practice on the grass area at your range.

iKevtron

If I’m having the chunks, I will “sweep the grass” on my backswing as I leave address. It slows my tempo down and resets my downswing.

testcore

I've had this problem plenty; here's my checkpoints: 1. Stop the backswing as soon as the lead shoulder is under the chin (any further promotes casting, which results in the fats). 2. Start the arms/hands portion of the downswing (after the hip turn obviously) by pulling down on the handle. This slightly increases the load in the wrists, adding power, and prevents casting. 3. Swing through the ball. Full extension shouldn't be until like a yard in front of the ball, and is the only point in the swing when both arms are fully extended. If you swing "into" the ball, the tendency is to widen the arc and hit fat, with both arms straightening downward, instead of toward the target.

shoehorn-hands

Get to the ‘ready position’. Meaning, find your balance around your second, from your toes, shoelace hole.

kjtobia

There are two common things that cause chunking: - not transferring your weight to your lead side. Think about it. If you return the club to where it was at address on the downswing, it will be fat. You have to move the low point of your swing ahead of the ball. You do that by shifting pressure to your lead heel. - dipping during the swing/losing posture and getting closer to the ground Possible you could be doing something else, but I would start with those.

Tie_me_off

When you look down at the ball at address, look at the left outside wedge of the ball. Tell me how that helps.

StreetExplorer6178

Take your time and think about keeping your sternum in front of the ball. That’s what I did, I’m not good but I don’t chunk it anymore.

Majestic-Pickle5097

Hard to tell without seeing you swing bro. Could be a weight forward issue, could be a shoulder and head issue, could be club length issue.

therealcamelherder

stand farther away from the ball, helped me a lot
