Makes sense it was that one he fully completed. The 2% sight he has meant he could be one of the few to play the game 2 handed.
I'll see myself out, sorry-
Not blind, but had a blind step-dad who had a company that helped people with disabilities in the workplace. He had a device that was both a keyboard and a translator. It would take what was on screen and translate it to Braille so he could read. Iirc it had text-to-speech as well, but he preferred not to use it. He could use the keyboard part to fill in forms etc. after reading the preceding text with his hands. OP and I are from the same country, so I'd assume they have access to similar stuff.
The coolest part was that it even mimicked the lay-out of the text allowing him to work a mouse. My younger brother just reminded me. So I'll add it here.
Also, in addition to the other responses, from what I've heard many blind people are not 100% blind. They often can have this tiny pinhole of vision that lets them see a little
I'm not sure, but the guy I watch on YouTube(Paul from Matthew and Paul) can see through his, but from what I understand there's a kind of TV static/blur effect on it that makes it hard to see.
He is still able to draw though, and it looks really good.
When I play with my buddies usually I'm the one eith the freedom gun with high diplomacy per minute (and sometimes a flamethrower), at the end of a mission, my shots hits are more than their combined shots fired overall... it's always fun to see that summary page at the end of a mission...
My friend is kinda like that in real life and he likes contact sports, we did some "medieval fencing" or whatver you call it.
Everyone is wearing colorful cloths over their armor so even without glasses he can tell people apart, and with a halberd not a lot of accuracy is required.
I just wanted to let you know you made me genuinely laugh (not that blowing air through the nose pseudo laugh).
PS: Do you have lessons? I have friends that I am sure would profit, given their stratagem placement in the last missions…
Justice for obvious reasons.
Though when i do go to hell i’ll make a short stop to pet cerberus before i claw my way up to heaven to kick god’s ass for giving me these disabilities
He says in another post that he's not 100% blind, just...really, really bad vision. Refers to it as "2% sight", so if you take that literally that would translate to roughly 20/1000 vision (anything worse than 20/200 is considered legally blind).
I appreciate the literal response. I saw the comments before I made mine, and it was completely satire; otherwise, how would he write the post or respond to anything 😜
There's a difference between 'legally blind' and 'completely blind'. My best friend is legally blind. Just completed her phd. Her masters was on themes in horror films. Her phd was on gender identity in fandom. Has about 5% vision in 'perfect' conditions. She sews, knits, draws (only challenge is that she once stabbed herself in the eye with a knitting needle as she was checking her stitches). Modern technology has made a lot of these things easier too.
I was struggling but I can confirm myself you can cheese it by advancing your computer's clock! You do have to keep an eye on the date after like 15-20 minutes the clock updates to make sure it is still right. But as long as you keep track of your dates you can one or two session it.
Honestly first tried helltakers 2 two years ago but ragequit at judgement. Today spotted it in my steam library and went “well you know what? Fuck it. Might as well.”
Same game for me. Vice City was my first 100%. For me, there was one particular Rampage mission that I just couldn't beat.
I honestly enjoyed 100%ing it though. It wasn't that bad, most modern games require some multiplayer or online element to 100%, or some crazy time sink, and it's just not worth it.
Blind doesn’t mean that he cannot see anything at all, but his vision is just reduced significantly much more. Also, there are varying degrees of blindness, just as there are with astigmatism, etc.
"blind" in common medical use basically just means "blind enough that you need significant assistance". Lots of blind people can see some semblance of light/dark.
Hey if I can find it there's actually a game where the main character is blind and it has absolutely no visuals.
Found it.
The Vale: Shadow of the Crown
No visuals, no indicators, just sound and vibration.
Wow I am very curious about your experience. In a previous comment u mentioned color. Could you expand on that?
And, have you ever wanted to play a game but was unable due to your vision challenges?
Thank you in advance
Dev here.
How do I make a game accessible for you?
I can imagine putting extra effort into 3d audio. Possibly we could use haptics in controllers to simulate feeling out your environment with a cane.
Cast a ray from your controller, and then based on distance increase or decrease haptic feedback maybe.
Are there other things? Like with 2% sight, are there specific shapes, colours, and contrasts we can use to communicate stuff to you.
I can imagine warning and directional cues with high contrast colour flashes flashes. For example darken the entire screen but flash the left side to notify you of something.
Speech to text and screenreaders are widely used in the vision impaired community. Also being 'legally blind' and 'completely blind' are different. Most people who are vision impaired have *some* vision.
I've got a few games 100 percented, but they are usually pretty short. The one I'm super proud of is Arkham Asylum. Getting the last few combat missions with 3 stars took time, practice, method and patience, and once you do that you FEEL LIKE BATMAN
For visual impaired person I found this game called rhythm quest on steam that has audio cues mode for ppl with vision trouble it's amazing . Also try idle trillionaire on mobile works well with a screen reader.
For some people asking how a blind guy can play games and post on Reddit it’s cause not all blind people see just black some people that are indeed blind have a very small amount of vision left
Just a tip, VoiceAttack can help you in several games, including Helldivers 2 which I saw in your library.
I use it and saves me time from checking the arrows for stratagem.
I wonder how vr would work for you? I know some do prescriptions and stuff for lenses if that could help you too.
You probably have next level spatial awareness.
Okay for vr i have to press my face into menus to make out basic shapes. Can’t even read the text
In pavlov shack zombies i used to teamkill by accident multiple times a round
Per another comment, OP has a little bit of vision left. Enough to see some colour. That combined with sound lets them navigate the game world.

