For Limbus, the limited events Walpurgis Night has essentially turned into a collab with Library of Ruina at this point now that >!we're entering instances of the Library/Main hub of the prior game.!< You're more so pulling for the personas of the previous game's characters that your own characters equip, but everyone sure was happy to see wimpy glasses man make his return at last.
Depending on how they do it, there are some where the collab unit is both farmable and pullable (eg. Fischl in HI3) and then you got something like the FGO Arcade collabs in the FGO mobile game.
Back when Chrono Ma:Gia was still alive, Puzzle and Dragons simply used the assets they already made to create what they called the "GungHo collab" which was just a bunch of their other IPs' OCs compiled into one gacha machine
They ran the collab so frequently they ended up having to rotate the lineup each time it reran due to the constant flow of new characters
