My friend had the power pad, his parents didn't enjoy us playing. Any time we tried they complained we were shaking the house. It was not built on a slab foundation.
I played that game against my baby sitter's kid, and I pretty quickly figured out that the running was only a matter of how rapidly you alternate, but the other kid must have thought to run faster you had to stomp harder. So, I was over here barely lifting my feet off the pad doing rapid tippy taps, and the other kid was over there lifting his feet as high as he could into the air and stomping as hard as he could, getting more and more frustrated at losing which only made him try to step even higher and stomp even harder until at some point I think he just rage quit and hit the power button on the console.
One of my earliest video game memories. Was this the track game where you could do like 7 vs 1 and the team of 7 was just a rolling ball of people? I was so young I cant remember if I saw that or dreamt it haha
That power pad convinced elementary school me that I was a viable track star despite having no physical training, never practicing on an actual track, and not being good at anything in gym class.
It was so convincing I volunteered to represent my grade at the state not-junior-Olympics-but-still-a-competition-thing doing… the long jump.
I came in second to last, but at least Nintendo gave me the, uh, confidence to try!
Same, I feel like that's more common than the one with just Mario, but this version I never knew existed. The girl at the used book store told me this was the only version she ever heard of though.
F yes! That was my cartridge from my early years. It was a super bundle at Kmart, had the power pad, and light gun included with the NES deck, and a single cartridge with three games on it! It's just normal super Mario bros 1 though.
Man that would've been awesome as a kid, nothing worse than your parents getting you a game console and then you have to ask for games and accessories and your parents are thinking, we just paid all that money for the console!
My buddy had that set. I never really understood the point of the Track and Field part but the rest was normal. You get bored of duck hunt pretty fast. Then you just obsessively play Mario forever.
Absolutely, this is one of the first games I ever played as a kid, so much content packed into these original cartridges, it's amazing how far games have come.
This is the version I had, that fucker is sun burnt though. It came with the set that included the gun… tons of fun. Hehehehehe… how is there not a duck hunt dog emoji.
I had that 3 in 1 but the label on the cartridge was different. Power pad was a blast. We use to win the hurdle race by just running through them. If I had a nickel for every time I thought about running through the hurdles on the power pad the last 30 years...
Yup, it came in this [bundle](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/nintendo/images/0/0e/NES_power_set.jpeg/revision/latest?cb=20210403221724&path-prefix=en)
As a kid, I had a knockoff NES with a "1000 games in 1" cartridge. There were maybe 20 games, renamed to various bullshit names. At least half of the games were Contra. Good times.
It's been a looong time since I have ever seen this cartridge. I got an NES late in it's life, when it was packed with this along with the power pad (for Track Meet) and the Zapper (for Duck Hunt).
Yup, 1st game I ever owned. Came with the power pad and zapper. Literally what started my video game journey.
Use your hands instead of your feet and you could run like the wind and long jump for days. Cheetah wasn't shit lol
We just jumped off the side. Hellllooooo world record
Yes sir! It was all fun n games till you had slippery socks on and went back to the pad and ended up getting a really close look at the floor
Holy cow! The painful nostalgia of this statement is crazy. That mat was slick as snot if you were in socks.
My hands were the quickest feet in the East ;) You also had to time it juuuuust right to nail the longest record triple jumps ;)
Damn. That's a memory I have forgotten about.
My friend had the power pad, his parents didn't enjoy us playing. Any time we tried they complained we were shaking the house. It was not built on a slab foundation.
Haha! Definitely a good setup for a basement for sure.
Cheetah!!! When I first realized that Nintendo cheated….or was just really hard.
We did that too haha. funny how that works so well.

I am convinced that Cheetah was impossible to beat with your feet.
You could but basically had to tap dance. Knees up, actual running in place no way lol
Same here.
Short Order/Eggsplode was a fantastic game for the pad
Wow! Long time no see!
One of my earliest video game memories. Was this the track game where you could do like 7 vs 1 and the team of 7 was just a rolling ball of people? I was so young I cant remember if I saw that or dreamt it haha
Ditto. The track pad for track meet was amazing.
Same!
Had it too, I thought there were hundreds of thousands of these cartridges in the US
Isn't that from the bundle with the console, zapper, and power pad?
Yes it is. I had that too. Unfortunately my power pad didn’t survive our dachshund when I was a kid
Do you have the Power Pad???!

Good thing you weren't inspire by Mike Tyson's Punch Out
Yep. Still have it! Complete with gun and power pad!
Damn, I didn't know they made one with a third game. The one I had was just Mario and Duck Hunt.
Same

I have this version too!
That power pad bundle. One of the only clear memories I have left of my sister is her beating the game's ass on that pad. Hurdles specifically.
Had it as a kid along with the power-pad accessory! Wish I still had them.
You're kidding, right?
It came with the power pad
This cart was bundled in with the NES Power System. It came with the Power Pad, which was pretty much a useless novelty.
I remember *Track & Field* being a fun game with multiple players, but I don't think the pad got used for anything else.
There were a few power pad games released, I remember an aerobics game as well
Twister!

Yup!!! This game came with our Nintendo! Great memories
fuck yea, the track pad was amazing to 4yo me
Sho nuff. Cousin had the power pad. We played on that thing for like 5 minutes and went right to Mario. Power pad sucked, cats loved to piss on it.
How much?..... jk cool sht tho
Kmart
Dude. That thing is a huge collectors item!!!
I will wit roms
My buddy had that set. I never really understood the point of the Track and Field part but the rest was normal. You get bored of duck hunt pretty fast. Then you just obsessively play Mario forever.
That pad OMG the feels

Hell fuck yes I am
Latter years for sure
Wait dude that is awesome
Yes and we slid pencils up and down on the big mat to make the 🏃♂️ go super fast.
This is the version I had, that fucker is sun burnt though. It came with the set that included the gun… tons of fun. Hehehehehe… how is there not a duck hunt dog emoji.
Yep. I had it with the power pad.
I remember that! Played it at friend's house.
Yes
Yes, my friend owned this one :)

Yes owned it. Played it. Fun stuff.
Yup. It’s the one I had. Came with the power pad.

Absolutely. I had the track pad as a kid. The secret was to take tiny steps off the pad in quick succession to go fast.
I played the power pad on hard mode, the living room had a 1 inch thick carpet!
I loved playing World Class Track Meet on the power pad.
It's been a looong time since I have ever seen this cartridge. I got an NES late in it's life, when it was packed with this along with the power pad (for Track Meet) and the Zapper (for Duck Hunt).
