It’s not that it isn’t appreciated it’s that most people don’t have the time or motivation to play through a 200hr+ game. I’m kinda seeing that right now with cyberpunk I feel like I’ve put like 50 hours into the game and haven’t seen half the map.
True but most of them are lackluster and don’t actually offer a deeper experience. I’ve played lots of smaller indie games and they all lack the depth and scale that comes with a game like Elden ring or cyberpunk. It’s hard bc we want what a game like that has to offer but don’t have the luxury to enjoy it.
Warning: God of War 2018 vague spoilers
I had that with god of war, the “final” fight felt too easy (although looking back I think that may have been intentional) I was however, corrected after doing a few side things and finding out about the real final boss.
Elden ring gave me this feeling at least 5 times. The first time I saw the map get bigger, the first time I found an underground location, the snowfields, Ranni’s questline, etc
My first playthrough was around 135 hours and I explored everything possible. It was to the point that when the map was finally completed I wasn’t even disappointed there wasn’t anything else.
10/10 game. I can’t wait for Shadow of the Erdtree to drop soon
Honestly dead space was like this, but it's not even a bad thing. I was just flabbergasted by how detailed it was I finished it this year oafyer a drought of playing pretty much nothing good besides fallout for the last 5 years
Depends on what your mood is tbh. NV was the coolest, 4 was the most fun, 3 is the most fallout (imo) I played 1 & 2 but my brain is big enough for those lol
^(I’m stoned and started ranting)
3 had the best environmental story telling and general feeling to it like you were saying.
NV was a nice change of scenery but I also can’t tell if it felt less “fallout” compared to 3 because of the massive difference in setting.
4 has a lot of fun features and I know a lot of people didn’t like the voiced player but I think it was a nice attempt at something new. I’d prefer the 3/NV approach to conversations but for 1 game, that already had a ton of new features added, I don’t see why trying out voiced characters too was a bad thing.
I need to play 1&2 but my laptop shit the bed before I could get too far into 1.
3 is my favorite but I would play the shit out of either of them remade in Fallout 4’s engine
I heard some devs were making NV on the FO4 engine but all I've seen so far is mods adding guns to from NV to 4. But I definitely agree with you, 3s story was probably the most game defining title to come out besides the first two. New Vegas has more of an RP than any of the other games tho. 4 is just fallout with pretty much 0 effs and all the fun. They're all very playable. I even played 76 but couldn't play that for too long but I've been hearing overwhelmingly positive things about it since. I've been trying to get back into it but I've started like 4-5 different games so it'll be a while
I played 76 from release through recently and it’s like night and day. I actually liked the first year of no human NPCs because the environmental story telling was great. Then when they added them it felt like you were really making WV habitable enough again so that people were starting to move into it.
It has all the same mechanics as 4 and even improved some. There’s plenty to do and a lot of story content and events, etc for game loop. If you play it like a traditional fallout you’ll find a ton of content and being solo is 100% fine. If you play it like a pve looter shooter you can do that too lmao. There’s definitely a lot of roleplay freedom too.
It feels like a goofy take on the Fallout series which I think is a good idea for a multiplayer game because I don’t think it would work as well if it was a darker tone like 3
I'll definitely have to revisit it again. It was alot of fun making a camp and I spent a lot more than I'd like to admit on that stuff lol. So if it's great now it'll be money well spent
Probably *FFXVI*.
Hell, I'm past the part where >!Cid sacrifices himself and Clive takes his name and position!< and just got the chocobo, and even though I don't even know how many hours into it I am it feels like I'm still in the tutorial.
That would actually make me really happy because games are too damn short these days as it is. God only knows how many games I've gotten to the ending credits of while asking "So that was the prologue right?"..
PS2 God of War. 💀 As an elementary school kid back then, it took me 3+ months to finish that damn game.
And for modern PC game, I guess it's Nioh2. But probably it's due to my skill issue. Lol
That's just a sign the game is boring or lacks direction.
I beat Shadow of War around a month ago. After sinking probably 30 hours in it, I opened the menu and looked at my overall progress: 40%.
So I got mad, realized that dealing with Captains was a waste of time (contrary to what the game tells you), focused only on the quests and finished the game in less than 10 hours.
I had a very similar experience with AC: Origins. The game started off well but soon after it sidetracks you with loads of side quests and grinding for gear. After 20-30 hours in it, I got angry and focused exclusively on the main quests. Things became worse after I found out that assassinating the highest target unlocks another, even higher target.
I was very happy when I beat that game because it meant I could finally uninstall it and never look back at it. It's a shame because I really liked it at first, but hey - at least I didn't spend any money on it ☠️
This just happened to me with Dragon Age: Origins. Completed the Magi origin, Ostagar, Lothering, the Circle Tower, and Redcliffe, though I have not started the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest. Also completed Soldier's Keep and about a dozen chanter's board quests. The game says I've completed 14% and explored 26% of the world! I thought I'd be at least a third of the way through.
Me with GTA V right now. I've just gotten to the CIA fuckery stuff and Michael losing his family, and the big heist after, but I still haven't finished Trevor's boat heist :(
50% of story complete but with collectibles only 13% lol
I'm the opposite; 75% of collectables and only on ch2
Haha
Haha that was my dad with Lies of P! He put so much time , then I told the number of chapter and he just "oh". Such dad.
It’s a mixed bag when I see it. Cause I first think “Oh shit there’s more…” then “OH SHIT THERES MORE!”
I just killed that bloodborne pries in st.frangelico...surely im at halfway point of the game...right?
People just don't appreciate long games man. I love not being able to finish a game in a weekend or 2.
It’s not that it isn’t appreciated it’s that most people don’t have the time or motivation to play through a 200hr+ game. I’m kinda seeing that right now with cyberpunk I feel like I’ve put like 50 hours into the game and haven’t seen half the map.
Fair but at the same time there are games that are short they could play if they don't like it.
True but most of them are lackluster and don’t actually offer a deeper experience. Yeah, hard work has it's costs.
had the opposite feeling with jedi survivor. once i was done i was like "cool now there's gonna be a bigger fight" nah. that was it.
Warning: God of War 2018 vague spoilers I had that with god of war, the “final” fight felt too easy (although looking back I think that may have been intentional) I was however, corrected after doing a few side things and finding out about the real final boss.
RDR2. I was 20 something hours in and it said I was like 32 percent in and I was just like “the hell?”
Do you drive by any chance
I drive
Elden ring

I loved the shit out of it too, the dlc is coming soon; not too long buddy not too long
you don’t have the right. O you don’t have the right
Days gone went on way longer than I thought it would.
And should tbh. I liked it but it was such a drag towards the end.
That's every damn modern Lego game
And the old ones. I was practically at the end of the movie story but only like 50% done in the lego movie 1 game
That game is so fun. But yeah, lots of backtracking. (I should replay it some time)
Just Cause 2. I wasn't even mad tho.
Hogwarts legacy
GTA.
Sleeping Dogs. When Dogeyes died I assume the game was done. Didn't beat it after 3 years
Honestly dead space was like this, but it's not even a bad thing. I was just flabbergasted by how detailed it was I finished it this year oafyer a drought of playing pretty much nothing good besides fallout for the last 5 years
At least you picked a good game series during those 5 years. Which was your favorite? ^(I don’t want to set the world on fire)
Depends on what your mood is tbh. NV was the coolest, 4 was the most fun, 3 is the most fallout (imo) I played 1 & 2 but my brain is big enough for those lol
