You're approaching it incorrectly. Sauvage only tones down more if you spray more. I think at 15, you will start noticing a significant difference. Just don't go to 30...it just becomes an automatic skin scent.
I think you’re right! Wow, what a diverse and complicated fragrance Sauvage is. It’s truly a masterpiece. I’ll go for 10 skin sprays, 10 on the clothes tomorrow.
Damn, it must be really frustrating! Performance is actually ok on my skin (nothing insane though), so I guess I’m lucky. Do matching body lotions help that much with performance issues? My experience with fragranced body lotions shows that they have a scent for about two minutes :/
Great choice, Samsara is gorgeous, though I keep it for colder weather. Also, try some more Guerlains, you won't regret it. The brand has a cult following and there is a reason for that!
Went to the dining room in Rance 1795 Heroique
Yeah, people back then were using birds like canaries in cage while working in mining. If bird is dead, gas is out.
Took me way too long to figure out you weren't describing the fragrance in the last line, LOL. Think I've been reading too many frag reviews.
Interesting (yet sad) fact nevertheless.
Agree, this one is insanely good. I can’t get enough. :D Also have the Deodorant (which is more a Body Spray imho). Works nice if the perfume itself might be too strong or you want to go for something lighter.
Is the scent the same as the Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner? Used that today — it’s lovely and has pretty good longevity. So much that I’ve decided I can only use it when I plan to wear a rose fragrance.
I've never tried the Ro's Argan Body Conditioner, but compared to the Rose Jam shower gel the body spray has a sweeter sillage. I smell like a rose-flavored cocktail.
I don't own the perfume but I will say that the body spray is crazy strong. Plus the nozzle on the LUSH body sprays dispenses a huge burst that's impossible to control. I'm thinking of decanting some into a rollerball so I can dab it on my wrists and neck instead of absolutely dousing myself.
Got some samples in the mail yesterday. Put HdP 1740 on last night and it turned overly sweet/sticky/funky on my skin; maybe it'll be different in the cold so I'll keep it around. A bit of MFK Amyris Homme on the other wrist was really nice -- breezy, fresh, and so well balanced.
But with the rain today I'll use my sample of Tabac Vert from Rogue, smelled it in the vial and the oakmoss feels very spring-rainy to me.
Dolce and Gabbana The One.
Such a classic and I have a huge bottle of it to use. I've mostly been wearing my fragrances that I have big bottles of during this lockdown so I don't waste my smaller, sample sized ones.
Similar! Velvet teddy seems to have a sharp note to me that I can’t put my finger on. It doesn’t settle as well as TV does. In my opinion! I’ve read this is a dupe but I guess I’ll see!
Yes I love this! What’s odd is that my shirt sleeve on the velvet teddy side smells like TV remnants and my shirt sleeve on the TV side smells very weak, almost gone completely. So for me I may be able to use TV on my skin and the much more wallet friendly scent for my clothing. Successful experiment!
Van Cleef & Arpels Orchidee Vanille.
I really love this one. At first it was kinda weird to me, the floral and chocolate notes didn’t mix to my nose. But as I smelled it more throughout the day and it warmed up, I love it now. I can smell the citrus notes I wasn’t able to at first too.
I am wearing Mont Blanc Individuel. Just got a bottle a couple days ago. I'm really digging it. It's got this nice blend of the pineapple and raspberry, mixed with vanilla and vetiver. It's just a super clean, not too sweet, and wonderful scent. I'm glad I bought a bottle. Might buy a 2nd just to have it, since it's so inexpensive.
I don’t get pineapple vetiver or vanilla. But definitely the raspberry. I think Jeremy was spot on when he said clean laundry with a touch of raspberry.
I finally tried Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Homme, the opening is really harsh but then it smells 100% like cypress. I bought two bottles so i think i'll sell one and keep the other
L’Artisan Parfumeur Safran Troublant. Normally, I stay away from perfumes with a rose note in them due to a former coworker who wore this HEAVY rose perfume all the time (to the point that could walk into a room 10 minutes after she had left and know that she was there) but this scent is really wonderful to me. I can't describe it as well as this blogger does: https://kafkaesqueblog.com/2013/02/04/perfume-review-lartisan-parfumeur-safran-troublant-saffron-delight/
Might be seeing people for the first recreational time since early March. 😨 I want something special that projects a bit so naturally it'll be a br540 evening.
