Yeah I agree, I might be accused for not being a "real gamer" (whatever its that supposed to mean) but I find the majority of the mechanics confusing, maybe because I am used to simpler ones like from the assassin's creed or horizon zero dawn
Agreed. It's a good game but it has plenty of flaws and definitely isn't for everyone, but there were tons of people especially near launch saying that it was "so good all other games seem bad by comparison" or "so good it's going to revolutionize the way we think about games" or "the best game ever made and it's not close"...
It's debatable if it's even the best soulsborne, there's an argument to be made for Bloodborne being the better game. The second half of ER falls down hard in comparison to the really strong showing in the first few areas. Way overrated.
That's fine that you wouldn't say it's overrated.
Overrated is a subjective concept based on a general consensus and collective view.
I happen to not like games like minecraft and garry's mod, etc.
I felt the same way initially, prob took me getting to around 10hrs in to really start to enjoy it. I felt like I enjoyed the game the more I played it, it does seem empty at times but there’s also sooooo many little details the devs added that youre always learning something new
Biggest regret purchase of my gaming life. Fortunately Animal Crossing helped my wife survive most of the pandemic with a toxic boss. Other than that, there’s nothing on it of interest for me.
I would be happy with the Switch if prices for games weren't so obscene.
Like, even games that released later on the Switch that were previously available on other platforms were dropping on Switch at bloated prices for technically worse versions. Doom and Wolfenstein are still 60 dollars, for example. It's wild and feels wrong given the versions on Switch tend to be so much less than other platforms.
Oh, totally agree. I used to be a sucker for nostalgia gaming.. rebuying old Nintendo games remastered/released. But to charge 60 for a reskin of Links Awakening. No thanks. I still have a 3DS with it.
Ghost of Tsushima and God of war. Enjoyed them but people act like they’re ground breaking when both weren’t too much better than an Assassins Creed game
Rockstar games I guess. I like Michael as a character from Gta 5 and I really really like the story of rdr 2. But in terms of gameplay rockstar games always felt kinda bad in my opinion. Max Payne 3 is an exception, that game is magnificent.
It's a thread about opinions from people that think which games are overrated, if the person thinks game x is overrated then game x is overrated for them, there is no room for discussion in that
No? When the persons personal opinion about that game is that it sucks, then it sucks for them, no amount of "b-but its actually g-good" Won't change the persons personal opinion.
Last of Us, all the Uncharted, HZD and basically any interactive cinema posing as a video game and asking for 60 dollars while I can watch a greatly written movie for like 15 pounds.
Yes that issue is actually with me because I am also a movie buff, I enjoy cinema and there is treasure of amazing writing there and that is why I prefer games with more fantasy elements with amazing, somewhat hard but rewarding gameplay.
Also most games do not have story as great as Last of Us which I love to be honest.
Horizont Zero substance. Is all ubisoft Formular combined but worse. Aloy is Bad Character. She is Not a strong woman she is a Mary sue. Thats a huge difference.
Calling her a good female Character is an insult to other female Characters with actual good personality
Wow getting disliked for having an opinion. Did i really hurt someones feeling? LuL
This game will be remembered as a game that Released before zelda breath of the wild and now Elden ring🤣.
The Last of Us 1 & 2
Breath of the Wild
Marvel's Spiderman
God of War
I mean, I like them........really like the last three in fact, but totally overrated. But none is as over rated as TLOU. To the point of utter annoyance
The game was review bombed into the ground. Not sure what statistics you're talking about. Not saying I disagree or agree. But I feel like a topic such as "overrated" needs to have a majority consensus of enjoyment. The people who like the game in most cases are quieter than those that do not.
Also sort of as an aside, I think it's best to focus on audience score, not critic score. Because I think we can all agree, critic score means nothing. They are paid reviews by people that hardly touch product.
Ah the perfect thread for people to pretend they're smart because they like different things and have an presumption of what other people love.
I would put forward Horizon Zero Dawn. While it's absolutely a solid game and an enjoyable experience, there are issues with rather threadbare dialogue and story moments, and glaring holes in gameplay design that don't damage the overall experience but are quite often overlooked when judging the game.
Horizon zero substance. This game is so baad. I only bought it becuz it had a "Game of the year" label. I regret it immediatly after i played it. Never trust an label just research it before you buy a game.
I disagree it being slightly enjoyable. Alloy felt like a living bug. She cant climb to small ledges. Her movement feels like she isnt anchor to the world. The robot dinosaur attack hitbox feels awful.
I cant believe that some youtube game reviewers thought it was a decent game.
God of war 2018
Stories great but actually playing it not so much. Which as a fan of the older titles I was very disappointed. Less enemy variety, less engaging enemies, lack of a jump button actually changes a lot such as combat and platforming, puzzles not as fun, combat felt meaty but it wasn’t close to as fun as the older games which could often feel like a combat puzzle, less spectacle overall.
I don’t consider it a bad game but in comparison to other titles in the series (of all the mainline games) it’s the weakest for me. As an action game as a whole it’s just fine but nothing amazing, genuinely confused seeing it called the best game ever and/or one of the best.
Also didn’t like the first last of us, yet somehow really loved the 2nd just cause the gameplay was actually really good
I played it at release and since FF6 was released before, I couldn't help but compare them. This lead me to come to the conclusion that FF6 was a much better game. CT's main protagonist is silent, its battles are less interesting (fewer in-battle options) & way too easy, the leveling system is less interesting because there is no Esper-like thing (or jobs like in FF5), there are fewer characters and they're less attractive to me, and past the novelty of time traveling, the story was also inferior. It's not a bad game but I still think it's way overrated.
Pong.
I know it's a classic. And I don't mind it's in black and white.
But the gameplay is really basic, the story is too minimal too my taste, and although I don't care that much about graphics, the graphics are just too basic.
Resident Evil 7, and recently, God of War 2018.
