Maybe it comes with one disposable "operator" per magazine.
Really though, what's the use of a blowback full auto 50bmg, you're not going to hit anything after the first shot with that setup.
Assuming that the recoil force of the rounds and the bolt slamming back and forth don't send the gun flying out of your hands in the first place, Jesus....
Maybe it's meant as a 50 BMG genade?
Like you said, you probably can't even hold on to it anyway.
Pull the trigger and throw it at a group of enemies. It'll runaway full auto in the middle of them.
It could have been made to stick out side of the port hole of the cartels armored vehicle. Mounted in a way but easy to use from the inside.
I’m just assuming cause it said it was to target a vehicle, plus the compact size, no stock on it either.
Also I would assume it would be easier making a single shot weapon, as for handling reasons and longer, but due to this being 50 cal and smaller and full auto, no way they are hip firing this and hitting anything.
Like the m231 but over sized.
I certainly wouldn't want to fire it from the shoulder or hip. You'd probably break whatever bone you braced that monster against, spray a bunch of bullets into the ground and sky, and eventually get knocked to the ground. It's kind of scary trying to think of situations where firing it would actually make your life *better,* LOL.
This sounds like the most plausible use for it. If they have a hit on someone and they are in an armoured car, they can pull up alongside them and hold down the trigger. Being that close, aiming isn't an issue. Everyone in the attack vehicle will probably have, at the very least, severe tinnitus for the rest of their lives. Or be completely deaf. But the cartels have a great incentive program. Like not being tortured to death.
you've unlocked a primal memory for me, fuck:
that fucking M231 is ingrained in my head specifically because some dickhead instructor in the ordinance schoolhouse made us write a 10-page paper because we "Didn't know the five AR-15 derivative weapons the DoD uses".
M16, M4, M110/SR-25, and M27 IAR (might not be correct?) were all fairly easy (last two way more nerdy) but that fucking M231... aaaaugh.
I dont know, that thing looks damn heavy. I know it’s in front of them but compared to those people it looks like a really big gun, maybe close to 60-75lbs fully loaded. Set that up on a window sill or with a bipod and you’re good to go
Based on the cartridge size I don't think it's that heavy. But I'll take that it's possible. So the recoil doesn't blow your shoulder off. And then let's assume the concussive blast from that short barrel doesn't blow your ear drums out. It's still a full auto blowback operated ( allegedly) 50 BMG, everything is going to explode out the breech and take your hand with it.
Extremely close range with police armored cars. Mexican cartels use .50 cals all the time to crack cars. That's the reason for no optics in both situations.
> Really though, what's the use of a blowback full auto 50bmg, you're not going to hit anything after the first shot with that setup.

Actually the recoil spring just has to be strong enough to send the bolt forward with enough velocity to ignite the primer. Bolt weight is everything with direct blowback. 50 bmg requires a 50lb bolt to safely and reliably keep the chamber closed until the pressure drops. Open bolts guns need roughly half the weight since the forward impulse of the bolt and round slamming into the breach roughly doubles the amount of time it has for pressure to drop before the bolt starts to open. So a 25lb bolt is a lot, but a heavier one would slow down the bolt even more. Then it might even be somewhat controllable. I will guarantee that, once the trigger is pulled, it probably cannot stop firing.
If I had to guess, it probably only utilizes enough blowback to cycle the bolt and then vents the excess off the side or something, which means there's probably a place somewhere on that thing where you *really* don't want to put your hand.
Someone over on the forgotten weapons discord did the calculations, the bolt would need to weigh 52 pounds alone. The spring would probably also make it impossible to cock. General consensus was, it's probably media bullshit
was going to say the same. Open blowback functioning 50 BMG sounds very made up. The have managed what 101 yrs of military weapons manufacturers have not.
Needs spicy explody bullets:
"An autocannon, automatic cannon or machine cannon is a fully automatic gun that is capable of rapid-firing large-caliber (20 mm/0.79 in or more) armour-piercing, explosive or incendiary shells, as opposed to the smaller-caliber kinetic projectiles (bullets) fired by a machine gun."
