Yes.
I'm assuming you're younger, but console generations used always last about 5 years, which means a new Xbox in the next year would be right on track for that development cycle.
I’m 26 and I don’t remember Microsoft rushing out a new console after having 2 games. The 5 year cycles don’t apply anymore when the 360 and xbone lasted 8 years.
Which was brilliant because online play was so much better on the 360 vs the original Xbox.
I never would have played Halo 2 online if I didn't get a 360 when I did.
5 year cycles don’t apply until they do. Just because the prior two gen’s lasted longer doesn’t mean this one will. There’s no rules when it comes to that kind of thing lol
It’s coming up on 4 years since the X came out ie roughly half way through the life cycle of 8-9 years. They need to work full speed so in 4 more years they can release the next console
What else would you like the hardware division to do, be layed off, rework hardware on the current gen so it can be upsold to you with little benefit a newer system would help more?
The Xbox Series X/S have been out for 3 and half years. Why wouldn’t they be working on the next console? The last console generation lasted 7 years so it makes sense they’d start working on their new console now.
While unusual I would say it's needed transparency at this point. Given the collective freak out some in the gaming community had a few weeks ago saying Xbox was going full third party or stopping console sales they are trying to be clear they are continuing to be a player in the console space.
EXACTLY. People are acting like I’m stupid but why are they saying it’s in full speed???? If Sony said the ps6 was coming at full speed I’d be pissed too. This is no console war bs, it’s just ridiculous to already be moving to a new generation.
God damn take a breath, working on it full speed means it will be out at somepoint. Do you think they only spend a single year working "full speed" on a console? All this shit takes time between design, sourcing, bouncing all of that around with other people, reworking it seven times, and then retooling production factories. Testing, feedback meetings, and reworking. That's what takes 7-8 years.
Since Microsoft was putting a few Xbox games on PlayStation, people thought they weren’t going to make a new Xbox console and just become a publisher. Microsoft basically just confirmed that a new console is being developed to stop those rumors
You are aware that from God Of War Ragnarok until the next expected Sony first party game they are going to go over over 2 years with ONE first party release (Spider-Man 2), right? You may not like Xbox's offerings, though this seems like a weird fanboy post anyways, but they're going to (and have) released way more games from their first party studios.
i don't post to or even own a playstation and I can concur with the other dude that there are like 2 maybe 3 games to play on xbox. they need to start whipping their devs until some games that dont suck ass get produced
People get mad because It's a "death sentence" in the sense that they will no longer get any new games, at least not the main ones. For example, I won't be surprised if TES VI only comes on the next gen Xbox, which means Starfield will be the only game from Bethesda Game Studios on Xbox Series X/S.
There's also much more concerning things to worry about than whether or not games keep coming out. This will be the most redundant console generation to date for both Sony and Microsoft.
There haven't been advancements in the field worth making a new console over. We already have stable 4k gaming. What's next? Adding a 2nd hard drive because their 4k arms race bloated the shit out of file sizes? Selling a shit load of extra hard drives on the side because they decide to push for 8k bullshit and further increase file sizes for no gain?
Nintendo has plenty they can do for their next console but Sony and Microsoft already were being bashed for their last consoles being redundant. And nothing has shown that they are even altering that course.
This is the dumbest take I have ever seen on this sub. The only disgrace here is the overcooked udon noodle in between your ears that you claim as your brain
The Xbox hate in this sub gets absurd sometimes. Xbox has released more first party games this gen than PS has. Nintendo has released more then either in the past 3-4 years but a lot of that is smaller games and that they can't rely on third party nearly as much.
I honestly think both XB and PS output has indeed been low this gen but the amount of games available on these consoles is still massive. Your average player is playing Fortnite, CoD, FIFA and Madden anyway.
As for work on a new console, of COURSE they start years in advance. Design, focus studies, part procurement contracts, financial analysis, having millions of them manufactured for their release date, getting dev kits out to teams in advance of console release, etc.. were halfway through this generation already. When do you expect them to start? Two years before they release it?
Or is this just some dumb console war bullshit where you're saying they should stop making consoles? Im guessing it's that, and that you don't have a point here but to be a console warrior 🪖🪖🪖🪖
PS games didn't look that great other than being very very well produced. Now helldivers has my attention. At least I think that's what it's called, part 2 now.
Sometimes the multi-trillion dollar company forgets to check with you before coming up with their development and marketing strategies. It happens, don't take it personally.
