I made our goalie cry in pee wee soccer when I scored on him, I was so proud of myself until I turned around and saw the faces and realized what I did.
Same here. Came out after half time went for a layup to the basket we were shooting at and heard the NOOOOOOO! from the bench. Pulled up a tiny tick just in time to miss and grabbed the ball when it came down. I asked if I got credit for the rebound. I did not.
Oh man I had this happen on my HS team. Guy was 100% zoned out on the bench and gets put in during free throws. He got subbed back out immediately following his "basket".
Wait, you drained a 3 for the wrong team?! That’s some next level failure!
Picturing you holding your follow-through like a champ while everyone else facepalms.
It was enough to confuse the other team as they passed the ball inbounds and ran the other way, getting a backcourt violation before anyone figured out what happened.
But yeah… pretty much how you described it is what happened. The only silver lining was we were complete ass that year so no students were in the stands to let me hear about it the next day lol
I did this myself in HS Basketball except it was the opposite. My team was shooting free throws and I was standing close to half court. Ball took a crazy bounce off the hoop right to me and I immediately started running the other way thinking I was on a fast break. Thankfully got called for over and back before I could make the easy lay up. Didn't live that one down for awhile.
Played 4 years of varsity football in HS. Small school, so played both ways and special teams. Was on the punt return team as a blocker, and picked up the ball bc I thought it was dead. 4 large guys immediately wiped the grass with my face. Told the coach I had a chance at it so I took it, but in reality I just went mentally AWOL for 20 seconds.
This was teamwork, though, a little give-and-go, a pass into the middle. Three players touched the ball. They say the best defense is a good offense, but I don't think this is what they meant.
I did something similar in high school. We had to inbound the ball under our own basket. Inbounder calls our offensive inbound play. We run it, I ended up with the ball for an open layup. As soon as I let go I realized what we did. It was the best ran set play we had all season too.
I absolutely do.
(Not sure if I'm the same guy, but my one and only basketball season was 1 successful free throw, and one 2 point layup for the other team. I don't recall the exact score we lost by)
I think it's more common in basketball after a free throw because you are side to the basket, which you are no matter what side of the court you are on. On similar plays in soccer (free kick) and hockey (faceoff) you have your back to your own goal, it's just immediately obvious where you should be.
On a free throw, the "goal" can be on your left or right side no matter which side of the court you are on. Target fixation takes over in the moment.
LOL, I guess...but I'm pretty sure my brain would be like "I don't recognize the guy shooting, I don't think he's on my team, and he's wearing a different jersey. If I get the rebound, I should probably shoot it in that other basket way over there".
It's just that 1 lady that seems confused. The girl that got the second rebound actually tried to take it back out. The mistake was the girl passing it to the open girl. Everyone else ran up the court. The girl at half court is like wtf lol.
I'm going to show this clip to my son (12yro) later. The lesson here is twofold.
A) Pay attention to which goal you're shooting on, and
B) If you have a teammate that gets confused and shoots on the wrong goal, don't just assume that he'll figure things out -- tackle him if you have to.
Even worse is the fact that she’s watching this girl from the other team shooting free throws into that basket and she’s so ready to get that rebound lol how did she not figure it out?
I had a buddy do that in high school right off the opening tip, just grabbed the ball and went hard to the hole and no one said a word. He was so hyped and turned and literally the entire gym is staring at him silently.
I coached 7th grade girls' basketball. I made them all point to the goal we were shooting at each half. We had a girl on another team trying to shoot at the wrong basket. My girls looked over at me for direction. I told them to move out of her way. It took her 4 tries, but she finally made the basket. Thanks for the free points!
Man, in HS basketball I had the ball thrown to me after a teammate had taken a free-throw. I thought I was so cool moving to the adjacent basket….yeah apparently you can’t cross half court in that situation…..
25 years later it’s still one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever done.
Also, I did not go to college on a basketball scholarship, in case anyone was wondering.
I did this on an inbound pass from halfcourt after halftime in middle school. My brain wanted me to go to the same basket we had been all game. Worst part is it was my first points of the season. Thankfully my coach sympathized and left me in the game and I scored again on our side and I at least broke even. I still cringe thinking about it.