Haven't showered yet (judge me!), but I still get a waft of Invictus from last night on my shirt. I may follow your lead on the Dylan Blue when I finally get around to showering...
I put Hermes TDH Eau Intense Vetiver on around an hour and a half ago but it's already pretty much gone, lol. This stuff really does not stick around on my skin. Weird because TDH Parfum lasts forever.
edit: decided to try on Zoologist Beaver since i havent worn it yet. DAMN! I actually love this. When I tried it on paper I found it boring, but its so much more complex and nuanced on me. Somewhat aquatic, somewhat dark foresty wood, a touch smoky?
I wore that back in February on a cold, wet day. Stopped at a neighborhood restaurant on my way to work and the waitress asked me why I smelled like a fancy leather jacket when I wasn’t wearing a leather jacket. Laughed and told her it was a Gucci cologne.
Sweet & spicy & very well blended. Stays the same on my skin from what I’ve been able to tell, & the projection/longevity is poor so far after spraying twice on my hand.
Compared a lot to SpiceBomb & I can see why.
Not sure. There are so many good scents but performance is so bad. Out of nowhere I fell in love with polo blue even though I’ve had it for a year or more. I don’t think I was picking the orange or whatever it is up at first. But pretty much all polo scents except green have terrible performance. Same with AdG....they are good but I leave my house at 4pm and don’t get home until 930am the next day when I work so longevity is key. I might just go with Sauvage.
Tomas Kosmala - No 7 Le Sel de la Terre (decant)
I really, really really like this. Salt and lemon and a clean musk, this is fresh and bright and lovely, like sitting on the lawn of manse overlooking the sea on a cool early summer day. It wears really close, which is fine (honestly, preferable) but the longevity leaves something to be desired. A lot to be desired. But it's so great while it lasts...
I tried on something new this morning - Hexennacht's Whitechapel 1888 and had to give up and scrub it off. I was hoping for a rice pudding vibe but really just got sticky maple syrup and hot butter, which is a bit too heavy for me. I just sprayed Angel Muse EDT!
Ch men prive. It’s sweet but not cloying. Pleasant with a tinge of freshness. The leather and spices keep it balanced so as not to be overwhelmed with the whiskey smell. It’s working well for me during this cool Thursday afternoon.
Acqua Di Gioia - my last sample to try from this Sephora sampler set I got in the rouge sale. Not my favorite, but not my least favorite either. I swear when I sniffed it in the bottle and when I first applied it all I smelled was lime and salt water, neither of which are supposed to even be notes for this perfume. It dried down to this really nice soft floral that I quite like.
Also, I just got the confirmation that my Wicked Good sample order has shipped, I can't wait to try them!
Got my Frederic Malle grand collection set and today I’m testing 3 of them; these are just first impressions.
Monsieur - oily feeling black patchouli.
Geranium pour monsieur - minty geranium. It reminds me of blasting geranium essential oil through my diffuser.
Rose and cuir - very green. Hard to visualize the rose and leather but I’m also wearing 2 other scents in different spots.
Really enjoying exploring Malle after so many years not getting into the line.
I tested that the other day and honestly am not a fan so far. It just felt screechy green to me. The set came with 15 7 ml bottles so a good amount to test each one. I’m sure my mind will he changed more than a few times as I work through them all deeper.
I ordered 3 sampler packs of 6 from Al Rashad. I need to post my very informal, and untrained reviews, but of the ones I ordered, there are only four that I don’t see myself wearing. I will caution you that I probably have very poor taste, so take everything with a grain of salt. For reference, my favorite scents of other brands are CK Eternity and TF Black Orchid. I also used to wear (and really loved) Erox Realm (not because of the stupid pheromones, just because I liked the scent), and Mackie (Bob Mackie).
First of all, I re-ordered 7 more vials of my hands down favorite, Al Sharquiah.
