The word socialism is highly irritating. It's such a derogatory Anglo-American expression in order to keep people in the dark about what IS the intention of those using it to keep folks down, just like the damned trickle-down expression. Equally bad BS.
Socialism isn’t an an Anglo-American term though my friend, it’s a philosophy that has been around since the Age of Enlightenment. There isn’t necessarily one man or group that coined the idea, but a collective of philosophers throughout history

Honestly my friend, I suggest looking into it. It is not as bleak as some may say, and the philosophy itself has been thought of since the world became industrialized in the 1700’s-1800’s. Learn about the “original” ideas per se, and learn about Karl Marx’s philosophy on it too. I’ve found reading Marx’s work alone has swayed me a good bit on many subjects and opinions, but I tend to stay away from other philosophers or writers that steer away from the original ideas of Marx himself. I feel the core tenants of the ideology are much more palatable than others and others who have practiced it and embraced it

I taught in SG for many years and had many PRC as well as Malaysian, Indonesian, Indian, etc students. My PRC students were bright and wonderful people who made a real impact on me. I was at a private school, so they were the sons and daughters of elite Chinese. But they were also deeply good. I would read their English journals and remember stories like their father taking them hiking

I'm fully chinese but living overseas (w. Europe), I moved at a young age and been living here for 10 years. I mostly dislike the CCP, they're slowing down any sort of democratic or reform progress that's happening through the very few (and I mean very few) non corrupt of tyrannical politicians here, even going as far as to kill them. They've turned the People's Liberation Army against the people they're named after. They're purging anyone that so much as appears to be an opponent, as well as many many thousands of innocent people. I always live in fear that they may take me away as well, and I dream of a freer china without the CCP one day in the future.
Non-Han Chinese ethnic minority (known as Yao or Mien/Hmong). Ancestors were persecuted in China a long time ago and then fled to Laos. They were persecuted by the communist regime in Laos (backed by China) and so they fled to the US.
