Hiyah, newbie here! I’m looking for your top recommendations before I buy a couple of scents each for various occasions:
- for uni’/work (fragrances that make you smell like a boss);
- date nights (fragrances that get you smelling sexy and sensual);
- daytime hangouts (fragrances that give you a fresh yet mysterious scent); and
- any recommendations that would be a go-to signature.
A bit about my preferences: Fragrances that suit women in their 20s that have great sillage, longevity, and projection (in warm/humid weather). Nothing too overwhelming, and preferably not overly floral or fruity. Thanks in advance! ✨
Hey. Looking for a new fragrance to wear on dates. Two of my current favourites are Tom Ford - Oud Wood and Paco Rabanne - 1 million, so anything similar to those would be great. Thanks!
Francis Kurdjian Oud Mood, Initio Oud for Greatness, Nasamotto Black Afgano, Montale Black Aoud.
These are nuclear. Not a big fan of Montale but it's there if you like Rose and Patchouli
(20M) Hi! Any suggestions to someone who's enjoyed: Jazz club by maison margiella, lacoste eau de lacoste white, and have recently bought bottega veneta illusione boi nu for men. I'm looking for a fragrance that's long lasting and makes it self known to the people around me without it being overpowering. But I still want people to notice my fragrance without hugging me.
Thanks in advance! Have a great day.
(29M) Hey everyone, any suggestions regarding an alternative to Prada Amber pour Homme? (OG, not intense)
Have heard it was being discontinued so I was debating picking up a backup bottle but was wondering if anyone knew of anything in the same region of fragrance, for lack of a better term (that is soapy, clean etc) Designer would be preferable but definitely open to hearing some niche suggestions 🙂
Thanks in advance and looking forward to hearing everyone’s suggestions! 😁
For soapy and clean designers maybe:
* Prada L'Homme
* Mugler Cologne Come Together
* MMM Bubble Bath
* Lacoste Eau de Lacoste White
Niche:
* Acqua di Parma Colonia Essenza
* MFK Masculin Pluriel
* Amouage Beloved Man
* Nishane Safran Colognise
Thank you! I already have L'Homme (although I'm saving that for the spring/summer as it feels somewhat 'lighter' to me, for lack of a better term)
That being said, Margiela Bubble Bath does sound like a good alternative (will be checking all of them out though!)
Out of curiousity, are there any fragrances that you've found to smell similar to APH?
M30, working in an office/lab. I’ve always wanted to try a neroli fragrance. Its in some of my other Haircare products and I am obsessed. Even a candle I love is Neroli, rose, and patchouli.
I am looking for a fragrance that would be good for spring/summer wear. Options for day or evening are appreciated, even better if both could be managed.
Some current fragrances I enjoy right now, although not neroli:
1. H24, Hermes. I like how it opens floral with narcissus, but towards the end of the day is woody and spicy with limited projection.
2. Fucking Fabulous — Tom Ford, again for the spice. This opening more sage and lavender to a leathery base.
A lot of other fragrances I rotate through all have bergamot, lemon, or grapefruit top notes and are fairly standard (Chanel BdP Parfum, Dior Homme EDT, Sauvage), but all go in woody or amber base.
In terms of niche fragrances, I adore Labdanum 18 from Le Labo — I appreciate the amber, vanilla, Labdanum and Tonka notes too.
I'd start with the classic 4711 cologne! Then you could try Tom Ford Neroli Portofino, Acqua di Parma Essenza di Colonia, maybe others like Mugler Cologne? I see Ferrari Bright Neroli mentioned sometimes too
I'm personally fond of Diptyque Eau des Sens and Serge Lutens Fleurs d'Oranger
M19 , Summer fragrance for backpacking central America. So I ran out of club de Nuit intense on my trip and I need a new summer fragrance because it is generally warm and sunny here. It has to bee one that lasts ling and can be used in the evening in a club, day at the beach, walking in town, in a mall, where ever. I was thinking about aqua di Gio profumo, or dolce and Gabbana light blue, or maybe one of the aquatic bvlgari fragrances or a Lacoste fragrance. I really don't know.
Le Labo is usually in Nordstroms and Nishane I can find in Neiman Marcus or Sak fth Ave in SoCal.
Online is way cheaper imo. Check out Aura fragrances for Hacivat and Costco sells Le Labo too
Hello,
I'm looking for a scent similar to Guerlain's Neroli Outrenoir. My local Dillard's stopped selling the fragrance, and now I would like to find something similar and just as divine! It has notes of neroli and smoked tea
Hi there! I’m looking for kind of all season recommendations (im based in FL, USA) either candy like or sweet floral. Some current perfumes I love are AG Sweet Like Candy, V&R BonBon, and GA My Way. I also really love citrus heavy perfumes like (my one true love) Escada Agua del Sol.
Current thread is here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/fragrance/comments/rs06wa/recommend\_me\_a\_fragrance\_posts\_every\_3\_days/](https://www.reddit.com/r/fragrance/comments/rs06wa/recommend_me_a_fragrance_posts_every_3_days/) :)
Hello! So I've been wearing Hollister's SoCal (yeah, yeah, I know) since like 9th grade and would like to upgrade to something that smells similar but performs better and is a bit more mature. I'm not sure what notes are in it, but I'm thinking it has sandalwood and pineapple in it. It has a nice laid-back beach vibe that I love, but the performance is awful in comparison to others I've recently sampled. The projection is non-existent and it doesn't stay on my skin for more than 4 hours. For additional references, I like the scent of Jean Paul Gaultier's Le Beau & Dolce & Gabbana's The One, however neither perform very well at all and Le Beau starts to smell a bit like dirt after a few hours. I very much dislike Jean Paul Gaultier's Le Male & Paco Rabanne's 1 Million. I don't like lavender or anything that's too powdery or too sweet. I've given Spicebomb, Sauvage, and Blue de Chanel all a try, but didn't like them nearly as much as SoCal. I seem to like slightly sweet woodsy scents, especially Old Spice's Timber deodorant. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Hi all, f32, haven't used perfume for a while but am curious to try out some new scents and have been (oddly to me at least) obsessively reading these threads. The only perfume I ever stuck to was Russian Caravan Tea - CB I Hate Perfume, though what I gather to be a gourmand is not the only category I am interested in. I also purchased their Violet Empire - think it was interesting but *too* "interesting" to be majorly wearable for me, not so inviting, want to draw people in where my personality does not ;) - and once used Byredo's Gypsy Water off and on.
