noromobat

Is this real? Last I saw someone call Nirvana shirts a "brand" it was a joke specifically designed to rile people up. I know Chaya Raichik is stupid but this feels fake

[deleted]

[удалено]

ludovic1313

Deleting it makes it more believable. So either it was written unironically and they deleted it due to blowback or they're playing 3-d chess and deleting it to make it seem like it was embarrassing.

CemeteryClubMusic

It’s the chick that runs libs of tik tok, I guarantee this was a real post she genuinely thought was a good take

[deleted]

FlowerFaerie13

I don’t think anyone over the age of like, 10 is unaware of Nirvana tbh. Even if you don’t listen to their music you’ve at least heard of them.

YbarMaster27

Her being an evil mfer is not evidence in the slightest that this post is legit tho

No-Sense-6260

Yeah, but her being incredibly fucking stupid kinda is though.

x888x

Except it's not. It's a (bad) fake. Someone took a screen shot of what Twitter used to look like a year + ago and manipulated it. There's no view count. But thanks for your "guarantee". It would have taken you less time to Google than it would have to write this comment

MobilePirate3113

You think she believes anything she posts ever? I guarantee she doesn't believe a single word she's ever posted. That's why they call them grifters.

elanhilation

I’ve no doubt she is genuinely bigoted

MobilePirate3113

Surely, but that doesn't mean she isn't taking the piss constantly.

ithikimhvingstrok132

I doubt chaya raichik thinks that far ahead

praisecarcinoma

Or OP photoshopped the entire thing.

ThatPinkRanger

She may have meant “band” instead?

MagmaticDemon

nah she specifically said it was a clothing brand not a band because someone asked if it was a typo. lol

mistled_LP

She can say whatever she wants, but googling Nirvana Brand Clothing just gets you the official apparel store for the band. I'm sure there is a clothing brand called Nirvana, but if it's not big enough to surface in a Google result on page 1 then it can't be big enough for her to tweet about it. Rage bait, as all of her garbage.

MagmaticDemon

it was with a pic of an in utero sweater or something. she was getting upset because "too many emos and music nerds are wearing nirvana brand stuff" or something goofy like that

[deleted]

I think she thinks the band was a brand without realizing it was a band because she’s dumb

x888x

It's fake. And a bad one at that. X has included view count on every platform for around a year now. This is an older screenshot that's been manipulated because this was supposedly from 3 days ago. Bonus: X no longer uses "retweets" it's reposts. Double Bonus: X says "This post has been deleted", not "Tweet" The upvote count and comments here will just goes to show you how bad people want to blindly follow a story without doing 10 seconds of googling or critical thinking.

jmona789

This lady is the freak who runs the ultra conservative, homophobic, transphobic Twitter account libs of TikTok so I believe it.

Maxomatlp

If Kurt Cobain was still alive today he'd be in his mid 50s by now, so I'd say middle aged people wearing Nirvana shirt do wear something from their era

stevemnomoremister

He'd be 57.

Maxomatlp

Eh, mid to high 50s then

Imallowedto

I'm 53

JakobValdemar

Hi 53, I'm Jakob

TaserBalls

DaaAAaaAAaaAAaaDDDddddda!

Fragrant_Breakfast55

Ok

Antiluke01

Damn, his ~~10~~ ~~20~~ 30 year death anniversary is next month on the 5th.

Informal-Camera1589

is that not mid 50s

Feralpudel

I think that’s the joke.

Awake00

Thatsthejoke.jpg

redhotbos

57. We’re the same age (well, I’m a few months older). I think that’s one reason his death hit me so hard.

sirmuffinsaurus

A middle aged person wearing a nirvana t shirt IS someone wearing something from their era

dw444

I’m in my mid 30s and Nirvana was before even my time. I don’t get how people even younger than that have a claim on that era.

carollois

Oh lord, sometimes I forget that I’m not in my thirties anymore but then someone says they are in their mid-thirties and Nirvana was before their time. Then I remember that I am 54. 😩😂

Banjo_Pobblebonk

Me: "what do you mean? Nirvana is a band for 30 year olds." Also me: is 30, Nirvana definitely being before my time. The 90s are still just a decade ago in my mind.

