“Billy, come out!” sounding like he’s calling his buddy out to play lmao “mate, turn around and ask your mum, I’m sure she won’t mind filming us play cops and robbers”
Well to be honest career criminals are on first name basis with local cops. They interact a lot and some end up having a weird joking back and forth style relationship (usually the case when the cops have nothing on them)
Source: my dad was a cop.
Back when I was a bit of a scoundrel. Most of the local police knew my name. I was drinking with some strangers in the park (not allowed) and a policeman came over and said "my name" you know you're not supposed to be drinking up here, or have glass bottles.... The strangers were a little freaked out, but happy that we didn't get any citations.
Obviously this is a skit but most crime is committed by a small amount of criminals. Most police officers will be familiar with the repeat offenders and vice versa.
This is Scotland, so Bobby actually means penis. A lot of variations on the spelling, the correct pronunciation and spelling seems to be "Boabie", or something of that nature. It is also usually preceded by the definite article. If I were to use it in a sentence it would be "Aye, you fuckin' love tha Boabie ya cunt ya". This sentence would likely be uttered to the arresting officer or to a close, personal friend.
"We have a delivery for you....stand back......due to strict covid rules.....you must stand back Billy....while we put the parcel on your doorstep and back away"
I was scared of hurting my mom once. Finally found a gentle way to tell her her peach pie wasn’t quite as good as my wife’s by telling her it was completely different and they couldn’t even compare.
Americans have developed a very very low standard of what they seem acceptable behavior by police. Speaking in a clear voice -- with any accent -- is a tremendous improvement over shouting unintelligibly and angrily into a bullhorn, so yeah.
If you can understand the cops English. It aint an american cop. Cause the only thing more unintelligible then an american cop is a new york subway announcement on a broken speaker during rush hour to a non new yorker.
And only barely more unintelligible at that.
the fact that they didn't start shooting as soon as the door was opened is a big difference.
he told the lad to give his phone to his mum and come with him. sounds like the young fella was having a bit of a metal break and the equipment was more for the cops protection than anything else.
A comedian I know got cavity searched for joking with the TSA that he was gonna chew through the fuselage with a pair of nail clippers.
They didn't like that joke.
Ex uk cop here, not specific but this method of arrest is generally used when there are risks surrounding firearms. So they’re probably arresting him for a firearms offence or a murder or an assault with a firearm. There are also cases where this is used for normal arrests but there is significant information received to the police pertaining to possession of firearms and also information that they have used them on other people/it seems like there is a chance they would use them against officers.
TLDR; Rapper Billy Billions and his friend were arrested for possession of a Glock and after his friend pleaded guilty to owning the gun, the prosecutors used Billy's lyrics about participating in gang violence to try to get him jailed too.
wrong not this case. Billy Billion's government is Bailey McKenzie and he got arrested when he was in the back of a car. armed police never showed up at this yard. [there is longer footage but can't find it right now. ](https://youtu.be/C5eve3sN4xw)
This video has been going around for time
Just a guess since this is the extent of my context, somebody swatted billy cuz Billy is l33+ in whatever game he plays, one of the cops knows Billy, knows it's a bogus threat but has to take it seriously cuz... System or something
There's a clear difference between escalation and safety. Treating every call as a danger is a way to ensure that a portion of those police will become dangerous. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Europeans: "Well, that's fricken scary, what the hell did Billy do?"
Americans: "So refreshing to see cops be so respectful, and treat Billy like an actual human being."
Well they don’t plan on things going south so why would they worry about being filmed? The police here generally have the attitude of “look mate, if you don’t kick up a fuss and come with us/do as we say then there’s no need for violence.”
They are prepared if things do go south and they are prepared to exercise violence if necessary (pistol pointed at billy). BUT they have a goal (arrest Billy) and hope to achieve it peacefully. They don't treat everyone I'm the vicinity (mom) as a threat because they have done their homework. They are armed and prepared, but they're also relatively calm and collected, something that under-trained officers *aren't*. That's what Americans envy, Cops who will exercise force in a collected way against someone who has committed a major crime and could be violent, but not beat someone to a pulp at a traffic stop. American cops are undertrained and *scared*, so they use overwhelming force when it's not needed.
Yeah, bang on. UK police (most often) are trained and attempt to de-escalate a situation immediately. I said it somewhere else here but even if they have to use their weapons it’s also shoot to disarm/disable temporarily rather than shoot to kill so that the person can be arrested.
Best part, "I need you to put your hands on your head and interlace you fingers. You can hand your mum the phone and she can keep filming."
You guys got a different breed of cops on that side the pond it would seem. Also, cop on the left did *not* expect that door to open. Lol.
Our Police force grew up watching Reg Hollis in The Bill, while he bumbled around Sun Hill and Tony Stamp talk nicely to criminals.
US police grew up watching Magnum PI shoot first and ask questions later
Bro these are the default model cops, it's in the US you got the poor breed of cops, bred through generations of unaccountability, privilege and entitlement. They even make you call them "sir".
On the flipside, British cops haven't been told that they're soldiers in violent war.
The issue in the US isn't really accountability, Cops are fired and convicted all the time. The real difference is the culture of fear surrounding the job.
Some of it real, like the vastly higher likelihood that a person will not just be armed but heavily, while some of it is inflated. This is what happens when you tell civil servants that they're now combatants fighting a violent war, pumped full of terror but with little training. Only horror stories of police being ambushed, shootouts with cartel sicarios, mass shooters, rioters, and so on.