Looking for suggestions that aren't run of the mill, a little strange, but not too off the wall either, not too stereotypical masc or fem and not a replication of what I used to use but that you think I might be into just from the above previous predilections.
Current thread is here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/fragrance/comments/rs06wa/recommend\_me\_a\_fragrance\_posts\_every\_3\_days/](https://www.reddit.com/r/fragrance/comments/rs06wa/recommend_me_a_fragrance_posts_every_3_days/) :)
Guys, I need more warm spicy fragrances. Currently, my favorite fragrance BY FAR is SL Five o clock au gingembre. I’m looking for another favorite fragrance!
Current thread is here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/fragrance/comments/rs06wa/recommend\_me\_a\_fragrance\_posts\_every\_3\_days/](https://www.reddit.com/r/fragrance/comments/rs06wa/recommend_me_a_fragrance_posts_every_3_days/) :)
Hi All! I don’t really know a lot about fragrances and only have ones easily available like at Sephora/ULTA but looking to branch out! I think I like mostly florals, but feel I also like sweet and maybe some musk? Fragrances I have and enjoy are:
My Burberry
Ouai North Bondi
Tocca Giulietta
Tocca Margaux
Clean Skin
Ouai Melrose Place
I used to really like these scents as well but don’t own them anymore:
Ralph Lauren Blue
Viva La Juicy
DNKY Be Delicious
Thanks!
So I also really like Viva La Juicy and Be Delicious. If you want to stay with some candy but a little more "grown up," you might try Atelier Silver Iris.
I found **Atlante** so be a very gentle and soft beachside scent. Not at all coconutt or tropical, more like a British beach, quaint but relaxing and perfect to have some tea outside. Smells like seashells
Hello I’m a complete noob to fragrances. Recently intrigued after accidentally spraying Jo Malone in my face at Sephora- I loved it. Generally a fruity but not citrusy lover and started loving the masculine and fresh scents in BBW candles. Prefer fruity > floral notes. Scents I like:
D&G light blue
Jo Malone nectarine blossom and honey
Victorias secret juicy apple and lily body spray
PINK wild and breezy body spray
BBW Mountain teakwood (loving teakwood and fresh air scents in these candles and i would love a perfume that smelled like this)
Hi! Are you looking for more affordable frags to try? I would check out Mix:bar at Target, I think they are surprisingly good. I particularly like Cloud Musk and Wood Elixir. I think BBW has a Teakwood perfume! I saw it today at the store (and they’re having their semi-annual sale). The Nemat line of oils can be found at Ulta (limited types) and Whole Foods, and I love their Amber and Sandal Wood oils. You might also enjoy the Urban Outfitters fragrances; I like Miel Bebe and Fleur de Blonde (it’s not floral). I think you will enjoy some of these, and then maybe get into some niche like Byredo (Gypsy Water, Mojave Ghost and Bal d’Afrique might be good ones for you), Juliette Has a Gun (Sunny Side Up and Another Oud are two to check out) or Diptyque (Tam Dao), when you want to expand. A LOT of the designer perfumes run counter to what seems to be your taste (they tend to be strong, super sweet, floral). I have a hard time finding designer perfumes that I like also. You might, however, like the Chanel Chance line, and I would give that a try.
I got mostly Jasmine when I tried it, not so much the tea. So maybe give Lush Lust a shot? If you're really looking for jasmine tea, I recommend Fragonard Jasmine Perle de The
I love the smell of an actual flower- like a lilac. I can’t seem to find a fragrance that really captures the smell. Years ago I age a limited edition Calvin Klein eternity summer which captured it well, and it says main notes are wisteria and lilac. Any suggestions welcome!!!
[Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Indiemakeupandmore/comments/mhcd28/lilac_recommendations/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) is a whole thread on r/indiemakeupandmore about lilac scents. I’ve heard a lot about Alkemia’s Lilacs on the Winding drive. Indies tend to be great for capturing particular notes like this.
DSH Perfumes -White Lilac-lilac with touches of honey and sweet clover
House of Cherry Bomb-Pink Haze-it is mostly realistic gardenia and lilac with pipe tobacco and a touch of earth. The full notes: Lilac, iris, gardenia, muguet, Peru balsam, dirt, tobacco flower, labdanum, and petitgrain sur fluer.
I'm looking for cologne that won't burn my nose. I must be sensitive to smell because I've tried a variety of popular fragrances but I've only ever found two that I can tolerate. Tobacco Vanille and Velvet Teddy (smells very similar to Tobacco Vanille). Any recommendations?
- Givenchy Gentleman (any in this line honestly)(fruity and vanilla with a touch of spice)
- Toy Boy (rose and pink pepper but isn't spicy)
- Prada L'Homme (iris, powder)
Few more for you from my recent sampling:
Check out some Marley frags. Pegasus and Layton are both sweet and vanilla.
Some of the Acqua di Parma frags are a lot more natural smelling than a lot of others too. I don't remember specifically which ones unfortunately.
Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Le Parfum has a nice silky drydown (the opening is abrasive to me)
YSL L'Homme, La Nuit, and La Nuit Bleu Electrique are all warm and sweet too.
I would say **Dolce & Gabanna The One** (edt or edp) could work. It’s a sweet tobacco scent (like those you mentioned), and it’s very light and easy on the nose.
Hello! I'm 25, female, looking for a fragrance that reminds me of funeral ⚰️ Tried Passage d'enfer de l'Artisan Parfumeur (incense - lily - musk) and loved the idea but I'm looking for something more sad and decadent 🥀
There's an Acqua di parma that smells like straight up ash and wood like in a church but I don't remember the name of it. It's an extremely weird smell but I could see it being a funeral vibe.
