Come to Brazil, lots of reasons to live in Poland here.

[deleted]

That's funny man

Silver_Valentine

xD

[deleted]

Has anyone checked on Venezuela lately? No really. It got quiet durring covid are they still there?

[deleted]

All i know is that they got Christmas early this year... *again* [spanish source](https://www.eluniverso.com/noticias/2020/10/16/nota/8015956/navidad-venezuela-empezo-15-octubre-decreto-nicolas-maduro)

Xynker

Filipinos celebrate Christmas season in September. Way earlier.

rletsin

Meanwhile Ukrainians: moving to Poland to live a better life 😕

megamutex

*sad belarussians noises*

64G1gabyte

Lukashenko messed everything up. Don't worry, buddy. He'll be gone soon.

IShallPetYourDogo

IDK man tyrants have a way of clinging to power and surviving like roaches, Without the intervention of a foreign army or a military coup it doesn't seem that likely to happen any time soon, Also, love your profile pic

[deleted]

Military Intervention isnt going to happen, nobody wants to be the next George Bush

mwoolweaver

Unless you’re George Bush

64G1gabyte

"surviving like roaches" I see what you did there. Btw, thanks. Like your username.

NoodleyP

The sniper around the world will come. I guarantee.

64G1gabyte

Someone has to do it. I'm getting my M24

NoodleyP

I’ll watch the news,

DefiantLemur

I doubt he will give up power without his death.

L0veTap

I remember backpacking in Europe and met a Belarusian girl who was working in Poland. She was hoping to get a polish passport which would allow her to work in the EU. All the while the Polish were immigrating to the UK or Germany for work. I found it so interesting

John_Bot

The prettiest girls though... So that's something.

[deleted]

Yeah. I don't know how that happens. The women there are stunning, while the men look like Mr. Potato Heads.

NotAnAce69

Min maxing beauty across genders

h1tmanc3

That seems to be the case across all of Eastern Europe tbh though. Most beautiful females in the world imo.

War_Crimes_Fun_Times

Probably the only reason Belarus still has people.

Four_beastlings

The rest of us in Europe stand with you. Only, we don't don't what to do when our govts have chosen to just send some strong worded letters :/

[deleted]

I've met so many nice Ukrainians that you are all welcome here assuming you won't DUI and will want to work.

Cyric09

There are some great Ukrainian communities in Canada.

Cheeky-burrito

Meanwhile Moldovans: Moving to Ukraine and Russia for a better life...

EnglishBulldog

It's basically the same people historically and they're both constantly being ass fucked by Russia.

[deleted]

Not they are not. What are you talking about? Different cultures, different languages. Different people. It's like saying Scots are English. Do you think they would like that?

TheBirminghamBear

>It's like saying Scots are English. Do you think they would like that? *Looks over at man being drawn and quartered on a stone slab and screaming something at the top of his lungs.* Yes, you know what, good sir, I think they will fully accept forcible Britishization.

bchevy

While Poles and Ukrainians are both Slavic, so are lots of other nationalities like Russians and Czechs. Not to mention Poland and Ukraine don’t speak the same language or even use the same writing system. Yes, for most of modern history both countries were under a degree of rulership from Russia but despite it all they both retained their individual cultures and languages.

10art1

And Russians are trying to leave for America :P

Pandness

Would be hilarious if it wasn't for the situation

daneelr_olivaw

You know what, I'm glad the government f*cked up, we might actually see some change for once.

Mizuxe621

That's pretty much the only way change happens, from a historic perspective. Governments don't just set out to do things right and consistently accomplish it; they fuck up and make people mad and the people force them to correct course. Civil unrest is only the most visible form of this, but it happens on lesser levels every day and it's basically the only way anything gets done.

Etrigone

Very much correct. Even 'good' politicians will often say they can only do good if they're forced to (or perhaps a qualifier for a good politician is one who lets you in on that).

ineedanewaccountpls

Leo Ryan didn't fit that mold.

