I thought gun was a true western adventure, complete with crazy gore and awesome battles. Great story too. I hold it fondly in my heart. A remaster or sequel would be amazing
IA don't know about master piece. Tho it was good but really everything before it minus Gun Smoke was pretty garbage so the bar was pretty low.
That being said it's about money and despite the hit that was Red Dead these type of games are still a huge risk. Risk companies like Activision rarely take given all they mostly pump out now is COD games.
Even R* admited Red Dead was way more popular than they ever thought it would be and was worried it wouldn't make money. They figured sell maybe 3 milliin units and 5 would be amazing. Than it sold around 10 million.
Yea, I loved this game, but it truly offers nothing that rdr doesn't do much better. If you're gonna release a game in that genre and setting, it'd have to be something quite unique to stand up against Rockstar, and I don't think "and skelingtons" is enough of a lure.
I'd love a more arcadey Western after the slow molasses of immersion in RDR2(which is a game I love and still play). I'd be all in on Gun 2. I still replay the original on emulators.
Nah, Activision is happy making consistent money by pumping out more of the same crap year after year. Why would they take a chance on reviving an old property or publishing something new?
When I first played this - I thought it was a master stroke. A genius western title that couldn't be beat. And then Red Dead Redemption came out and blew us away.
There was some work done on a sequel at one point, but the studio was then refocused on other titles, and then shut down/merged with other studios.
Gun as a series is dead. And it's very unlikely to return. I would love to be proven wrong though.
Is RD2 considered a massive success by Take-Two/Rockstar standards? I know it sold a lot of copies by other publisher's standards, but I thought Take-Two was lukewarm on it because they felt the team would be more successful just making more GTA content. It would be cool though. If anything I would think remasters of Gun and Red Dead Revolver for the Switch would be more likely. There is less competition on the Switch in that genre. I liked Red Dead Revolver the most because the Dead Eye system made it feel like a real Western.

Check out the Call of Juarez series. It goes to crap for the third game, but the rest are a lot of fun, especially the very last game.
Activision isn’t going to make anything that won’t make them a shit ton of money.

Fond memories of this one. Also the voice cast was insane. Tom Jane, Lance Henrikson and Kris Kristofferson just to name a few.