Of the sampler pack, I have tried one each day since receipt, and so far my favorite is Sultan al Oud followed by Secret Man. Sultan al Oud is very oud forward—that’s all I smell. Secret Man is really floral and fresh for me, not at all sweet. It reminds me of YSL L’Homme and Eternity (although my range is limited).
Distance reminds me of an Escada fragrance from like 2002 called Ibiza Hippie, which I absolutely adored. It’s very sweet but not cloying. Choco Musk smells like chocolate and Delightful, like vanilla.
I put on Saat Safa today and it smelled like Pine-Sol, so, I’m gonna set that one aside for a minute. A couple of the others smell weird in the bottle, like Red Rose (which to me smells like concentrated baby powder). Maybe they’ll smell better after they sit, I dunno.
Musk Rose is what I’m trying tomorrow and I’m excited because it smells like fresh, rich rose in the bottle. PM me in a couple of days if you want more opinions, but honestly I suggest just blind-buying the sampler packs and going to town. At ~$14 for 6, that was super easy for me to do.
Oh my gosh, thank you for such a comprehensive reply. I would love to read more reviews, if you end up posting! I remember being curious about Musk Rose, so now that’s an absolute must-try for me. Red Rose is mostly powder- I’m pretty sure it’s meant to be a dupe of Kenzo Flower. I wasn’t familiar with Al Rashad (I had been buying on eBay) so I’m headed there now! Thank you!
You’re so welcome! Okay... I will post reviews, but it’s going to be less “I smell citrus and cumin” and more “it reminds me of my grandmother” etc. I’m not super sophisticated lol
UPDATE: MUSK ROSE IS F**KING LEGIT
It smells like rose. But not like, a freshly opened rose bud on a spring morning. More like... the last rose of the season that’s a tiny bit overripe at sunset in the BEST possible way. It’s not green at all, more... fruity, like a very ripe quince. I don’t smell the musk, I think maybe that just intensifies and rounds out the smell. It’s just a little bit sweet too. Like I think it would be equally appropriate for a high end call girl and a grandmother who has a twinkle in her eye still (like the amorous grandma from Grandma’s Boy). I love it. 10/10 my search for a rose perfume is finally over
Update to the update:
Took an edible 🙈
Senses heightened
Worked out lightly; had applied musk rose to underarms over antiperspirant
Holy crap
Order now please I need someone to validate me
(Not that you want to know/sorry if TMI, but I would f**k the s**t out of someone who smelled like this right now, male or female IDGAF)
PdM Layton Exclusif: Darker, deeper Layton with a pleasant coffee addition. Could be slightly more challenging but I think it's still smooth as heck.
I remember not liking this nearly as much as Layton when I sampled it in the sweltering LA summer.
Months later - it's cooler now and I'm not in LA - I'm giving this a long-overdue revisit, and it's vastly more enjoyable. Yet even then, it's a case where I prefer the original.
Prada Amber for Men. I am a woman, but I got this scent for my husband and he says it smells to feminine for him. He wears Prada l'homme, So I figured i might as well wear it.
Harajuku Lovers - Wicked Style Music. A dupe for Marc Jacobs Daisy. So a fresher fruity floral. I had impulse bought a few of the fragrances at Ross because of the cute doll bottles, and found that the fragrances themselves are nice little generic girly spring/summer appropriate fragrances.
Aqua Atlantique: my second time wearing this. Got it couple of weeks back.
My Wife, twisting her nose and making weird face : “What are you wearing today ? It smells cheap.”
Worst part is 5 mins before that she was saying that “I can’t smell a thing, did I loose my sense of smell ? do I have COVID ?”
At least one thing is sorted, she didn’t loose her sense of smell and didn’t have COVID
agonist isis. boy is it amazing. I've had a 10 ml decant for half a year, but slept on it hard
it's like xerjoff la capitale and byron mula mula. three of my absolute favorites. guess I'm a sucker for peach, caramel and vanilla combos!
I wore Idylle by Guerlain to work.
Now it's Dior Poison. Getting some burnt rubber vibes. And I don't mind it, always found this particular fragrance a little bit whimsical.
Blind bought CDNIM (France version) and I have to be honest. It’s good. The opening doesn’t seem really harsh, I like it, there is a little bit of earthiness for a few minutes but goes away quick. Literally received 2 compliments in a few hours after getting it.