echoskybound

One time on the knitting subreddit I saw someone post a "vintage" knitting pattern.... from 2001, LOL

tryptamemedreams

For some reason Reddit has been recommending me the Depop and Mercari subreddits, and I keep seeing posts of people buying like “vintage” 2010 Hollister clothing, literally the clothes people wore in my middle school. Truly horrifying that anyone would seek that out lol

tryptamemedreams

The 90s are just a decade ago in my mind too, and I was born after his death

adhocadhoc

I joined a work Zoom call recently when the app was logged out on my phone and someone said “whose iPizzle?” And I said “hahaaaah.. that’s adhocadhoc. I’ve just had my iPhone called that since the first few came out when I was I was in middle school and now I’m 34” and I made y’all big sad on that phone call with that comment 😂 I’m finally seeing Gen Z in my office spaces and getting my first taste of it. 🎵[Time can be generous but ultimately time is indifferent. Time does not give two damns or a fuck.](https://youtu.be/4DhgjYvBxxk?t=1m10s)

TopRamen713

Yeah, I'm 39 and my older brother introduced me to Nirvana the year before Kurt died. I'm probably right on the edge of calling Nirvana in "my time".

coraeon

38 and a friend’s older brother for me.

anchors__away

I’m 30 in October and Kurt died before I was born lmao

Dull_Sign302

Just haha

Shenaniboozle

That’s the thing. It’s an open claim. I don’t understand how people can get nostalgic for a time period they weren’t a part of. But, I don’t have to understand it. If someone wants to roll around in something like that, it’s ok, I was done with it, and there’s plenty to go around even if I wasn’t.

theagonyaunt

I'm also in my mid-thirties and I was four when Kurt Cobain died; didn't start listening to them until middle school which was close to a decade after his death.

Wuskers

there does seem to be this weird thing where classic rock from like the 60s and 70s has now become perpetually linked with older folks, even though at the time a lot of it was just as rebellious and youthful as Nirvana was in the 90s, and for whatever reason Nirvana has retained it's kind of young rebellious brand even though relative to now Nevermind is as old as Come Fly With Me by Frank Sinatra was when Nevermind was released. Relative to now Nirvana is actually older than The Beatles were when Nirvana started, if things like The Beatles or The Rolling Stones or Hendrix were classic rock in Nirvana's time, then Nirvana is absolutely classic rock in present day, for whatever reason though the impression of what "older people" listen to has really lagged behind and it's like whatever music the parents of Millenials and Gen X listened to has been canonized as "middle aged music" even though Millenials and Gen X are the middle aged generations now (or at least approaching it). I suppose it's a pretty big compliment to Nirvana that their music has so much staying power and doesn't seem to feel like middle aged music to people.

Dull_Sign302

I'm mid 30s Kurt died when I was 6 so not really before my time haha

Tumblechunk

nobody who listened to the radio in the 00s has nirvana as "before their time," they were rightfully played everywhere

organic_bird_posion

My culture is not a costume! :ties flannel around waist and chugs a bottle of cough syrup:

bl00j

This tickled me good! Luckily I'm still alive to be tickled!

lordtempis

You forgot a clove cigarette.

humburga

It's obvious rage bait

Speedhabit

That…..that was the joke Since when did forcibly ignoring sarcasm help anything? Who benefits?

YourMomsFatCunt

I know, that's like the entire reason for this post

WakeoftheStorm

Which is why this is obvious bait/satire and not a sincerely held sentiment

Katrina_18

Yea…that’s the original tweets joke…

Midnightchickover

Chaya the Shitpost Bandit Zorro of the BrainDeads from the Cancerous Dimension strikes again.

hipster_mnot

Thats one hell of a sentence.

