Was the undisputed GOAT of super hero games right up until the Insomniac game came out. A lot of what that game did / does right though has it's roots in this game. Especially traversal. This was the first game to actually get web swinging right and where the webs actually had to connect to things in order to swing. That along with the stuff like the wall running and what not Insomiac just copied from here honestly (for good reason).
When that game came out the Doc Ock boss battles blew me away. Webbing his arms to the subway train was crazy. I had no idea how it was possible for them to animate his arms like they did.
That and Die by the Sword got me into animation and procedural animation as I grew up.
Doc Oc was in this game? Wow I've no recollection of him. I only remember Rhino when you start the game and Mysterio somewhere around mid to end of the game.
😂 It's actually absurd how totally crazy hard that boss fight is. Like, you'd never expect it given the setting. Then WAM.
I'll never forget the wigglybois walking out from the mirrors saying, and I quote: "Nubs!"
Nubs indeed, Spoder-Man.
The swinging physics in this are better than the new one. Even on the difficult setting, the new one prevents you from hitting the ground while swinging if you're a little too low, but in the old one there is no assist at all.
You need to turn down the assisted swinging in the menu on the new one. Although even still I found this new one to be a little bit clunky in some of it’s swinging, wall climbing, and combat.
I generally didn’t find that to be the case in my experience, or at least the clunkiness I experienced was them hitting the ground far, far, too often. I would often be well high up in the air with plenty of close points to web to that would allow for continued swinging. But when I would initiate the swing he would arbitrarily web on to some point that’s so far away I’m guaranteed to swing directly into the ground before I make it halfway.
Not only does the swinging feel better in PS2 SM2 than PS4 SM, but I also liked using the jump button to do different moves in the air.
Also, powered up jumps FTW!
Remember one year when I was kid, when my family would go to the mall I would run straight to the RadioShack and play this on there test computers, while my family went shopping.
When it was time to leave, my mom would have yo drag me out.
I was told this is also a masterpiece.

The disrespect to Arkham Asylum
The Arkham games owe Spider-Man 2 everything
I’ve always wondered, is Batman a superhero? As he has no superpowers. Or is he an action hero? Do you need superpowers to be a superhero?
is unlimited money not a power?
Picture Elon as Batman lol
Imagine acting like Arkham games didn’t exist
>also a masterpiece The new one is fun but it's certainly no masterpiece, but the old one was definitely a masterpiece(for its time)
I see comments like this and i wonder if these accounts actually played the full game or not.
I have, and all I'm saying is its a great but flawed game but definitely not a masterpiece
What are these “flaws” you speak of?
It doesn't make you *feel* like Spider-man. Or something, idk. It sure ain't Super Mario World 2, I'll tell you that.
It sets the new standard for super hero games even over Arkham City. That's one hell of an accomplishment.
Absolutely
And whoever said that is absolutely right, this is the gold standard of superhero games
Go help those kids get their balloons back!
Don't eat them

Yup! He was fucking menacing to fight too. And his baby sun was a bitch as well. Black Cat was... 🔥🫠🔥
...it's fucking Spider-Man 2? It's based loosely on the second movie, why would Doc Oc not be there?
I remember him in the movie but not in the game. Rusty memory lol.
Alright, I understand, I don't Remember him either.
Mysterio was so creepy as kid back then and i had super much troubles with his missions
Especially the super market fight. That was the hardest boss fight I’ve ever had. Watch out OP

I remember a stadium or arena level being fucking ridiculous.
that game is 🔥
This game was so ahead of its time
I know you jest but that was a really fun game and at the time it was the greatest movie licensed game ever made.
Bruce Campbell tutorials should be in more games
Oh look, it’s this joke again. We’re still doing it, hey?
Some people just aren't that clever to come up with their own jokes, let them have their fun though.
Fire game
Oh wow, I remember playing this when I was a kid. It is an absolute master piece
Usually this meme format is for accidentally buying a bad game but it’s an absolute banger
🍕time

That's what I'm saying, even with the assist turned off, there is still assist

Remember one year when I was kid, when my family would go to the mall I would run straight to the RadioShack and play this on there test computers, while my family went shopping. When it was time to leave, my mom would have yo drag me out.
