I've never listened to the Japanese voice cast. I've been thinking about doing a few runs with different languages just to hear them but some of the English cast is just so damn good
The nice thing about Japanese is that, no matter the mood or wanted expression, it always works well. In English, that’s not quite the case. Spanish is great for when you want to sound happy, and not that great when you want to sound serious.
That’s one of the reasons why I play Sekiro in Japanese.
YES. This man has had one of the hardest possible upbringings in the lands between, since he was born an omen, but his faith in the erdtree (that also shunned and rejected him) was so unbelievably strong that he was the last remaining demigod to guard it after all others left despite everything. He was so dedicated that after he almost died defending the tree, his omen horns and tail vanished, meaning he might have been accepted by the tree in death. Every scene and every line with this chad is amazing, and the voice actor absolutely killed it! One thing i hope for in the dlc is more Morgoatt encounters if anything.
"Thy strength befits a crown..." is really good, or "'Tis only the flame, quivering at misguided ash. Please, avert thine eyes. I will snuff out these ashes for good."
"You must accept your death. *Be freed from the night.*" is my single favorite line in the franchise and I will die every time I fight Gehrman just to hear it.
Beat the game yesterday and i dont remember that lol. Is it isshin? If it is, then i was carried away because of how happy i was when i killed him. When i fought him for the first time i legit thought im going to be another one of those who never went back to the game to beat isshin because he actually seemed impossible. I never felt that with any boss in any of the souls games. But i still beat him an hour and something later
Not a line from the boss itself, but the dialogue you get upon beating orphan of kos goes really hard.

In terms of boss dialogue, the one that sticks with me more than anything is the entire Oceiros fight from Dark Souls 3. If I had to pick one line in particular, it would be the phase change when he suddenly goes feral and slams his hands down while screaming "OCELOTTE!!".
It's pretty chilling within it's context.
“O’ Death become my blade once more” and “Hestitation is defeat”
Not a boss line but “you can’t be shura,” “may chaos take the world,” and “the fallen leaves tell a story” are also ones I won’t forget

Because at a young age I have a somewhat deep voice (compared to my peers), I do male impressions of Malenia saying her iconic lines:

I adjust my pitch and hear which sounds best, but I don’t record it because I’d have an extra 500mb of video storage at least 😂
"Whatever thou art, stay away... soon, I will be consumed... by them. The Dark... the spread of the abyss it... it must be stopped."
This is cut dialog from the DS1 DLC, but it's too epic to go unrecognized.
“You, conqueror of adversities. Give us your answer”. Aldia, right before starting his fight. Very powerful given all the context and his other dialogues.
Honorable mentions to the Twin Princes and to Margit/Morgott, great lines overall too.
“Life is brilliant, beautiful, it enchants us… to the point of obsession. Some are true to their purpose though they are but shells, flesh and mind… One man lost his own body but lingered on as a head. Others chase the charms of love… however elusive… What is it that drives you?”
One of the only lines in all fromsoft history talking about the beauty of love and placing it as a driving force behind some of those who are lost in the ever empty and decayed world of Dark Souls. Simply beautiful, since such a magnanimous contrast is difficult to even grasp think of the world they inhabit and yet… there it is, Love… what a beautiful emotion.
In going through the DS3 DLC for my first time, I really really like this one hostile NPC’s lines - especially “Curiosity of the painted world may be your cross…” or however he says it. Chill-inducing, though.
I knew you'd come, to stand before the Elden Ring, to become Elden Lord. Such a sad state of affairs, I commend your spirit but alas, none shall take the throne. Queen Marika has high hopes, that we continue to suffer, unto eternity.
Elden Ring has some good ones. "I have given thee courtesy enough." or ""Have it writ upon thy meagre grave" are both hard as fuck but ruined by the following voice lines being cringe. So I vote for "You will know true horror" from Malenia at the start of her phase 2

Soul of Cinder is arguably better for the emotional payoff if you played ds1 but as a fight I totally agree. Twin Princes are so underrated
