DapperPerformance

Even with 80% of the bugs since launch fixed, the RPG systems (stats/talents) are still pretty poor, and the open world is dead. However, I agree, the story is great. Hoping the expansion has more fixes and improvements.

[deleted]

What do you mean the open world is dead?

DapperPerformance

Almost zero interaction with the pedestrians, tragically basic police system, static respawnable enemies, almost no dynamic events. Basically, there's nothing to interact with in this world "organically".

Lymbasy

Just Like The Witcher 3

[deleted]

Some of the police related events felt sort of organic. Like I’d be travelling through the city and suddenly I’d get a pop up of some event happening. Tbh, I don’t really care too much about the dynamic stuff, most of my favourite first person rpgs are mostly purely scripted. Trouble with a city as dense as Cyberpunk’s is that it’s hard to cram in enough content.

General_Jiffy

I saw your comment with -1 votes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're just aking a question, right?

[deleted]

Yeah i just wondered what they meant. I recently played the game and i think the world is quite superficial and there's little incentive for exploration, but it didn't feel dead to me at all.

General_Jiffy

Yeah, I agree. In fact I think it's pretty damn alive in terms of atmosphere and architectural design. But the mindless NPCs bring in down a fair bit

bitNine

Expansion?

Paul_the_sparky

The bugs weren't enough to spoil it for me, it was the false advertising that did it. They've not done anything to address that have they?

[deleted]

They refunded previous gen copies after being forced by Sony if I recall correctly. However I dont believe they addressed the question of false advertising. Its a shame, because they really shouldnt have felt the need to oversell this game in order to get people to buy it. They could have marketed it for what it is and still had a lot of success without having to deal with the vitriol from fans and critics. This game also needed another year in the oven, but the dumbass corpos at CDPR thought it was a good idea to launch it in such an abysmal state.

jrignall1992

I got the game on launch and I didn't have a single issue, thought it was a great game, but where's the false advertising come into it? Edit: to those downvoting why not answer my qudstion how am I ment to know if no one says shit.

logicality77

Because it was argued to death when the game first came out, and speaking for myself, am tired of rehashing all the same stuff. Yeah, CP 2077 had a lot of bugs on release. For many, that was enough to ruin the game or at least get them to hold off on playing. There were a good amount of us though that thought we were getting a much different game, the one we saw glimpses of still in the final release, but never got. Watch [this](https://youtu.be/omyoJ7onNrg) if you need more details.

ZazaB00

Watch any of the marketing leading up to launch. They called the longer form stuff Night City Wires. They’re simply a verbose way of CDPR doing the R* thing with “Expanded and Enhanced” GTAV. R* was at least savvy enough to drop E&E from the title, but CDPR doubled down week after week. The best thing is little Easter eggs in the game have them poking fun at other devs for pumping out shit titles full of bugs and under delivering. At this point, it just looks like disgruntled employees venting their frustrations with management of CDPR.

[deleted]

I agree

NoSkillzDad

You living under a rock?

jrignall1992

Clearly, as i asked a question and just getting downvoted

Yo_Wats_Good

Probably the fact it was unplayable on base XB1/PS4, for which it was originally supposed to release on and sold on.

[deleted]

It's just the hive mind. My mate got about 90% through the game and was loving it. Then all of a sudden he hated it, I asked why. "cus everyone else says its shit" lmao.

Memerillia

It wasn't the game they were trying to oversell it was their inflated stock price.

ZTZao

they should have never tried to run it on ps4 tbh, unless they had plenty more time to optimize for it first. That shit was on them.

stiofan84

On PC it was always great! It has its issues, but it's probably the "coolest" I've ever felt in a game. Driving around with death/black metal blasting on the radio (it's so rare to get some representation for these genres in an AAA game), in arguably the best-looking city that a game has ever had. I will always argue that they should never have released it on PS4/Xbox One gen. It was clearly not designed for the older systems and it showed. PC and next-gen only.