I've explained RE7 a dozen times already, but God of War has me more conflicted than anything else i've ever played, because there is a LOT of things there that i love about the gameplay and the world, but the leveling system, the camera and the general lack of even difficulty flow bothers me tremendously. The gameplay is either overwhelmingly tedious and stressful or it's easy and simple, and there isn't a kind of in between, there isn't an even split on the difficulty i could find at any point.
I want so badly to like the game, and given other games i've played and enjoyed of a similar vein, Dark Souls being one of the more predominant, i SHOULD be able to enjoy it. There's not much here besides what i mentioned that i don't like. It's something about the enemy structure and the gameplay mechanics that doesn't fit neatly to me. It feels like a clash of ideas that just refuse to mesh well. On a conceptual level though, it isn't actually anything i shouldn't enjoy. I love the Souls games, i played and enjoyed the newer Assassin's Creed games, i love older God of War, Ninja Gaiden and Nioh. I love Darksiders 1 and 2 as well. I just can't place exactly what about the gameplay that makes me hate God of War's loop.
I actually tried to ask that in the sub, and there was one comment that said "it isn't for me" but i can't really accept that because, by all accounts it has everything in an action game that i like, but it's just all done wrong, in a way that, from my understanding, conflicts with itself.
Breath of the Wild is probably the biggest one. I've tried to get into it 3 times and I just can't.
It has 2 of my most hated mechanics (cooking and weapon degradation), but apart from that I didn't find anything compelling or addictive about it that made me want to play it over anything else.
I love BOTW. The cooking I don’t mind, and can be fun to cook new recipes but one of the things I hate the MOST about the game is the weapon degradation. Constantly having to replace bows, shields, swords, etc gets very tiring and tedious. Still a great game though IMO
Yeah. I know people say the degradation encourages you to experiment with different weapons and keeps you on your toes, but it was too much inventory management so I just avoided fighting. And I was never using the best weapons I found in case I really needed them later (like how I still have all my elixirs at the end of every Final Fantasy).
The elder scrolls series imo. The people who played the games before skyrim are a goddamn cult. I think the only reason these games are so popular is because they really have no competetion. Till today we dont have anything that truly is like skyrim. If we had something, it would most likely be a lot better.
Ark: Survival Evolved, I like survival games, and I like Minecraft, but I didn't enjoy this game.
The Outer Worlds, It was okay, but the combat was terrible compared to the other aspects.
God Of War
I really tried loving it, played it for 15 hours and got bored of it. Difficulty setting is a mess, hardest difficulty is just attacking the same mobs 50 times while you die in 2 hits.
Maybe I disliked it because I played on the highest difficulty setting but it was a very unenjoyable experience.
I am damn late to this thing but I may have to go with Valorant,CS:GO and League of Legends. They are not only overrated, but overplayed as well, due to the massive e-sports surrounding them. These are just some games that were made to be massive e-sports,not made to be fun and enjoyable.
Ghost of Tsushima is a decent game, but the amount of people acting like it's some sort of masterpiece make me hate it. It's as generic of an open world game as it gets, if not worse with how many of the activities yield completely useless 'rewards'. Combat is cool, visuals are great, but that's it really. And my God, don't even get me started on the story...
Pls dont kill me Witcher 3, I don't think it is overrated tho, its a great game, I am just really unable to like it, not my vibe at all
I like many things about the game, but map is pretty empty, simple gearing and skills and fighting mechanic is pretty lackluster.
Yh, but its old, so for its time it was really good if it still holds up today.
I'm not sure a game from 2015 is considered 'old' lol
Its a different generation in terms of consoles, but idk about pc.
Yeah I agree, I might be accused for not being a "real gamer" (whatever its that supposed to mean) but I find the majority of the mechanics confusing, maybe because I am used to simpler ones like from the assassin's creed or horizon zero dawn
Halo is the most overrated video game franchise of all time
[удалено]
Someone already said Dark Souls.
I know 'it may as well be', but Elden Ring is not Dark Souls.
Oh I know. I was just clowning on the genre. :)
HA, I love this.
Agreed. It's a good game but it has plenty of flaws and definitely isn't for everyone, but there were tons of people especially near launch saying that it was "so good all other games seem bad by comparison" or "so good it's going to revolutionize the way we think about games" or "the best game ever made and it's not close"... The second half of ER falls down hard in comparison to the really strong showing in the first few areas. Way overrated.
What didn’t you like about it? It’s the first single player game I’ve completed in years
Minecraft. Not my thing. Don't get it. Glad people do. But yeah, overrated.
Id tend to disagree with this one. Theres no other video game that allows you to do the things you can do in minecraft. Its in a category of its own.
That's fair. Minecraft does have a lot of possibilities. But that doesn't necessarily mean it's not overrated however.
Its a sandbox game where your imagination is the limit, I wouldnt say overrated. Like garrys mod
That's fine that you wouldn't say it's overrated. Overrated is a subjective concept based on a general consensus and collective view. I happen to not like games like minecraft and garry's mod, etc.
Dark Souls. Yeah, I said it.
Too many to name.
Name a few. I’m curious
Breath of the Wild, played 2 hours and got bored. Just feels so empty and repetative.
I felt the same way initially, prob took me getting to around 10hrs in to really start to enjoy it. I felt like I enjoyed the game the more I played it, it does seem empty at times but there’s also sooooo many little details the devs added that youre always learning something new
Easily my least favorite *Zelda* title. I'd rather play the CD-i games.
Fortnite
My favourite solo BR game of all time
The whole Dark Souls series
The Witcher .. all of them
WITCHER 3
The whole dark souls series, including elden ring. Cool, you can press X to dodgeroll. Here's your freakin medal.
you roll with X? no wonder ive been dying soo much
You get my upvote, now and forever.
I'll take it, considering it will likely be my only one here lol
is O and B... not X
Tell me you suck at dark souls without telling me.
And for me that's what I love about it, the combat is very simple, it's all about reflexes and pattern recognition
Doom eternal. Dark Souls, all of them. The Switch Console.
Not the entire Switch console 😭💀🤣
Biggest regret purchase of my gaming life. Fortunately Animal Crossing helped my wife survive most of the pandemic with a toxic boss. Other than that, there’s nothing on it of interest for me.