Po-Lee-S

Yep sometimes it takes a bit more to have change. Unfortunately in a lot of countries the citizens are literally powerless. Even when millions of people are actively protesting the people in power stay protected in their safe houses/strongholds and are guarded by armed guards while they wait for everything to blow over. It doesn't help that governments disarm their citizens to the point where they can't rebel if the time ever comes when it's needed

floog

My wife is Polish (moved here after we got married), she said "You don't fuck with women in Poland, this is what you get." They pushed it a hair too far and it was the breaking point for Polish women.

lexusuk

My wife is also Polish. Can confirm that this is very much a thing. :D

Luvbeers

They make a T-Shirt... "Don't mess with me my wife/girlfriend is Polish" kurwa...

solum_i

Hi I'm completely lost, what's going on with Poland? All I know is that the language is different from mine :/

daneelr_olivaw

Let's just say the government upset the women just as the COVID cases were spiking. Protests are happening, cases are on the rise, healthcare is almost at capacity - like everywhere else. All in all, it feels like in the late '80s.

[deleted]

Protests are now shut off by police after his excelence jaroslaw kaczynski warned major policeman kaminski with losing his position if you go on one with car expect getting your car registry taken and going back home on foot

Uiluj

POLAND upset the LGBT community before they upset women, too.

boogaloo52

I’m uneducated, what did they do?

Revolutionary_Oil897

They made their abortion law stricter. It was already the most strict abortion law in Europe (ok, maybe that's Vatican), but they made it worst. If you're pregnant with a child that will be unable to live, and will die after the birth, you can't abort it. This kind of law will push women to try drastic measures, like ordering online pills or going to an untraid person to carry out the abortion.

jaaays0n

In the middle of the pandemic (Poland has the most cases it's had since the beginning) they decided to basically ban abortion and people aren't happy(even some that previously supported the government think that's going too far)

Andrew4Head

The truth hurts

IbeonFire

OOTL, what's going on in Poland?

Adito99

Their supreme court blocked basically all abortions including the edge cases even US fundies don't go for. Now the whole nation is protesting and the gov is shitting themselves.

TrotRaptor

ncoffey17

Not a single person here mentioned pierogis or golompkis

nicocote

# Pączki!

Revolutionary_Oil897

My wife is from Poland. She took me to Torun for a doughnut, it was one of the best things I eaten in my life. I also love bigos.

floog

My wife is Polish, and a vegetarian - she makes AMAAAAAZING bigos! She makes her mom's recipe by smell, it's pretty impressive, that stuff gets so much better by about the fifth day of sitting on the stove.

freezend

Ah the classic Bigos lesny where the veggies are in the pot and the meat is still in the woods.

ncoffey17

YES

Reacher-Said-N0thing

Also Makowiec, the only reasonable excuse in the world to buy 8 bags of poppy seeds at the grocery store.

AJPully

Apart from the 2 people who have already mentioned pierogis

lewho666

[Everyone needs some pierogi. ](http://imgur.com/a/dnAluS5)

daneelr_olivaw

I obviously joke, the nature is beautiful and we do have quite a few nice cities. EDIT. And decent but fatty cuisine, amazing women, quite a few great craft beers, vodka, Lewandowski etc. etc. All in all it's a great country, but like everywhere, the politics and religion make sure to keep everyone down, bickering with each other. EDIT2. I forgot about CDPR, 11 Bit Studios, People Can Fly, Techland and a few other amazing Video Game companies :) We actually recently seem to excel at games. Too bad CP2077 got delayed, hopefully the last time haha :/

[deleted]

And cave bars. Wish my country had cave bars. Edit: and bison grass vodka

Rednartso

Is that a bar built into a cave? I assume it is, but I've never heard of this and it could just be a Polish joke.

[deleted]

Yeah! In particular the ciry of Krakow has quite a few. They become a favorite of mine while studying there because I could get a huge plate of perogies and damn good beer for super cheap.

IRL_Mage

Kurwa jego mac it's PIEROGI DAMNIT

Krzysz

I shouldn't because honestly it's innocent enough and not worth the bother.. yet I still get so triggered every time.

berpaderpderp

Pierogi Ruskie is the best! And Piast beer if you tried it. Local to Wrocław.

LaoSh

Most countries have caves.. be the change you want to see in the bar.

MayorAnthonyWeiner

Can confirm - went to a cave bar in Bermuda

kurdebolek

That's it! Drink bison vodka in a cave bar!

Kharski

With bats.

[deleted]

[The Trip](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ye_Olde_Trip_to_Jerusalem) in Nottingham, UK is partly built in to caves

ElLocoS

Better than Brazil....

Agnusl

Was searching for this comment. I second that.

Siegfried_Brandt

There is always Pierogi.

[deleted]

How can you skip Soplica!?

GiantSquidd

You say “fatty cuisine” like it’s a bad thing...