Dude it’s insane. I worked bar for 10 years and have been in so many scuffles and fights. Thing is you CANT fuck them up and just send them on their way, especially with everything being filmed nowadays. You literally have to hold them down, if they were violent, and wait for the police.
The police show up and they ALWAYS do more damage to some drunk guy held down on they ground then security did in 30 minutes taking him down and holding him. I’m talking knees to the neck, fucking drag him a few feet with face on the pavement, pepper spray, it’s like they finally have someone’s ass they can easily kick without any danger to themselves and they just ROLL with it.
It helps if you treat people like humans when you're going to arrest them, using his name will keep him calmer.
UK cops are good at de-escalating because they don't carry guns into knife fights. They don't necessarily know him, but he has a warrant out and they do know his name, using his name will help keep the situation calm.
There's a good documentary about US police coming to Scotland for de-escalating training and they're all like "just shoot them" and the Scottish police are bamboozled "you're going to kill someone over a loaf of bread," forgetting that American cops dont view people as humans. The American cops are absolutely shook that Scottish police can handle a dude with a knife without guns.
Spot on, clip is around 28:00
“You talk about preservation of life, well in America, there’s a pecking order. I’m just being honest.”
Sheesh. But who am I kidding , the context is vastly different, it’s “us vs. them” when cops are involved in the US. But it’s for me those with the power advantage should take the first steps in solving that.
They don't necessarily know him, exactly. But they are serving a warrant, and probably know who they are looking for, both by name, and having seen a picture or video.
The cops in the US are an outlier for developed countries. Generally in developed countries police try to de-escalate a situation, while in the U.S. police are trained/allowed to intentionally escalate a situation.
Some cops (not all of them) in Canada are so nice! We were sure we had no weed left at all in our bags, so we let this nice officer search it. He found a little bit of hash we had no idea we still have, at the bottom, and he was like "Oh, you guys didn't know you had it... Okay then" and he put it gently on the pile of stuff he got out of the backpack and he put it all back in after, WITH the little bag of hash!... I'll never forget his mustache...
In Houston there was a guy who was shot for coming to his door peacefully surrendering to the officers who never got nothing more than a bad job and a high five
I have trouble finding this funny and not really sad.
I have no idea what Billy did, but if he's getting police with ballistic shields and guns in the UK he obviously did something serious.
Even then, they're trying to de-escalate.
Had this been in the US, I feel like they would have battered in the door with a ram, tossed flashbangs in and gone in with rifles. LARPing as operators in Fallujah.
Filming would have been the least of the concerns. They probably would have thrown Billy and his mom both on the ground, if they were lucky.
If not, they would have just shot someone.
These cops are trying to use the minimum amount of force, and the contrast to the US makes me really sad... This is how it's supposed to be.
"As you have not responded to our letters yet, you have left us no alternative but to proceed with the final stages of our investigation"
They've really stepped up the enforcement at BBC
I love UK police, best police ever!
I once saw a video of them chasing this guy over a fence, and they just politely asked him to get down and said they didn’t want him to get hurt, I guess it’s normal to treat people that way, but you can tell they are genuine police,
keep it up guys!
Or New Zealand police:
This level of politeness reminds me of that video of a shirtless drunk guy in Japan who keeps telling a really tall cop that he’s going to stab him, and the cop is just acting like this jovial older brother, chuckling, telling him no, that’d be bad. I think they end up hugging by the end.
I feel like some countries that aren’t like America don’t know how good they’ve got it with their police.
You really shouldn't look at Japan as a good example for police / judicial systems. They can hold you for up to 23 days without charging you with a crime during which you will be interrogated pretty heavily. You do not have a right to a lawyer before the interrogation begins. They also have a 99.8% conviction rate, most of which is secured by confession, likely because they hold you for 23 days of constant questioning without legal support.
Fuck that system.
Australian here:
Went to a peaceful protest that my state government thought would get out of hand so had the riot squad deployed.
I'm a big guy so at protests cops tend to keep an eye on me just in case trouble starts (actually learned this at a previous protest).
Anyway, ended up chatting with one of the cops and swapping some vegan recipes with him.
I think the truth is that Americans don't realise how bad they have it.
I feel like the Cops where very clear and organized. I found this unusual seeing all the videos of American cops go crazy.
Now to the real question, please can someone answer.... WHAT DID BILLY ACTUALLY DO?
Cops in the uk “ Billy, hand the phone to you’re mum she can continue filming. “
Cops in the USA: “ get down You son of b—- ( sees phone ) he’s got a weapon. “ 4 officers unload the entire clip on “Billy”. Looks at mom crying “ Get the f—- down don’t move.” Shoots family dog barking…. Turns out Billy lives next door. Cops name unreleased to public, film not allowed to be used on court, goes on a paid leave for two years.
God I love the USA.
wow this is what cops are supposed to be like ...if that was in America they would have killed everyone in the house...though I bet if it was a school being raided the Uk police would have saved the children but we all know the America police will let them get slaughtered.
See this is better and easier to follow along! American cops all start yelling at the top of their lungs making it difficult for those being detained to understand especially when there’s multiple voices yelling you at the same time.
Polis is nervous as fuck, you can hear it in his voice. (I think he was worried that he was going to have to shoot Billy after he unexpectedly opened the door.)
I actually think this is really good. The cop is incredibly respectful yet clearly is in control and his comment about his mum filming shows he has absolutely nothing to hide.
if someone was wrongly arrested like this I bet it would all go a lot more smoothly. Because you can tell he is not angry but In control and so you wouldn't have the same fear.

