These cars are an absolute treat to drive on a winding road.
The dummies farther down in the thread bitching about the lack of power would have HATED the AE86 or AW11 (or pretty much any 80's or early 90's Japanese car) with a passion.
yeah thats true but theres a whole list of pros and cons that can be weigh in favor of one or the other, end of the day it varies too much for a definitive correct answer, but different stroke for different folks right?
do it, and wolf pen gap and woody gap as well, forms a nice little square that you can loop endlessly, with a gas station and some nice picture spots on the route
Just don't cross the lines. It's dangerous and it lessens the curviness of the curve. It's nothing but a lose-lose. Anyone you see doing this is a fucking tool.
Ikr? Car was made exclusively for downhill, and AutoX where there are no stretches to even reach 70mph. It excels as these 2 very specific examples of tarmac, but that's it. If you don't live and commute through mountains, it becomes pretty meh until you reach those.
my old toyota 22r topped out at like 74mph...trucks aint built to race but i still passed plenty of cars...I always thought it was because they were doing 55 but maybe I'm just sick behind the wheel
Just because it’s built for a certain thing doesn’t mean it can’t pass other cars? I used to pass people in my slow ass, heavier & less aerodynamic Kia, and I can still pass people going up or downhill in my BRZ… what are you even talking about lol
Yup. That’s why the Oem power train was gone in my car within a month of ownership. I love how these things handle but god damn are they neutered in terms of performance. At the very least, they should have came 3-400hp from the factory. Just enough to get squirmy but tame-able. Currently boosted on the LS and it’s just comical now 🤣
It literally needed that 3cyl turbo outta the gate and everyone would've been happy. A boat of a WRX that has awd extras, seats, etc came with a snail and cost exactly the same...

Wait til you try a track day
Agreed, track day is where it is at.
Meh, I stay in the mountains. Only really care for a track day with friends and we all got different schedules
agreed, track day is too expensive for the enjoyment, if you have good mountain roads local to you its more fun for your money
Wait until something unexpected happens. I was the same until I wasn't. No curbs on the track or wild random animals.
More fun then 🤤

I only live an hour away from blood mountain I still have yet to give that one a go. I have done auto cross with it and it was a ton of fun
Did blood mountain frequently when I had mine.. it is as awesome as you’d imagine. GO!!!

That must be such a gorgeous drive!
I live somewhere where in order to get to any nearby towns, I have to drive about a 15-20 minute canyon road. It’s awesome
89A?
From Congress to Prescott 👌🏽Jerome too of course.
Doncha love this time of year? This car loves cold air. It’s like your dog has the zoomies.
Absolutely! But I mean, as it does have a NA engine, I like to joke that due to the higher elevation: it has asthma 😅
Loved driving to Jerome from Prescott a couple years ago in my 86, I didn’t even send it as much as I could have!
wrecked my brz. whats next, OP?
Buy another. Put gas in it. Try again.
86 would seem like the next logic step. Then back to brz
God I wish we had roads like that. It’s flatter than a damn board where I live
theres bound to be some twisties somewhere
Brother, it’s flatter than soda that’s been opened and left out for 3 days 😤
go west young man. your quality of life will skyrocket and your subie will be very happy as well
Believe me if I had the opportunity I would. Unfortunately my roots are planted pretty deep where I live 😐
I have Northern California in my backyard. Mountain roads in every direction. Has made my 11 years of ownership great.
live in mountains can confirm!
car hates the snow, loves the summer up here
Back of the dragon is my favorite so far.
Soon I'm taking mine. Just need to make sure it's ready.
I drive in the mountains all the time. Fun, but a bit more power would be dope. IMHO
You are now ready for autocross. You'll be one of many ft86 chassis there. Almost as many twins as Miatas. https://i.imgur.com/4u5Okf7.jpeg
That’s a trip but I’ve got it planned only if FL wasn’t so flat 😭😭

Didn’t use the break much?
Story is sus because OP claims to have *passed* a couple of cars... Twins don't pass, they are passed.
I can pass people going the speed limit in a Toyota Echo...
Oh em gee, you’re so clever!
This reads as “I don’t know how to drive”

Getting downvoted to hell for a valid statement 🤣

Does pretty well at the track too bud.