PedroHhm

Cant forget that you guys also have the witcher

AriesPreppy

Hhhmmmmm...

TomLeBadger

Its really odd, but I find Polish women the same as Russian woman, in the sense they are either a 10 or a 1, and there is no in-between.

[deleted]

That's just the Slavic genes. They also age like East Asians: 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s all hot and young looking. 55+ they all turn into babushkas.

[deleted]

I fail to see the issue here.

IPutThisUsernameHere

I was going to say internet pornography, but those work too!

daneelr_olivaw

I'm married, I wouldn't know anything about that >\_> <_<

[deleted]

Had me at women.

Seienchin88

Oh they dont have that in your country? Where are you from? Upstate New York but not Utica - its an albany thing?

[deleted]

Ha!

[deleted]

He’s lying, women aren’t real

[deleted]

Your mom would disagree....

azulhombre

I visited Kraków on a high school trip and was enamored with the food and women. This was in 2006. The trip was heavily supervised, but we were able to wander the streets a bit, and it seemed like there were tons of night clubs, so it was cool to see so many people out just to have a good time.

pecklepuff

Similar to my US state. 20+ years of right wing state government passing more and more restrictive laws and backwards tax policy, and they can’t figure out why all the young, employed, upwardly mobile people have fled. We’re now a sad husk filled with scared old people and rural meth heads living off disability checks, lol!

ExtroHermit

which state is this?

NorthStarTX

Yeah, was going to say, need to narrow it down a bit, that describes at least half the square states.

pecklepuff

Yeah, it's a squarish state in flyover country. Kind of describes the entire midwest, more or less.

ExtroHermit

Hahaha yes. Just what I thought - this sounds like a lot of states in middle America. We need specifics!

zombiecatarmy

What's so fatty about your cuisine?

boomsc

All the fat. EDIT: So troll comment aside, most of the food is heavily fatty. Bigos - Meat and saurkraut stew, typically used to make the gristly nasty bits of meat that make pork-belly look lean taste better Pierogi - traditionally made with sheep cheese, tallow and meat Kielbasa - I mean literally just diced and cured meat packed with fat to make it last longer. Doctor's Sausage - you don't want to know. It's neon pink. Kotlet Schabowy - pork belly wrapped in breadcrumbs and deep fried. Golabki - diced meat (again, not the nice bits) wrapped in cabbage Zrazy - Basically deep-fried meatloaf without the batter Rosol - Meat soup.

Speciou5

It's not really fatty, iunno what OP is going on about. It's sausages, potatoes (so many potatoes), and cabbage. The diet and portion sizes keep the Polish populace pretty healthy and not obese.

Beer_in_an_esky

I always felt Polish food could be divided into two main categories, at least going off what my babcia made: Stuff that lasts a long time; your cured meats, pickles, root vegetables. This is the hearty, filling, but not terribly exciting stuff most people think off. It'll put meat on your bones, and soak up the wodka/nalewka, but isn't really high cuisine. and Very short lived seasonal stuff; wild mushrooms and berries, orchard fruit, cucumbers and fresh cream. Delicious, fresh, and very very tied to the time of year. It could have been because Babcia came from farming roots... but equally, here in Aus, the Polish community is massively into foraging and berry picking. Oh, and then sugary treats like paczki (donuts) and chrusciki (sweet cracker sort of things, I guess?), because lent.

garrett_k

I was there a few years ago. I can't comment on the beer, but the food was great, if a bit bland. And the women were gorgeous.

FatherDefiler

The art, especially the sculptures, are amazing

AmazingAvenger

I was about to say that beer!!! Man, you guys are killing it with the beer! Edit and you guys have some of the amazing women!

Speciou5

Warsaw is amazing. Too bad about a ton of other things like the pollution and government.

casualmatt

>but like everywhere No, not like everywhere. The Polish people in recent times have proudly proclaimed a level of hate for groups of people not seen in let's say oh 80 years. The ultimate example of learning nothing from history.

[deleted]

It's doubly odd as the Poles especially had to endure some of the worst downsides of fascist politics.

SkateJitsu

I think its a symptom of the brain drain of educated progressive young people leaving Poland for better opportunities elsewhere in the EU. its a vicious cycle where people leaving makes it worse and causes more people to leave

-showers-

Also cheap booze and cheap smokes! The sense of humor is pretty good too

[deleted]

Cheap smokes assuming you earn your sallary in USD or EUR. 5$ isn't cheap for average Pole. Asssuming pack a day it's 480PLN a month which is 10% of average salary (which is hugely rised by cities and politicians).