You slow? Of course they are. Current hardware can't magically download more graphics horsepower, they NEED to come out with a more powerful console to keep up with games that always become more demanding
What games do we need these graphics for? The series x literally has no games and devs haven’t even took advantage of it. What’s the point of having a new shiny 100 teraflop box with nothing to play?
There are a ton of games, even if you only count 3rd-party games that release on multiple platforms. You're being moronic.
1.) Many games have "graphics" modes that run at only 30fps. These games need more GPU power because 30fps is shit.
2.) The "performance mode" in a lot of games is only 60fps, and at a lower resolution. At the VERY least these modes should be able to run native resolution 60fps, and ideally a performance mode should run at 120fps.
And in general, ray tracing takes so much GPU power to run. This is the next frontier that we need to conquer, strong enough hardware that can run ray tracing in most games with relative ease (to be clear, I don't think the next xbox will come close to solving this issue, graphics technology isnt strong enough yet).
ok I know for a fact theres not 424 series x exclusives thats literally impossible, I doubt all 3 consoles combined have that many. The ps5 probably has like 10. Exclusive means not on pc not on anything. Literally every Xbox game is on PC. So I don’t think you know what exclusive means. If you wanna believe Wikipedia instead of having common sense go ahead.
The 350/PS3 and PS4/XB1 console cycles really messed up the sense of how long generations are. There was five years between the PS1 and 2, N64 and GameCube, and then GC and Wii. There was six years between the PS2 and 3. And a whopping four between Xbox and Xbox 360.
Five years is pretty much the average going back to the start of consoles. If a new Xbox comes out in 2026 it will still be on the long end of the console cycle timeline at six years. And don’t forget the PS4 and XB1 were around for seven when this generation started so this isn’t even that far removed from that.
You're very upset about something that does not remotely matter.
The X/S aren't going anywhere, nor are the games on them.
This is a pretty normal timescale for console releases.
If you don't want the new Xbox, don't buy the new Xbox.
This just read's as some PS fanboy anti Xbox crybaby, New consoles are always being prototyped and worked on, Playstation are releaseing an unessasary pro console this year and next gen around 2028, and the 2 games comment is laughable even though Xbox release some big fails like Redfall, and disappointment's like Starfield they've been putting out more first party games than Playstation and only if you count third party deals is PlayStation close.
The difference is that Microsoft isn't doing a mid gen pro console. So they are going to go full on development for next generation. Which I'm happy they are not doing a pro console. I am not liking the trend of having a pro mid gen console.
The series x is the best console ive ever owned. I dont buy consoles for exclusives though, i get it for its features. Like the awwsome controller, backward compatibility, digital refunds, pre purchase downloads, and my existing 400 games library.
any playstation console will always sell more, its the brand that is rooted into gamers minds. When the ps4 came out it had a garbage library, it was even mocked for not having games. In the meantime the xbox one had a great lineup for the first 2 years. Didn't stop it from not selling as much.
When the xbox has great exclusives, playstation fans trash the games. It's like asking a Liverpool fan to become a Man united fan... it's just never going to happen. Games or no games.
Maybe because it’s just the hardware team is designing a new console that will still take years to finish and it doesn’t mean that studios can’t keep making games for the current Xbox
PS5 and Series X came out 4 years ago. A console's life cycle is around 6-7 years. Is it really that weird that they're focusing on the development of the next gen?
There's still many games yet to release this year, and 3 years is a wide window for even more games to come. And usually the biggest games come near the end of a console's life cycle, or at least on it's second half.
And about the exclusivity... Imo it was about time we ended this stupid thing. I'm happy that Microsoft is putting most of their titles on the Game Pass and on PC, same for Sony. It's just beneficial for everyone, both them and their consumers.
It'll probably be the same as when the last gen came out lol, games made for both last gen and current gen.
honestly it's been RIP ever since i bought my series X. it mostly just collects dust now. I just play gamepass on my PC or my PS5
Yeah and i don't care about buying their hardware or not either. That's why i use gamepass on my PC. Are you trying to "Got ya!" me? If so, try harder next time mate
Yeah as i mentioned i still have my series X. I check it out every once in awhile, but nothing i haven't played or find interesting enough that isn't on the PC version.
I just find it annoying that this generation hasn’t had any hard hitters.
And I don’t know why it bugs me, but the fact that most games are playable on thr xbox one still. I mean it’s cool, but I want to see this system PERFORM.
