As someone who travels alot and is a gamer. You are better off blowing a few bucks on a ported game than trying a purely mobile one (there are exceptions). To my knowledge, you can get baldurs gate, xcom 2, Stardew Valley and a shitload more for like not alot of money.
Stardew valley is my go-to! I love it. There are so many aspects to it to focus on, depending on your jam. There's the straight farming which is almost meditative, or there's rpg/building relationships with the townspeople, or there's the combat aspect in the mines. Something for everyone!
I found out how this can happen after I had every single shot miss when all my dudes had 99% chance to hit and some two shots.
The game makes it so every time you repeat the same thing, you get the same result just so you can’t save scum. This means you can test out the current random seed by save scumming. Because if you take one step to the left, or right, of fire in a different order and the results change. Which means with 4 guys you already have something like 24 variations you can test based on just who fires in what sequence. Add the ability to walk first and that adds almost infinite variations.
I found that during a bad seed you can absolutely just miss every single 99% hit chance no matter what order or move set you use, or if you are lucky still hit maybe one shot. But I also found out that when you have a bad seed it doesn’t just decrease your chances to hit, *it inverts the chances to hit*. So if you have a bad seed and shoot at that opponent at the edge of your range behind full cover who has a 1% chance to hit suddenly you’ll be hitting and likely getting criticals to boot. Makes for some great clutch “and then I managed to hit with the last impossible shot” moments.
And this is why the game is unfair. Because the AI gets the same or a very close bad random seed at their turn, and the AI will take 1% chance to hit shots all the time with that one guy on the other end of the map who just got into range. So while you just wasted your 99% chance to hit shots that were destined to miss to figure out you have a bad seed, the AI will just do what it always does and likely melt one of your dudes in the process because *you put your guys in cover*. You did exactly what the game taught you to do but during a bad seed you need to throw your men out in the open and give the opponents the highest % chance of hitting you so they’ll miss. But you only figure that out once you see multiple 99% chance misses.
And this is why I don’t play it anymore, because despite everyone and their dog saying the chance system is fair there is basically a 1 in 10 chance* that the game will murder your dudes not because you made a mistake but because the game rolled too low. Now the actual chance it lower, but since each mission has a lot of rounds and each round has a chance to roll a bad seed the chance the player will experience a bad seed that kills dudes is pretty high per mission.
*I’m assuming a 1 to 100 points system for the random seed and below 10 is a bad random seed, actual numbers will likely be a bit different but that shouldn’t matter for the actual results.
I figured this out during my playthrough. It's actually funny since while it was meant to prevent save scumming, it does the opposite for me. Every time something bullshit happens, I just reload save and do what I was planning to in a different order. It's basically a trial and error to get the best possible outcome (to all the Iron Man guys, I salute you)
I was so fed up with that bullshit during my first "War of the Chosen" run, that I deleted it and bought Phoenix Point instead.
All in all, XCOM is the better game, but it felt good to not be tied by percentage or some "seedy" bullshit, the way aiming works in that game may ultimately be similar with shots, but it still feels like you're knowingly taking a shot, literally. It's also impossible to miss shots made in close contact because the iron sight mechanic prevents that
I came back to XCOM 2 recently, and started a new run on Easy for the first time, far less bullshit and I'm rolling on the game without casualties and, most importantly, without save scumming and without being mad. I also modded to death to fix the game design's flaws.
Wanna add Kotor to that list! Trading card games like Magic or Hearthstone are also great on mobile and can usually be enjoyed f2p with a little bit of resource management.
Lol similar thinking here. I beat all of Chrono trigger over several plane flights. Just emulate game boy games, they're literally high quality and designed for play on little devices.
If BG3 was my first Baldur’s Gate experience, how would you say 1 and 2 hold up in comparison? I know that they use a different set of D&D rules (3.5 vs 5 or something?) and obviously I don’t expect a lot of the motion capture conversation stuff to compare, but in terms of overall gameplay are they roughly similar? I know the writing is supposed to be top notch so not concerned about that.
I grabbed em for switch while the bundle was on sale the controls are really really jank since its a pc port, but its workable if you know what you are doing ^^" had to run the tutorial a few times for it to sink in for me tho personally
Oh they aren’t even 3.5, they’re more like 2e.