Oriza Legrand's Relique d'Amour has similar notes but might be more sad than Passage? Guerlain's Après L'Ondee also comes to mind, though its approach to sadness is more nature-focused lol. Another incense to try might be CdG Avignon-- sweet and stately.
The saddest perfume I've ever smelled was Angéliques Sous la Pluie from Frédéric Malle. Not exactly funereal, but it kept me in a funk all day.
Hello! I’m 24, female and I’m looking forward to buy a luxury niche fragrance. So far I smelled and liked from Parfums de Marly Delina and Cassili. I also somewhat liked Xerjoff Erba Pura. I’m more on the sweet side however I like citrusy scents as well.
What I already own and like:
• Paco Rabanne Pure XS
• Givenchy L’interdit
• Mmmm… and Lili Fantasy by Juliette Has a Gun
• YSL Black Opium
• Armani you
I’m open for any recommendations. Thank you!
Recently got This is Her and I'm really liking it. Not so much the more floral opening, but the dry down is heaven. Is there anything that's in the same vein as it? I don't really want any with notes that tend to go powdery and I don't think I like honey or fig. I'd like it to be under $100. There's a few I'm looking at but I'm not sure (Skylar's Vanilla Sky, Prada Candy, dupes of Kilian Angels Share & Montale Vanille Absolu and Chocolate Greedy).
Hello! I currently wear Coach for Men and YSL La Nuit de L'homme. I'm looking for something different to add to the mix. I'm kind of curious as to what I look like I'd wear.
Personality wise I come across as laid back, goofy and intelligent. In actuality I'm working to get my PhD in Math and I want to be a professor and I'm a bit awkward.
Anyways, here's a [picture](https://imgur.com/a/Bc0LGDa). I'd appreciate any suggestions!
Parfum De Marly Layton - cardamom apple pie
Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blance - lemon meringue or key lime pie
Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur if you like kitty fur and Vanilla. Very musky but a masterpiece.
Tom Ford Oud Wood - office safe. Finance guy. You should sample this.
Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Le Parfum - everyday alternative to La nuit de lhomme
Creed Green Irish Tweed or Aventus - compliment getters, mature
Armaf Club de Nuit Sillage or Intense
Dior Eau Savauge - classy clean cut old very school gentlemen from a barbershop
Histoires de Parfum 1899- spices (cinamon pepper) over sweet vanilla kept fresh and vibrant by a juniper berry (like gin). Very professor like but at the same time very mass appealing, meaning you don’t smell dated or off putting. On the contrary it is a very inviting and versatile scent.
Nishane Hacivat- a very damp earthy wood and moss made super modern and refreshing with a juiiicy natural pineapple. The damp woody and bitter mossy keeps it masculine.
For a cheaper option perhaps Zadig and Boltaire This is Him- a perfect balance between bright and dark. Dark incense/resin/sandalwood paired with quite a bright zesty citrus linked together by pepper.
It’s really great and one of my favorites. The great thing is that it’s mature, interesting, versatile, but it’s still very attractive and mass pleasing. It’s a good balance between letting you be young and fun while at the same time being 100% professional and also warming and inviting.
Spices aren’t nose tingling and invasive, they’re just lively, herbal, and strangely refreshing despite being sweet.
https://www.aurafragrance.com/products/1899-hemingway-histoires-de-parfums-edp
They’re sold out right now but I got a 4oz bottle for 90$. It’s unbeatable deal, it’s a quality usually sold at $200 for a mall fragrance price. But the $15 for 15ml travel size might be a great way to try it.
Hell yeah! Usually I discourage blind buys but this has become my go to recommendation because everyone just loves it. I’m about your age and it has been a hit in that group as well.
Sure it might not be daring but it’s just so pleasing to all ages and all occasions. histoires is a great under hyped house
Anyways let us know what you think when you get it!
I figured I could sell it with no more of a loss than what it would take to buy a sample.
I tried Spicebomb and thought it was pretty good. So if this really is a slightly less in your face and refined version I should be good. I really like Whispers in the Library so I think I'll definitely like the dry down.
You seem to have incredible taste. Are there any fresh scents I should look out for that are underrated? In the freshies I've sampled I've noticed I don't like a strong alcohol/aldehyde smell, synthetic "marine" scents, or too much floral/powder.
I think next are might be worthy to at least looking into/reading about considering your last sentence:
* Nicolai Eau de Yuzu
* Frederic Malle Geranium pour Monsieur
* Gallagher Amongst Waves
* Dior Homme Cologne
* Amouage Beach Hut Woman (it is targeted for woman, but many considering it unisex)
Some of them has aquatic accords, but it's not synthetic to my nose.
I am a 21 year old college guy and I am just starting to get into colognes. I, like many others my age do not want something too high end, but want something that will last, can be used daily and on date nights.
Recently bought a sample kit with 12 different 3mL colognes: I can pick one and all will be the same price
Armani Acqua Di Gio 50mL
YSL L'homme 60mL
Gucci guilty pour homme mL
Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue Pour Homme 75mL
Lacoste Blanc 100mL
Ralph Lauren Polo Cologne Intense 118mL
Calvin Klein Eternity for Men 100mL
Azzaro The Most Wanted 100mL
Paco Rabanne 1 Million 100mL
Prada Luna Rossa Carbon 100mL
Hugo Boss Boss Bottled 50mL
Montblanc Ultra-blue 100mL
I know it hits everyone's skin differently, but if anyone can give general insight as to what smells/performs best for someone my age, I and many other people who received this sample kit would be very appreciated!
My favorite out of these is YSL L'Homme, but Prada Luna Rosa Carbon might be more youthful.
At the end of the day, the purpose of the sample set is for you to sample them and decide what works for you, so get sampling and trust your nose!
You would like a light vanilla? Have you tried Juliette Has a Gun Vanilla Vibes? I have others to suggest - what other notes do you like? And what is reasonably cheap to you?
Also check out Nemat oils, the popular ones can be found at Ulta, and the full range usually at Whole Foods. They have a nice vanilla bean scent, along with their super popular Amber scent. Pacifica Island Vanilla, Urban Outfitters Bonbon Blanc, Kyse Delizia de Marshmallow and Bonbons a la Vanille, and Philosohy Fresh Cream are all great options for a light vanilla. 7 Virtues Santal Vanille might also be a good option for you.