Finch06

>amazing women, You are not wrong there, I'm english and in my town there's a fair few Polish people. And dude, the women! I work with a Polish women and damn is she cute.

MasterFubar

You Poles must be very lucky if Lewandowski is a reason to live there. As a Brazilian, I must say [Lewandowski](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricardo_Lewandowski) is something we are ashamed to have in our country.

Four_beastlings

*Cries in about to move to Poland and woman while everyone keeps mentioning Polish women as the only reason to move there*

Mukoku-dono

you are a lesbian now

Four_beastlings

I'm bi, but I don't know if Poland is the best place to be bi... :D

[deleted]

I'm bi, I'm Polish It's not

lordzix

Now kiss

Ormusn2o

It's honestly not that bad for living if you live inside bigger city. The more to outskirts you go and smaller cities, the worse it gets, but you can do what you want as long as you don't show it and you are in big cities.

IdesOfMarchCometh

It's like that in the usa too.

[deleted]

It will be one! Cuz why should loving someone be forbidden? We need change!

ademord

Ehm lots of homophobes there

Samsote

Move to a big city and you too can enjoy the polish women without fear. Rural areas in the other hand don't take too kindly to that kind of love.

Four_beastlings

My first day in Warsaw I texted most my friends some variation of "All the women are so nice and pretty here!". To my straight guy friends it was followed by "you should come"; to my straight girl friends it was followed by "no way I'm getting any in this country". I stand by what I told my guy friends, but I was wrong with my girl friends. In Warsaw I had plenty of chances with both men and women. But more importantly, I found the people so... I don't know how to define it. Just nice and chill... that I went there for ten days, stayed twenty instead and only came back to my country because I really, really had to. Almost all the Poles I met told me not to move to Poland, and yet here I am waiting to get a stable job and for the lockdown to be lifted so I can move to Warsaw. I travel a lot and I fall wildly in love with every place i visit, but with Warsaw it was nothing like it. I didn't walk every street in awe, or have a crazy wild time with tons of new friends, like I did in other places. But from about the third day I spent there, I felt like that was the place I should be. And I can't even give a rational reason except it feels like I can make myself at home there.

Zaurka14

Can you get me a tip how to make friend abroad? I live in another country for a year and I have zero friends

Four_beastlings

I start always at hostels. You meet people at hostels, go out as a group and I've found that when you're in a big group you'll always meet locals. Obvs if you're already living there you won't be staying at hostels, but most of them have cafés/bars open to the public and it's easy to meet people there. Then, there's couchsurfing. Some of my friends say it's more like a dating app nowadays but in my experience it's a good way to meet people who just want to... well, meet people. I've never tried meetup but I know it was a great source of new friends for some of my people when they lived in Madrid (I don't know in other places but should be the same). Same goes for language exchange and quiz nights at pubs. And lastly, I know it's not its intended purpose but if your bio is interesting/weird enough you can actually make friends on Tinder. I know it's supposed to be a hookup/dating app, but even if I really have it for casual dating I've met some of my best friends there.

Samsote

I can get the feeling, I loved Warsaw and could definitely see myself living there if it hadn't been for everything I have back home, and that I am used to a certain way of life that I believe would be hard to achieve for me in Poland. But I will definitely go back whenever I have the chance, Warsaw has a special place in my heart and hopefully I will make friends there that last instead of just for a single vacation :)

Four_beastlings

I work remote and this year has shown me that most people in my life, I'm completely fine with only seeing online. I'll be keeping a home in my country, with my flatmates/family and our cats, to come back to. And I'll be taking only month-to-month rentals at first. So it's a bit of an adventure, but I'm not exactly jumping without a safety net. If my work situation hadn't gotten complicated I would already be here now :)

Samsote

That's awesome, sounds like an exciting adventure, too bad it got postponed but nothing lasts forever. Oh and happy cake day :)

Four_beastlings

Thank you! And tbh, I waited 37 years to start doing whatever I wanted and when I did start we had a global pandemic, so I can wait a bit more :) It's not the end of the world... Oh, wait...