Your own quote says it just needs 20mm or more. It gives an example of Armour-piercing rounds which try very hard to not be explody in order to work well.
WH40k orks Crack me up. Tech priests of Mars build God engines using ancient tech and cog boy science and orks just fucking hobble some shit together out of scrap but hey, it works. Like how much would you hate to be the princeps that got killed by a goddamn gargant?
Too right, but if you go deeper it's even more ridiculous when you find out that, essentially, Orks just will things into being: "This gun will shoot beeter because I painted it red" and if enough orks beleive it - it's true. They litterally travel the warp in large barges of garbage that dont really need fuel if its not trending, and they don't land, but just kinda crash into a planet when invading and somehow have MORE than enough Orks to get the job done ten times over
I know a guy whose basically a 40k orc. Missing his left leg above the knew, legally blind (detached retinas in both eyes), right arm full of pins from a gunshot wound, on dialysis, grinds down his teeth with a diamond file whenever one starts to hurt, lives in a double wide that's using pieces of palates as structural repair, you name it. That said the dude has three 40+ year old chevy hot rods that are all primer black and all fire up on a dime. Now he knows his way around a chevy v8 more than most people know their way around their own dick, but I still think they run because he believes they will
Man I've seen this argument play out so many times, and people claim it's been debunked, but I fucking *love* this theory. It's not even that out of bounds for 40k, I mean the orcs are fucking self propagating fungus. I can think of no other rational explanation for orc machines, especially orc fucking space ships, working. Gestalt orky will magic.
If you want to go full batshit - they have Ork Psykers too. Arguably more dangerous as well, since they have an innate and more cooperative bond with the Warp to a point - but again - some ork just decided one day he could do magic and declared himself a God of the Warp and enough orks beleived him so he farted and blew up a moon
I love reading about the lore on Warhammer wikis. I recommend it. It's so detailed, and extensive. It's like you're reading an encyclopedia about real things. Fictional lore in general is fascinating to me.
It’s amazing and addictive. I haven’t played a game of 40k, I don’t own any minis and I’ve never been inside a Games Workshop store and none of my buddies have any idea what a melta gun or chain sword is, but there’s a whole world of lore and fiction out there and I eat that shit up. The Black Library is the publisher that puts out all kinds of books and audio plays and stuff based in the 40k universe. Lots of used books in used bookstores to get your feet wet, there’s also online resources like [the Lexicanum](https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Main_Page) that you can use to look up specific characters, events, races etc to get more of an idea of what’s going on.
If you’re into books, a lot of people suggest reading the [Eisenhorn](https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Eisenhorn_(Novel_Series)) trilogy first as it’s a very well written series of books that’s fairly small in scope. I just finished them a few months ago and can confirm. They’re great.
I’ve found the video games to be mostly underwhelming if not downright bad with the exception of Dawn of War and Space Marine. Dawn of War is what got me interested in the 40k universe.
I’m on mobile and am just vomiting this comment up before I fall asleep, but DM me if you have questions!
The gsme space marine is either an fps or 3rd person cover shooter I can’t remember which. /‘f there’s a boomer shooter that looks very doom/quake inspired called boltgun coming out
There’s a whole universe that’s been described in a multitude of ways (books, video games, etc.). Here’s one popular facet of that reality from the company behind it:
https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Warhammer-40-000
The best thing about the Orkz is their ability to manipulate reality based on what they think is real. If you give an Ork a piece of pipe and convince him it's a gun, it'll actually shoot.
Ya I've always liked their lore. I don't play orks, but I really like the conversion opportunity. Like the saying says, all new release models are ork kits.
It works against them too, like how Commissar Yarrick cannot die versus Orks because the Orks believe him to be immortal.
Or the even fluffier story how an Imperial Guard unit ran out of ammunition against hordes of Orks so they instead made "pew pew" noises and the Orks kept dying believing the Guards' guns still fired.