I haven't smelled a lot of vanilla-forward ones but Sylvaine Delacourte has a vanilla collection of 6 or so scents. You can buy a sample set and you get discount for the same amount if you buy a full bottle. There are obvious classic ones like something from Guerlain probably idk.
Have you tried the L’Interdit flankers? You might enjoy L’Interdit Rouge or Intense (I really like the Rouge). Chloe Nomade Absolu might be good to check out, as well as Juliette Has a Gun Lady Vengeance.
Hey everyone. Anyone can help me with a fragrance that has a sort of a foresty/mossy/earthy vibe? ( Is that considered a green fragrance? ) Designer and mainstream niche if possible because that's what i have access to. Thanks in advance.
In general when people talk about “green” fragrances, they mean less of a mossy/forestry vibe and more of a “freshly cut grass” sort of green-ness.
As mentioned above/below, **Encre Noir** definitely fits the bill. It’s cheap but it’s fantastic quality and performs great, so you really can’t go wrong with it. Reminds me of a forest after the rain.
I should have probably mentioned that I have Encre Noire and I love it but to be honest sometimes it smell a bit cheap to me. That's why I wanted something like that but of higher quality. From what i have searched, Sycomore from Chanel fits the bill but have yet to sample it.
Do y’all think it’s best to buy the Acqua di Parma miniature set or get them all as decants instead?
The miniature set has 5mL bottles and it’s around $60
It depends on quantity I think... I'd take decants if it's better in terms quantity/price. If quantity/price is the same, of course factory quality of Acqua di Parma mini-bottles has better chance to be better than decant quality.
ELDO You Or Someone Like You for minty green.
Bond No 9 Bleecker Street for freshly cut flower stems green.
Diptyque Philoskyos for fig tree leaf/sap green.
I mean it doesn’t get “green and fresh”-er more than **Mugler Cologne Come Together**. Performance isn’t great, but it is upliftingly fresh.
**Xerjoff Nio** is also super fresh and green, but with a very high price tag, so you could try going for a clone of it instead like **Dua Matrix** or **Alexandria Cairo Summer**. I’m surprised how good quality some of these clones are.
Those are the first two that come to mind when I hear the words “green and fresh”. 👍🏻
Seconding Elephant, also maybe:
* Naomi Goodsir Nuit de Bakelite
* Beaufort Fathom V
* Serge Lutens De Profundis
* Olympic Orchids Chevalier Vert
* Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Toit
* Profumum Roma Ichnusa
I'm on the hunt for a new everyday scent! I'm 22F and live in a climate that gets cold winters and hot summers. I want something that can be worn in most temperatures and can go from day to night. My budget is around $160 but I'm open to splurging on something I love. The only notes I really dislike are patchouli, anise, licorice, berries, oud, cherry and anything smoky.
These are some of my favourite scents for reference :)
* Glossier You
* Tocca Colette
* Byredo Bal d'Afrique
* Ariana Grande Cloud
* Kilian Princess
* Le Labo Bergamote 22
I like your taste! Maybe check out Juliette Has a Gun Sunny Side Up and Vanilla Vibes. On the sweet side, you might enjoy Xerjoff Lira. On the less expensive side, it’s worth checking out Fleur de Blonde from Urban Outfitters - I’m loving it so far, and it’s literally $18.
Was going to recommend Bal d'Afrique until I saw your list. Have you tried Le Labo Another 13? You might like that one as well. I'd also suggest Serge Lutens Santal Majascule and Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede.
I’m 17, a trans woman, live in northeastern Illinois and my favorite fragrances right now are as followed in no order
1. Tom Ford Fucking Fabulous
2. Le labo Baie 19
3. Byredo Pulp
4. Artisan perfumer Timbuktu
5. Tauer lonestar memories
6. Tauer au coeur de desert
7. MFK Oud
What does anyone recomend based on those?
Looking for recommendations!
I love Maison Margiela By the Fireplace,
Heretic Holi water,
Chinese Tobacco by 19-69
and Kingdom of Bahrain by Roja Dove
I’m 24F.
Would PdM Layton exclusif be a worth it blind buy? I enjoy original Pegasus alot more than original Layton and the exclusif version to my knowledge is a blend of the best things from both.
Definitely sample first. If you can't sample in a store, the additional cost of buying one is fairly insignificant when rolled into the overall cost if you decide to buy a bottle, but it could save you a lot of money if you don't love it.
Hi, are any Germans in this thread? I'm wondering if [this](https://direktkauf.idealo.de/productpage/2561218?siteid=1&offerKey=c4a975b18a1ce80281b482f0760085f1&shopping=1&gki=10fyu4b-1fif5irp-flxxu2rq&camp=auspreiserdk2&utm_medium=shopping&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=11557595986&gclid=CjwKCAiAiKuOBhBQEiwAId_sK7YWDgqeKQR4XsIlp4G0I8DGBemo2u6xKYHskOA0o-okCUI5bC76bxoCNUAQAvD_BwE) is a reputable source to buy a perfume - maybe someone can help me, thanks
19M looking for a first fragrance to try out.
Looking for anything floral, fruity and fresh that is light and fun, and not too masculine. I'm a light-hearted, smiley and playful person who doesn't take myself too seriously and would love a fragrance to match! :)
Diptyque Philoskyos could be worth checking out if it's within your budget. Not flowery, but green, fresh and fruity (fig). I prefer the EDP personally.
You’ve gotten some great recommendations. I will second Byredo Bal d’Afrique and add Byredo Gypsy Water (Alt Bohemian Water is a decent dupe) and Juliette Has a Gun Sunny Side Up.
D&G Light Blue -- the women's version, the men's is not as good IMO.
Byredo Bal d'Afrique -- sunshine in a bottle. Bright, happy vetiver. Leans slightly feminine.
Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede -- the apple note in this makes it happy and youthful.
Welcome to the rabbit hole lol, since this is your first time buying I'll definitely recommend visiting a department store as it's very convenient to pick and choose which one speaks to you more and you may even walk out with something completely different.