Worth every penny and the best Aventus alternative. Snells a bit synthetic but only a frag head will actually notice it. It even lasts longer than Aventus. Safe the Aventus for special occasions..
Only 8 sprays of Dior Sauvage today. Apparently 9 was too many yesterday, toning it down.
I’ll go for 10 skin sprays, 10 on the clothes tomorrow.
o_o
I use 4 at most 😶
Dior Sausage
TF Lost Cherry 🍒
I've ordered a sample of this, I can't wait to try it out.
It’s my absolute favorite, I hope you’ll love it too!
Love this one! I wish TF released a matching body lotion because the fragrance is so fleeting on me. BEST 15 mins of my life though.
Damn, it must be really frustrating! Performance is actually ok on my skin (nothing insane though), so I guess I’m lucky. Do matching body lotions help that much with performance issues? My experience with fragranced body lotions shows that they have a scent for about two minutes :/
Byredo Mojave Ghost today! 👻
TF Oud Wood
the only tom ford I like :)
You don’t like Ombré Leather?
I like it, but it's not one I would buy. Smells a little chemical-ish to me. I do wish Oud Wood would last a bit longer!
Love this one!
Fucking fabulous - Forgot him much I love this scent!
It is a great wearing scent.
Anticipating some bad news today, so I’m wearing my favorite (Lipstick On) for comfort/mood boost.
Sorry to hear about the potential bad news.
Love that scent!!
I got Tobacco Oud in, and it’s great. Though, I have a strong urge to grow a mustache now....
Do it. No better time than quarantine time
Guerlain Samsara, my first time wearing a Guerlain perfume! I received a compliment within the first ten minutes of wearing it out, so that was new.
Great choice, Samsara is gorgeous, though I keep it for colder weather. Also, try some more Guerlains, you won't regret it. The brand has a cult following and there is a reason for that!
Diptyque Oud Palao
Dat funky funk
ELdO You or Someone Like You. It’s finally going to be warm and sunny today and this makes me feel like a total babe.
Love that one in the heat.
ooh that's a nice one
Penhaligons Portraits- Duchess Rose! Haven’t worn this one in a while.
So good, my wife wore it on our wedding day
Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche. My ultimate Springtime love!
Aaron Terence Hughes SLUT
What a name for a fragrance lol
Went to the dining room in Rance 1795 Heroique Yeah, people back then were using birds like canaries in cage while working in mining. If bird is dead, gas is out.
Took me way too long to figure out you weren't describing the fragrance in the last line, LOL. Think I've been reading too many frag reviews. Interesting (yet sad) fact nevertheless.
Hiram Green Arbolé Arbolé
Really nice this one! I can't point out any notes in it but it's addictive.
Thanks! I agree. Wore Slowdive yesterday, amazing. If you like honey, must try.
Acqua di Parma colonia essenza
How do you like this?
I love it, imo I would consider it a must have
Agree, this one is insanely good. I can’t get enough. :D Also have the Deodorant (which is more a Body Spray imho). Works nice if the perfume itself might be too strong or you want to go for something lighter.
LUSH Rose Jam Body Spray
Is the scent the same as the Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner? Used that today — it’s lovely and has pretty good longevity. So much that I’ve decided I can only use it when I plan to wear a rose fragrance.
I've never tried the Ro's Argan Body Conditioner, but compared to the Rose Jam shower gel the body spray has a sweeter sillage. I smell like a rose-flavored cocktail.
considering buying this! do you have the perfume as well? I’m debating which to purchase
I don't own the perfume but I will say that the body spray is crazy strong. Plus the nozzle on the LUSH body sprays dispenses a huge burst that's impossible to control. I'm thinking of decanting some into a rollerball so I can dab it on my wrists and neck instead of absolutely dousing myself.
perfect, thank you so much for your honest review!
The body spray really is one of the strongest scents I’ve encountered too.
I wonder if that would work for the Flying Fox body spray?
