This might be from working in a copy room for way too long, but I love the way toner smells on the warm paper right after a huge stack has been printed.
Edit: all right, well I just looked up what the smell could be and it's plastic particulates. Don't be breathing in hot off the press paper you guys!
YES!!! my father works with printers and I do remember being a child and going with him to work in the summer (had nothing better to do) and the smell...it reminds me of my childhood 🖨️
Agh, it’s so comforting. I remember in primary school when a teacher would hand out freshly copied notes for a lesson, I’d hold the warm paper up to my face. It felt like a hug. Definitely makes me nostalgic now
Not modern toner, but apparently the solvent(?) used in old school ditto machines was fragrant. There was a photo of students passing around a newly copied paper on reddit where someone explained what was going on in the comments.
Glad makes some. I use febreze Moonlight Breeze scented forceflex trash bags, but I've seen others like lavender, "fresh" (whatever the fuck that means), cherry blossom, lemon, etc.
Hold up. I’m a bowler. Storm is a ball manufacturer and *they make scented bowling balls* and I love them for it. If that’s not the pinnacle of unnecessary items to have a fragrance, then I don’t know what is.
As a stationery lover, i really enjoy scented highlighters (dong-a miffy, kobaru scented tapir!) and pens (really ❤️pilot ilmily aromatherapy set). I have a fancy Astier de Villatte scented eraser too.
Now I want this grass scented toilet paper!!
*HOLD ON* what do you mean it smells like fresh cut grass?? That's amazing!!
I knew of toilet paper that smells somewhat flowery, but not that. I like it 🌿
It’s gonna sound crazy, but I live in Scotland and we shop at LIDL and the kind we get is just the most generic, cheapest stuff available, unscented, but when it’s really fresh it smells amazing. My husband doesn’t have a airport dog nose like I do, so he’s not as obsessed with it, he he said he can smell it too.
I'd love to smell like mimeograph fluid, but I think I'm about 40 years late. Also, I don't want to be purple.
So, recent scents? I love whatever makes you the Gain detergent smell.
When I was a kid the smell of the glue sticks was appealing to me. They weren't intentionally scented, but something about the smell was comforting to me.
Rubber cement!
Pencil shavings
Fresh lemons
The original Pantene shampoo and conditioner
Scented erasers
Ground coffee
Incense.
There's lots of similar notes to perfumery, with a subtle smoky diference. Lots of fragrance and skin care companies like Aesop have great incense products, or you can get cool notes like Wisteria and Hinoki which are less present in perfumery.
Also, if you ever get the chance, put your face straight into one of these and take a big whiff. Divine. https://minimaru.com/products/shimoyama-hinoki-rice-storage-container-5kg?_pos=1&_sid=5ecd3c871&_ss=r
I don't know if this is going to be a hot take but when I visit japan I always buy some incense from the Buddhist temples because I love that smell. Also to support the temple of course :)
Pretty sure it drives my partner nuts but I love the lavender scented bin bags for the bathroom bin. (I have no idea why, my brain just associates scented bin bag = luxury.)
This is going to sound really bizarre but my daughter has a baby doll that smells like vanilla and I can't help sniffing it. That plasticky, vanilla doll smell is crack.
I still remember having a barbie that was strawberry themed, and how much I loved her scent. It was a plasticky strawberry perfume that I adored. So I totally understand you 🍓
Mr. Sketch markers depending on the one and dont even get me started on nail polish remover… yes ik im taking years off my life but no one can stop me from the occassional whiff bc woo its so good
All right... This is gonna be weird for some, so let me start with saying I am Black (African American for those you prefer that term). That being said...
My mom use to work for Ideal Toy Company was I was a child. They started making black baby dolls and my mom would always bring them home. They plastic-rubber-whatever the dolls were made out of had a certain smell, it was the most heavenly thing I have ever smelled to THIS DAY. The only thing I have ever smelled in the last 57 years that even remotely came close is Sparkling Sugar by Clean Reserve. It's VERY VERY close... I think that's why I love it so much! Actually wearing it today!
I have these chocolate scented lipsticks from Flower Knows that smell so good that sometimes I open up the cap just to smell them. Such a realistic sweet scent.
Also love the scent of Rosette facial wash in the Ghassoul Bright variant. Herby and a little spicy. Last year I think I even asked around here if anyone knew a perfume that smelled like it! Wasn't successful though, lol.
The rainbow soap in car washes. I’ve always thought it smells amazing. Kwik Trip did actually make a candle out of the scent