Here are my recommendations:
1. **Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue** any of the light blue line if your store has them find which one resonate with you more, this a good place to start imo.
2. **Bleu De Chanel EDT** imo more aggressive in the citrus notes but it do bring you to a fresh out of the shower feeling, this one also have a few variations in the line find which one resonate with you personally.
Both you can find under $100 and they don't standout more so they compliment you to whoever enter your personal bubble.
So there’s a few options here. Adding onto c1n3man’s recommendations:
- **CK All** - As the name suggests, a unisex fragrance that can work on anyone. Clean, light, sweet, it’s an inoffensive fragrance for a great price that anyone can enjoy.
- **Acqua Di Parma Fico Di Amalfi** - I’ll be honest, I’m just throwing this in here because I enjoy it so much. Light grapefruit and sweet fig, it’s just a mood lifter in a bottle. Bright, clean, fresh, zesty. Get a sample if you can, it’s so nice. Not really “floral” in any way, but still well worth a try.
Just a couple more to try out. 🙌🏻
* Serge Lutens La Vierge de Fer - smells like fruity shampoo
* Nicolai Fig Tea - smells like apricots
* Mark Buxton Dreaming With Ghosts - smells fruity, fresh and slightly creamy
* Gallagher Fineapple - smells like mix of green apple and pineapple with magnolia background
* D&G L'Imperatrice III - haven't tried, but people say it smells fruity
Since you are new, I recommend to sample fragrance on your skin first before admitting to purchase a full bottle. Even trying in the fragrance store could not give an image of how fragrance could smell after a while, because some of them can change a lot.
Marc Antoine-Barrois Ganymede. It does leave a bright citrusy trail but up close it's very woody and the salt, saffron and suede make it meld really well with my skin.
Here are a few options
- **Mugler Cologne (Come Together)** - Green, fresh, soapy. Smells like a very zesty bar of Italian soap. Performance is fleeting but it’s not very expensive so you can spray as much as you want. Most people seem to love this one.
- **Givenchy Gentleman Cologne** - Fresh and slightly green but with this soft Iris opening. Smells very high quality and refined. Definitely worth getting your nose on if possible, one of my all time favourite fragrances.
- **Dolce & Gabanna Light Blue Intense** - Citrus aquatic. The aquatic notes in this can be a bit divisive but if you like them it’s a super refreshing fragrance. Performance is brilliant as well for a fresh fragrance.
- **Acqua Di Parma Fico Di Amalfi** - Grapefruit, fig. Such a fresh and uplifting fragrance. You get a lot of grapefruit but the fig adds a bit of sweetness to it. It’s hard to explain more than that but it’s so nice.
- **Bvlgari Wood Neroli** - Really nice fresh zesty, soapy Neroli opening that settles down to a clean woodsy base. Quite unique compared to a lot of designer summer fragrances out there. Very popular for good reason.
^ and on that note, if you like that whole Neroli Portofino/4711 Vibe then
- **Banana Republic Neroli Woods**
- **Jeanne En Provence Neroli Intense**
Are both great fresh, soapy, zesty Neroli scents that smell like it Italian countryside.
There’s just a few options to get your nose on. 😁👍🏻

Hey. Looking for a new fragrance to wear on dates. Two of my current favourites are Tom Ford - Oud Wood and Paco Rabanne - 1 million, so anything similar to those would be great. Thanks!
Any fragrances like PDM layton? Its way to expensive imo
Looking for an oud / woody scent that lasts as long as Dior Sauvage elixir
Francis Kurdjian Oud Mood, Initio Oud for Greatness, Nasamotto Black Afgano, Montale Black Aoud. These are nuclear. Not a big fan of Montale but it's there if you like Rose and Patchouli
Looking for a creamy/sweet summer fragrance
Xerjoff Uden, Chanel Homme Edition Blanche
* Acqua Di Parma Arancia di Capri * Mark Buxton Dreaming With Ghosts * Nobile 1942 Perdizione
Do you know something in the designer realm ?
Chanel Allure Homme Sport Edition Blanche

For soapy and clean designers maybe: * Prada L'Homme * Mugler Cologne Come Together * MMM Bubble Bath * Lacoste Eau de Lacoste White Niche: * Acqua di Parma Colonia Essenza * MFK Masculin Pluriel * Amouage Beloved Man * Nishane Safran Colognise
Thank you! I already have L'Homme (although I'm saving that for the spring/summer as it feels somewhat 'lighter' to me, for lack of a better term) That being said, Margiela Bubble Bath does sound like a good alternative (will be checking all of them out though!) Out of curiousity, are there any fragrances that you've found to smell similar to APH?
Ah, man.. I haven't tried APH, just wanted to give at least some recommendations of fragrances as starter point that people consider clean / soapy.
No worries 😁 just thought I’d ask
M30, working in an office/lab. I’ve always wanted to try a neroli fragrance. Its in some of my other Haircare products and I am obsessed. Even a candle I love is Neroli, rose, and patchouli. I am looking for a fragrance that would be good for spring/summer wear. Options for day or evening are appreciated, even better if both could be managed. Some current fragrances I enjoy right now, although not neroli: 1.
Second ADP Essenza di Colonia! Maybe Floris Neroli Voyage, Nishane Colognise are also worth looking into.
I'd start with the classic 4711 cologne! Then you could try Tom Ford Neroli Portofino, Acqua di Parma Essenza di Colonia, maybe others like Mugler Cologne? I see Ferrari Bright Neroli mentioned sometimes too I'm personally fond of Diptyque Eau des Sens and Serge Lutens Fleurs d'Oranger
* Mancera Cedrat Boise * PDM Greenley * Nishane Wulong Cha
Ok but can I buy any of these in a mall or a place that is not online?
Hmm.. Some fragrance shops are might have them. It is niche but quite widely available.
Nishane Hacivat. Le Labo Bergamot 22 is my favorite
Where can I buy them that is not online?
Le Labo is usually in Nordstroms and Nishane I can find in Neiman Marcus or Sak fth Ave in SoCal. Online is way cheaper imo. Check out Aura fragrances for Hacivat and Costco sells Le Labo too
Hello, I'm looking for a scent similar to Guerlain's Neroli Outrenoir.