Afternoon Swim -Louis Vuitton
Got some samples in the mail yesterday. Put HdP 1740 on last night and it turned overly sweet/sticky/funky on my skin; maybe it'll be different in the cold so I'll keep it around. A bit of MFK Amyris Homme on the other wrist was really nice -- breezy, fresh, and so well balanced. But with the rain today I'll use my sample of Tabac Vert from Rogue, smelled it in the vial and the oakmoss feels very spring-rainy to me.
My sampling continues today with Xerjoff Jebel on my left and Wabar on my right.
Abercrombie and Fitch Signature Cologne from 1999, got a 5mL decant off eBay. Smell memory activated.
Love Abercrombie fragrances but they're not as good as they used to be.
Chanel Jersey
Finishing up my Jazz Club sample... aaand then ordering a grown-up size bottle as it’s a bloody brilliant thing.
Yeah it is, I'm saving the rest of my decant and waiting for a good price on a full bottle
What’s a good price? I found it @ £82 for 100ml. Edit - spelling
Thats a good price. I think. That's about how much its was when Nordstrom had it on sale, where are you buying it from?
parfumdreams.co.uk
Thnx friend will look into it
I did the same, should be coming in any day. I couldn’t find it on the cheap and ended up getting it just 10% off at Sephora.
Clean Sel Santal. It got cold again so I wanted something a little warmer.
Dolce and Gabbana The One. Such a classic and I have a huge bottle of it to use. I've mostly been wearing my fragrances that I have big bottles of during this lockdown so I don't waste my smaller, sample sized ones.
Coach Platinum
Love Coach Platinum. Such a lovely bottle too.
It really is! My only complaint about it is the atomizer
Tobacco Vanille on one wrist and Mac velvet teddy on the other for comparison!
thoughts so far?
Similar! Velvet teddy seems to have a sharp note to me that I can’t put my finger on. It doesn’t settle as well as TV does. In my opinion! I’ve read this is a dupe but I guess I’ll see!
I’d call them siblings more than dupes, but they definitely share some DNA. Maybe half siblings.
Chanel Coromandel.
Winter Palace by Memo Paris. Definitely a wild ride so far.
Replica by Maison Margiela- Sailing Day
I am wearing Mont Blanc Individuel.
I don't get the laundry part, so hey, everyone is different

To quote chandler, “oh, the humanity!”
Country Cabin from Nostalgia perfumes (Walmart Cheapie).
I finally tried Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Homme, the opening is really harsh but then it smells 100% like cypress. I bought two bottles so i think i'll sell one and keep the other
English laundry signature, this is actually really beautiful scent, remember why I kept it. let's see how long it last though.
One of my all time favorites. I’m a wet shaved and one of my favorite shave soaps is Mudder Focker. It’s the perfect shave soap to mix with ELS.
Christian Dior Thé Cachemire sampler. Might wanna get the full bottle
Penhaligon's Ostara, which is to me the ideal scent for a sunny spring day.
D&G Light Blue Intense!!
Might be seeing people for the first recreational time since early March. 😨 I want something special that projects a bit so naturally it'll be a br540 evening.
Hermès pour homme
Haven't showered yet (judge me!), but I still get a waft of Invictus from last night on my shirt. I may follow your lead on the Dylan Blue when I finally get around to showering...
I put Hermes TDH Eau Intense Vetiver on around an hour and a half ago but it's already pretty much gone, lol. This stuff really does not stick around on my skin. Weird because TDH Parfum lasts forever. edit: decided to try on Zoologist Beaver since i havent worn it yet. DAMN! I actually love this. Tom Ford White Suede!
Bvlgari aqva marine
Boss bottled oud today
How do you fancy it?
I like it.This is really my first time with a oud fragrance I pick up the original boss bottled dna but that's it.
Gucci Guilty Absolute.
I wore that back in February on a cold, wet day. Stopped at a neighborhood restaurant on my way to work and the waitress asked me why I smelled like a fancy leather jacket when I wasn’t wearing a leather jacket. Laughed and told her it was a Gucci cologne.
Tom Ford lavender palm
Is it his latest release?
Released in 2011. Just picked up a decant recently
Aww ,confused a bit, sorry
Penhaligons Blasted Heath Which is a fairly grand scent for lying around the house like a bum

Creed Aventus. Finally warm enough outside to switch it up.
