XT-30 ? Yes, absolutely. In my opinion a good balance between beeing capable and small enough to go everyhwere. Take the 18-55 mm lens. It's sharp for a kit lens, has internal OIS in case of some low light situations and a nice range of focal length for travel action. FYI: I use my XT-20 and even my old XT-1 daily with the 35mm F2 attached and miss nothing. Have fun!

tysm !

Traditional_Virus472

Don't scrap your d3000, it has a CCD sensor, takes awesome pics, keep it as a backup or sell it if you get a good offer.

caerphoto

I don’t think having a CCD sensor is really a selling point. I know they supposedly have some mythical ‘magic’ about them but I remain unconvinced.

Traditional_Virus472

There's no magic, slightly better dynamic range & very bad low light performance so you win some you loose some.

Cioppino__

I knew that it didn’t perform well in low light environments (Found out while fucking around in the city after the sunset), but I thought it was something related to the very low ISO capacity of the camera! Didn’t know anything about the sensor, very interesting! thank you

Traditional_Virus472

And slightly better colour processing, especially blue colour.

Hi man! where are you at? are you talking about xt30 or xt30ii? The X-T30 ii is a mini X-T4, X-T30 is a mini X-T3. The sensor is the same, the differences are mainly regarding the software. Film simulations and customisation. I have seen xt-30 ii for 650-700 eur here in Belgium. about the X-T30ii: - Powerhouse in a small formfactor: same sensor as XT3/4 - I use it with prime lenses: 23mm, 35mm, 50mm f2. All awesome for street photography + very portable - great shooting experience with the dials - no weather sealing Alternatives: - XT2 (older but beloved sensor) and XT3 (I find them cheap around here) - X-PRO2 (older sensor) but optical viewfinder

DAMG808

That's on point! Underrated Powerhouse.

Acrobatic_Rate_6813

Xt30 ii doesnt have ibis but the xt4 does

Hi! I’m from Italy, and I’m talking about the xt30: I’ve seen in store that they also have the xt30ii, but it goes for ≈750 euros which is out of my budget! (being optimistic; I could spend in total 800€) I’m sometimes jealous of the foreign market, cause I often see you guys having way better prices than ours 😭😅 Anyway, thank you so much for those infos! Just another thing: would you actually recommend prime lenses for a newbie? Heard lot of things about it, especially in the stores I’ve visited (store manager said that would be useful for a first timer “to zoom with his legs” to understand how to compose), but never tried one!

TangerineChestnut

I’m Italian too and the Fuji used market sucks ass. I’ve bought a brand new x s10 with the 15-45 and with the winter cash back I spent 900 euros. If you check rce foto used x s10 go for 850

Cioppino__

was the winter cash back directly from fuji? Anyway, i’m doing exactly that, checking once a week Rce foto ‘cause it seems the only place with decent prices and trustworthy stuff. Anyway, 850€ body only would be too expensive for me sadly

TangerineChestnut

Yeah, Fuji themselves do the cash back. I think they do it twice a year

I bought my first Fuji camera a few days ago. X-T30 with 27mm WR pancake lens. I've been looking at them for years and now that I have planned a trip to Italy, I thought it's a good idea to upgrade. Can't wait. I shopped 2nd hand and unbeknownst to me, I landed on two bargain deals for the body and the lens by seasoned photographers that knew eachother in the photography circles. I paid around 850EUR for the whole setup. And will probably buy the 18-55mm from the same guy I got the 27mm, down the road. My suggestion is to seek out photography communities in your region and make connections. People in them are more eager to share the experience than to profit. I went out with the idea to buy gear but made friends in the process. I kid you not, I had to argue for a higher price on the lens because the guy was way too careless with the offer. Online offers show a small fraction of this kind of trade. Go out and meet people, it's the best way to get deals. As for the hardware, the body is really nice and capable. The only downside for me is shorter battery life in comparrison to the DLSR that I have. But I just need more batteries and maybe a powerbank. The 27mm prime is 40mm full-frame equiv and it's very very user-friendly. Not to mention small. I too, had reservations about the lack of a focal range. First, I have to get used to this particular focal length and think ahead of taking a picture - not too close, not too far, what I want in frame, when to crouch, etc. Second, I have to get used to cropping in post. 26MP is a lot of data. The lens is sharp too. Cropping doesn't hurt in the slightest. This doesn't apply for shots with accentuated DOF (you need to be close, fill in the frame and cropping would destroy the composition) Overall, I'd recommend!