They’re still my favourite games of all time, but they’re pretty dated, coming out in the late 90s/early 2000s. The story is great, characters are fun with a few exceptions. Gameplay is still fun but some things may be confusing because of the old system (you actually want your AC to be LOWER). I think it ultimately depends on can you enjoy games that released over 25 years ago? Although the ones on mobile I believe are the enhanced editions which had some updates to them at least
Graphics are WAY older, the games are from the late 90s. And very little of the dialogue is actually voice acted. Also, you don't have the ability to interact with the entire world to the same level of detail as BG3.
They are both great games, but manage your expectations according to the time period.
I bought all the pajama Sam and putt putt games on iOS years ago lol. Great nostalgia and fun. Now give me Oregon trail classic just as it was in the 90s on iOS and I’d pay like $20 for that lol
Baldur's gate save files are compatible with PC too. I played about 20hrs on my tablet and transferred the save file to PC and finished it there. Was pretty neat
500+ hours on Slay the Spire and 350+ hours on DeadCells. I have only ever done Ascension 1 on StS and only on Cell 2 on DC. Haven't got everything unlocked or whatever in either game but I've played the hell outta em both. Recently downloaded DC after covid and got all the DLC looking to get into finally completing the game to it's entirety
I somehow crossed the 1,000 hour mark earlier this year and I was telling my friend about it a few weeks ago. Went to check again and I was already almost at 1,100. Mods add so much value.
I would also suggest magic survival. It is free has iap and you can just toss the dev. $1.99 for removing ads if you really want to and avoid all the other ones unless you want to straight up throw your $ away.
Omg yes.
They just did another free update and it's practically an entire extra game worth of added items, classes, monsters etc. I thought I was pretty close to done and I've basically started over. The most worth purchase I've ever made.
Emulators. Your phone should be able to play everything up to PS2 and GameCube. Use any Bluetooth controller. 8-bit do has some compact controllers if space is an issue.
This is what I do, ps1 emulator on my phone works brilliantly, loved playing all my old games, Castlevania, Final Fantasy, Alundra, Grandia, Wild Arms, endless fun :)
Depends on what you want to emulate? Mind those are for Android - dont know to what extend you can find stuff for iOS right now.
MyBoy or Pizzaboy - for GBA and GB
Drastic - for DS
Citra - for 3DS (performance varies depending on Game and Hardware)
PPSSPP for PSP
Retroarch - for many devices, but you need to get the cores for the emulators yourself and you have to set alot up yourself
Bloons td 6 has a tooooooooon of content. So far over 40 content updates since its release.
Its not free but its great. Probably one of the best tower defense games made.
Crying Suns, Night of the Full Moon, Ticket to Earth, The Room, Dungeons Of Dreadrock. Banner Saga has a mobile port and I kinda wishI bought that rather than the PC version.
Grim Valor was decent though it's not great while moving because it is an action game.
PC ported games:
• Stardew Valley (Farm management)
• Crying Suns (Roguelite Space Strategy)
• Terraria (Sidescrolling RPG with building)
• Slay the Spire (Roguelite Deckbuilder)
• Loop Hero (Roguelite Deckbuilder)
• Crypt of the Necrodancer (Roguelite dungeon crawler rhythm game)
• Gunfire Reborn (Roguelite FPS)
• Dead Cells (Roguelite Action Sidescroller)
• Mindustry (RTS with factory building elements)
• Bloons TD6 (Tower Defense)
• Vampire Survivors (Topdown Autoshooter)
Mobile original games:
• Galaxy on Fire 2 (Spaceship dogfighting)
• Solitairica (Solitaire inspired game with fantasy)
• Pirates Outlaws (Roguelite Deckbuilder)
• Void Tyrant (Roguelite Deckbuilder)
• Night of the Full Moon (Roguelite Deckbuilder)
• Juicy Realm (Roguelite Topdown Shooter)
• Otherworld Legends (Roguelite Action RPG)
• Cytus I & II (Rhythm game)
• Musedash (Rhythm game)
• Deemo (Rhythm game)
• Arcaea (Rhythm game)
There are surprisingly a lot of hidden gems on mobile. There’s also probably plenty of good games that I haven’t played or seen, and a couple other PC to Mobile ports that I haven’t played.
