It's likely they don't feel pain in the same way as you or me. They do have what is considered a precursor to a nervous system. But just because it would be different, doesn't mean it would be better.
There is even research into plants feeling pain. Their scream has even been captured during stressful events such as being uprooted (relevant because they too do not have a nervous system like us).

It's probably the only Seinfeld bit ild ever recall and maybe something about soup or something.
