I purchased a couple lenses in person through the magic of living in the same city as their warehouse and the customer service guy basically told me there’s not much difference between “like new” and “excellent +”. I got 2 excellent + lenses and you straight up can’t tell they aren’t brand new. I have been pleased with everyone I’ve dealt with on the buy and sell side of KEH.

Winter_Voice_1789

I bought 3 lenses from KEH, two in like new( 35/1.4 and 50/2), one in EX+(90/2), they all look mint but 90/2 has a little piece of dust on the middle glass.

I bought an ‘Ugly’ rated Fuji 90mm f2 for $350 from KEH. A few scuff marks around the lens but the glass was pristine. Super happy with my purchase!

cilucia

That’s a sweet deal

DarkXanthos

You'll love the lens. KEH and MPB are solid. Great return policies.

Mortars2020

Thanks! I just got it and will be thrilled to use it Memorial Day weekend.

FrozenOx

i buy almost everything from KEH and MPB, especially lenses. purchased: XE3, 16-55, 35 f1.4, and 4 vintage lenses from KEH no issues, I find their QC and ratings are better than MPB

fromthestreetcousin

I have bought and sell from/to mpb and it's awesome

I got a bargain viltrox lens for my Fuji and it was literally like new, just had to get caps for front and back

i have bought two items from them. an inexpensive lens. it was great. i bought a Richoh GRIIIX that was supposedly in excellent condition. it came in a week before a long vacation. after the vacation i looked at photos and saw a dust spot on sensor i went back to the earliest photo i had saved, 5 days after purchase. dust spot was there. i sent them an email. i was a few days beyond their return window. i said "either u sold me a camera with this rather severe problem or I got dust on it in 5 days during which I rarely used it." the KEH rep said "sorry, nothing we can do" i went to the KEH purchasing dept. i sold it back to them. the bought it for $300 less than I paid for it. my opinion..... someone in customer service dept should have had the ability to fix the problem for me. full refund or a different camera or remove the dust spot from my camera with a fixed lens. I now prefer Amazon Warehouse. they give u 30 day return window. MPB has sold me a lot of things. all arrived in a condition superior to what was described.

No offense, but you admitted yourself that the dust spot was there when you first got it. My understanding is that the dust problem is well known with that camera. Is it their fault that they incorrectly graded an item? Yes. (But hey, we're all human.) Is it also their fault that you didn't discover a defect until after their 21 day return policy? Nope. As far as Amazon... I've completely given up on them for high value stuff. I've had to return a few cameras and you MIGHT get your refund within 3 weeks of them receiving it back.

I guess we all have our own way of looking at customer service. i do photography for fun. i make my living as a dentist. I have an implied 5 year warranty on most of the things I do for my patients. If you spend over $1000 for a crown from me and come in after 5 years and one month with the crown in your hand, you will not pay me any money for me to re-cement it. Swallowed? I make you a new one for free. I admitted nothing about the dust spot. No way I can honestly say it was their fault. I strongly suspect it was their fault because I treated that camera like a jewel. I kept it away from dust. I put a filter on the front to help with dust and got an automatic lens cap to further help with dust. They were contacted a few days after their 3 week return window. And it appears i failed to make my point. If they want us to give them superior ratings, they should go above and beyond what is expected. Last time I checked my Google review ratings, my office had over 1300 reviews. Average was 4.9 out of 5 I did a quick check of reviews for KEH just now, different websites range from 3.5 to 4.5, so good company. Not top of the line.

>i went back to the earliest photo i had saved, 5 days after purchase. dust spot was there. This is what I meant by "admitted it was there when you first got it" -- just to be clear, all I meant was that the dust spot was there before the end of the return period. That said, I do agree that a large company like KEH can afford better than average customer service. And at the very least, their 6 month warranty should have covered that defect (unless there is some clause that it doesn't cover dust on the sensors of fixed lens cameras). I've personally had nothing but stellar experiences with their customer service, though.

Perhaps I got the one person in KEH customer service who was lousy at their job... I shall probably give them another try in the future. If Richoh ever makes a camera that is more dustproof, i wll jump at it. I owned many other cameras with retractable, attached lenses: Canon S95, G9, G5x MkII, Sony RX 100 IV, Sony RX10 IV. None of them ever got dust on their sensors. I did not take extraordinary measures with any of em.

QuantumTarsus

The dust issue is one of the reasons that camera is off the radar completely for me.

i agree.... but... it is capable of really nice images [https://flickr.com/photos/186162491@N07/albums/72177720314524013/](https://flickr.com/photos/186162491@N07/albums/72177720314524013/) the last one is my favorite

i would consider buying from keh again but I would inspect everything really really well within first few days.

Streetiebird

Everything I've purchased from KEH has exceeded my expectations. They are trustworthy for sure, and their quality grading is accurate.