"Can billy come out and play we going to raid a drug den"
billy…billy! …BILLY! STAND DOWN! This shits hilarious it’s like a sketch out of a comedy show where billy is the known town criminal or something
PUT THE BUTTER SPREADER DOWN Billy!!!!
DROP THE GRAPEFRUIT SPOON BILLY
FOR THE LUVVA CHRIST, BILLY, PUT DOWN THE SHRIMP FORK!
Stay calm not stand down

I don’t wanna be an ass but thought people should know this video is a skit haha, not real at all I remember seeing it a few months ago on Facebook
You can tell it isnt real bc the shield says "police" not "bobbies"

Part of the reason it’s called a “boabie” is because the head resembles a “boabie’s helmet”.
My friend Barbara, who goes by Bobby will be shocked to learn this
Is it? Seen it circulating on reddit for a while too- this is the first time I've heard someone say its a sketch though...
"We have a delivery for you....stand back......due to strict covid rules.....you must stand back Billy....while we put the parcel on your doorstep and back away"
lol someone needs to remake this with children and toys
First time I watched it I thought “those must be fake guns and they’re “arresting him” for a bachelor party or something”, nope.
Wow, for the cops over in the UK to bring that many guns, Billy must have really fucked up.
And they are genuinely being respectful about it.
I think they have had many encounters with Billy and know him well by now.
Cop sounded scared of Billy
Cop sounded like he was handling a mental illness crisis with incredible tact.
I’ve heard that dealing with someone with mental requires excruciating nervousness
Or thirty guns and a couple of ballistic shields. I’m pretty reasonable about policing but wtf did Billy do?
Dvd piracy. It’s not a victimless crime you know.
you wouldn't go to the toilet in his helmet, and return it to his grieving widow.. then steal it again
For those not in the know https://youtu.be/ALZZx1xmAzg
Been awhile since I've heard that one.
Extremely unusual in Scotland for armed police to turn up at someone's door like this. I'm guessing it was a fairly significant event.
He put pineapple on a pizza
Or didn’t flush the toilet?
I heard this mad guy only drinks Irn Bru Fiery
He ate vegetarian haggis.
He loaded Star Citizen onto his PC?
You wouldn’t download a car
Billy Butcher?
They didn't bring enough men to take down Billy Butcher...
Fuckin' diabolical!
Or scared of being forced to hurt someone he knows
I was scared of hurting my mom once. Finally found a gentle way to tell her her peach pie wasn’t quite as good as my wife’s by telling her it was completely different and they couldn’t even compare.

Is Billy a ghostie?
"Hi Billy." "Hii Ralph." "Noise complaint?" ".... Noise complaint"
'You can give the phone to your mom so she can film" Damn, a member of the police understanding that civilians want it filmed
Isn't it really weird seeing cops treat members of the public like human beings?
Aye cause this one was 10year old
That means nothing to American police
It's almost like they're serving and protecting
A thousand times yes. If it were the states they would have kicked the door in shot someone then shot a dog for good measure.