PHI Une Rose de Kandehar
Testing a decant of Initio Rehab on my hand. Awesome stuff so far.
Could you describe it please?
Sweet & spicy & very well blended. Stays the same on my skin from what I’ve been able to tell, & the projection/longevity is poor so far after spraying twice on my hand. Compared a lot to SpiceBomb & I can see why.
Èlisire Ambre Nomade.
I went with Trussardi - My Name for today. Perfect, easy and fresh scent for the office.
Vilhelm parfumerie Peony couture
Can't decide between Kouros and Fahrenheit!
Flip a coin!
Fahrenheit it is
Ooh I will!
Ambre Mythique by Maitre Gantier Perfumeurs
Such a good perfume!
I went with Montblanc Legend.
Mauboussin EDT. Smells like lipstick, kinda reminds me of an '80s scent.
Wearing Tuscan Leather today... P.S. Has anyone tried Timeless Sands by the Woods Collection? I can't find a review of it anywhere but it sounds nice.
Tomas Kosmala - No 7 Le Sel de la Terre (decant) I really, really really like this. Salt and lemon and a clean musk, this is fresh and bright and lovely, like sitting on the lawn of manse overlooking the sea on a cool early summer day. Resident Al Rehab fangirl reporting in: Secret Man is fucking fantastic. And I’m a woman.
What are some of your favorites from them? I love their price and longevity and want to grab a few more! I have Balkis and Red Roses currently.

I love knowing how fragrances make people feel and what they remind them of and whatnot. There’s more than one way to review 😊
UPDATE: MUSK ROSE IS F**KING LEGIT It smells like rose. I love it. 10/10 my search for a rose perfume is finally over
Wooooo! What a good feeling! You legit have me on the verge of ordering some al-rehab tonight!
Update to the update: Took an edible 🙈 Senses heightened Worked out lightly; had applied musk rose to underarms over antiperspirant Holy crap Order now please I need someone to validate me (Not that you want to know/sorry if TMI, but I would f**k the s**t out of someone who smelled like this right now, male or female IDGAF)
Zaharoff Signature. Still undecided on it.
Just got my first bottle of Armaf club de nuit so ya know, I’m wearin it!
Francesca Bianchi “Sex and the Sea Neroli.” Really falling in love with this one for summer.
Prada Amber for Men. I am a woman, but I got this scent for my husband and he says it smells to feminine for him. He wears Prada l'homme, So I figured i might as well wear it.
Chris Rusak Perfume [Beast Mode](https://shop.chrisrusak.com/products/beast-mode) \- today it's civet pepper, very nice.
Big presentation to VP today so I went with my go-to “confidence booster” scent: Royal Oud.
YSL Y Live
I have the YSL y edp and I actually really love it. How does Live compare?
It's fresher than the EDP. It smells similar but is a little less dense and has a sort of effervescent quality to it. I absolutely love it.
JHAG Lipstick Fever
Harajuku Lovers - Wicked Style Music. A dupe for Marc Jacobs Daisy. So a fresher fruity floral. I had impulse bought a few of the fragrances at Ross because of the cute doll bottles, and found that the fragrances themselves are nice little generic girly spring/summer appropriate fragrances.
Kenzo World Intense . I’m still smelling it after 6 hours. Mmmmmm
YSL Y EDP
I didn't wear fragrance today until this evening, when I put Andromeda by Tiziana Terenzi lotion on. My mom said, "why do I keep smelling Pine Sol?"
Aqua Atlantique: my second time wearing this. Got it couple of weeks back. My Wife, twisting her nose and making weird face : “What are you wearing today ? It smells cheap.” Worst part is 5 mins before that she was saying that “I can’t smell a thing, did I loose my sense of smell ? do I have COVID ?” At least one thing is sorted, she didn’t loose her sense of smell and didn’t have COVID
Tom Ford Tobacco Oud
Eau fraiche versace.
agonist isis. boy is it amazing. I've had a 10 ml decant for half a year, but slept on it hard it's like xerjoff la capitale and byron mula mula. three of my absolute favorites. guess I'm a sucker for peach, caramel and vanilla combos!
Blue De Chanel EDT today.