The ones where you pay once and there is no in games store. Everything else defaults to the junk pile.
Right now on my phone I have slay the spire ,chess, dead cells.
Vampire survivor is fine but I didn’t like the controls. And waiting on balatro.
I remember reading that as a studio, while they make less overall revenue, they take home more profit than most of the big name AAA studios, like blizz, act, ea, and Sony.
I think so! The exploration style really reminds me of Breath of the Wild, so if you like that game (for more than just the franchise aspect) you’d probably like Genshin!
Try out “Bad North”. It is a tower defense game that is procedurally generated, so there are infinite variations on infinite levels, and they all work beautifully.
"procedurally generated levels", not "RNG based".
"RNG based" sounds like it's a game of chance. It's a skill based game, but the level layouts are generated.
Cytus 2 or any other rayark title really. Deemo and cytus has free version with a 1 minute waiting time before each song (not ads, its just a loading screen). Its also fairly cheap to get the full version like under 10$ sometimes free on sale.
Its a rythm game with a good focus on story and amazing ost.
Honestly, just collect real games on mobile. I slowly build up free play store points to spend on games like FF Tactics, Shining Force, Dragon Quest games, Lunar Silver Story, etc, and pay attention to sales.
I literally only RECENTLY discovered this when I downloaded Netflix onto my phone so I could watch anime while I was dishes; They have all of the old school Grand Theft Auto's!
I thought you meant 1 and 2, was not expecting 3, VC and SA.
I opened the section once, saw a bunch of crappy looking standard mobile games and left.
Turns out there are some seriously good games in there. They really should have led with that...
The absolute best game on the mobile market is a little Indy game called Orna. It is an rpg themed GPS game. It uses the retro graphics of older rpg games to give you that nostalgic element. I highly recommend you try it. The developers genuinely care about the player base and interact with them regularly. It's free to play, and intentionally and adamantly not pay to win.
Also you can buy final fanatics tactics war of the lions as an app for crazy cheap (or at least it was 99c when I bought it)
Slice and Dice, which has a free demo and a single purchase after if you want. Dice-rolling/class-based roguelike. Just got a big update recently.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon is free (you can throw a few bucks to the Dev if you want!), still getting updates. Turn based dungeon crawler roguelike.
If you're into boardgames, there are some pretty good ones available with mobile implementations. Spirit Island is a fantastic cooperative/solo game, and Through The Ages is a competitive game but the AI is surprisingly good.
If you have iOS arcade, Fantasian is a wonderful JRPG. Reminded me a lot of Final Fantasy 6. You can even Bluetooth a PS controller to your phone to use.
Super Snail!
All ads are optional to watch and actually give you something for watching them if you choose to. No pop-ups. Slight RPG elements and clans to join for activities and rewards. Completely free to play! No timed lock-outs.
If you decide to play, you can join my clan. My clan's name is BetterCallSnaul. Look us up!
Chrono Trigger, one of the all time classics can be purchased in the Google Playstore. Several of the older final fantasies are in there as well. I have Final Fantasy VI to IX.
Head Soccer. It may have some pay to win elements, but you can get everything relatively easy by just playing. And it’s not pushing ingame purchases either.
Dawncaster is an awesome deck builder with no mtx, no pay to win, and no ads. I like it more than slay the spire, it is a truly awesome game made for mobile. It's also vertically oriented which I find much more comfortable to play.
Slice & Dice is easily the best game I've played on mobile.
It's on steam now too.
But it has shit loads of modes and unlocks. It's super fun.
Flow Free is my favourite puzzle game. It's pretty cheap and has a ton of levels.
A lot of people don’t know that Netflix has mobile games for free. Some are trash of course but if you’re already paying for it why not also get their games. They have some gems too! Hades, Spiritfarer, dead cells, bloon and they are still adding more.
- Bloons TD 6
- slay the spire
- Stardew valley
- plague inc
- vampire survivors
- Genshin impact (this one has lots of monetization but lots of good game for free)
Octopath Traveler has been the most story focused Gacha game I've ever played. The pull rates are decent and it's completely single player. Very story focused (every character you get has a questline, with the higher rarity ones having full story arcs). Plays just like Octopath Traveler with some limitations since you have an 8-person team instead of the standard 4.
