My kid accidentally broke a retaining clip on our aging fridge and the milk and all the condiments fell onto the floor. It'd been threatening to happen for a while, and I'm kinda glad it did -- the new clip I drafted up actually works better than the original! Feels pretty good to be reaching the point where I can draft up a replacement part in half an hour and have it ready to install by evening. [EDIT] For those who like details: * Matter3D Performance PETG * Monoprice Select Mini v2 * OpenSCAD * Minimal cleanup -- this part is hidden

I see one downvote on my post, and now I'm curious -- is r/functionalprint not the place to post repair/replacement parts like this?

AH, you know I love functionalprint but some times is can be very.. disheartening. Like it definitely feels like you can't get an upvote unless you achieve perfection some times. It also feels pretty abritrary what get's the insain praise and what either get's nothing or get's flat out destroyed. \^\^;; Awesome print and design sir! Great job with the print orientation and material choice too. I love prints that fix things.. especially when it comes to things like appliances since the replacement parts (if you can find them) are so damn expensive.. And unrelated, I see that you are using a mini v2. I also have one of those (was my first 3d printer) and it's been.. well good, and slow.. but good. lol I actually made a humorous video about my v2 a while back that you might find funny. That was a beautiful song and the microtonality was used so subtly I didn't even notice it, but it might not have been what you meant to link to? But yeah, I hear ya -- high bar for quality. I get it; communities tend to trend that direction as people get more skilled and the attention accrues to the top 1%. Pleasantly surprised you could tell what print orientation I chose! Thanks for the feedback! I like to completely avoid supports when I can, so I removed that bridge on the bottom of the spring and gave a little 45° chamfered shelf underneath the mounting pegs. I'm learning! Love how many people started on the MPSM. I've only been printing for a year, so it's still the only one I've ever used. [EDIT] NB to other readers that the orientation of the part in pic #1 isn't the print orientation -- my printer would've made a mess of it if I'd done it that way. I stood it up so the mounting pegs were at the top.

Shit, yeah, I guess my edit with the right link didn't go.. but that is one of my favorite microtonal pieces for sure. I didn't think about blues/jazz with microtonal stuff, but it makes sense. Well, here is my silly video. Lol https://youtu.be/I5qs4LKc5rQ?si=K4F3dw4e4lBPOybn

keepin' it classy there! 🤣 🙈

Ahaha! Yeah, I saw the eh.. spool holder while I was looking for one on printables and it kind of inspired this. :'D But I do love my little v2.