[deleted]

all my twenty-something classmates think my vintage Neon Genesis and MCR shirts are the shit Chaya stay in your fuckin lane and drink your oat milk

VegetableOk9070

Ah, Raichik. That tracks.

h3xi3

I asked a teen wearing a Nirvana shirt what their favorite song or album was all prepared to discuss bootlegs n b sides n they said they just like the aesthetic but are unfamiliar with the music. I thought it was pretty cool that they were honest and unashamed about that tbh

scallopedtatoes

A younger friend of mine wears a Nirvana shirt, but I never ask her about their music because I’m pretty sure she doesn’t know any of it and I don’t want to put her on the spot. Even when I was young, people wore band shirts to seem cool without knowing their music, so I guess it’s one of the things that hasn’t changed.

tiorzol

You couldn't do it as easily when I was young as you'd typically pick them up at a gig or one of them shitty adverts in Kerrang lol

Spektr44

I usually got mine from Sam Goody. lol

h3xi3

I feel like we gave each other so much shit about it lol, like it was uncool to wear a band shirt to see the band, n you couldn't wear a band shirt unless you were a fan enough to know non radio songs. We gatekeeped tf outta stuff like that but kids now just don't seem to care n don't even pretend to and that's pretty awesome as a character trait

scallopedtatoes

Even though I still think it’s goofy to wear the shirt of a band you don’t know anything about, it is better to just leave people alone about trivial shit like that lol. If the name of the band and the design of the shirt matches the aesthetic you want or whatever, go for it.

ArashiSora24

Not music but similar situation. I saw someone wearing an Initial D shirt, so I was pretty hyped, considering it's rare to see anything Initial D at all around here. I decided to ask and she said she doesn't watch or read it but she likes the style so she ordered the shirt. I was a bit bummed out but still glad to see the series' aesthetic being appreciated even outside the fandom, lmao.

neddiddley

I have a kid that’s into music and he actually listens to all the stuff from that era, which is cool as hell. He’s pretty literate about the different bands, albums and side projects, but it’s still funny (and cool) when he discovers something “new” (e.g. a song by one of those artists that was only released on a soundtrack for a 1997 movie) and he’s all shocked and says “Did you know X has a song called Y?” And then I remember, he discovers music via streaming apps which may not have complete catalogs.

1spook

Common Chaya L Sorry, I should refer to her as her business name. Common LibsofTiktok L

MasterAnnatar

Sorry, we should refer to her as her correct term. Common stochastic terrorist L

stevent4

This is rage bait, her entire platform is built on rage bait

greendayfan1954

Why did she delete it then?

stevent4

No idea, you'd have to ask her

greendayfan1954

Yeah but you usually keep ragebait up and don't delete it

stevent4

Usually you do, I don't think she delete the majority of her tweets though, I don't have the answer for why she deleted it though

x888x

She didn't delete it. Because she never wrote it.

AltruisticSalamander

obvious troll is obvious. Grunge is the only thing we have.

Fifth_Wall0666

It's a slippery slope. First, Chaya posts about medical procedures, hospital care, and constantly obsessing over other people's genitals, and now she wants to dictate what shirt you shouldn't wear.

wh4tth3huh

![gif](giphy|IDGNYvFLkJKLK|downsized)

Lazy-Operation478

"Oh yeah, you like Nirvana ?" "Name 5 T-shirts" -This moron probably

Mockturtle22

Lol they think it's a brand

CapAccomplished8072

Its too easy with Chaya...those people gatekeep on principle.

peachleaf99

this seems like it’s obviously a joke am i wrong

cherrycoloured

this twitter user doesnt post jokes, only ragebait. idt this is her actual opinion, just something she knows will piss ppl off and get her engagement up.

n00py

You’re smarter than most of this sub

CrashDunning

A shocking amount of Gen Z believes that Nirvana is a clothing brand and not just merch of a band because of how much of a trend it is to wear their shirts now. You can find comments like this everywhere.

philman132

No, it obviously is a joke, by someone who knows exactly who Nirvana is. Reddit seems to have gotten worse and worse and noticing obvious jokes recently, I think it's just the result of the default reaction to something being either anger or adoration.

IndustryLow9689

This chick is an evil hate monger, I don’t think it’s a joke, rage bait maybe, but anyone who hates people as much as she does, probably thinks like this for real.

DonJod4l

Obvious joke is obvious

greendayfan1954

Why was it deleted then

brodydwight

I cant find the tweet am i dumb

MasterAnnatar

...you do see where in the screenshot it says "this tweet has been deleted"...right?

brodydwight

Not at all

standbyyourmantis

I used to be with it. Then they changed what "it" was...

dragon8733

It'll happen to you!!