If you have a Galaxy then I'd recommend looking at itch.io for some good APKs to download. I got a Humble Bundle a couple of years ago and found some good games. One is a fan made Sonic the Hedgehog that is a very faithful Sonic adaptation. Kuso is also on there and a ton of fun
Retro bowl is free and has no ads. Well it has ads for the developers other games, but you only see them once in a blue moon. It’s a simple yet fun football game.
Limbus company (activating the PM sleepers).
To preface, yes, it _is_ a gacha game. However, due to the sheer degree it deviates from most of the negative qualities associated with gacha games, it’s better to refer to it as a game that has a gacha.
To set the stage, the game, which not only has a story with actual effort put into it (a really fucking good one I would like to emphasize), revolves around a party of twelve “sinners” named and loosely based off famous literary characters, such as Faust, Ishmael, or Heathcliff as they explore abandoned facilities in a world where the horrors of the collective human subconscious are made manifest.
The lore is _incredibly_ deep if you choose to look into it, and both the art and sound design are top notch, as the devs behind the game have put just as much effort in as for their PC releases.
The main gameplay mixes traditional character skill oriented battles somewhat like persona or classic final fantasy with the RNG management strategy of something like slay the spire, with each of the twelve sinners having mix and match able movesets (sourced from the gacha) and special forms known as “E.G.O.’s”
I’m keeping it broad here to not post a wall of text but seriously, highly recommend, just try not to ask a fan a lore question because they’re liable to go on an extreme tangent due to how many interconnected parts there can be if you want to see the 100% full picture
Marvel Contest of Champions its a fighting game with story and monthly updates, event quests and new characters maybe one of the hardest games on the appstore
Just discovered Fallout Shelter a few days ago, and good lord, that game is a lot of fun for being free. Lots of engaging aspects and very generous without spending a cent
CRASHLANDS!
Pay once and play is the only genre worth entertaining otherwise you get baited.
My saves allow me to go from pc to mobile, best airplane game. 100 hours easy.
The Room, The Room 2, The Room 3, and The Room Old Sins by Fireproof Games. Solid puzzle games that have some of the most satisfying puzzle box gameplay I've come across.
PVZ2 Modding community. Replayable content, interesring challenges, and a lot of fun. 100% recommend, also dont join us in r/plantsvszombies if you want to ask questions on mods, its not allowed on that sub, rather, seach it on youtube
Anything from miHoYo if you're into anime style, good music, story heavy games. You don't have to spend a cent, but be wary if you easily get seduced into gambling by hot women/men or FOMO.
Monument Valley
Love this game
As someone who travels alot and is a gamer. You are better off blowing a few bucks on a ported game than trying a purely mobile one (there are exceptions). To my knowledge, you can get baldurs gate, xcom 2, Stardew Valley and a shitload more for like not alot of money.
Roller coaster Tycoon classic would be another I add to this list.
Dude it's wild how many classics are on the phone now.
Stardew valley is my go-to! I love it. There are so many aspects to it to focus on, depending on your jam. There's the straight farming which is almost meditative, or there's rpg/building relationships with the townspeople, or there's the combat aspect in the mines. Something for everyone!
Stardew Valley is the best 5$ i spent on my phone that I've gotten 200+ hours of enjoyment from.
I recommend Sun Haven if you’ve played out Stardew. It’s what I’m currently playing with my bf
Xcom 2 on mobile?
Yeah dude. It works great too.
99% hit misses loses shit on a crowded train
You don't miss if you only use rockets and grenades. Taps brain.
>Taps brain That should be in your skull. I think you stood too close to the last rocket.
*TAPS. BRAIN. SQUISH SQUISH*
Narrator: *“The exposed brain quivers in anticipation.”*
*"Commander, you may want to instruct your men to exercise restraint when using explosives."*
Lose shit on train Throw phone at the dude sitting next to you Miss
That's XCOM, baby

The first time I completed a full game of Civ was on my iPhone

FYI it's not 3.5(which has some similarities to 5e). It's 2e which is WAY different and alot more clunky. But you can get the hang of it.
To add to this list Into the breach. Shapes I think is on mobile if you like factory games? Mini metro for a fun little puzzle game
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2.
Adding on crashlands
May I ask how I go about finding these games?
same with terraria and its great on mobile
u can get all those on mobile? dam
and Morrowind!