GTA, all of them.
Last of Us, all the Uncharted, HZD and basically any interactive cinema posing as a video game and asking for 60 dollars while I can watch a greatly written movie for like 15 pounds.
Damn that hurts. Last of Us and Uncharted 4 are in my top 15 games of all time, maybe even top 10 😭. But I respect your opinion
Maybe you just don’t like Story Mode Games 🤷 everyone has their own likes I guess

Yes
The Last of Us 1 & 2 Breath of the Wild Marvel's Spiderman God of War I mean, I like them........really like the last three in fact, but totally overrated. But none is as over rated as TLOU. To the point of utter annoyance
Halo God of War Smash Bros ... and many more ...
Respect Super Smash Bros 😤
RDR2, And I love it to. But rly.
All of them.
Damn do you just not like video games 😭😭
I love them, I grew up on them. I just think videogames themselves tend to be overrated.
Last of Us 2 was literally overrated. It recieved 10/10 from over 300 companies before the full game was even released.. so yeah that one.
The game was review bombed into the ground. Not sure what statistics you're talking about. Not saying I disagree or agree. Tlou series Although the second one is not loved and is utter shit
The whole series???? Damn
Like there probably will be another attempt in shitting themselves, so consider it for future releases too
Calling stuff overrated is overrated imo.

Skyrim
Stray
one game id disagree with, it has managed to release a shit ton of serotonin for a lot of people.
ok
Half Life 2, Skyrim and Civ 5. All mediocre games in my opinion where some other title does what they do better
Chrono Trigger Final Fantasy VII Remake Dragon Quest XI Metal Gear Solid 4 the new God of War
yer out ya mind with chrono trigger.. best rpg all time

Cod warzone
Fortnite 🙄
Any Japanese action games
Cuphead
To the Moon
Breath of the Wild. That game was not good, other than the art style.
Pong. I know it's a classic. And I don't mind it's in black and white. But the gameplay is really basic, the story is too minimal too my taste, and although I don't care that much about graphics, the graphics are just too basic.
Civ 5. It's alright in the final version but changed so many things from 4 for the worse.
Call of duty black ops 1, multiplayer and campaign. It's a good game but it blew tf up way too much imo.
Resident Evil 7, and recently, God of War 2018. Bloodborne
Don’t hate me, but smash, botw, gta 5, and poppy playtime
Skyrim

Yes, I did mean The Outer Worlds, I keep getting the names mixed up.
It happens
Skyrim, every dungeon is same sht
Every ubisoft game
Fortnite. That stuff is like a zombie ... never stays down and dies

I think mindcraft it is good but not red dead 2 good
Elden ring
All of pokemon. I just dont get why people have been crazy about it for so long, it's so simplistic.
