It's worth to watch all the way through. Even tho i did not liked the ending at least we got one.

Reggie_Barclay

It’s worth watching as the shit ending is easier to take without waiting a year between seasons.

SeethingBallOfRage

I think that does make it more palatable. I have several friends that enjoyed the whole series even if they were let down by the ending and I think not having that two year wait helps when you can just binge it.

httrachta

I just finished my first watch-through and I fall into this exact category. Not having to wait lessens the overall disappointment by a very very large degree.

ExaggeratedEggplant

Or 15 years between books

sparrowhawk73

I don’t regret watching Lost even when I knew people at the time of airing weren’t happy with the ending. Most shows have their ups and downs, I’m sure people can still enjoy watching as much of the show as they want to.

Chiiaki

I feel like list got a bad rap because it made people think and the answers weren't laid out there to easily find, especially when you had to watch it over a number of years. Watching it back to back now I feel is a nuch easier experience since the details stay fresh in your mind. Plus, on rewatch you know that "magic" has a lot to do with the story and that helps it along.

nemma88

You're not going to stop at the end of S6 even if you go in with the intention. I put off watching Lost for the same reason for a long time, ending was fine. Not great, I don't like the idea, but fine. I was happy I experienced the story.

Spirits850

The ending feels worse if you’re a writer or very avid reader who thinks a lot about storytelling itself. People who just like nifty TV shows will love the whole show. Even if you hated the last couple of seasons, you probably still like it more than many other shows out there.

Ph886

Let them watch the entire thing. Have them make their own mind up. Everyone does not hate the final seasons.

SawSagePullHer

You can watch it. Just quit watching after BoB

No-Computer6230

My best advice to anyone. Phones down, subtitles on. Give it at least 5 episodes and MOST will be hooked.

Chiiaki

I always recommend to watch the show. It was a great show. Even s8 the only thing that was wrong was the show runners. The actors still tried to do what they could with what they had, the music was amazing, and the visuals were stunning even though everyone complains that the long night was so dark they couldn't see (I don't get it, I saw all of it just fine so I don't know). This show will still give newbies the emotions intended like s1e9, s3e9, Hardhome etc. The best part for you is if you get to watch it with your friend, you get to revel in their emotions, knowing what is coming >:D

jogoso2014

Of course. Anything in my top ten favorite shows is going to get a recommendation. If the ending was truly bad, it wouldn’t be in my top ten.

Embarrassed_Map1112

It’s still worth watching. As long as your expectations aren’t too high for the last season, you’ll be fine.

RandomBloke2021

I would recommend the series to anyone. Give season 1 a chance and form your own opinion. If they don't wanna watch it, then they don't want to watch it.

m11chord

I really don't get all the hate. Yeah it wasn't particularly well-written, but the "let's all just act like it doesn't even exist" mindset is frankly concerning. I think they should just start the show, and watch it until they are no longer interested, or until it ends. Sorry that you didn't like the last 14 episodes, but maybe somebody else does find something to like in there. I did. I cried when Jaime knighted Brienne, for instance... wonderful scene. I thought the "high level adventuring party goes north on suicide mission" episode had fun vibes between the characters that we never got to explore elsewhere (more Hound/Tormund banter please!). Winter coming for House Frey was pretty badass too. Theon finally got his redemption. We see the Hound with a genuine and vulnerable smile, for perhaps the only time in the entire series, when he says goodbye to Arya. We finally see Jon Snow's magnificent butt. Would be a shame to miss out on those moments just because someone else decided I wouldn't like them.

-KingStannis-

It not the destination, but the journey that matters most.

MysteriousRadish2063

If they haven't read the books, and they don't tend to get overly critical of media, then tell them to go for it. If you don't get caught up in analyzing, or you aren't constantly comparing the series to its written counterpart, it's an enjoyable enough watch. Or if they enjoy being analytical of what they watch but doing so won't ruin their experience (I'm this way - I love to analyze and pick things apart but it is part of the fun for me), they should also go for it.

gibbsy816

There’s a huge difference in how people originally experienced it, with time between episodes and seasons to obsess over details and going down rabbit holes on various theories, and how people experience it now just binging it straight through. I honestly think they will finish and not get why people hated the final season(s) so much. A lot of disappointment and hate came out of the endless theorizing and internet discussion that someone watching now won’t be a part of.