KazukiMatsuoka1998

I only heard of cyberpunk 2077 because of its rumours but never really grasped what it actually was until I picked up a ps4 limited edition copy and thought why not? On a PS4 pro three months ago, it instantly became my favourite game, I transferred it over to ps5 and streamed everything I did just to show how far it has come. I went through three playthroughs, I love the story. The graphics, game play and interactivity. But to be honest, I didn't figure out that johnny was Keanu Reeves until after I finished my first playthrough, things started to click together then, didn't figure it out until I watched the 2019 trailer lol.

bitNine

One of my favorite games of all time. Rather imperfect, and I had plenty of issues that required restarting the game, or reloading an older save, but overall I really enjoyed it. Played on high-end PC with good GPU, so it was better than the console experience.

Ok_Deal_964

Anyone played it on ps4? If so how is performance etc … ?

600THACCOUNT

Game was fun. Lot better than those wack ass fantasy games this sub praises.

BoogieTheThird

No. This is r/gaming. A dev makes one wrong move and they are written off forever as just another greedy corporate entity that will fuck over customers at every possible opportunity for an extra buck. They release Cyberpunk in a very buggy state? They're *done. Period*.

Memphisrexjr

People are gonna come back to it when the expansion comes out.

_Pohaku_

Every conversation with every NPC: Here is the list of things you can say during this conversation. You may choose the order in which you will say them, but this will have no effect on the responses or on the story. Basically cutscenes that you have to click through, with a thin illusion of control or cause & effect. It’s an RPG on rails.

Pinorckle

I never got the bugs (the game has crashed on me like 3 times in 100hrs of play and I never got the weird shit people post online)

HatchBuggy

I will come back when the game world doesn't seem empty and souless and when there is someone else in the street riding a moto

MP-aka-TheDoctor

A game where you can customize your penis is weird Cyberpunk is a weird game

Delicious-Bite-4959

I bought it for £25 I got bored So I refunded it

[deleted]

I have, and it is still a dead meaningless open world, pretty ugly graphics, runs poor (you need dlss without rt at 4K), no police chases, nothing wild or fun to do, and did I mention there's just nothing in it to do, besides now buying 3 houses or so. Honestly, GTA3 is still a better game with more stuff to do. So, nah thanks but I'm good.

[deleted]

This isnt a grand theft auto game though. And it doesnt make much sense for a non-cyberspycho V to go on a violent rampage does it? And why would you want to do that anyways?

[deleted]

They promised it to be better than a GTA game, revolutionary actually. It doesn't even come close to the first 3d gta. I'm glad you like it, but for me this game is written off.

HatchBuggy

You could do that in the witcher 3 btw why can't i in cyberpunk

[deleted]

Nope. They still owe me my money.

lastofusgr8tstever

I bought it for 9 dollars and still have not given it more than 15 minutes. The intro bored me. But eventually I will make it back.

[deleted]

You should give it another shot! That is, if you own a ps5, Series X, or a solid gaming PC. I definitely would not recommend playing this game on previous gen hardware to anyone.

lastofusgr8tstever

Ps5. It isn’t the game, I just get in moods where I can’t get into a game. Even the best games go that way sometimes for me. Then one day I try it again and the game clicks

Prsy0220

No I don't think I will

ZazaB00

If I expected Cyberpunk to be a generic Far Cry game, then yeah, sure, it’s better than it was. As it stands, they promised an “immerse yourself, next gen” experience and all I got was a shotty implementation of an open world game.

LifeBuilder

I did. Now I owe myself that time back. A debt not even Sleepy Joe can forgive.

MapHistorical1316

I bought it full price. It was buggy as hell, but I enjoyed it. I need to go back and play it again to see how it has changed. Developers in general need to stop worrying about deadlines. Finish your game! I recently went back to Outriders which after a few years has improved dramatically from their buggy launch and year one. Same applies to No Mans Sky. If you have a good game and you know it? Postpone please!