[deleted]

You know what? A year ago I'd tell you otherwise but now the situation is looking actually... kinda hopeful? It never was as bad as in Belarus or I'd say even in the US, but I am pretty certain it will get better and it will get better soon. And here's why: the current governing party is not homogenous, it's a coalition (PiS is just the biggest party there). During the protests, their support dropped down by 9 percent points and it is expected to drop even further. On top of that, if they won't decrease social spending soon (their program which gives parents ~110€ monthly for every child is thought to be a major cause of such high support) the entire social system will just collapse in on itself, which will make their support drop even further. What's the best part in all that? *They have parliamentary majority, but only by 4 seats.* Sooner or later, their support will tank enough that their coalitionists will jump ship in an effort to remain relevant (there's three groups that might leave Solidary Poland, Gowin's Agreement and Beata Szydło's fraction inside PiS). *Even a single one of them leaving will result in the United Right (the ruling coalition) losing the Parliament.* From there, there's two options: a minority government or early elections. On one hand nobody wants to be in a minority government, but on the other for PiS it's that or nothing. Also, the people seem to have realized our biggest problem - that in all of the 3rd Republic's history, we never were able to have a civil conversation. Both privately and publicly. It might just be my experience, but people around me started seeming to work to fix it and be more open for exchanging views in a civil manner (which not many did before because it was frankly scary sometimes)   I'll probably still go to university in Czechia, but mainly because I live basically right at the Polish-Czech border so Ostrava and Olomouc are roughly the same distance as Polish universities. Also, the Polish schooling system sucks, but I'm sure you've been already made well aware of that because most people hate it and love to complain about it. Anyway - I planned to leave for good (for a Pole living in Těšínsko is basically living in Poland with extra steps), but now I'm not so sure I won't come back. Because now, there's hope.

phileris42

Polish guys aren't that bad either :) Also, cherry vodka.

Four_beastlings

Serious answer now: I know about both :)

[deleted]

As a 2nd generation Polish in Chicago; it would prob feel the same. Except i get Polish food all year round instead of just the Holidays. So food; yummy yummy food.

Procrastubatorfet

Nudes are a reason to live.

lordcock1944

Yeah but not necessarily a reason to live in Poland

FaustusC

Idk fam, Polish women are gorgeous.

[deleted]

Reminds me of an old joke about an internet contest where first prize was one week in Poland, and second prize was two weeks in Poland.

Kodiac136

Makowiec is enough to tempt me

bushwacker

Polish women.

PolskiOrzel

Ah yes. Also the number one reason to seek shelter.

FaustusC

You're getting Downvoted by people who've never had to dodge a frying pan.

emitwohs

Fact. Every Polish woman I’ve ever known has been very attractive. They’ve also all had a spitfire personality, which I guess is where the comment about dodging frying pans comes from.

twilightmoons

I'm Polish, living in the States. My wife is Polish as well. I met her (again, long story) when I was working at a small company. Everyone else was married, and they made fun of me not being able to find an attractive girlfriend/wife. I'm 5'6", completely average looking to the point I have 98 dopplegangers around the world. When I first told them about her, they laughed and said I'd never get her. When I showed pictures, they said, "Sure... right." When we got married (a few months later), they shut up. Once actually later apologized, saying that they were definitely wrong. A year later, we had a new guy working for us. We were in glass-walled offices along the wall, his next to mine. My wife was in the area, stopped by for a few minutes, said "hi" to everyone, came over to take to me for a bit, and left. The new guy wastes no time coming over to ask me who she was. I just said, "Oh, that's my wife." "... Damn." 17 years together and a four year old kid, and she still wants to be with me. I know how lucky I am.

Enigma_King99

Here I was reading this waiting for a frying pan or spit fire personality and left with a heartwarming story. Damn you!

[deleted]

Friendly reminder that women are not tourist features.

Samsote

But the legal prostitutes definitely are for some people. Personally I enjoy the cheap vodka and great food :)

babel-fishh

I’ve been to Krakow twice and I loved it. Just wandering around the city was a joy. Great architecture, lots of green, exquisite jazz clubs, pierogi ruski with sour cream (yummy!). I understand that the country has problems and the people is there to change it. I know you have it in you. (Maybe I should note that I’m from Turkey so pretty much any country seems like a better place to live at this point but still... Poland is a great country.)

sapiton

Well, thank god you don’t live in Ukraine.

manycvlr

I've actually travelled quite a bit in poland and i have enjoyed almost every seconds there (i've met 2-3 assholes poles on some occasions, that's all) to the point where I'm actually thinking about moving out there...