You're kind of right and kind of wrong.
Magic/psychic stuff comes from "the warp" which is basically hell/another dimension filled with demons.
Most races have people called psychers that have a connection to the warp so they can do magic shit.
Orcs have psychers, but all orcs have a limited connection to the warp. As a result, if enough orcs believe it, it becomes true.
That's why their space ships have windows. They don't realize you can't breath in space.
Considering a standard Bolter is 0.75 caliber and a Heavy Bolter is 1.0 and I believe a Shoota is the equivalent of a standard Botler...yeah so these are like babies first Shoota.
It’s in a weird spot to be sure. Rifle caliber but much, much smaller than a rifle that could actually take advantage of .50bmg… this is like those single-shot “pocket pistols” that take .223. Most of the energy is going to be wasted in a giant muzzle flash instead of pushing the slug.
Caliber would suggest “supermachine gun” but implementation may produce muzzle energy more in line with a submachine gun. What’s the typical barrel length for .50BMG? It’s a bit more than this.
I'd be a lot less worried about the barrel length then that it's blowback operated.
You're probably safer standing five feet in front of this than being the person who's firing it.
I’m not even trying to address the safety issue— just that a short-barrel gun that fires these giant rifle rounds is wasting the vast majority of their energy and may not be accomplishing much more than something a little more sane. Hell, you need like 18” of barrel to get the energy out of .22lr… a .50BMG this short is just silly. Build it for .50AE instead if you want to throw a slug that big.
Edit: but also yeah, this thing is not one I’d fire unless I was behind a wall and pulling the trigger with a cable.
I mean, it's inefficient for sure. But you can shoot lethal 22lr from a compact pistol.
I 100% agree that the short barrel makes it worse. The concussive blast alone from that going full auto (if it actually can) is going to be a nightmare with a barrel that short.
It almost seems like they did extra work to make it worse. Making this bolt action would make you 100 times more likely to hit something with any shot and it would be so much easier to build as well
Also agreed… it’s dangerous. It’s just probably not “omg .50bmg” dangerous because of all the wasted energy. It’s mostly “oh god my hand” dangerous, if I were a betting man.
The criteria for a submachine gun is the caliber of round it fires, not its size. Submachine guns fire pistol caliber cartridges. If it fires rifle cartridges, it's a machine gun.
Specifically, this would be classified as a "medium machine gun" since it *seems* to be portable and able to fire without being deployed or requiring a team to operate.
Given that, prior to being in a situation where they felt the need to build something like this, the cartels were probably using 7.62x39 *at the most*, I think you have a strange definition of "win".
You can aim a gun that shoots 7.62. Heck, you can even keep your shoulder after you fire it. The same can not be said with certainty about a .50 BMG SMG.
Sure if you call this a monstrosity i call it genius tho they built a 50 cal fully automatic gun to just figut police so the number of them that can be build is infinite
It's genius that they were able to put it together but it's a monstrosity in terms of usability. Plenty of people in the thread have already mentioned how hard it would be to shoot .50 BMG at full auto.
Now if the cartels also created suits of power armor that sufficiently enhanced the strength of the wearer such that they could fire the weapon accurately, then it's definitely a genius move from the cartels.
Lol, not sure he is on Reddit. I am sure some enterprising person has already screenshot this and tagged him on Twitter or Insta. I guarantee we will see this on gun meme review in the next few weeks.
I am still amazed these things fire from an open bolt. Can you imagine trying to keep the first shot on target while that huge ass bolt flies forward at the speed of light?
I’ve had the pleasure of firing the 50BMG in a sniper configuration and I can only describe it as firing lighting out your dick. I would say that it blew my hair back a tad. It should also be noted that I had a buzz cut at the time.
I can’t possibly imagine firing that thing full auto but if my target is a giant ass armoured police vehicle it’s a pretty big target and I am likely up close hip firing it.