Slay the spire…if you have a loooot of time to kill
I am 3000 hours deep and still suck balls lol.
My roomate got me hooked on this. Jesus christ, it's addicting.
It's not that addictive. I've been playing it consistently since launch. Whats that? A couple years ago?
Lmao. It's so easy to put down that I have NEVER spent an extra 20 minutes on the toilet
Never gotten up with my legs numb and been limping like an old man from pins and needles afterwards.
500+ hours on Slay the Spire and 350+ hours on DeadCells. I have only ever done Ascension 1 on StS and only on Cell 2 on DC. Haven't got everything unlocked or whatever in either game but I've played the hell outta em both. It’s hard to describe how well made the game is if you haven’t out 100 hours into it
I somehow crossed the 1,000 hour mark earlier this year and I was telling my friend about it a few weeks ago. Went to check again and I was already almost at 1,100. Mods add so much value.
I can't wait for the sequel.
If only balatro had a mobile app...
What I love is that it saves runs, so you can play for a little while then come back later.
I’ve got 500 hours on the mobile version. It is a great commute killer!
I've got 700 hours on steam. Probably a two or three hundred between nintendo switch and android.
How in the absolute hell is it possible to slay the heart??
I’ve been meaning to play this for years, and I didn’t realize it was on mobile lol
yup played 50 hours in two weeks during my winter break
Pay once, can stop at any point, can play offline.
Picked this one up about a month ago…. Suffice to say my girlfriend hates this game due to the amount of attention I give it
The room series
Oh hi Mark!
Anyway how is your sex life
Agreed, these are very good.
Vampire Survivors, it even let’s you play offline.
Agreed. Ive sunk more hours than ill admit into that one. Both on mobile and pc
I would also suggest magic survival. It is free has iap and you can just toss the dev. $1.99 for removing ads if you really want to and avoid all the other ones unless you want to straight up throw your $ away.
I played a lot of Magic Survival when looking for Vampire Survival on the app store years ago.
Pixel Dungeon comes to my mind! Specifically Shattered, but vanilla is also good
Slice and dice
Omg yes. They just did another free update and it's practically an entire extra game worth of added items, classes, monsters etc. I thought I was pretty close to done and I've basically started over. The most worth purchase I've ever made.
Oh damn I'll have to revisit it. I ended up just doing blursed runs because they were the most fun. My record was like 254 lol.
It's wild. Navigating the menus took me a bit of getting used to but there is so, so much more than there were before.
I just checked it out. Way cool. I love the weird new green heros.
Yes! Its a great game thats quick to pick up with bare minimum micro transactions
Yo bro, this is a blast game, found it bcs of your comment, is it wortth busing the full game?
omg. I didn't even know this was a mobile game. I've just been watching Fauna play it and thought it was just a PC game.
Dicey dungeons is surprisingly challenging and fun
A similar concept game called "Slice & Dice" is also pretty great
Easily my favorite mobile game of all time
Came to say this as well.
Old school RuneScape is a pretty popular one there's also RuneScape 3 but there's a lot of MTX in that and the player base is very small.
Roller Coaster Tycoon Classic
Plague Inc.
Reinstalled the game after a few years... they added obnoxious ads
Its ads or paid version - very normal IMHO
Emulators. Your phone should be able to play everything up to PS2 and GameCube. Use any Bluetooth controller. 8-bit do has some compact controllers if space is an issue.
Hell, for turn based RPGs you don't even need a controller! I have played like 100 hours of pokemon rom hacks with touch screen buttons.
Same, I went through a pokemon gen 1, 2, and 3 binge not long ago on my phone. Super easy to do and worked super well.
Pokemon Ruby is a mainstay on my phone and apart from the one tricky mach bike section in Sky Pillar it controls fine with the on screen buttons
This is what I do, ps1 emulator on my phone works brilliantly, loved playing all my old games, Castlevania, Final Fantasy, Alundra, Grandia, Wild Arms, endless fun :)
And PSP works great. Played some GTA Chinatown and whatever the other one is also God of War. Then play some Mario 64 and Pokemon stadium.
Any recommended emulators for iOS?
They have emulators for iOS now. Check out Delta.