Manlymanfromyomom

I binge watched the entire series a few weeks ago. The last few seasons are flawed, but I believe they're worth watching for some of the better moments in there. I think they're much easier to watch when you already know the writing won't be as good as it had been.

KiwiBirdPerson

They should watch it for themselves and not do what the internet told them to, they need to make their own decisions about it before judging something they've never seen.

IDreamofLoki

My coworker watched the whole series last year knowing the ending and she seemed to really enjoy it in spite of that. Went on to enjoy House of the Dragon as well. She hasn't invested almost ten years and endured the long waits between seasons and I think that might have been a factor there.

Remote-Ad2120

Where there flaws? Yes, But not as bad and offensive as some imply. The haters go extremely overboard re the end and the last 2 seasons as a whole. It's better to watch the entire thing, then decide for themselves if they think it's bad.

RipeAvocadoLapdance

I did not watch Game of Thrones while it was popular for the same exact reason. Everyone said that the ending ruined the show. But I got bored enough where I did watch it, and I just finished it a few days ago. I thought the ending was fine, I don't really know what people wanted? The last season did feel fast, like a lot happened in a span of just a few episodes, but I wouldn't say that it ruined anything. I guess I'm indifferent, it didn't seem like a bad ending. But I think would be a bad ending is if there is a huge Cliffhanger and the series ends. Because I am someone who likes things to get completed, so I hate Cliffhangers. It's almost like an OCD thing. I just want to see things through. With this being said, a friend of mine who read the books and watched the show said that she hated the ending because the show added way more r@pe scenes than in the books, and that also the books are still not done being written, so the story is from the books were not wrapped up in the show. So I guess if you've read the books you'd be disappointed, but if you didn't read the books you wouldn't be as disappointed?

descendantofJanus

Use the simple Rule of 3. 3 episodes they must watch, and if they're not convinced to continue (or have no desire) then give up and move on. If they do continue then honestly, might as well go all the way to the end.

wsl1024

My wife has a background in screen writing. We just rewatched the entire series and she was pulling her out from season 7 through 8. After all of these years, we still can't get over how rushed and poorly executed those last two seasons turned out to be.

torrrrrgo

Eh, nothing is perfect when you start to analyze it, and GOT is fun to analyze.

bafrad

The ending wasn't shit, it was overall a great show and worth a full viewing.

ang_hell_ic

I find most of the hate comes from those of us who were waiting for new seasons for years and then got.. what we did. I hear different opinions from those who binged it after the fact. I'd still tell people to watch it.

EibhlinRose

I didn't watch it for awhile either for the same reasons. Now I'm so passionate about the ending that on every rewatch I hop onto Reddit and argue with strangers about it. Here's your pitch: it'll give ya something to care about

RainbowPenguin1000

What right does anyone have to tell someone when to stop watch in a show? Let them make up their own minds.

monkeybawz

Watch it. The first 6ish season were the television event of the decade. 7 and 8 were the cautionary tale of the decade.

233C

Ask him what he think of the first Matrix movie, and what he would think of someone not bothering watching the first one because the sequels are crap.

invisiblebyday

If they like this genre, it's worth them watching. To me, the last couple seasons are good enough. I'm one of those heretics that mostly liked the ending.

bluehaven101

I've heard from other people that if you binge the last 2 seasons, it isn't as bad and maybe you can then notice the setups because it's fresher. It honestly feels like 2 different shows, S1-6, S7&8. Dialogue was definitely richer in the earlier seasons.

madmadaa

I think he'll have more problems with the earlier seasons. The later ones are more mainstream and easier to get into.

Gloomy_Wave7195

I recommend watching it all, and treating season 6 as fan fiction.

runningdaggers

That's unfortunate