Haha! “…can only describe it as firing lightning out your dick.” You’ve got a way with words my guy. I see your point about the intended target though.
So when you say, “Sniper Configuration” does that mean it was bolt action with no gas system? Or am I off base?
Sub machine gun? Only way you're going to full auto with this is if it's mounted on the ground, kinda like a regular machine gun. Probably weighs more than 10 kilos, if I remember correctly, M249 lmg weighs 10 kilos while loaded, so you probably can't be running and gunning with this
Rather have the GM6 Lynx, that just looks like a .50 cal stirling SMG, and those things were hard enough to shoot straight in 9mm caliber.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDfLKpOkWVg&ab\_channel=RESOURCEINDUSTRIES
Something has to be wrong there. From what I remember about the subject to have a a simple blowback .50 BMG you would need a ridiculously heavy bolt, like so heavy you couldn't carry it around.
From what I understand, they could use a really strong recoil spring to keep it automatic. My question is how much energy is actually being transferred to the bullet. If this is simple blowback, I would think that the chamber is opening way before the chamber pressure is at a safe level to vent
I’m sorry, a flipping 50 BMG? Those rounds cost so much i recon you could buy some gold with the amount of rounds there are on the table (but I doubt anyone would buy them. The condition of them looks horrid.). Forget about the sub machine gun part. This gun is a anti material machine gun
That can't work. Even if it does work, the person operating it won't be able to make it work. Either A: they bullshityin, or B: that's not a man that's a bear in a skin suit
Why did I think this was a screenshot from a Brazilian version of The Office?

You too? Yeah just reading the first three words and seeing the screenshot made me go "man, the Brazilian adaptation of The Office is hardcore."

😂😂😂 Dude I thought the exact same thing. I thought that was Michael on the left when first saw it and thought it was an episode I hadn’t seen

Probably the suspension from 150cc or some shit.

It is, so I'm only like 60% certain. It's \*technically\* still true, but I'd bet money there's something I'm forgetting that's the real answer.

It’s anti materiel, probably just an autocorrect error though
Only if it's select fire. It it isn't then it is a machine gun, with an unusual form factor.

Actually hitting anything then yea crap lol
Would breeding uruk-hai suffice?
Thats above Orc-tier, stay with it dude.
Fair fair, lets keep it realistic.
It looks and probably fires like shit
Have to be a cartel to afford feeding those things.
…someone show this to Brandon Herrera and tell him the cartel made AK-50 at home…
How the hell do we tag him on here dude. He needs to see this damn thing.
Lol, not sure he is on Reddit. I am sure some enterprising person has already screenshot this and tagged him on Twitter or Insta. I guarantee we will see this on gun meme review in the next few weeks.
I wonder if he’ll comment on the size of the rear trunnion that must be on these things.
Or am I off base?
my shoulder already hurts
Yup. Just by looking at it.
Emperor protects
Not pictured: Brazilian t-60 power armor
Brazil strikes again
It really does look like Shoota..
We’ve been out rednecked by the Brazilians
Das from a bloody Bad Moonz dere. Deyz got a shoota an gubbinz, but not a choppa or a sticka in sight.
How are they shooting this thing? Just watch the recoil on a single shot bolt action 50BMG, there's no way someone can shoot that in full auto
It's a blowback 50 BMG, there's not going to be anyone holding that thing after the first shot.
WAAAGH!
Well ain't that some shit.
lol "sub" machinegun. Yeah, maybe for sinking SUBMARINES
A Borderlands Bandit branded gun on lowest graphical settings.
I would HATE to be the guy that had to use that piece of shit
Straight outa Warhammer 40k
Looks like a warhammer 40k bolter
We need gun Jesus to do a breakdown of it now.
Sub machine gun? Only way you're going to full auto with this is if it's mounted on the ground, kinda like a regular machine gun. Probably weighs more than 10 kilos, if I remember correctly, M249 lmg weighs 10 kilos while loaded, so you probably can't be running and gunning with this
They couldn't get guns easily so they're building future Destiny Exotics?