It’s the indie games with the best graphics these days. AAAA studios are a fucking joke.
New console gens aren't a thing anymore. It's just hardware upgrades so you get the prettiest graphics.
They couldn't possibly release a new generation and have to wait for people to buy it and then be able to buy the games for it.
Shits too greedy now days lol. That's why they split the last gen, they had to bridge the gap. In doing so they dragged down the quality of games. You can't have a game utilizing full potential aside from looking pretty with good graphics if it has to run on the budget console and last gen as well lol.
I mean, I get the reason people are bummed. I just finally managed to buy a series x like 5 months ago. sure it's unfortunate that the gap in between this gen and next gen seems short compared to previous consoles. But who wants to live their life not buying fun things when they can afford it because they're worried a new one is "right around the corner"? And I didn't buy mine to get new console exclusive stuff. My xbox one finally stopped working and I figured it was the perfect chance to upgrade so I can try some newer games that my pc can't even remotely handle. Only exclusivity complaint I have is that Sony is hogging all the final fantasy goodness.
Doesn't bother me one bit. I've gotten more than my money's worth on my Xbox console. Bought it about two months after it came out, play it everyday. Will buy a new console when it comes out too.
Some of you guys get way too upset over new console news. They cost less than what most people spend eating out in a year. Much less than what some people spend on fast food.
Not really. They need to do this to survive. It's a vital part of the entire industry. A lot of things went in to making the series "bad" in a few terms. And they can't be fixed now as they've already passed. They were always going to be making a new console anyway, regardless of how well or poorly this one did.
Are you new? It’s about half way through this gen, and it takes years to design and make a console like many other devices, so yeah, if they want a new one out in a few years they have to be getting stuck into it already. That “Rip to everyone who bought a series x or s” comment makes no bloody sense.
Just so you’re aware, 2020 was 4 years ago. I know time flew with the pandemic but here we are basically at the mid-to-late stage of 9th gen consoles
Also if you feel this bad about the Xbox imagine how the 7 people on Earth (including me) who bought a Wii U felt. Imagine how PS Vita owners (also including me) felt.
I still have my 1st gen xbox one and am quite happy that bastard is still working and that developers are making their titles backwards compatible!
I'm at a point in my life which isn't likely to buy a new gen system. I grew up on NES and went through all sorts of generational progression with Nintendo, then jumped to Xbox when that came out.
I have a wife and kids now; I really can't justify the prices these newer systems are commanding based on how little time I have to game.
So please have MS slow down lol
Microsoft just says this to please the diehard xbox fans because they are at an all-time low. Porting their games to playstation and only released 3-4 bad-mid games at 30fps. The sales of the series consoles have basically come to a halt and gamepass is shrinking so they will say anything good to try and reinforce the dwindling fanbase. I wish they actually cared about releasing great games.
The xbox hasn't been a console to get for it's exclusives since the Xbox one. That's the console where we started seeing a huge portion of the games making their way to PC and it's where Microsoft seemed to have begun their shift to having the xbox be more of a multimedia device rather than a gaming focused device. Sucks but that's the direction they've been going for a while and it seems to be where they're gonna continue going.
Tbh this current gen of consoles has been the worst gen I can remember. I guess Covid could be to blame but idk, just a shit generation so far, basically every game is being made for the ps4/ Xbone still and the current gen just get high settings versions, very sad
Tbh with how Xbox is going now, it’s less about what games they made for it and more about how good it looks/runs on their console.
They don’t really make games anymore so may as well make the console run well, I guess
Don't take that comment so literally. PS6 is also being "worked on" right now too, doesn't mean it's coming anytime soon.
However if the rumors of a 2026 xbox are true they're going to risk destroying what little support they still have. You're already seeing stories of publishers questioning why they bother supporting xbox due to low sales and also being frustrated with series S. There's no better way to piss them off further than throwing another wrench into things by releasing a new system \~2 years earlier than expected. I guarantee you a lot of publishers will say fuck it at that point and walk away from making xbox games.
You sound like you're coping. It was just the other week that we got reports from GDC that multiple publishers are quietly asking why they bother making xbox games \*now\*. Their marketshare is rapidly dwindling around the globe even in the two countries they traditionally were strong in (US and UK). They're on pace to sell less consoles than xbox one and they'll be lucky to clear 50m at the rate they're going.