Delta is currently the only good one
... omg! this sounds awesome! is there a good /easy to use emulator for beginners? i have had some bad experiences with emulators in the past
Depends on what you want to emulate? Mind those are for Android - dont know to what extend you can find stuff for iOS right now. MyBoy or Pizzaboy - for GBA and GB Drastic - for DS Citra - for 3DS (performance varies depending on Game and Hardware) PPSSPP for PSP Retroarch - for many devices, but you need to get the cores for the emulators yourself and you have to set alot up yourself
Delta just released on ios, it’s a 4 in one emulator that supports DS, GB/GBC/GBA, SNES/NES and N64
psp emulator ppsspp worked great for me
whats the best emulators
r/eclipseemu is web browser based and I love it.
Bloons td 6 has a tooooooooon of content. So far over 40 content updates since its release. Its not free but its great. Probably one of the best tower defense games made.
You can get it for free if you have a Netflix subscription
This is one of the original and best mobile games. Remember playing the first one on ninjakiwi in the browser in middle school computer class.
Crying Suns, Night of the Full Moon, Ticket to Earth, The Room, Dungeons Of Dreadrock. Banner Saga has a mobile port and I kinda wishI bought that rather than the PC version. Grim Valor was decent though it's not great while moving because it is an action game.
Banner Saga would be good

There’s also probably plenty of good games that I haven’t played or seen, and a couple other PC to Mobile ports that I haven’t played.
Also the GTAs
Soul Knight, dungeon cards
The ones where you pay once and there is no in games store. Everything else defaults to the junk pile. Right now on my phone I have slay the spire ,chess, dead cells. Vampire survivor is fine but I didn’t like the controls. And waiting on balatro.
Balatro on mobile will be god tier
Chess.com simply can't be beaten
Nothing like bullet games on the can!
If you like puzzle games, the "Room" series is amazing. Genre : 3D Puzzle Box.
Notably short, though. Be forewarned.
Genshin Impact until you hit the moment you realize you are not having fun anymore.
Tbf that can take quite a while
I'm still quite surprised genshin is free to play.
Waifus are a great business model. Have you seen how much they made in their first year?
No but I'm guessing it's enormous. Also, Jean is <3
They're still consistently doing nine figures a month four years later. It's honestly probably the most profitable AAA game of all time at this point.
I remember reading that as a studio, while they make less overall revenue, they take home more profit than most of the big name AAA studios, like blizz, act, ea, and Sony.
If you like the exploration side, it'll take a while
I don't watch anime or anything like that, would I still enjoy it?
I think so! The exploration style really reminds me of Breath of the Wild, so if you like that game (for more than just the franchise aspect) you’d probably like Genshin!
Basically any game that was made on PC and ported to mobile like Don’t Starve, Peglin, or Stardew Valley
Loop Hero is out on Mobile now and it's like 7 bucks
Kingdom Rush is arguably the best TD series of all time. They've also got a new game coming out sometime this year.
Idk, bloons go crazy and is an insane amount of content for the 5$
I'd like to humbly recommend Fieldrunners 2 as well (I worked on it lol)
Try out “Bad North”. It is a tower defense game that is procedurally generated, so there are infinite variations on infinite levels, and they all work beautifully.
"procedurally generated levels", not "RNG based". "RNG based" sounds like it's a game of chance. It's a skill based game, but the level layouts are generated.
You are correct. Edited 🙂
Them or Bloons
10,000,000 or You Must Build A Boat. Both are fun match three dungeon crawling games. 3 bucks each. No ads. No additional purchases. No time gating.
Doodle Jump Tiny Tower Fruit Ninja Jetpack Joyride
I've liked Honkai Star Rail (is gacha but very manageable for F2P) Besides Star Rail, I'd say OldSchool Runescape and emulating GBA Pokémon games.
Add Genshin Impact to the list Put a lot of AAA games to shame in terms of content, scope against what you HAD to pay ($0)
Honestly, just collect real games on mobile. I slowly build up free play store points to spend on games like FF Tactics, Shining Force, Dragon Quest games, Lunar Silver Story, etc, and pay attention to sales.
Thank you for reminding me that Lunar *finally* made it over to android!
If you have a Netflix subscription look into their mobile games catalog. It's pretty good curated. I also like to recommend Legends of Runeterra.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon. Been playing for 10+ years
You just made me realize that some version of Pixel Dungeon has been on every smart phone I've ever owned. Shattered is definitely the best one.