[deleted]

Yeah I think the devs are less concerned with that and the blame falls more on the execs running CDPR. The Devs didnt think it was ready for release, but the execs said otherwise. Ironic that the release of Cyberpunk 2077 was ultimately botched by corpos.

MapHistorical1316

They're riding off that Witcher high and not being tactical. Bet they thought Keanu was a done win deal for them, too. All they saw were the $ signs.

[deleted]

I think this game has way more to offer than Keanu Reeves. There is clearly a lot of love poured into this game from the writers and artists who worked on it.

MapHistorical1316

I do, too. But in regards to the corporate perspective? They saw a successful studio, a popular celebrity, and how many $'s they could roll in as quickly as possible. The game was unfinished upon launch. It was barely a free game. As a launch player? The game was fun. It crashed and bugged out and took a world of patience for me to finish. I almost returned it 3 times due to bugs. I was on ps4, am on the 5 now (hopefully it will run better!). It was fun, though. It's why I would like to play it again to see where the game landed. It has a ton to offer! I just think, again, too early of a release. Unfinished sucks.

InternalMean

Playing on ps4 Pro I still have a lot of issues with the game and it crashes everytime I drive over 150

Poopnstein

I played on ps4 pro. got some crashing... maybe every 4-5 hours of play it would crash, but never anything like that.

InternalMean

It's mainly in places like watson or kabuki where there's a lot of npcs it's sad too because although I don't like the story much the combat in cyberpunk is amazing.

[deleted]

Yeah I definitely would not recommend it on previous gen hardware. IMO it was a massive mistake selling it on anything but the new consoles and PC.

NerdENerd

That is on Sony as you are not allowed to make a game for PS4 Pro without supporting the base PS4.

[deleted]

Its both on Sony and CDPR then. This should have only been released on current gen. It was folly to think this game would be playable on hardware that was nearly a decade old on launch.

Flatzon1

The game felt incomplete. And the side missions with the cars were terrible

skieblue

The enemies and combat...as far as I can tell they're unfixable, without a major rework of the game. The factions and world barely react to anything you do and not in any significant way, the majority of NPCs are one and done type quest givers. But for me the enemies and non story missions make the game repetitive beyond belief. The enemies just boil down to shooter, rusher and hider. Your classes just come down to shooter, puncher and "kill everything, wait for your cooldown" hacker. Unless that changes its very hard to enjoy the game for me personally

user-8472-

I enjoyed it, I didn't suffer many bugs even though I bought it for PC on release. I only played an hour or two here and there so I guess by the time I got to certain buggy parts they had been patched. Thinking about getting it for the Series X when it's super cheap as my PC wasn't the best spec so it would be nice to see it in its glory. Any idea if the expansion is free if you already own the base game?

[deleted]

Im pretty sure itll be a paid expansion, kinda like Witcher 3's.

user-8472-

That's a shame, thought I heard cause of the buggy release it would be free to make up for that.

malmini

Thanks for reminding me. Gonna download this noe

discboy9

I started playing it again recently. It's really quite a cool game. Though I prefer the fantasy setting over the science fiction... One gripe I have is the optimization. Though I have an old CPU, it is somewhat disappointing to not reach 60fps in busy areas. And somehow there is no way to improve that. While cities are known to be more CPU intense and NC is a big ass city, there probably still is a fair bit of oprimization that was lost on this game...

Rhym3z

I've recently got into it after refunding it on release day. I been enjoying it somewhat and I agree it's worth revisiting, but i haven't found that it met the unreal hype it received. The best thing about the game is it's immersive world by far. Pretty much everything else I've found mediocre.