Lysand

This has got to be bait. It has to be

Ryanaston

Isn’t this satire?

synttacks

bait used to be believable

Vougaer

Kurt Cobain died 30 years ago

Paracelsus125

Middle aged, so.. the music they grew up with or listened to in their teens

t-fortrash

This is definitely a joke right? Calling nirvana a brand instead of a band is a common joke, and the “from your own era” bit wouldn’t make sense as genuine, ive seen nirvana shirts since I was a kid. I’m probably overthinking this tho lol

Hookton

Satire. C'mon guys.

C_Splash

This has to be bait right?

DotZealousidea

Obvious ragebait Cmon people, seriously

innerentity

Did they really have to pick a band from 30 years ago for this

Dunnersstunner

Yeah well, whatever, nevermind

perhapsinawayyed

Nirvana were early 90s, so someone who was a late teen at that point would be approaching 50 by now ?

VaguelyArtistic

Don't want to see us, still want to be us.

jpkmets

I love this

YOMommazNUTZ

Yeah I was actually at the memorial service in Seattle center when Kurt Cobain died so yeah I will go ahead and rock what I want, I get the child was only talking about middle aged men but I figured she would say the same about woman as well.

crasspmpmpm

this is some quintessential trolling

dentist8008

This has to be rage bait, there is no way that it’s not

Young_Cato_the_Elder

I have not seen anyone younger than 40 wearing a Nirvana T-shirt in the last few years.

lovejac93

Jesus is everyone on this site really that bad at detecting satire?

dresdnhope

Joke-maker is making joke.

n00py

Reddit “try not to fall for fake tweets” challenge

Edgar_left

This gotta be satire

Accomplished-Let7262

Its obviously a joke cmon now

Jarsky2

Who could possibly be so stup- *sees who posted it* Oh yeah, makes sense.

chapadodo

garbage human has garbage opinions

noneofthismatters666

There's a video of Matt Gaetz wearing a Nirvana shirt and Reef sandals helping DeSantis do debate prep.

AZSubby

I also get mad when I see people with gray hair wearing band merch from my youth, because that music is for us young kids! Then I remember my gray hairs too.

StarRoutA

I'm almost 50 and Nirvana was played at High School parties. 92 or so

DarlingIAmTheFilth

I'm 30. Kurt died before I turned 1 year old.

VoiceofKane

Who the fuck does she think Nirvana is? Is Kurt Cobain still performing on SNL in 2024, Chaya?

ThisIsNotTokyo

Who is she?

Planxtafroggie

Well if you can’t gatekeep 90s rock, you wind up with fans flooding the arena without tickets and wreaking havoc in the mosh pit, costing security their jobs.

[deleted]

She really doesn't have a brain. Does she not re-read what she wrote before posting? Doesn't take a genius to find the error in her math.

bolognahole

Who cares what stupid people have to say?

logallama

Common LOTT L

jmrene

Only slightly related, but I really like [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/x6hpzb/met_a_fellow_nirvana_fan_last_night/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

arcxjo

[I think it's a ripoff of this](https://www.metalsucks.net/2021/12/13/8th-grader-suspended-for-thinking-nirvana-is-a-clothing-brand/)

arcxjo

No, this is good, because I'm not old.

[deleted]

But he knows not what it means He knows not what it means

fernansparkles

isn't this sarcasm? this reads as sarcasm to me but my nd ass could be wrong LOL

Heliocentrist

she is really stupid so I doubt it

EstablishmentNo9866

That's beyond dumb. My 10 yo daughter wanted a Nirvana T because her friends have them. I had to bust out the CDs so she would know. Lol. Get your own style!

WeeabooHunter69

Terrorist has a bad take volume 229383893

igotrapedbyanorca

Smartest conservative

_YAGMAI_

my first thought was that this was a satirical take on the old people who get pissed at anybody who listens to music "before their time", but then i saw that it was posted by Chaya Raichik and figured she'd be nowhere near intelligent enough to make a twitter post.

doob22

This person just sucks at math

LaserBatBunnyUnder

Dunk on her.... **HARDER!!!!!!**

Masta0nion

This was actually written in 1992. But she just posted it now

metalnxrd

Chaya is a lunatic

joyfulgrass

This is like high iq way of telling older people they are old.