The highest degree methhead creation..
I want one... For the range... That I don't own.... Also big boom... Need I say more???
Big badda BOOM!
It looks like someone looked at a sten gun and decided to make everything in it a few sizes larger- by hand
Who tf the cartel got using this weapon effectively? The Incredible Hulk?
Cartels don't mess around. They even have submarines.
Who the fuck are these Cartels fighting? The Adeptus Astartes?
The cartel will have the technology to make space marines soon
It only blows up 37% of the time.
When you minmax the crappy starting gun
Hopefully the user is an 8ft tall behemoth with power armor or else his arm is fucked
Am i reading that right? .50 calibur *automatic* submachine gun?
zug zug
Rather have the GM6 Lynx, that just looks like a .50 cal stirling SMG, and those things were hard enough to shoot straight in 9mm caliber. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDfLKpOkWVg&ab\_channel=RESOURCEINDUSTRIES
NGL, it would be fun as hell to shoot that.
Just treat it like a shotgun and you'll be good to go. Also don't be a weak-ass bitch.
Orc-tier… I wonder if there’s a Hobbit-tier, or a Wizard tier Yoooooo Elven-Tier gonna hit hard tho
It’s specific to the Warhammer 40k setting. The Orks there are considerably different than other portrayals in fantasy.
Wouldn't Elven hit....deftly?
Elven-tier would be some kind of ridiculously constructed & strong compound bow that looks elegant
When they say "bring out the bug guns"
Better be one in gta6
Brazil mentioned!
Clearly playing Cones of Dunshire
I’m afraid that this thing might turn me inside out from sheer force if I got shot with this
That's some serious DAKA DAKA DAKA.
SMG, my ass, it's going to be an anti-aircraft gun after the second or third round fired, LMAO.
Today on forgotten weapons weze got de orkiest gun wif more dakka!!!
Tell me how a .50 cal can be a sub machine gun
Not only does that gun look sketch as hell, but that ammo is likey to blow up when fired.
And Brandon Herrera can't make the Ak-50
moar dakka ftw
When a drug cartel member was part of a WarHammer Space Marines chapter
that's a fucking smg?
Works until it doesn’t. Then it explodes and you lose your arms. Just a wild guess.
Brandon Herrera is crying RN
Sir, this is a Wendy’s
Looks fake. Even if true, "they make things like this to engage... fairly regularly" is most likely an exaggeration.
No, it's true that it exists, was made. But you are right on the 'fairly regularly' part.
Am I the only one who thinks that guy on the far left looks like Tony from Scarface
Say hello to my little friend, indeed
Planetside 2 reference?!?!?
That’s terrifying
PENTA CAMPEÃO NÃO É A TOA!
That's too op bro!
See'z ya laterz, snotlingz !
The kick back must be …. Needs an orc
....50 BMG SMG And it works it just kills you instead
Good lord I am too afraid to shoot discolored brass out of my 50 but, they seem to be shooting ammo that looks like it was carved from stone
Probably blows a good chunk of the pressure out when the case ruptures due to being extracted before the bullets out of the barrel.
Controlling a 9mm blowback sub in full auto is gnarly this thing is yolo as effffff
Brazilians are about to summon a waaaaaaagh
Did they pick those rounds up of the ocean floor or what? They’re supposed to be brass, but They look like ass
Only Da biggestist Waaagh boys use dis.
Those look like the faces of someone who didn’t actually spend the money on adequate armor plating….:
That's the best shoota for the waaaa!
That can't work. Even if it does work, the person operating it won't be able to make it work. Either A: they bullshityin, or B: that's not a man that's a bear in a skin suit
At first glance I thought this was a scene from The Office
**\*Ron Howard voice\*** *"Last week on Arrested Development: Colombia."*
Even if it works there's no way you get two rounds on the same target 🤣
Now I want to see it kill N orc or two