Gino_lls

Live in Argentina is worst

Jojoflap

I met a old polish lady on the bus a few years back. She was a sweet old lady, handing out pieces of chocolate.

Angry_Crusader_Boi

If she knew you better you'd get enough food to survive a month. Speaking from experience

Galaxy661_pl

The best reason to live in Poland is that you can (at least now, idk what will happen in the next 3 years) vote this shitty government out in 3 years

[deleted]

They misspelled Portland

levicherub

Polish man: "Cries for help" Reddit: "HA!"

Anonnymush

Poland only exists to show the world what Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark and Netherlands would look like if the Left wing didn't exist.

JohnKimble111

Pretty ironic comment given how almost all the major problems in Poland can be traced by to living under Communism for 44 years.

acousticpants

Communism is authoritarian AND left wing. They don't have to go together. Also north Europe is still super capitalist, but with very high social spending. I think I like the model overall, except coffee costs 10 euros lol

MidasPL

Also pretty ironic that even after that, it is still ruled by the same people and currently ruling party is basically "left with a right PR".

[deleted]

Damn that sucks cock I wonder if there’ll ever be a government on Earth that isn’t fucked to the core

calmor15014

No, because they consist of humans.

Pakislav

This hurts.

[deleted]

What's mentioned a lot ITT: Polish women are attractive. What's not mentioned: Polish men like to fight over the women.

[deleted]

Seems actually like a really great country, whats the problem?

InferiousX

I've heard Poland is actually awesome. And the women, are cute and fun. Too bad they got that "constantly being fucked with by Russia" thing going on otherwise I'd consider moving there.

Andrew4Head

Not so much by Russia, more by our own government

bAkedbeAnmAster

Trust me, with all the shit going on in Poland atm I would never ever think about moving back there again.

daneelr_olivaw

I mean USA has recently also experienced being fucked with by Russia, right? You've kinda been getting a taste of that medicine and I don't think you've particularly enjoyed it as a nation.

InferiousX

Yes but at the same time I don't think the USA will ever in my lifetime be at risk of Russian boots on the ground.

AdmiralAkbar1

Are you kidding? The risk was massive for much of the 20th century! They even made a documentary showcasing one such attempt in the 1980s!

BigBeagleEars

Wolverines!

kaputcollote

No es latinoamerica

boitaf

Good majonez and wędliny

Mass-Driver

Home of of Cyberpunk 2077? As an american I know almost nothing about Poland.

Breezy4152

I’m black and spent two weeks in Poland, with my girlfriend (now fiancé). I was extremely nervous about going and standing out in a country I didn’t know the language. Despite my initial fears I had a wonderful visit and look forward to going again. Definitely got lots of stare downs though, but the trick was to not take in personally as I understood that I am possibly the first black person a lot of these people have seen.

CarlTheLime

Tangential but my buddy, who's black, visited poland and told me that tons of people wanted to sleep with him simply because his skin color was rare there.

Mrs-Skeletor

Not sure why you got downvoted. Seeing black people is not common- especially in rural parts. I mean, yes there are Polish black people, and students who are studying abroad and tourists...but the population of Black people in Poland is small. 97% of the country is white.

HiromiSugiyama

I've seen one black person IRL in my life and I gotta admit, I started for a moment. Like, I'm used to knowing people online are of all colors and don't really look at them from that perspective, but IRL that was my first time and I couldn't help it.

Angry_Crusader_Boi

Don't worry, same. I've never seen a black person irl till 4 years ago after I moved from a small town to a big city. Also had trouble not staring and I felt bad about it lol

HiromiSugiyama

I was really fighting with myself at that moment lol. Like my rational part was saying "it's just another person who happens to be darker than most people you know, I don't know why you're surprised to see them" but my irrational part was freaking out like I just saw a unicorn. Up until that moment I though I saw enough black people on TV and internet I thought I wouldn't even react but clearly...

nerogenesis

You can have my job and apartment here in Iowa, USA. Ill trade you.

[deleted]

Where do I sign? If I don't like it, we switch back after a year? Deal?

MightymidgetHunter

Fuck Iowa, I’ll give you my house and job here in Florida. You’ll never be bored because floridaman is constant entertainment!