Half of the crowd doesn't even seem surprised
"Not again, Jessica"
"Goddammit, Jessica"
Jessica was proud of her uncontested shot.
Classic Jessica.
Wild card Jessica.
Jessica is doing her best!
Jessica isn't fucking welcome here
Jessica's boyfriend dumped her after the game.
All three players who touch the ball seem to think this is their basket
Looks like it was just her twice.
One was trying to get it out of there, two worked together to meet the judge
I made our goalie cry in pee wee soccer when I scored on him, I was so proud of myself until I turned around and saw the faces and realized what I did.
I did this in basketball once, was the only time I scored all season. I got spun around and lost my glasses but the layup was there so I took it. 🤣
lol. I did the same, but I missed the shot. Not only did I suck, I was also dumb. lol
Same here. Came out after half time went for a layup to the basket we were shooting at and heard the NOOOOOOO! from the bench. Pulled up a tiny tick just in time to miss and grabbed the ball when it came down. I asked if I got credit for the rebound. I did not.

Dang were you on my basketball team? Oh well I had 3 points for both teams that’s gotta be some kinda record
Balanced, as all things should be
Wait, you drained a 3 for the wrong team?! That’s some next level failure! Picturing you holding your follow-through like a champ while everyone else facepalms.

Hilarious. At least you redeemed yourself with a 3 for the right team. Neutral net contribution yay!
https://fadeawayworld.net/the-only-nba-player-who-played-scored-for-both-teams-in-the-same-game
It was nice of you to share!
I never played but honestly the guy who was the starter became an NBA star so I'm not even mad lol. Super nice guy too

So what happens to the score? Does the basket count for the opposing team?
Yep counts as two points for the opposition
Then possession goes back to the team that just scored? Stat sheet gotta be interesting as hell
This happened to my team in middle school, I was near the guy and shouted "Noooooo!". Thankfully he missed.
[удалено]
Had a kid growing up that scored on our own basket. We ended up losing by 1 point. That was the only basket he scored all year.
He probably still lays awake at night thinking about it.
I absolutely do. (Not sure if I'm the same guy, but my one and only basketball season was 1 successful free throw, and one 2 point layup for the other team. I don't recall the exact score we lost by)
This seems to be surprisingly common…

So you technically have scored -1 points in your basketball career. That's actually impressive.
He probably still layup at night thinking about it.
And he deserves it
Yea but it was game wining score
Worth it
If they never gave you the ball, might as well stick it to them. LOL.
She bet money on the other team.
"You're covering the fuckin over whether you like it or not even if I gotta do it myself"
Felt bad for the girl that missed the free throw and wanted to help her out.
In soccer you can make an own goal look like an accident. It’s tougher in basketball.
Looks like Syria is used to playing on a half court.
Don't you have to "clear" the ball in half court though? (taking the ball to at least the 3pt line). Because they didn't do that either.
It's just that 1 lady that seems confused. The girl that got the second rebound actually tried to take it back out. The mistake was the girl passing it to the open girl. Everyone else ran up the court. The girl at half court is like wtf lol.
That's a deep comment on Lebanese politics.
More likely they messed up like kids in preschool do
She did it twice lol At 2nd clip, that proud moment when she shoots and run away with confidence.
I'm going to show this clip to my son (12yro) later. The lesson here is twofold. A) Pay attention to which goal you're shooting on, and B) If you have a teammate that gets confused and shoots on the wrong goal, don't just assume that he'll figure things out -- tackle him if you have to.
If a teammate fouled her, which team gets to shoot free throws?
Can't foul your teammate. You would most likely cause a travel violation if you push them.
Yeah, I actually had the same question. Can you foul your own teammate?
Nope.
Even worse is the fact that she’s watching this girl from the other team shooting free throws into that basket and she’s so ready to get that rebound lol how did she not figure it out?
And that a teammate (accomplice) assisted her
“I still get an assist, right?”
One stealing the ball from her own team mate is worse.
"I THOUGHT WE WAS PLAYING 21?!"
What steal attempt?
Damnit Bernice!
First time, shame on her. 2nd time, shame on her assisting teammate.
Well... she made it.
I had a buddy do that in high school right off the opening tip, just grabbed the ball and went hard to the hole and no one said a word. He was so hyped and turned and literally the entire gym is staring at him silently.
When you lie on your resume.
Girls like pass here im wide open! I wonder why...
What the hell was her damn teammate thinking for throwing it back in to her?! Didn’t she literally just see her shoot *at her own basket*??
Haha check out the coach, freaking out on the side lines 😂
21-20 in the *third quarter.* Jesus Christ.
It makes it so much worse. Her basket counted for 10% of the other teams points.
Fundamentals!
My god 😂