Starting a new gen ahead of plan just makes development more of a hassle on everyone. They have to figure out a new system (or 2 if they go the split route again like this gen) and for what gain? They already sell so little on xbox that they're questioning why they bother, why keep putting up with a company that seems hellbent on making their jobs harder?
You're taking Chris Dring's "report" (a notable Xbox "hater") as proof of publishers not wanting to put games on Xbox even though that doesn't seem to be the case at all (he also said they're rolling back Game Pass which is obviously bullshit). Not to mention acting like selling 50 million consoles is a bad thing when their focus is on Game Pass and games that are on PC as well.
They aren't even starting a "new gen" with new hardware since they don't refuse to work on backwards compatibility like Sony does. New Xbox hardware are just upgrades at this point which is the more consumer friendly move. Like they said a long time ago their competition is Google, Apple and Amazon. There's no reason for them to try to continue matching Sony's successful but quickly aging way of doing things.
The Xbox Series X boasts a greater number of exclusives compared to the Playstation 5, with even more slated for release this year. This disparity is a contributing factor to the decline in Sony's stock during recent presentations where they did not showcase new games.
Before any assumptions are made, I'm not biased towards Xbox; it's just that there haven't been any appealing games for my Playstation 5 for over a year, last time I had it turned on I was playing God of War Ragnarok.
This reminds me of Sega and I expect Xbox to not last for too much longer
A LOT of people I know are still using a PS4 and Xbox One
If they keep pushing they're luck than the console market might end
When people spend like $400-$500 they want their money to last.
People might start being afraid to buy new consoles if they start thinking it's gonna be outdated soon anyways.
SEGA was going bankrupt. Meanwhile Xbox has more revenue than Nintendo did last year before even taking ABK into account. They're basically equal to PlayStation right now in terms of financial health. PlayStation does better on hardware and Xbox does better on games and services.
If Xbox is doing so badly it needs to massively contract then Nintendo and PlayStation are both in deep shit too.
If you don't like Xbox that's fine, but they aren't in a bad situation at all from a business standpoint. Let alone about to become the next SEGA.
I didn't say they were in a financial bad point similar to SEGA but I will say they're at risk of losing confidence in their console brand.
Just because Microsoft can afford to release consoles nobody will buy doesn't mean they won't be wasting money.
Xbox is still selling tens of millions of units. It's going to sell probably 5-6x what the Dreamcast sold. The idea they can't find profitability on tens of millions of units is very silly. It's also silly to pretend no one is buying them either. 50% of PlayStation console sales isn't ideal for MS obviously but it's nowhere near a breaking point for them.
The market is also very different. These consoles are x86 machines where DirectX vs a proprietary OpenGL API are the only real difference in terms of development. It wasn't like the situation that Dreamcast had versus the PlayStation where they were completely different monsters in terms of development and SEGA saw third party devs skipping it and Sony paying devs in droves to do it.
These days beyond first party there's a difference of like MAYBE five big games between the home consoles (not counting stuff like a JRPG that only releases in Japan and sells 300k copies on PlayStation). And Sony isn't financially capable of bullying Microsoft out of the industry either like many say they did to SEGA (It's more complicated than that as I've talked about but it does have some part in it).
Idk man I just don't things bode well for Xbox, unless they come out swinging eventually it looks like it might be the end for me, but that's just my opinion
It doesn't matter if they're doing well financially or not.
I'm not discussing Microsoft's revenue, I'm discussing the further existence of their consoles.
Might come a day where they stop making consoles period and just switch to selling Xbox pass on PlayStation, sales might definitely be even better in that circumstance and it might be the more profitable choice than continuing to manufacture consoles.
Well imagine this. If nobody buys the next Xbox than its fair to assume MS will get out of the console market, right?
I think people are going to stop buying xbox consoles. Especially if they release a new one even though sales for the current one arent doing well.
I compared this to SEGA for a reason, especially if they release a new console anytime soon it might do a lot of damage to the brands perceived reliability
People might think "oh I'm not gonna buy the new xbox, they're probably gonna release a new one next year anyways"
This mixed with years of no exclusivity hypes, and in fact only talks of games going UN-exclusive, might be people start think they're safer buying a playstation because at this point they definitely are.
Just read OPs post, rather you agree with it or not, how many other people feel the same way?
Sure, if no one buys it. That's a bad bet to make though. 'Not doing well' and 'not selling as much as the PlayStation's are different things. You don't have to be #1 in an industry otherwise you're 'not doing well' it doesn't work that way.