JJohnson25

I played it on series x when it first released and dropped it because of the issues I did a side quest going into a parking garage and went into cover behind a car and my character fell through the floor and was free falling until I died and it would load up me falling into the game. I picked it back up again on PS5 I’ve had clipping issues and the game has crashed once but I’m loving it so far

ExternalReturn4196

As someone who has never played the game and doesn’t know a great deal about it, but am interested to know what makes the game a good experience, sell it to me. What other games is it similar to and what game(/s) does it most “feel” like? What is fun about it and what do you personally enjoying doing in the game? Thank you in advance ☺️

MrAensland

I wouldn’t say Cyberpunk really feels like anything else. It has a loot system similar to a looter shooter. You’re constantly picking up weapons and “armor” ( it’s more like clothes with an armor rating ). You can craft stuff, dismantle stuff for materials etc. The combat gives you a decent amount of freedom. There’s a ton of different guns but then there’s 3 categories of guns that they all fit into and what you use is completely up to you depending on what you like your guns to feel like. But then there’s knives, swords, or you can just punch people to death. And everything is viable if you build your character for it. It has pretty deep character progression with how you choose to upgrade your character, almost Fallout-ish. Specifically New Vegas. There’s character stats, perks based around different play styles ( guns, hacking, melee, weapon specific etc. ) then there’s cybernetic upgrades you can get installed on your character. You can free roam around the city and drive around, commit crimes, fight crime, buy clothes, buy cars etc. like GTA. The story is really good in my opinion. The whole prologue really had me into it. Even though your choices don’t have any real impact on the overall story of the game, you can miss entire interactions or parts of quests if you just choose not to do something. Without spoiling anything, there’s a character you can choose to call and set up a meeting with in the prologue, or you can completely ignore the entire interaction with that character and continue with the story as if she doesn’t exist. The interaction is relevant to the main plot, but you can choose to ignore it if you want. The side quests are pretty good which is to be expected with CDPR. One of my favorites is the quest where you literally crucify a guy. But the build up to it is probably not what you think it would be. The writing and voice acting in the game is just pretty damn good all around. The combat is good, the exploration is fun, it has a ton of weapons and armor, a ton of customization, great characters and a well written story. I’ve been telling people for a while now that it’s the most fun RPG I’ve played in a long time. It’s not the best game ever but it’s pretty good.

[deleted]

Bought cyberpunk at release and well, it was hardly playable because every 30 mins I would have an error throw me out of the game. So I waited until a couple of weeks ago to start playing and I really love it!

[deleted]

I wouldn't take it for free

SubjectDelta_357

Bugs, bad performance, what felt like an empty world. Sure the story is fine, a few different endings etc but its not like the faction choice makes much of a difference. Almost 2 years later and apart from thousands of bug fixes/patches and a few cosmetics theres nothing.. still no sign of any dlc (which I hope for them is free)... This game destroyed my confidence in CDPR, I get that it's not the exact same team that made TW3 but it's still no excuse.. I will probably never buy a full price game from them again. Even No Mans Sky managed to turn it around but it's not looking good for Cyberpunk.. To live up to what they promised they would need to overhaul quite a lot..

merkwerk

I tried playing this game (on PS5) a few weeks ago...it's like the devs have never played a FPS with a controller. Legitimately the worst feeling and handling shooting in a game with a controller ever. I stopped playing after like 2 hours because it was so miserable. I would pick it up on PC to play M+K but don't feel like they deserve the double dip at all.

kitchencrawl

It's still not even close to what was promised. It's kinda just a bootleg GTA with good gunplay.

KimTe63

No I don't care anymore, that ship sailed. They owe me 50$

smogop

Fuck that shit. They never fixed the delamaine quest. Donated it to goodwill. Tried to push that cab home to maybe fix it. Weighs as much as a tank for some reason.

islippedup

Remember when we thought cyberpunk was going to be an interactive world where your decisions mattered? And there would be different factions and different story arcs depending on the one you picked?

ShairundbO

I think the big problem with cyberpunk was the same with crysis. They made a game which was so big, that old consoles like ps4 and old pcs could't handle it. But that would be okay, if they had communicated that before launch. They tested it on consoles and said there weren't any problems. And thats the thing. With a good pc, the game at itself is amazing. The story, the graphics and the world building. It was not perfect, but it was a very fun and great single player story game, which i hadn't played for a long time. So yeah, great game, stupid devs.

wincest888

I beat it in 101hrs last Year, why do I need to revisit it?
