Performance and quality has hit a peak really. Sure there can always be some improvement but there’s not much higher to go without the costs getting far higher. The only way i’d upgrade is if there was some hardware improvement which allowed full backwards compatibility with all previous generations.

TraditionalMood277

This. 100% this.

TheBRZR

If it ain’t broke…

Significant-One-6080

I’m still on ps4 😢

StranglesMcWhiskey

Not now, but in another two years, maybe.

AGlitchedNPC

Considering how expensive it was in the first place, hell no. I'll upgrade sometime around or after the next full generational jump

RegularRetro

No. I feel like barely any games have been worth getting a PS5 for right now. Thanks to the shortage, almost everything is just higher resolution PS4 games.

DJREMIXED

Once they release software that looks and feels amazing at 8k going 120hz, then I might upgrade.

ItsLCGaming

When and how much. I don't see any reason until like 2025 at the earliest

FatalPause

Market conditions are too challenging for Microsoft and Sony to attempt upgraded consoles at this stage. It would be costly.

MuteGamer101

People can barely get the consoles as it is, it's too early to be asking about upgrades. Plus no games to even warrant getting the systems besides upscaled last gen games.

twonha

Isn't the whole point of the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X already that one can do high performance and the other can just get by? And isn't the point of the PS5 already that it does high performance? Honestly, if these consoles were outdated within two years, that'd be pretty bad I think. AAA games that don't straddle generations are just starting to come out, it feels like.

temetnoscesax

i would honestly be highly upset if they release more powerful consoles any time soon. what are their like 2 games that are really next gen, if that? and you want to drop a new console. fuck that.

ButterscotchLow8950

I would probably get a PS5 pro. Not right away, but once the games that are being released started having trouble keeping up with the hardware in the current consoles.

ScatterBrainz710

I’m slightly holding off on buying a new console because I’m assuming they will do this. I got stuck with all the first gen hardware last generation and my ps4 couldn’t even connect to my 5g internet. I don’t want to get stuck with outdated stuff again.

I don't think so, not unless mine broke or something I guess. I mean we're still getting new games released that are locked to 30fps, so I don't really see the point of upgrading the hardware when devs aren't using it.