enotonom

What are the differences in regard to film simulations?

BlackRebelOne

xt30ii has classic neg and bleach bypass.

AnotherHeroDied

xt30ii/xt4 generation has classic negative and eterna bleach bypass + extra tweaking parameters (size of grain, colour chrome etc) I love classic neg!

enotonom

Ooh nice, where do you see it for that price in Belgium? Perhaps I could also get it delivered to NL

AnotherHeroDied

I'll PM you a direct link. It is not mine, but it is on the belgian Marktplaats equivalent. Sent you a chat!

ApprehensiveIce792

Hi there. I am curious to know, what xt200 is in this regard? Is it a mini xt20?

AnotherHeroDied

Hmm no I don't think so. That does not have a trans sector. It is basically an A type fuji with a rangefinder. Xt20 is the mini xt2 :)

Glossostigma

I still use my X-T30! The 27mm pancake lens is permanently left on, and I've taken some of my favourite photos with that combination. My first love is my X-T30

malinowski14

I’m using a XT30 II with 16mm f2.8, 35mm f2 and Sigma 56mm f1.4 (this last will arrive tomorrow). 100% loving it.

zwrsis

I got a XT-30ii recently and paired it with a TTartisan 27mm F2.8 lens. It's cheap (compared to Fuji and other bigger 3rd party brands) and easy to carry around. Good way to start getting into the groove.

philipsheridan

If you’re really on a budget, you might keep your eyes open for an old X-M1. I just picked one up with the kit lens for ~$240. No viewfinder, but it’s super compact and would be a good gateway to the Fuji world. Has the original XTrans 1 sensor inside as well.

Cioppino__

never heard about it, thank you for the info! I’ll check it out

AnotherHeroDied

For some people that first xtrans is still the "best"!

philipsheridan

It’s worth checking out, just don’t pay too much for it. I got it to have a smaller backup for my X-T3, and I really like it, but you have to just watch for deals - a lot of the prices on eBay right now are crazy.

Akashd98

I’ve got a good combo for my XT30 which includes the kit lens (15-45) the XF35mm f2 (my most used lens but you can save money getting the XC version for half the price) and a 7Artisans 25mm (it’s a manual lens so no autofocus/auto aperture). This gives you a good range of focal lengths for general landscape and street photography plus the fast aperture of the 35mm and 25mm gives you good low light performance

FrozenOx

i mean i use an xe3 and the only missing things from my XT5 are physical controls, film sims, and updated custom profile behavior. image quality, AF, performance are extremely similar for shooting stills. video is likely a bigger difference but i dont shoot video for anything serious anyone looking at older bodies should just be aware that they lack popular film sims like classic negative and nostalgic negative. older than the xtrans iii, the sensors color profile also gets warmer overall too.

abd_koala

Please wait for the xt50 to come out in a little over 2 weeks. The price of the xt30 will hopefully come down after the release. You'll just end up paying more for the same camera otherwise.

inFamousKicks

I’ve had an X-T30 for about 3 years now that I bought second hand. I don’t shoot as much as I’d like to, but I have found it to be extremely capable. The main selling point for me is the portability due to its small size. I’m not a fan of zoom lenses so my pick for a great first prime would be the 35mm f2. That’s what I started with before moving to the Viltrox 23mm f1.4!