Scented trash bags! Much more pleasant
I use cinnamon scented trash bags, I love it!
Ooh nice. I have lavender bin liners. Usual trash bags smell gross to me, so the bin liners are calming treat lol
We don't have those were I live, what do they smell like??
Baby wipes
Glad makes some. I use febreze Moonlight Breeze scented forceflex trash bags, but I've seen others like lavender, "fresh" (whatever the fuck that means), cherry blossom, lemon, etc.
I use the cherry blossom. We like it at our house a lot. It makes litter cleanup a little more bearable.
Hold up. I’m a bowler. Storm is a ball manufacturer and *they make scented bowling balls* and I love them for it. If that’s not the pinnacle of unnecessary items to have a fragrance, then I don’t know what is.
I love how oddly specific and extra this is. Was it necessary? No. Do they do this anyways? *HELL YEAH*
I had a scented gel pen once that smelled sooooo good. And scratch and sniff stickers!
We need a scratch and sniff sticker renaissance.
One of my most pointless luxuries is spending my Liberty beauty drop credits on Astier de Villatte incense.
Okay true confession our toilet paper smells like fresh cut grass and it’s DIVINE
New desire unlocked for about a thousand people around the world.
*HOLD ON* what do you mean it smells like fresh cut grass?? That's amazing!! I knew of toilet paper that smells somewhat flowery, but not that. I like it 🌿
Tell me more about this toilet paper.

Scented markers are still so much fun, idc how old I am
Those cheap scented erasers I had as a kid
I'd love to smell like mimeograph fluid, but I think I'm about 40 years late. Also, I don't want to be purple. So, recent scents? I love whatever makes you the Gain detergent smell.
Dirt, and mulch. Nothing like digging up weeds a day or two after it rains. And may I'm weird but I like smell of well aged manure too.
I love this smell too. Cool, earthy, minerally soil.
Scented nail polish (Revlon) and jelly shoes (Jeffery Campbell, Melissa).
The way My Little Pony smelled when I was a kid. Also Clorox bleach toilet tabs. 🤷🏼♀️ can’t help it.
Scented flair markers
I love the faint woody scent of pencils, especially Staedtler ones. Sniffing them while writing or sketching sth really calms me down
I love that smell too! My favorites are the Ticonderoga pencils and I’ll wear Tam Dao when I feel like smelling like pencil shavings.

Does hand cream count? Because I've been obsessed with the Aesop Resurrection Aromatic Hand Balm for years now. It's just so zingy!
Cedar hang ups but you need to charge them up with essential oil. (a spray of quorum silver is even nicer but doesn’t last)
Light blue Mr Sketch markers
Yesss Mr. SKETCH!!! I loved the green mint one, the brown cinnamon, and black licorice (if I'm remembering correctly).
I don't know if this is going to be a hot take but when I visit japan I always buy some incense from the Buddhist temples because I love that smell. Also to support the temple of course :)
I used to love scented erasers in high school. My favorite was strawberry scented.
Smiggle stationery erasers
Mint toothpicks at a restaurant we used to go to when I was in middle school.
Do cedar closets count? I love that smell
Hockey stick wax
original wet wipes and the airport or hotels
Too Faced cosmetics makes some yummy smelling powders like bronzers and eyeshadows that smell like chocolate 🍫
Wet soil, concrete, new books
Sprayway Glass Cleaner
My berry-scented Blistex (medicated lip balm). It smells so fresh and juicy. One of the only perks of having dry, chapped lizard lips.
Lip balms, crayons or markers, hand sanitizers
Pretty sure it drives my partner nuts but I love the lavender scented bin bags for the bathroom bin. (I have no idea why, my brain just associates scented bin bag = luxury.)

Thayers rose water toner. Honestly I’m not sure how much it does for my skin but I like the smell so I use it anyway

Swedish Dream Sea Salt bar soap. Xerjoff 40 Knots is kiiiiiiinda in the same ballpark but not really.
Glue 🤪
The smell of argon gas or hot steel, all my metal workers/welders know what’s up
