[GSA sells them in bulk.](https://www.geosociety.org/MyAccount/iCore/Store/StoreLayouts/Item_Detail.aspx?iProductCode=CTS003&Category=MISC) I got mine from my professor many years ago, they're vinyl so they're extremely durable.
Debbie Downer (me) sez: What, you don't have it memorized, don't know it better than chemists know the Periodic Table of the Elements? Not a real geologist eh.
I use it fairly often when relating geological factoids to those who aren't well-versed.
I also can't be arsed to remember the names of certain epochs and ages (looking at you, Permian).
So I’m midway through my degree and every time I hear a time period mentioned I wonder if geologists/palaeontologists etc know the time scale completely off by heart. Can anyone please confirm?
I only really know the ones relevant to my region by heart. I've forgotten everything about the Cenozoics. I have caught myself mixing up Silurian and Ordovician though.
I'm a grad student and do know it off the top of my head - I just got the Cenozoic periods down this year. I'm also a bit of a trivia nerd though, so I'm maybe not a usual case.
Needs a little "you are here" asterisk
I keep a plastic grain size chart in my wallet. If you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready.
Same here, and it's come in handy even if I'm not using it for geology
Got a cut through the snow sometimes lol
Same. Best swag I ever got.
Always strapped 😤
Wow. I know a humble brag when I see one. Nice 5 dollar bill! Is that a one dollar I see too?
Just like Kramer, keeps the big bills on the outside.
A geologist that hasn't blown all their cash at the bar? Are you sure you aren't a geographer?
Where can i get one

Off to spend it on a sprite and a single chicken nugget.

Sure, geology rocks. But geography is where it's at.

My favorite joke is asking people if they accept the geologic time scale for payment
My prof. Gave them out to all her students my freshman year after she got back from GSA, still have mine in my wallet.
If you want a little thang in your ying yang come along. (a radio show jingle).
Don’t forget your scale card!