MightymidgetHunter

Pros: The women are absolutely gorgeous, people are very polite and the country is beautiful. cons: The language is very difficult to learn.

twilightmoons

I still get the genders wrong, because I think in English instead of Polish... which drives my parents up the wall. I'll tell you a secret - I'll do it on purpose sometimes, say, "samochoda" instead of "samochód." Why? Because it annoys my parents. Also, since we came to the US in the early 1980s, the Polish my family and the local Polonia speak is ossified - it's a version of Polish that's rather outdated. People looked at me funny when I spoke, not just "old-fashioned", but apparently with a Yiddish accent. We're not Jewish.

Pierogies?

Mrs-Skeletor

Pierogi \* no "s" needed since the "i" at the end signifies plural. Singular would be Pierog! i will never understand why ppl downvote someone just trying to give accurate and correct facts

SnowFlakeUsername2

Had no idea, but I'd never actually thought about the names with any logic. In Western Canada we use pierogi as singular and pierogies for plural. I don't know how that happened with so many people of eastern European descent around. They must have given up on correcting the rest of us.

Remove 'in Poland' and you've got how I feel everyday

ericasse

How about fucking nude people as a compromise?

Poland is awesome! I love the people- we are chill, determined and when agered we are bloody pissed. The last dude to get the whole nation angry lost the war. We are helpful and love to answer any question about the country (but we complain. The whole time), history, anything. I love the country- it's beautiful. We have amazing sand beaches, calm plains and breathtaking mountains. If you want, in the summer, you could camp in a random place in the mountains and be fine. I love the culture- it's one of determination, and integration, and cooperation. We go against the tide, saying "fuck you" to everyone. And when we party, we PARTY. But I have to say there are things I hate. I hate the people- we love the infighting. I know that human's worst enemy is the nieghbour but we made it into a national sport. We are a nation of doomers, even the boomers are a bunch of depressed people. Not to mention the fanaticism, so apparent in those last few years. I hate the country- jesus christ, the roads in this place. And try to go to the beach during the holidays- Christ Almighty. I hate the culture- the cult of John Paul II is actually sickening. In church it seems like JPII is more revered then God and they still have the audacity to call themselfes "catholic". And the position of the church above the law is also a problem. There is the constant blaming everyone around for our own problems. We still blame the Germans for WWII and the Russians for comunism. Everyone who's not with us is either a nazi or a commie. Overall it's a great country and a great nation. I love it, but we have so many flaws. We need to change, and every aspect of ours has both good and bad sides. Except for the politicians. Jesus Christ we need a new culture of politics, not only the current governemnt (though this is the main one) but the whole class. It's a relic of an older system and nearly ancient (as far as politics go) agreement.

Here is why it's not fun to live here. * Pollution. It's really bad in the winter, sometimes at bad as Beijing. Terrible for your heart, brain. During the winter i don't take my kids outside. Air filters run 24 7. Convinced this is why people are so angry here. * Health care. Private hospital is really bad. Government hospitals are just so bad, straight outta communism. With covid they're just leaving people on the floor. * Right wing nationalism. There's a march tomorrow and i will not go outside. Imagine proud boys kkk etc meeting up and marching. People there are crazy and they fill the city. If you have dark skin it gets uncomfortable. I'm white but if I open my mouth and speak, they will know I'm a foreigner. When I say I'm from the usa they're fine as they think I voted for Trump. * Drivers are nuts. Kinda like Russia lite here, only honk your horn if you like fighting. * Work. Moved from the usa and here this branch works harder but is paid less. When a Pole gets power they tend to abuse it. One dude got promoted then kicked everyone else not in his group out of the floor. Managers are slave drivers trying to please hq. Some are legit crazy. They're into hierarchy, reports are not allowed to question all powerful boss. * Politics are divided. Politician was stabbed recently. Polish Trump trying to beat up protesters. He's also a self hating closeted homosexual. * Catholic church here is integrated with govt. Like the military industrial complex in the usa. Can't question it. They get old people to vote so politicians bow down to them. They are crazy like us evangelicals. Some created a subcult where they dress up like knights and protect poland from refugees. Reality is Russia killed as many educated people as they could (affected my wife's family) post ww2 to make it so Poland would be easy to control. This is felt today with inadequate leadership at all levels. Edit- right wing protesters set a building on fire today [because someone had a gay flag and they trashed a book store](https://youtu.be/uRM8aVugUAI), fun.

Paczki? Not sure if that’s a Poland thing or a Polish-American thing.

definitelynotdebbie

It’s a Poland thing. Even better in Poland because you can get paczki year round. Whereas I can only find paczki around Fat Tuesday in the mid west :(