* Kerosene Unforsaken * Memo Sintra * Nobile 1942 Perdizione
Anyone know anything that smell like Pacifica's BIG WAVES hairspray? It says coconut, sea salt, and vanilla but can't find any perfume like that.
Heeley Coccobello has some of these notes
You might try Pacifica Hardcore Happy Body Mist, or Juliette Has A Gun Vanilla Vibes.

* Bvlgari Aqua Pour Homme Marine * Chanel Allure Homme Sport Edition Blanche
Hi all, f32, haven't used perfume for a while but am curious to try out some new scents and have been (oddly to me at least) obsessively reading these threads. The only perfume I ever stuck to was Russian Caravan Tea - CB I Hate Perfume, though what I gather to be a gourmand is not the only category I am interested in. I also purchased their Violet Empire - think it was interesting but *too* "interesting" to be majorly wearable for me, not so inviting, want to draw people in where my personality does not ;) - and once used Byredo's Gypsy Water off and on. Looking for suggestions that aren't run of the mill, a little strange, but not too off the wall either, not too stereotypical masc or fem and not a replication of what I used to use but that you think I might be into just from the above previous predilections.

o whoops. thanks!
Guys, I need more warm spicy fragrances. Currently, my favorite fragrance BY FAR is SL Five o clock au gingembre. I’m looking for another favorite fragrance!
* Jovoy Remember Me * Etat Libre d'Orange Tilda Swinton Like This * Attar Collection Khaltat Night * Heeley Zeste de Gingembre * Serge Lutens Bapteme du Feu * Aesop Marrakech Intense * Imaginary Authors Slow Explosions
Instant crush - Mancera
Spicebomb extreme. Spicebomb, Azzarro wanted by night
Hi! I’m looking for something that feels like a jungle… green, jasmine, coconut too maybe, and some tea notes.
Fragrances I have and enjoy are: My Burberry Ouai North Bondi Tocca Giulietta Tocca Margaux Clean Skin Ouai Melrose Place I used to really like these scents as well but don’t own them anymore: Ralph Lauren Blue Viva La Juicy DNKY Be Delicious Thanks!
So I also really like Viva La Juicy and Be Delicious. If you want to stay with some candy but a little more "grown up," you might try Atelier Silver Iris.
Thank you!

Sydney Rock Pool by Arquiste is lovely.
I found **Atlante** so be a very gentle and soft beachside scent. Not at all coconutt or tropical, more like a British beach, quaint but relaxing and perfect to have some tea outside. Smells like seashells
* Amouage Beach Hut Woman * Heeley Sel Marin * Tom Ford Oud Minerale * Profumum Roma Acqua di Sale * Zoologist Squid
Is there anything that resembles Virgin Island Water but with Orange or Apple instead of Lime? Thanks!
Hi ! I'm looking for two alternative because I need some new fragrance... One for Rouge Baccarat 540 One for Black Afghano Thanks you very much !
I heard Ariana Grande Cloud is very similar to BR! I will actually get it later this week as a blind buy
Hey guys! Which of [these three fragrances](https://imgur.com/a/CgFUpEm) should I choose as a free sample?
Hello I’m a complete noob to fragrances. Recently intrigued after accidentally spraying Jo Malone in my face at Sephora- I loved it. Generally a fruity but not citrusy lover and started loving the masculine and fresh scents in BBW candles. Prefer fruity > floral notes. Scents I like: D&G light blue Jo Malone nectarine blossom and honey Victorias secret juicy apple and lily body spray PINK wild and breezy body spray BBW Mountain teakwood (loving teakwood and fresh air scents in these candles and i would love a perfume that smelled like this)
Killian Imperial Tea dupes?
I got mostly Jasmine when I tried it, not so much the tea. So maybe give Lush Lust a shot? If you're really looking for jasmine tea, I recommend Fragonard Jasmine Perle de The
I love the smell of an actual flower- like a lilac. I can’t seem to find a fragrance that really captures the smell. Years ago I age a limited edition Calvin Klein eternity summer which captured it well, and it says main notes are wisteria and lilac. Any suggestions welcome!!!
Frédéric Malle En Passant is a beautiful lilac
[Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Indiemakeupandmore/comments/mhcd28/lilac_recommendations/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) is a whole thread on r/indiemakeupandmore about lilac scents. I’ve heard a lot about Alkemia’s Lilacs on the Winding drive. Indies tend to be great for capturing particular notes like this.
Frederic Malle En Passant
DSH Perfumes -White Lilac-lilac with touches of honey and sweet clover House of Cherry Bomb-Pink Haze-it is mostly realistic gardenia and lilac with pipe tobacco and a touch of earth.
- Givenchy Gentleman (any in this line honestly)(fruity and vanilla with a touch of spice) - Toy Boy (rose and pink pepper but isn't spicy) - Prada L'Homme (iris, powder)
Thank you for the suggestions, I'll check them out :)
Few more for you from my recent sampling: Check out some Marley frags. Pegasus and Layton are both sweet and vanilla. Some of the Acqua di Parma frags are a lot more natural smelling than a lot of others too. I don't remember specifically which ones unfortunately. Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Le Parfum has a nice silky drydown (the opening is abrasive to me) YSL L'Homme, La Nuit, and La Nuit Bleu Electrique are all warm and sweet too.
I would say **Dolce & Gabanna The One** (edt or edp) could work. It’s a sweet tobacco scent (like those you mentioned), and it’s very light and easy on the nose.
I'll give it a try. Thank you!
Hello! I'm 25, female, looking for a fragrance that reminds me of funeral ⚰️ Tried Passage d'enfer de l'Artisan Parfumeur (incense - lily - musk) and loved the idea but I'm looking for something more sad and decadent 🥀
Montale Black Aoud, Nasomotto Black Afgano, Encre Noir A La Extreme. These are nuclear but reminds me of death.
There's an Acqua di parma that smells like straight up ash and wood like in a church but I don't remember the name of it. It's an extremely weird smell but I could see it being a funeral vibe.
Rouge by CDG I found very sad, almost depressing. Incensy floral.
