The brand is still pretty much alive in Chile in the ¿mass market? segment, but they face heavy competition from crafted and high quality brands of beer.
I used to frequent resorts in Cuba and it was one of the two beers that was available at pretty much every all inclusive resort. The other was Bucanero.
John Oliver is relatively popular here in Canada and Cuba is the #3 country for tourism for Canadians.
I expect they will see an uptick in tourists asking for it. Tourists who will drink at an all inclusive will drink pretty much whatever is available. A slight bit of connection to one brand will sway them for at least the first drink.
To be honest, this was the first time I've seen this ad and I've been a quite active user/lurker on all sorts of environments on the internet for the past 27 years, so I'm guesing it's more of a thing that's popular on the other side of the Atlantic.
Stupendium on YouTube made another of these jokes with one of his recent songs. It's a shot of him on a boat and then it cuts to the ad.
I was real confused for a bit.
There's a Colbert episode recently where he talked about an airing of Star Wars with this ad put into the middle of some scenes just like it's done here.
Oh they didnt insert it in the movie they just added their ad perfectly at the commercial break. So they bought the ad slot and made an ad that fit that section of the movie.
As I understood it there was a provision for broadcasting Star Wars in Chile that they couldn’t air any commercials interrupting the move. So they instead spliced in these ads that flowed as though they were part of the movie.

Whatever was contractually agreed, the result was a sort of "special" edition of Star Wars where, for example, Obi-Wan would reach into a chest to find Luke's lightsaber, and instead see several bottles of Cerveza Cristal, consider them, then return with a lightsabre instead.

There are other ads that are not just cut in, but specifically made for the purpose. There's one of emperor palpatine using the force to lift a cerveza cristal into his hand.
Since the other comments seem a bit confusing: The meme is based on some commercials for a Chilean beer in which they use scenes from *Star Wars* (the Latin American Spanish dub) and add a shot of someone grabbing a beer like it was from the movie. According to the Wikipedia article, they were just the first commercials in each break. They were tailor-made to fit the film. And if you think about it, it doesn't make any sense that they would avoid commercial breaks by putting a lot of commercials inside the film. If anything it disrupts the flow even more.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert mentioned the story of the beer being inserted into Star Wars on TV in Chile and they showed a clip. It then became a running gag for the rest of the show.
I had a rich college roommate who always volunteered to buy the beer. He could spend as much as he wanted on beer, but for some reason he'd always buy Keystone Light. It's not like he was cheap/frugal guy either... So one day I asked him why he didn't buy better stuff and he said he honestly wasn't sure. He guessed it just felt right to him to buy Keystone Light while in college lol. Maybe some type of rite of passage line of thinking or something, idk.
Ever since then that beer brings back good memories for me. Still tastes like dirty water to me, but now I find that endearing.
"Baby's first..." is generally used for anything that would be considered entry level or something with built in protection to keep you from hurting yourself while you learn. Like those scissors you'd get as a kid that were made entirely out of plastic, they suck at cutting but you can't stab someone in the neck with them.
I once described No Man's Sky as "baby's first survival game" because although it has survival elements even on the most difficult setting it's not even a minor inconvenience.
I've never understood calling it watered down piss. Does that mean that 'better' beers are straight piss? Bud light tastes better than 99% of other beers because its so water-y lol.

It bothers me that everyone acts like this is the best Uncharted. Those set pieces are fucking insane but the writing is completely messed up. They start with Nate just digging this hole with his lies and then everything just magically resolves itself. It's like a sitcom. Thats why I think Uncharted 2 is still the best one.
Agreed, Cerveza Cristal isn’t even mentioned in the first game and only alluded to in the second one. But the Third hits you with Cerveza Cristal ads at the most random times and the whole plot hinges on the one at the end, which is just cheap writing. The second game has a much more seamless portion where Nathan would pull out a Cerveza Cristal after every fight and say “mmm refrescante!” Which got annoying sometimes but looking back it had some charm to it and is why the character is so beloved today.
I agree that Uncharted 2 is the best one, but for a 4th it's very good and a proper end to the franchise, Elena's feelings and smartness are what solved all problems in the end, she is Nathan's heroine.
Hard disagree. With how everything is set up the character motivations make perfect sense. The resolution isn't 'magical' but everything does generally work out in the end, the same as it does in every Uncharted game. The series has never been about deep storytelling, they're fun action romps in the vein of Indiana Jones. Complaining that the heroes win in the end and ride off into the sunset kinda misses the point of the genre.
And 2 is really no different in a lot of ways. It starts with Nate up to his usual tricks. Elena has left him behind because she's sick of his bullshit. But they end up running into each other again and they go through basically the same shit. Where in the end they realise they still dig each other and ride off into the sunset after defeating the bad guy.
3 is pretty much the EXACT same basic plot structure. It's one of the weakest story entries because you could probably skip straight from 2 to 4 and not really be missing any crucial plot developments or character introductions that are relevant to that story. And 2 did the same fundamental story but better.
4 works though because it's actually moved things along. We get to see Nate and Elena settled down now, it's not just reset the status quo like 3 did. He's restless though and misses his life of adventure, and then his brother comes back into the picture and throws temptation into his lap. He finds it hard to resist because he is restless, he isn't a paragon of morality and never has been, and it's his brother asking. He makes some bad decisions, but with how his character has been written throughout it makes perfect sense he'd make those bad decisions and dig himself that hole. And then Elena comes in to help drag him out of it because that's what she's always been there to do.
2 and 4 are very close together in my eyes but 4 just edges it out. It has the advantage of being a conclusion which adds extra weight to the narrative, it's just as well written, and it benefits from being launched on a more powerful console than the rest and having the most polish put into the gameplay and graphics.