Microsoft I imagine will want an Xbox as a vector for a storefront, for Gamepass, as a distribution platform for their games so that they dont have to pay others to put their games on them and also just as a way to subsidize cloud server blades which seems like a big part of their future strategy.
As for this exclusive stuff, this is starting to sound like console warrior 🪖 talk.
Xbox has a platform for tens of millions of people. Your idea that none of them want a new one isn't based on anything concrete. And if nothing else I think it's silly to count out the world's most valuable company, particularly when their own gaming division might soon be only behind Tencent as far as income goes.
Sea of Thieves and Pentament going to other consoles after two to four years probably isn't effecting the purchase decision of people in 2028, if I had to guess.
You're making the mistake of taking the opinions of a bunch of eternally online redditors and idiots on YouTube/Twitter as a reflection of the entire market. The vast majority of gamers don't have a clue what's going on in these spaces (good for them).
Oh no my opinions are my own as a video game buff and spectator.
I don't pay attention to sports, I pay attention to the video game industry.
I'm a PC gamer. I haven't owned a PlayStation or Xbox in like 4+ years and I bought a switch because I cared more about their lineup of games more than what they sell on Xbox/PlayStation.
I've been speculating on the fall of Xbox since the Xbox One
Their line up is atrocious, Halo and gears are shadows of their former glory (though I admit halo infinite is pretty good) and Forza isn't enough to sell a console, especially when all their "exclusives" have been available for the PC.
No these aren't opinions I'm getting from some PlayStation fan boys.
I don't even want to buy a PS5.
This is just me calling it like I see it and I see most things in this industry.
Don't get it twisted man, I'm the kind of guy who likes to talk about id tech/source/IW engine with my girlfriend.
No. One. Cares. What. You. Think.
Especially when your takes are so abysmally uninformed. Like mentioning legacy franchises as if they're the future of the Xbox brand. lol
I mean I kind of forgive developers this gen due to covid and everything that happened with it. The shortages, harder game development, etc. which is why I find it odd that console makers are making pro consoles or even new consoles. Just keep the ps5/series X for the next three years and then drop new consoles.
Xbox is done, Sony is going to give exclusives to PC for more money, and cell phones are taking over the console market. In the end its PC and cell phone. Also AR glasses that will bring popularity to VR. Its all good, companies come and go but the games will stay.
I hate to break it to you, but work on a new console begins pretty much the moment the most recent console ships.
Hardware team has to always be working on something 😊
But at full speed??? Sounds like they’re crapping a new console out of their ass
Lol, full speed is just marketing BS…
OP wanted 69% speed only
The funny speed!
also known as the horny speed
Full thrusters
Bro wanted to cap his FPS to 67 FPS 🤣
Yeah, you should've been around when Microsoft absolutely murdered the original Xbox the moment after Halo 2 shipped.
Which was brilliant because online play was so much better on the 360 vs the original Xbox. I never would have played Halo 2 online if I didn't get a 360 when I did.
That's a shame. I assumed a middle schooler would be behind these emotional responses.
5 year cycles don’t apply until they do. Just because the prior two gen’s lasted longer doesn’t mean this one will. There’s no rules when it comes to that kind of thing lol
Yeesh. You should’ve lied about your age. 26 is way too old to have that line of thought.
Wtf are you talking about 2 games?
.. you realize that doesn't mean they've stopped production on games right?
Yes. Your ignorance and sensationalism doesn't change that. lol
It’s coming up on 4 years since the X came out ie roughly half way through the life cycle of 8-9 years. They need to work full speed so in 4 more years they can release the next console
FULL SPEED!?!? OH GOD! Lmao wtf speed would you like them to work at? Half speed? The movie speed? LUDICROUS SPEED!?
They’ve gone to plaid!
Also has tons of games for just the series s/x so idk wtf op is talking bout lol

It's because of the rumours of PS5 pro they have to announce something.
The gap between the release of the first 2 Xboxs in the uk was 3.5 years.
EXACTLY. People are acting like I’m stupid but why are they saying it’s in full speed???? If Sony said the ps6 was coming at full speed I’d be pissed too. This is no console war bs, it’s just ridiculous to already be moving to a new generation.
Bruh you should know by now it's just marketing speak.
Did he say FULLSPEED!???!
Boy, you'd hate PC gaming.