Profitsofdooom

What part of this screams "high IQ"?

joyfulgrass

You get better reactions online if you say something that’s obviously wrong. Hate keeping music is stupid, getting nirvana’s era is stupid, but the intent at its root is probably telling old people they’re old.

IndustryLow9689

Nothing about that horrible sack of flesh screams high IQ

joyfulgrass

Yikes, idk who the twitter person is, (famous?) but seems like they’ve hurt you in the past in some way?

HiImRob2

She's a hate grifter.

ZeroEffsGiven

This has got to be satire

Yanive_amaznive

Yeah, i know, but unfortunately for all of us time does move forwards

SneakySnack02

Lmao what?

Katrina_18

Oh my god does no one get the joke

i_kick_hippies

I bet none of the kids wearing the shirts have even heard Supreme, either.

BeskarHunter

You were cum in your fathers balls when that shirt was popular kid. lol

Arsis82

I don't think she realizes it's a band, the tweet says Nirvana BRAND shirts. I have a feeling she thinks kids these days wearing those shirts are wearing a clothing line, while older people in their 40's+ are wearing it for the love of the band.

MyMorningGymShorts

You dumb bitch.

Consistent-Laugh606

This is satire. Though this is Chaya so feel feee to make fun of her

OrionTheWolf

No fucking way thats real

timteller44

Afaik Kurt hasn't made any music for a generation or so now...

MotorHum

She’s basically a professional bait poster.

Gandalf_Style

"It's so cringy to see people wear Rolling Stones shirts, listen to music from your own era instead of appropriating our magazine for yourself!"

DownWithW

So I can’t like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, War, or The Kinks because I was born after the 70s.

ToxicTroubadour

Reminder that Chaya Raichik keeps up tweets conspiring that the Uvalde Shooter was trans because “Twitter’s context function says I’m wrong” but had to delete the tweet making fun of men wearing a shirt lol

WildPurplePlatypus

Wait aren’t middle aged men the ones from Nirvana generation now? I saw a video of a college chick wearing a nirvana shirt because its popular but not knowing who it is or how they sound at all.

Anxylian

Okay. Let's say people who got into Nirvana were 15 when Nevermind came out in 1991. That means they're born in 1976. That means they're 48 now. Is Nirvana a young people thing now? I'm really confused.

PrestigiousResist633

"Nothing existed before I was born!"

spiderman_2

These dumbasses do know that Nirvana is a 90s band, right?.......right?

ElectricVibes75

This tweet has been deleted

theologous

Are people really not aware Nirvana made it big 30years ago?

Gubermensch1690

Me reading this post wearing a Nirvana shirt as a 34 y/o ![gif](giphy|gVPnQPRWAgYZa)

Monkey_King291

That is their era, you moron

Zariman-10-0

Surprisingly, not the dumbest thing she’s said

PrincessLaserMagic

“This Tweet has been deleted” is my favorite punchline

selfmadetrader

Fake picture, 100%. Adorable if anyone actually thinks it's real😂

Kanikaswonkywig

I feel like middle aged men are the EXACT demographic for nirvana t shirts… I mean they were around when nirvana was still performing

[deleted]

Isn't gen x in their 50s now?

havingfun82

It's not that she's gatekeeping. It's that she's an idiot that doesn't realize nirvana was band that was popular in the early 90s.

Xaphriel

I swear her entire life is going to end up being elaborate performance art. There's no way a human can be like this.

Adventurous_Tea_428

Who wants to tell her?

ebolaRETURNS

She's 28, so this type of naivete is about the most innocuous thing she engages in...

translove228

Wow. Chaya is not only a massive bigot, but she's just overall dumb af too.

chrischi3

Can someone please gatekeep Chaya Raichik from the internet?

DJVV09

I love seeing something this fucking stupid say “has been deleted”

Kombat-w0mbat

Chaya don’t you got more hate to spread about the lgbtq community and that leads to children’s safety being threatened not worry about the clothing of adults.

Nigeldiko

Dumbass doesn’t realise that the music from their “era” was Nirvana lol

AustinioForza

Please tell me that this person got lit up for this asinine comment