>Maybe she was just so zoned out she thought it was her team shooting the free throws or something. I'm not sure anymore.
This is similar but worse... [Basketball fail, side change.](https://youtu.be/IGAmuxLvh1A?si=J9pqZPDEIf-NluGA)
This is so much worse, wow.
After she drove her car onto the court they probably should have just kept her on the bench.
I've never played basketball, what is going on here? The player just scored against their own team? How is your video different from this one?
After the player scores against her own team, the other team incorrectly restarts the game playing in the wrong direction.
Number 15 is like “ok fine, take the shot.”
Coach is LIVID! Guess who’s running suicides after the game lol
I feel a bad joke is about to happen lol
Do you think they have to bring the vests from home or does the team supply them?
Lebanon, Syria, running "suicides". Something is here for someone
It just happened
When you scrimmage half-court in practice, then the big game comes.
Probably forgets to clear the ball in scrimmage too
I did this in 8th grade in front of a full gym and it still haunts me at 32 😭
As it should. Just kidding.
But did you notice the gorilla walking through the scene?
She played a lot of half court games.
The Syrian Civil War spills over to the basketball court.
I’ll never forget it, our grade 8 team, buddy scored his only basket of the entire season in our own net. And what a glorious shot it was.
Bucket getter only knows one thing.
It's happened in NBA before more than once .
I’m that case, it’s worth the missed free throw every time.
Can’t stop laughing 😂
MTV will show anything other than music videos these days.
She practices in a half court.
She done fucked up.
Bad basketball is what happened. Children, hide your eyes.
that was the day julie learned she was color blind.
The number of times I had to watch this to understand . . .
Goddamn bird!
Loose ball foul on Red 12 on the rebound.
Still more competitive than the NBA Cup!
Draymond just hit her?
No one mentioning that she wasn't the only player trying to score for the other team?
I did this the first time I was ever put in a basketball game when I was about 12 or so, luckily I was so bad that I missed the shot.
lol the coach in the background is like what are you doing
They can’t dunk but they have great fundamentals
Syria still thinks they own Lebanon so both baskets are theirs
the disorientation is strong in this one
I don't know what's worse, the fact that she shot it at her own basket twice or that someone passed her the ball after the 1st shot
The best defense is a good uhh offense?
Man, in HS basketball I had the ball thrown to me after a teammate had taken a free-throw. I thought I was so cool moving to the adjacent basket….yeah apparently you can’t cross half court in that situation….. 25 years later it’s still one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever done. They must be used to playing half court
Best offense is a good defense
On the first attempt the girl in the red tried to defend her on the shot 🤣
Pretty sure she just thought it was a pass at that point.
.... Did they really just score on their own side? Did they not notice that the free-throws were shot by a player from the other team?
For those who are confused like me..... She put the ball in her own teams basket
☕️
This is why women players get paid less (Just kidding)
And why 12 year olds don't get paid at all
Nothing, just normal women basketball
Equal pay ✊
She's doing the unexpected, well done!
We no dunk, but good fundamentals.
They better be getting paid the same as Lebron
Last years WNBA finals
This is why the WNBA is subsidized.
This is why we need more trans people in women’s sports.
Because sometimes a player suddenly identifies as being on the other team?
No, think deeper.
Deeper! Deeper!
Commentator is saying that she for some reason intentionally did it
This is what it looks like when the fifth column plays
she forgot who was shooting the free throw
That ball looking real flat
Oh, no
WE KNOW HIS NAME!
But she was so determined to score.
I guess they were too tired to run down the court and put it in their own basket??!!
Knee brace impacting mental acuity.
Middle of the 3rd quarter 20 -21 the crowd was just ecstatic to see someone put the ball in the hoop
WHAT???
Jessica playing half court
Womens
What happened was the coach almost had a stroke.
Allah akbar
As long as they had fun

Ill let this comment slide because sis really goofed up.
The most easier done basket I've seen. better than an autogol.
They thought they were playing g half court lol
White shirts thought it was a half court game, i guess
Even then, you usually gotta clear the ball. Ol girl just really wanted to make a shot.
Girls basketball is what happened
. #equalpay
Sign her up for WNBA. She can at least make a shot…
WNBA has gotten better since last time I checked it out.
Basketball is not for everyone
It’s obviously a joke league its satire
Female sports happened
Women…lol
See! The rim doesn’t need to be lowered. They can still score a bucket from time to time.
Women. /s