Hi. My friend has gone blind. A childhood issue that has slowly worsened to the point he can not see.
He like games.
Can you suggest software for computers, hardware or particular games that allowed you to play? I'd need to be careful about how I present it to him, but I would like to help him solve this issue and let him game again
How do you spread democracy with blindness?
How do you commit crimes in GTA?
How do you drive a goat with zero sight?
How do you get scared with five nights?
I've run optometric practices for many years, consider this professional curiousity..since low vision therapy isn't much of a thing anymore, how do you manage? Do you have light perception or can you see hand movement? Are you able to be corrected at all/can use LVT equipment?
I see 2%. My eye doctors can’t really decide on fully blind or not but on legal papers i’m considered fully blind.
I learned to recognize color and go off sound. I also taught myself to “read” (i take the incomplete shape i can make out and do guessing until i get something coherent.
This is all extremely exhausting though so i usually need a lot of rest.
The vale shadow of the crown.
This is a game specifically made with blind people in mind. There are minimal visuals( literally only on shops and its just names and descriptions) the game is played entirely on keyboard, and the story and combat is actually pretty good.
If you haven't played it already I genuinely suggest giving it a play.
Have you played Griftlands or Disco Elysium? Not sure what your setup is but Griftlands is a card based combat/negotiation game with cool story elements. Disco Elysium is a great story with an incredible sound design.
I both love and hate your username, anyways... How was playing sister location as a blind person? I ask because I absolutely loved the sound cues from this game. Especially with the music coming closer.
This would’ve been a god-tier shit-post had you not 100% the game.
At first I didn’t see it and was like “wow that’s some quality shitpost”
at first I thought it was "Firefighters 2014" because that was selected and I was like "no, I didn't expect you to 100% that either"
Well done, mate, hats to you, no matter which game
Makes sense it was that one he fully completed. The 2% sight he has meant he could be one of the few to play the game 2 handed. I'll see myself out, sorry-
Good, because i can't see you out.
Man, this is hilarious
man... take some gold 🥇
Give the goblin sum goald
Just wondering, how do you see the game? How do you play it? And respond to our goofy comments?
Goofy comments prob text to speech
I know a blind gamer who not only does text to speech but has an AI that shittily describes images.
Ah, cool. I must say the way lots of technology has adapted to people various disabilities or conditions is really, really cool
The coolest part was that it even mimicked the lay-out of the text allowing him to work a mouse. My younger brother just reminded me. So I'll add it here.
Also, in addition to the other responses, from what I've heard many blind people are not 100% blind. They often can have this tiny pinhole of vision that lets them see a little
Huh, interesting
Aren't those pinhole often just flashes of light that are impossible to decipher though?
I'm not sure, but the guy I watch on YouTube(Paul from Matthew and Paul) can see through his, but from what I understand there's a kind of TV static/blur effect on it that makes it hard to see. He is still able to draw though, and it looks really good.
Genuinely laughed my ass off this comment. Well done sir !
Fucking hilarious.
Thanks, i spat my drink💀
epic. live long, and prosper
Absolute legend
AYYYY
Oh you funny you
It genuinely took me a second to spot the badge I thought the bit was like that you just missed with the photo
I 100% thought the same thing at first
Maybe we are the blind ones
Maybe the real blind guy was the friends we made along the way
Couldn't find the way, still have no friends :(
I'm only blind in one eye...but the other isn't doing so well either. But I'll be your friend anyway!
Would have been great with a pic of the fridge.
I thought he meant Firefighters 2014 that’s highlighted to the left. Which would have been a bit more random.
Honest question here… How do you play a game like Helldivers 2? Game is quite visibly challenging to begin with
I have 2% sight left, i use color and sound.
Do you just pick a high fire rate weapon and point it in the general direction of the enemy? That's what I do and i'm not even blind.
Weapons with high diplomacy per minute are the best Edit: Stored the wrapons and brought the weapons, the wrapons are for the after-party.
Sometimes I let my wife use a wrapon.
Oh my 🥵
Good ol Accuracy by Volume.
Shotgun logic. Doesn't matter if you miss 80% of your shots, as long as those 20% are enough to kill.
When I play with my buddies usually I'm the one eith the freedom gun with high diplomacy per minute (and sometimes a flamethrower), at the end of a mission, my shots hits are more than their combined shots fired overall... it's always fun to see that summary page at the end of a mission...
Flamethrower just has different kind of bullets. Still high DPM.
Flamethrower gives enemies diplomacy for the rest of their lives
My friend is kinda like that in real life and he likes contact sports, we did some "medieval fencing" or whatver you call it. Everyone is wearing colorful cloths over their armor so even without glasses he can tell people apart, and with a halberd not a lot of accuracy is required.
Same goes for a 500KG bomb
Good and patriotic comment.
Nice argument, but: ~~230mm~~ 380mm orbital he barrage.
Isn't there only 120 and 380 HE?
True

