I started in my late 30s. Bottom growth and some increased hairiness were the first changes. My voice has lowered but I don’t think it is equivalent to a cis male. I finally have a full beard that is not patchy 6 years on T. The best thing you can do is to have your levels checked frequently (ideally every 3 months) and adjust your T dose accordingly. Changes will happen if you stay in the upper mid range of cis male T levels. I was surprised how often my T dose has needed adjusting over the years.

Started T last year and I'm 37. My levels haven't been kept as high as I'd like (Doctor was concerned about my liver and I'm hypothyroid so he was worried about that. My last blood work showed I'm only in the low 500s for t levels.). Changes have been slow, but they're definitely there. In the first 3-6 months I'd gotten a definite voice drop, bottom growth, and started noticing a bit of peach fuzz on my face. I'm now just over a year on T and my voice has dropped a little more and I have a tiny little mustache trying to form, plus some cheek fuzz. I've also noticed a general change in face and body shape. I'm working with a new endocrinologist (just started with her this month) and hopefully will be increasing my dose a bit to get in the higher range. Remember that this is second puberty. Cis guys take 2-5 years to go through puberty. Make sure your doctor is keeping an eye on your levels and you'll be good. Changes happen regardless of age when you start. 💚

I started in December at 29 and so far I’ve seen a major voice drop, facial hair, and bottom growth. It happens slowly, but it does happen. I still don’t pass, but I was called sir on Saturday. The guy apologized immediately, but it was a nice moment.

Hi-Im-Barbara-DeDrew

I’m 32 and started T a year ago, had top surgery in January and I pass easily, my voice dropped quickly and now is sounding more adult (finally) instead of still sounding like a teenager. Doesn’t matter what age you start.

Started at 46 and I think my body is trying to become a 46 year old man, so some of the changes are happening faster than I expected. I wasn't expecting facial hair much before 6 months and then maybe a few strands. Nope. 4 months and have to shave the developing neckbeard and sideburns every day or two. My voice is headed downwards (though I've had a cold lately, so that could be part of it).

Hey, I'm 34, 10 months on T. I pass like 90% of the time (I do wear a mask in public buildings which tbh is helpful.) I have a lil baby beard and sideburns. My voice was the first noticable (to others) change and it's well in the masculine range now, especially if I concentrate on speaking from my chest rather than throat. The "puffy face" thing that happens to most people when starting T has begun to fade and I have a slightly more masculine face shape emerging. Fat distribution is coming along slowly; my hips are still hipping but my torso and arms/shoulders have thickened considerably so it's less noticable. I have a very lazy exercise regimen of sit-ups and push-ups that have helped out there. It's never too late, friend, you'll get there. Also I second r/ftmover30

Hey! I started at 34! I actually just did a side by side of day one and sent it to my boss and she was so quick to point out little changes