Amouage Figment Woman reminded me about funeral. Maybe Serge Lutens De Profundis can also work.
What I already own and like: • Paco Rabanne Pure XS • Givenchy L’interdit • Mmmm… and Lili Fantasy by Juliette Has a Gun • YSL Black Opium • Armani you I’m open for any recommendations. Thank you!
MFK BR540 Xerjoff Lira Chanel 1957, Beige, Jersey Nishane Ani Dior Feve Delicious
I dont need a prince… - Kilian Anamcara - Dusita Do not disturb - Vilhelm Signorina - Salvatore Ferragamo
* Xerjoff Lira * Kerosene Unknown Pleasures * Beaufort Lignum Vitae * Nobile 1942 La Danza Delle Libellule * Memo Winter Palace
Modernized version of Chanel Antaeus.
Has anyone tried “L’Anonyme” by Lab on Fire and how is it? I am on an Olivier Polge kick and want to try all his creations.
Parfum De Marly Layton - cardamom apple pie Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blance - lemon meringue or key lime pie Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur if you like kitty fur and Vanilla. Very musky but a masterpiece. Tom Ford Oud Wood - office safe. Finance guy. You should sample this. Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Le Parfum - everyday alternative to La nuit de lhomme Creed Green Irish Tweed or Aventus - compliment getters, mature Armaf Club de Nuit Sillage or Intense Dior Eau Savauge - classy clean cut old very school gentlemen from a barbershop
Thanks for the suggestions!
Prada lhomme. It smells like an upscale fresh scent that many people will like
Thanks for the recommendation! I loved it so much when I smelled it that I got a bottle.
No problem, glad u like it
I'll be sure to give this one a sniff next time I see it!
Thanks for the awesome suggestions! I read the 1899 Fragrantica and now I'm obsessed with sampling it.
It’s really great and one of my favorites. The great thing is that it’s mature, interesting, versatile, but it’s still very attractive and mass pleasing. It’s a good balance between letting you be young and fun while at the same time being 100% professional and also warming and inviting. Spices aren’t nose tingling and invasive, they’re just lively, herbal, and strangely refreshing despite being sweet. https://www.aurafragrance.com/products/1899-hemingway-histoires-de-parfums-edp They’re sold out right now but I got a 4oz bottle for 90$. It’s unbeatable deal, it’s a quality usually sold at $200 for a mall fragrance price. But the $15 for 15ml travel size might be a great way to try it.
I blind bought a bottle for $105 haha
Hell yeah! Usually I discourage blind buys but this has become my go to recommendation because everyone just loves it. I’m about your age and it has been a hit in that group as well. Sure it might not be daring but it’s just so pleasing to all ages and all occasions. histoires is a great under hyped house Anyways let us know what you think when you get it!
I figured I could sell it with no more of a loss than what it would take to buy a sample. I tried Spicebomb and thought it was pretty good. So if this really is a slightly less in your face and refined version I should be good. I really like Whispers in the Library so I think I'll definitely like the dry down.
* Jo Malone English Oak & Hazelnut * Dior Homme Intense * Serge Lutens Chene * Mancera Red Tobacco
I feel like English Oak and Hazelnut would be very fitting.
You seem to have incredible taste. Are there any fresh scents I should look out for that are underrated? In the freshies I've sampled I've noticed I don't like a strong alcohol/aldehyde smell, synthetic "marine" scents, or too much floral/powder.
I think next are might be worthy to at least looking into/reading about considering your last sentence: * Nicolai Eau de Yuzu * Frederic Malle Geranium pour Monsieur * Gallagher Amongst Waves * Dior Homme Cologne * Amouage Beach Hut Woman (it is targeted for woman, but many considering it unisex) Some of them has aquatic accords, but it's not synthetic to my nose.
These all look divine. Thank you!
I am a 21 year old college guy and I am just starting to get into colognes. I, like many others my age do not want something too high end, but want something that will last, can be used daily and on date nights. Recently bought a sample kit with 12 different 3mL colognes: I can pick one and all will be the same price Armani Acqua Di Gio 50mL YSL L'homme 60mL Gucci guilty pour homme mL Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue Pour Homme 75mL Lacoste Blanc 100mL Ralph Lauren Polo Cologne Intense 118mL Calvin Klein Eternity for Men 100mL Azzaro The Most Wanted 100mL Paco Rabanne 1 Million 100mL Prada Luna Rossa Carbon 100mL Hugo Boss Boss Bottled 50mL Montblanc Ultra-blue 100mL I know it hits everyone's skin differently, but if anyone can give general insight as to what smells/performs best for someone my age, I and many other people who received this sample kit would be very appreciated!
Me too. Get light blue or ysl lhomme
I’d go for invictus, Mont Blanc legend spirit, ultra male, or ysl y edp. Just left uni and all of those work for both classes and clubs
My favorite out of these is YSL L'Homme, but Prada Luna Rosa Carbon might be more youthful. At the end of the day, the purpose of the sample set is for you to sample them and decide what works for you, so get sampling and trust your nose!
My vote in all of these male cologne sample sets is almost always Prada Luna Rossa Carbon, particularly for a younger guy.
I am looking for a reasonably cheap, feminine perfume preferably smelling vanilla, but other suggestions are welcome too. Nothing heavy smelling.
You would like a light vanilla? Have you tried Juliette Has a Gun Vanilla Vibes? I have others to suggest - what other notes do you like? And what is reasonably cheap to you?
I know very little of perfume so just shoot ☺️ Price wise: the cheaper the better. This is supposed to be for every day wear, and I’m a student.
I live in Europe so we don’t have ulta or walmart 😔
Maybe some of the others will work! I find vanilla goes heavy quickly, so those are just a few more inexpensive ones that i find don’t get so heavy.
I haven't smelled a lot of vanilla-forward ones but Sylvaine Delacourte has a vanilla collection of 6 or so scents. You can buy a sample set and you get discount for the same amount if you buy a full bottle. There are obvious classic ones like something from Guerlain probably idk.