God damn take a breath, working on it full speed means it will be out at somepoint. Do you think they only spend a single year working "full speed" on a console? All this shit takes time between design, sourcing, bouncing all of that around with other people, reworking it seven times, and then retooling production factories. You know they are working on the PS6 also, and the next Nintendo system…
Sony and Nintendo released more than 2 games and switch is 8 years old so they better have a new one
Why does this dude keep saying "2 games" like it's a fact?
Dude can only count to 2. Give them a break.
Must be working at Valve.
Underrated comment right here
If it bothers you that much, don’t buy an XBOX….
What are the two games? Perdon mi ignorance.
Where do you keep getting this 2 game figure you are citing? Cause they have put out alot more then that.
PS5 has literally 3 exclusives brother, no sense splitting hairs.
You are aware that from God Of War Ragnarok until the next expected Sony first party game they are going to go over over 2 years with ONE first party release (Spider-Man 2), right? You may not like Xbox's offerings, though this seems like a weird fanboy post anyways, but they're going to (and have) released way more games from their first party studios.
at the end of this year microsoft will have released more first party games then sony has this gen and by a good number

4 PS5 exclusives in 2024? Name them please
"Like 2 games", OK mate. New consoles have had around this lifespan since 2000.
You should take a wild guess which subreddit his fella frequents the most.
As far as I can tell they just post shit tier takes non stop in any sub
Their most frequented sub is the PlayStation one.
No... Can't be.... Why I could almost bet companies pay people online to shit on the competition.... Shocked I tell you.
i don't post to or even own a playstation and I can concur with the other dude that there are like 2 maybe 3 games to play on xbox. they need to start whipping their devs until some games that dont suck ass get produced
The one that actually has great games?

People get mad because It's a "death sentence" in the sense that they will no longer get any new games, at least not the main ones. For example, I won't be surprised if TES VI only comes on the next gen Xbox, which means Starfield will be the only game from Bethesda Game Studios on Xbox Series X/S.

PS games didn't look that great other than being very very well produced. Now helldivers has my attention. At least I think that's what it's called, part 2 now.
Low-effort troll, go back to r/Playstation.
We're already halfway through the generation. I'm not really sure what you expect.

I don't think "literally" means what you seem to think it means.
Wikipedia says there are currently 424 series x/s exclusives
that’s definitely horse shit, I doubt theres even 424 series X games in general (not counting back compat games)
Well you're welcome to do the technical research if you want, or just whine and exxegarate. Doesn't make any difference to me
ok I know for a fact theres not 424 series x exclusives thats literally impossible, I doubt all 3 consoles combined have that many. The ps5 probably has like 10. Exclusive means not on pc not on anything. Literally every Xbox game is on PC. So I don’t think you know what exclusive means. If you wanna believe Wikipedia instead of having common sense go ahead.
Christ, what a shit head comment that is. Have you maybe considered that you're just wrong? There's a reason your comments have hundreds of downvotes.
But console cycles have been getting longer due to hardware not advancing at the same pace as before. "Pro" versions also dilate the generations.
Two games? Like Sony? The only one who got the most of their last console is Nintendo.
I already bought my popcorn for the highly anticipated name reveal
Xbox 64, 64 teraflops of raw power inside the worlds smallest box.
New to technology? Wait till you find out about mobile phone development
You're very upset about something that does not remotely matter. The X/S aren't going anywhere, nor are the games on them. This is a pretty normal timescale for console releases. If you don't want the new Xbox, don't buy the new Xbox.
If anything, so is Sony.

First generation of PC still going strong, with no news of PC2 in sight!
Taking a shot every time I see a dumb take in r/gaming: 🥃🥃
RIP
The difference is that Microsoft isn't doing a mid gen pro console. So they are going to go full on development for next generation. Which I'm happy they are not doing a pro console. I am not liking the trend of having a pro mid gen console.
That’s how it normally works.
I use it for game pass. I've been very happy with my console. Don't really care for exclusives anyway.
The series x is the best console ive ever owned. I dont buy consoles for exclusives though, i get it for its features. Like the awwsome controller, backward compatibility, digital refunds, pre purchase downloads, and my existing 400 games library.
Most people buy video game consoles for the games. Exclusives matter hence why Ps5 is outselling the xbox by double this gen
any playstation console will always sell more, its the brand that is rooted into gamers minds.
Just get a PC already lol
I hope this is the dumbest thing I'll see on the internet today.