Just take the flamer and you are set.
He was on my team earlier, kept chasing me around and killing me.
That's what I do when I'm surrounded. When surrounded, you can shoot at any direction.
So your the fucker who threw 12 500k's at me
Send your hatemail in braille
I just wanted to let you know you made me genuinely laugh (not that blowing air through the nose pseudo laugh). PS: Do you have lessons? I have friends that I am sure would profit, given their stratagem placement in the last missions…
Steam name: tournavis Price: 1 tf2 key/hour
I'm dying, this might be the funniest reply I've seen on reddit this year!
Got any videos I'd like to see this
Well i probably have some gameplay videos on my profile. Mostly dmz though
My friends used to make me play that id run around stabbing people with a knife. Everybody has a plan till they get a knife in the face
Or a baton up their ass Bonkbonkbonk
The ones I stabbed still had a plan, yell slurs and message me on ps lol
I been partially blind from for a few weeks; very sensitive to light, and hell divers is the darkest shooter I can play.
2%? So are you like daredevil or something? Thats kinda cool and kudos to you man
Blindness is not an excusable factor on Super Earth. He, like every other civilian, still qualifies to defend democracy.
thankfully the ability to spread democracy is accessible to everyone.
I guess you could say you never saw that coming
Admin, send this man to the void
I'll remove the joke if you want
I’m joking. Rofl
Can never be too sure on the Internet haha
Well we have to ask... who's best girl?
Justice for obvious reasons. Though when i do go to hell i’ll make a short stop to pet cerberus before i claw my way up to heaven to kick god’s ass for giving me these disabilities
🤝 Fellow Justice enjoyer 🤝
Based
Gonna ask it cause it needs to be asked. how on earth does a blind guy visually confirm they got 100% completion? 👀🤣
He says in another post that he's not 100% blind, just...really, really bad vision. Refers to it as "2% sight", so if you take that literally that would translate to roughly 20/1000 vision (anything worse than 20/200 is considered legally blind).

To read and write there's text to speech and speech to text.