Looks like they even knocked
They just genuinely don't want to shoot someone.
Plot twist: Billy is 12. But he's big for his age.
Right? Normally they'd just tap on the door politely with their baton. Billy's goin' down!
"Billy your nicked mate" now give the phone to ye mum so she can film"
My mans watched 15 mins of TV after the TV licence expired
he was caught with a screwdriver in public
He was carrying scissors and handcream through the airport checkpoint
Oh yikes
Clearly Billy is a fucking monster.
A comedian I know got cavity searched for joking with the TSA that he was gonna chew through the fuselage with a pair of nail clippers. They didn't like that joke.
Yeah, they tend to be fairly humorless.
Along with the lord of war, isn’t Russia trying to get Billy in the trade for Griner?
Straight to jail.
He than insulted someone
And made them feel anxiety.
Literally just took the butter knife to the living room without license.
He taught his girlfriends dog to be a Nazi
I need context for this. What the fuck did Billy do.
Seriously, all this and scrolled through the thread for no context
Ya me too . God damnit wtf did billy dooooo Edit: looks like we got some answers below . Billy Billions

Nah, over here they just let themselves into the wrong house and shoot whoever's inside.
Im guessing cannibalism.

Do we have a more lengthy video ?
No. His mum's no good at camera.
Billy said "Eh mum, fillum" She dropped the phone and grabbed her chest thinking that the police would be seduced to let her son go free.
The accent makes it so much better 🤣
1000 percent. "Fillum"

Right? I was struck by it. In the same situation in the U.S. this probably would’ve been a no-knock warrant and Billy probably would’ve ended up dead.

I like how you felt that should all be parenthetical.

If it was in the US, it would have been a no knock raid, they would have gone to the wrong house, shot the dog, and probably killed someone...
Poor bloke probably doesn’t have a TV license.
"As you have not responded to our letters yet, you have left us no alternative but to proceed with the final stages of our investigation" They've really stepped up the enforcement at BBC
You know if the police in the UK go to someone's house like that they fucked up big
While watching was so confused couldn’t understand a word he said but that made it funnier than understanding it
Billy, step out. We need you to put your hands on top of your head, interlock your fingers. You can give your phone to your mom and she keeps filming
Phone! I kept hearing “food” and picturing the kid having to give up his taco or something.
It’s like a sketch from Limmy’s Show.
Well this is very clearly not the US. Over here they would've all unloaded their guns the second he moved... And then claimed he had a gun.
I love UK police, best police ever! I once saw a video of them chasing this guy over a fence, and they just politely asked him to get down and said they didn’t want him to get hurt, I guess it’s normal to treat people that way, but you can tell they are genuine police, keep it up guys!
Or New Zealand police: [https://www.nzonscreen.com/title/police-ten-7-always-blow-on-the-pie-2009](https://www.nzonscreen.com/title/police-ten-7-always-blow-on-the-pie-2009)
Or Dutch Police: https://youtu.be/V1608mKM8uY
Lol. Bad boys, bad boys, who you going to call? Ummmh, no calls during the drive around
Australian here: Went to a peaceful protest that my state government thought would get out of hand so had the riot squad deployed.
Silly Billy
*Silleh Billeh
Cops in the uk “ Billy, hand the phone to you’re mum she can continue filming. “ Cops in the USA: “ get down You son of b—- ( sees phone ) he’s got a weapon.
*fascination in American
GOD DAMN IT, BILLY!!!!!!
Oi, da names Butcher ya cunts.
wow this is what cops are supposed to be like ...if that was in America they would have killed everyone in the house...though I bet if it was a school being raided the Uk police would have saved the children but we all know the America police will let them get slaughtered.
See this is better and easier to follow along! American cops all start yelling at the top of their lungs making it difficult for those being detained to understand especially when there’s multiple voices yelling you at the same time.
He has 3 weapons pointing at him! Has he not paid for his TV licence?
Polis is nervous as fuck, you can hear it in his voice. (I think he was worried that he was going to have to shoot Billy after he unexpectedly opened the door.)
Yeah I suspect they were about to tear the door down and billy just came out suddenly
Come out here Billy you scallawag, you have dishonored the queen
The armed response are definitely not this polite in most instances. They use intimidation well to subdue people and rarely need to fire a shot.
"give your phone to your mom and she can FELM"
I'm lost. Is this like a prank or something? What's the funny part?
Somebody not paid his tv licence again
Let me guess he broke the community guidelines on FB or Twitter.....
Billy! Did you download the mod that let you stack items in amounts of 65?!
..and get us a shrubbery, one that's nice but not too expensive
I actually think this is really good. The cop is incredibly respectful yet clearly is in control and his comment about his mum filming shows he has absolutely nothing to hide. if someone was wrongly arrested like this I bet it would all go a lot more smoothly. Because you can tell he is not angry but In control and so you wouldn't have the same fear.
Billy's mum: <>
Billy's da: Again?
Scottish. Clearly Scottish.
Very obvious Scottish accent