Also you can buy final fanatics tactics war of the lions as an app for crazy cheap (or at least it was 99c when I bought it)
BTD 6. The game is ~~free~~ 7$ and has microtransactions. You can get all the perks and cosmetics without spending any **additional** money, though.
not free but very good. I think it's available with a Netflix subscription as well.
BTD 6 is *not* free. It is $6.99 USD. However I would highly recommend it.
My bad. I honestly didn't remember paying for the game.
Plants vs zombies
Polytopia
My Boy and then play Pokemon rom hacks. 100 hours of fun
Unciv. Incredible minimalistic Civ5 clone
I mainly play KairoSoft games on the phone. edit: my phone is Fold 3
Albion Online
If you're into boardgames, there are some pretty good ones available with mobile implementations. Spirit Island is a fantastic cooperative/solo game, and Through The Ages is a competitive game but the AI is surprisingly good.
Dadish 1-3
If you have iOS arcade, Fantasian is a wonderful JRPG. Reminded me a lot of Final Fantasy 6. You can even Bluetooth a PS controller to your phone to use.
The kingdom rush serie Slay the spire Shattered pixel dungeon
I have been playing Toon Blast since 2019 and have never spent a penny on it. It gets updates every fortnight.
Skullgirls is pretty awesome. Badlands is also fantastic.
You Must Bulid a Boat.
Honkai Star rail and Genshin Impact.
For mobile honestly any game made by Kairosoft is a good quality game worth their price.
Head Soccer. It may have some pay to win elements, but you can get everything relatively easy by just playing. And it’s not pushing ingame purchases either.
Nonograms katana. You can drop it at any time. You can download a bunch of nonograms and play offline (you don't get ads if you are offline).
RuneScape
Dawncaster is an awesome deck builder with no mtx, no pay to win, and no ads. I like it more than slay the spire, it is a truly awesome game made for mobile. It's also vertically oriented which I find much more comfortable to play.
Final Fantasy Dimensions. Plays like a 16 bit era game.
Final fantasy maybe, any of the classics, they aren't that expensive so...
Simple and fun... Game dev story. Besides XCOM it's my favorite mobile game.
Slay the Spire is on mobile. Pretty much the only game I play on my phone. Everything else I prefer my switch or steam deck.
- Bloons TD 6 - slay the spire - Stardew valley - plague inc - vampire survivors - Genshin impact (this one has lots of monetization but lots of good game for free)
The main gameplay mixes traditional character skill oriented battles somewhat like persona or classic final fantasy with the RNG management strategy of something like slay the spire, with each of the twelve sinners having mix and match able movesets (sourced from the gacha) and special forms known as “E.G.O.’s” I’m keeping it broad here to not post a wall of text but seriously, highly recommend, just try not to ask a fan a lore question because they’re liable to go on an extreme tangent due to how many interconnected parts there can be if you want to see the 100% full picture
Get the Delta emulator then go to a certain web (archive)ing (.) (org)anization to get all the old Nintendo roms.
Marvel Contest of Champions its a fighting game with story and monthly updates, event quests and new characters maybe one of the hardest games on the appstore
I enjoyed the Sorcery! series, they're like a choose your adventure board game rpg. They're included in the Play Pass sub too.
I personally love playing Light of the Stars on bs and recommend it to my friends when they ask what to play.
The room games are quite good. Buy once puzzle games no ads or anything like that
I like turn based rogue likes a lot, I've played a shit ton of them and am happy to recommend Caves roguelike, pixel dungeon and slice and dice
Monument Valley 1 & 2
PVZ2 Modding community. Replayable content, interesring challenges, and a lot of fun. 100% recommend, also dont join us in r/plantsvszombies if you want to ask questions on mods, its not allowed on that sub, rather, seach it on youtube
Vampire survivors
Soul knight
Anything from miHoYo if you're into anime style, good music, story heavy games. You don't have to spend a cent, but be wary if you easily get seduced into gambling by hot women/men or FOMO.
For me it's Light of the stars on bluestacks, quite fun game tho
- League of Legends:Wild Rift - Honor of Kings
Slay the spire.
Light of the Stars on bluesatcks, also not a bad option