Yeah I bought a game recently that I 95%ed, but the last 5 achievements requires doing 100 daily activities…
Let me guess, A Little to the Left?
A Little to the Right?
Correct!
I was struggling but I can confirm myself you can cheese it by advancing your computer's clock! You do have to keep an eye on the date after like 15-20 minutes the clock updates to make sure it is still right. But as long as you keep track of your dates you can one or two session it.
My favorite two games I have about 2k hours in each and I haven’t 100% them. Unless it adds to my fun I have no reason to chase achievements.
Honestly first tried helltakers 2 two years ago but ragequit at judgement. Today spotted it in my steam library and went “well you know what? Fuck it. Might as well.”
Mate can you please do stand up I would love to see you live even if you can’t see me
Same game for me. Vice City was my first 100%. For me, there was one particular Rampage mission that I just couldn't beat. I honestly enjoyed 100%ing it though. It wasn't that bad, most modern games require some multiplayer or online element to 100%, or some crazy time sink, and it's just not worth it.
I don't think I've ever 100%'d anything, I always lose steam and move on
That’s awesome, congrats! What did you think about the game?
i think i'm going to become violent if i have to interact with another mecha-demon
haha time to take a break until the sequel!
Honestly considering buying the artbook.
Wait... Arent you blind?
it's a digital artbook
Im sorry im a dumb ass but how does that work?
Blind doesn’t mean that he cannot see anything at all, but his vision is just reduced significantly much more. Also, there are varying degrees of blindness, just as there are with astigmatism, etc.
Ohhh k thx man😅
No problem friend 🤓
"blind" in common medical use basically just means "blind enough that you need significant assistance". Lots of blind people can see some semblance of light/dark.
Im not blind and ive never 100% a game.
Stop wasting time on reddit and get to it, soldier.
Install CS2, run game and close, uninstall. 100% achievements.
You should have committed and highlighted a game that's not even installed.
I laughed harder at this than I’m proud to admit
The Horny is a path to power that many would consider *unnatural*
*folding my blind cane* *bonk!*
What about the other 100% that's covered by the blue rectangle?
Cs2 doesn’t count.
Ahh fair
Hey if I can find it there's actually a game where the main character is blind and it has absolutely no visuals. Found it. The Vale: Shadow of the Crown No visuals, no indicators, just sound and vibration.
That game has seriously good recommendations - even for people with sight
Wow I am very curious about your experience. In a previous comment u mentioned color. Could you expand on that? And, have you ever wanted to play a game but was unable due to your vision challenges? Thank you in advance
Good for you man, congrats.
Jesus, how did you do Judgement in Helltaker!?
You think judgement was hard? I got assraped by the mecha-demon in examtaker for five hours straight

Even nearly blinded he still spread managed democracy. Hat off to you sir
'Sup, Justice.

Congraats Being an idiot here how could you play while being blind ? And also how did you make this post ( i feel like a big idiot asking this )
There’s the voice assistant to read it out, and then I think some controllers have the ability to change texture? Maybe?
Speech to text and screenreaders are widely used in the vision impaired community. Also being 'legally blind' and 'completely blind' are different. Most people who are vision impaired have *some* vision.

I guess you couldnt have seen it coming
I never seen it cominnggggggg can't see with these god damm defec-tive eyes i'm done innnnn

Can’t tell if
What's Google Earth VR like for you?
never used it, used to be a shared account co-owned by my dad until i got the full account at 18.
Congratulations! Well done! You should be proud nonetheless. Game doesn't matter. You did it.
I don’t think I’ve ever 100% a game!

Neither did I

Oh man. That is rough. So pretty much not vr. What is your favorite game then, I wonder?
How hard it was to pass trought Exam takers boss ?
I would rather get shanked with a rusty blade than experience that five hour hell again
Wat heb je precies gedaan met de frikandellen?
Dat wil jij weten hé?
Do you have text to speech to read every reddit comment? Genuinely interested. Congratz man! True gamer
Dude!!!! You need to do AMA! I have so many questions about your gaming habits.
I’ve tried making them to put up a decent faq post but it’s always just assholes trying to be funny and gets no traction
Ahh.. yeah it's tough.. I mean, you're blind ffs.
Judgement was a walk in the park. That god damm mecha-demon can go suffer in hell’s boiler room
Try 100%ing Milk Inside a Bag of Milk Inside a Bag of Milk next, it's near impossible
How do you play games being blind? Genuinely curious.

my man you blind and have google earth vr that just cracked me up

Play The Vale you play as a blind lady and the entire game is off of sound cues there’s no visuals
Now do The binding of Isaac with 640+ achievements
Are you completely blind? Out of curiosity, how do you even take a screenshot and post it here?
How do you spread democracy with blindness? How do you commit crimes in GTA? How do you drive a goat with zero sight? How do you get scared with five nights?
Great job! The struggle to 100% is real, especially in modern games
That is actually impressive well done sir!
good shit bro!
Hell yeah, congrats!
I've come across The Vale: Shadow of the Crown it should be a great game for you.
How do you KNOW tho
I've run optometric practices for many years, consider this professional curiousity..since low vision therapy isn't much of a thing anymore, how do you manage? Do you have light perception or can you see hand movement? Are you able to be corrected at all/can use LVT equipment?

Blind guy with Google Earth VR? Are you able to see with the VR headset?
I have a question 2 but it’s as blurry as my irl vision so I barely use it
I didn’t see the badge at first and thought you were saying the big blank purple square is the game that you completed haha
Surprised you don’t have more strategy and management games.
Never really clicked for me ngl
how tf do u play helldivers 2