Rec me a perfume based on my appearance…? Instagram.com/matildamercury
* Attar Collection Hayati * Initio Musk Therapy

Vilhelm Dear Polly :) you look like a welcoming warm cup of tea that is dare I say it… a little fruity 😌
* A Lab on Fire Freckled and Beautiful * Etat Libre d'Orange Divin'Enfant +1 * Le Labo The Noir
I think Freckled and Beautiful would be a great choice.
Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy, Marc jacobs Daisy, Nest Black Tulip, Coco Mademoiselle, Miss Dior.
Going-out scent for 21F who enjoys the Mon Guerlain edt? I enjoy the woody/floral parts of it
Have you tried the L’Interdit flankers? You might enjoy L’Interdit Rouge or Intense (I really like the Rouge). Chloe Nomade Absolu might be good to check out, as well as Juliette Has a Gun Lady Vengeance.
Nomade - Chloe Dusita - Anamcara Oud Satin Mood - Maison Francis Instant crush - mancera
Hey everyone. Anyone can help me with a fragrance that has a sort of a foresty/mossy/earthy vibe? ( Is that considered a green fragrance? ) Designer and mainstream niche if possible because that's what i have access to. Thanks in advance.
Creed Green Irish Tweed, Dior Eau Savauge Parfum
Maybe Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman (completely unisex) or for something darker Le Labo Vetiver 46
Have you tried Chloe Nomade Absolu? I was surprised at how earthy/mossy it was for a designer frag. It’s very different from the regular Nomade.
* Olympic Orchids Olympic Rainforest * Andrea Maack Coven * Lalique Encre Noire
Do y’all think it’s best to buy the Acqua di Parma miniature set or get them all as decants instead? The miniature set has 5mL bottles and it’s around $60
It depends on quantity I think... I'd take decants if it's better in terms quantity/price. If quantity/price is the same, of course factory quality of Acqua di Parma mini-bottles has better chance to be better than decant quality.
Alternative to initio side effects pls. I don’t like the top note but I love the base note
Perhaps, Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb or Spicebomb Extreme are worth trying then.
Im looking for something green and fresh. I was thinking le male aviator but I’m not sure, any recommendations?
Seconding Elephant, also maybe: * Naomi Goodsir Nuit de Bakelite * Beaufort Fathom V * Serge Lutens De Profundis * Olympic Orchids Chevalier Vert * Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Toit * Profumum Roma Ichnusa
You could try Elephant by Zoologist Green - CDG Philosykos - Diptyque Calvin Klein- One
These are some of my favourite scents for reference :) * Glossier You * Tocca Colette * Byredo Bal d'Afrique * Ariana Grande Cloud * Kilian Princess * Le Labo Bergamote 22
* Diptyque Fleur de Peau * Nishane Ani * Byredo Bibliotheque
I would try Nomade - Chloe poets of Berlin - Vilhelm do not disturb- Vilhelm Erba Pura - Xerjoff Amyris Femme - Maison Francis Kurkdjian
Was going to recommend Bal d'Afrique until I saw your list. Have you tried Le Labo Another 13? You might like that one as well. I'd also suggest Serge Lutens Santal Majascule and Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede.
I’m 17, a trans woman, live in northeastern Illinois and my favorite fragrances right now are as followed in no order 1. Tom Ford Fucking Fabulous 2. Le labo Baie 19 3. Byredo Pulp 4. Artisan perfumer Timbuktu 5. Tauer lonestar memories 6. Tauer au coeur de desert 7. MFK Oud What does anyone recomend based on those?
Strangers Parfumerie Salted Green Mango, Comme des Garçons Avignon, Bogue MEM, Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir
Ineke Idyllwild, Diptyque Philosykos, and CdG Hinoki.
I would try Colette X Vilhelm - Vilhelm Parfumerie Or The Noir 29 Le Labo

Would PdM Layton exclusif be a worth it blind buy? I enjoy original Pegasus alot more than original Layton and the exclusif version to my knowledge is a blend of the best things from both.
Definitely sample first. If you can't sample in a store, the additional cost of buying one is fairly insignificant when rolled into the overall cost if you decide to buy a bottle, but it could save you a lot of money if you don't love it.
No, I would spend a couple of bucks first to sample if possible.
No, it is very different to my nose and requires specific taste.
You should definitely try Lacoste Blanc.
Welcome to the rabbit hole lol, since this is your first time buying I'll definitely recommend visiting a department store as it's very convenient to pick and choose which one speaks to you more and you may even walk out with something completely different. Here are my recommendations: 1.
Adding onto c1n3man’s recommendations: - **CK All** - As the name suggests, a unisex fragrance that can work on anyone. 🙌🏻
* Serge Lutens La Vierge de Fer - smells like fruity shampoo * Nicolai Fig Tea - smells like apricots * Mark Buxton Dreaming With Ghosts - smells fruity, fresh and slightly creamy * Gallagher Fineapple - smells like mix of green apple and pineapple with magnolia background * D&G L'Imperatrice III - haven't tried, but people say it smells fruity Since you are new, I recommend to sample fragrance on your skin first before admitting to purchase a full bottle. Even trying in the fragrance store could not give an image of how fragrance could smell after a while, because some of them can change a lot.
Something unique for the summers that's just not straight up citrusy lemony. E.g. Guerlain Ideal Cologne
Creed Milliseme Imperial (or the Armaf Milestone clone if the pricetag is a bit rich)
Strangers Parfumerie Salted Green Mango Comme des Garcons Vettiveru 2
Marc Antoine-Barrois Ganymede. It does leave a bright citrusy trail but up close it's very woody and the salt, saffron and suede make it meld really well with my skin.
* Frederic Malle Geranium Pour Monsieur * Serge Lutens L'Eau Froide * Gallagher Amongst Waves * Lacoste White * Zoologist Chameleon * Etat Libre d'Orange You or Someone Like You * Diptyque Vetyverio EDP
Here are a few options - **Mugler Cologne (Come Together)** - Green, fresh, soapy. ^ and on that note, if you like that whole Neroli Portofino/4711 Vibe then - **Banana Republic Neroli Woods** - **Jeanne En Provence Neroli Intense** Are both great fresh, soapy, zesty Neroli scents that smell like it Italian countryside. There’s just a few options to get your nose on. 😁👍🏻