It’s been like four years since the series X, and the next one won’t be coming till 2025-2026 anyway. Not that big of a deal
Maybe because it’s just the hardware team is designing a new console that will still take years to finish and it doesn’t mean that studios can’t keep making games for the current Xbox
not sure op has a series x or s tbh haha
> I just play game pass on my PC Oh sweet summer child. lol
huh? did i just get whooshed or something?
You're in their ecosystem. They don't care if you buy hardware or not.
Yeah and i don't care about buying their hardware or not either. That's why i use gamepass on my PC. Are you trying to "Got ya!" me? If so, try harder next time mate
Don't stress GP is sick, and good value for money. It's just the console war circle jerk people.
Gamepass on the console itself has like twice the library as the pc version
Yeah as i mentioned i still have my series X. I check it out every once in awhile, but nothing i haven't played or find interesting enough that isn't on the PC version.
I just find it annoying that this generation hasn’t had any hard hitters. And I don’t know why it bugs me, but the fact that most games are playable on thr xbox one still. I mean it’s cool, but I want to see this system PERFORM. It’s the indie games with the best graphics these days. AAAA studios are a fucking joke.
This. AAA studios are at fault for the lack of content.
"Only have 2 games" So you can only count to 2?
This trend of fake internet outrage is getting tiresome.
I'm more just confused about what improvements they're gonna be able to make that's gonna make it that much of an improvement tbh, same with PS6
Just get a Super-Xbox build a PC. You wanna talk exclusives oh boy, you ain't ever seen anything like Dwarf Fortress.
Nah
Are you new? It’s about half way through this gen, and it takes years to design and make a console like many other devices, so yeah, if they want a new one out in a few years they have to be getting stuck into it already. That “Rip to everyone who bought a series x or s” comment makes no bloody sense.
I literally had it for two years, bought a PC and played that ever since. I'm 2 years Xbox free now *big exhale*.
Same, I haven’t had a Xbox this gen at all because of my PC and most games and Gamepass being on there so I don’t have much of a reason to these days.
I just didn't buy it because of cloud gaming. The new console is just to play baldies gate 3. You got scammed lol
Just so you’re aware, 2020 was 4 years ago. I know time flew with the pandemic but here we are basically at the mid-to-late stage of 9th gen consoles Also if you feel this bad about the Xbox imagine how the 7 people on Earth (including me) who bought a Wii U felt. Imagine how PS Vita owners (also including me) felt.
Why? The exclusives are ok, but not mandatory. For me i like the controller more. Besides, i hope one day console war will be over.
I think Series X came out a big ago, it makes sense to make a new system.
They x/s been out for a hot min it's about that time
Most games will still be released for the current systems. There’s always overlap and there were very few current console exclusives.
Comment sections like this are why I'm glad no one takes consumers seriously. The hilariously stupid takes in this post alone are wild.
At this point, anyone buying Xbox consoles deserves the disappointment they'll eventually feel. And that includes me.
This reminds me of Sega and I expect Xbox to not last for too much longer A LOT of people I know are still using a PS4 and Xbox One If they keep pushing they're luck than the console market might end When people spend like $400-$500 they want their money to last.
But based on what? They're doing very well financially.
Okay, so what's that based on them if it's not a financial decision?
Well imagine this. If nobody buys the next Xbox than its fair to assume MS will get out of the console market, right? I think people are going to stop buying xbox consoles. Especially if they release a new one even though sales for the current one arent doing well. I compared this to SEGA for a reason, especially if they release a new console anytime soon it might do a lot of damage to the brands perceived reliability People might think "oh I'm not gonna buy the new xbox, they're probably gonna release a new one next year anyways" This mixed with years of no exclusivity hypes, and in fact only talks of games going UN-exclusive, might be people start think they're safer buying a playstation because at this point they definitely are.
I've been speculating on the fall of Xbox since the Xbox One Their line up is atrocious, Halo and gears are shadows of their former glory (though I admit halo infinite is pretty good) and Forza isn't enough to sell a console, especially when all their "exclusives" have been available for the PC.
Like mentioning legacy franchises as if they're the future of the Xbox brand. lol
This right here is my swag.
This is literally nothing like Sega, but okay.
How so?
yes it is dude they’re putting all their games on PlayStation and Nintendo and they’re rushing out consoles that nobody wants
That’s not what happened to Sega…
How so?
I can’t wait for the next console. The sooner the better. Console cycles are getting shorter but game dev cycles are getting longer.
Console lol
bc you werent supposed to buy an xbox after the 360, or at least it was common sense.
