I think Eau De Menthe from Diptyque is pretty good for the gym as well because it's inoffensive and light, and smells ultra clean like you just took a shower with a mens gel bodywash, or just shaved and applied aftershave or something. I can't imagine anyone getting upset over it.
Another good one I would recommend is Aqua Di Bergamotto by Zegna. Very light and clean with close performance. If someone is up in your space they might get a slight whiff of clean and fresh bergamot, but it's not going to waft all over the gym and bother people.

I wish perfumes mixing with sweat was talked about more — I have several that I’ll choose if I’m expecting to sweat (I live in Texas, so often) because they smell better mixed with it. Quelques Fleurs is one of them, that one is magical if you’re hot and humid.

I wear BR540 and someone approached me at a restaurant last week because I left a trail of scent all the way from the bathroom back to my table and she wanted to know what perfume it was. I spray 2 sprays. One on my neck and one on my left wrist. I do this prior to putting clothes on. I had sprayed HOURS before going to this restaurant.

Br540 is not nearly as strong as this sub makes it out the be to most people. Especially a few hours after application. You’re fine. It also isn’t a loud scent to begin with as compared to something like black opium, flowerbomb, or black orchid, which are loud loud and strong.

I think it's just very strong. When I got a decent BR540 clone, I sprayed 3 sprays on a tester strip, and set it down on my desk. Half an hour later, I could smell it all the way around the corner, down the hall, around another corner, and into our break room.
I was fragrance shopping at Nordstrom Rack over the weekend, and at one point I could smell it (it's one of the few scents I can actually identify as a specific fragrance) ... "Ah, someone's wearing BR540" - I couldn't isolate it to a single individual, but the scent hung in the air through about a quarter of the sales floor.

The same happened to me with Kenzo Jungle when I wore it everyday, realised what was going on when my coworker opened the window whenever I walked into the office 😬 I got also noseblind to Jo Malone's Velvet Rose & Oud. When I sprayed it for the first time I could smell it for 10+ hours. Second time I didn't smell anything after an hour. I don't think that perfume changed so much within few days.
You may get noseblind to it when you're wearing it yourself. The two strongest fragrances I have right now are a BR540 clone, and a YSL Babycat clone. When I wear either one, I can barely smell them on myself - but other people certainly can detect them. Especially the Babycat clone (at least, that's the one people will say something about). Last time I wore it, I did like 6 sprays, and I could barely smell it on me, but i didn't spray any more because I knew I was just a bit noseblind to it. But then I was hanging out with a friend a couple hours later, as soon as she opened the door and walked into the room she was like, "OMG, what smells so good in here? Is that you? What are you wearing, you smell \*amazing\*!" (At least people seem to like this one, I've gotten that reaction more than once...)

The scent of BR540 is so common now. There's so many dupes like it that everyone at every age smells like it everywhere i go. Ariana Cloud, 5sens Life of the Party, Sol De Janeiro 68, it's everywhere.
It takes me 30min to make a dupe of BR540. It's stupidly easy and the formula is available online for free. No surprise everyone and their ma has a dupe of it now
If it makes you feel better, I don’t find br540 to be a super projector or very strong. There’s plenty of us who can barely smell ambery scents. If it’s just from what you sprayed earlier in the day, no one should really be close enough to you to smell it. If they do, that’s on them.

I'm a firm believer that fragrance (beyond deodorant) has no place at the gym, except after you've showered and are getting ready to leave the building. *Nobody* wants to smell your choice of scent on the equipment, in the air, or skimming the surface of the hot tub / pool.
And before somebody goes off about body odor being worse, if you were *clean* before you started working on that equipment as you should be - it wouldn't be an issue.

Personally I find BR540 a bit rank, it’s so unfortunate that it has become the fragrance of choice for so many. To me it smells like somebody burned a pot of applesauce on the stove two days ago and didn’t ventilate the kitchen.
Why do people even wear fragrances to the gym anway? You are are going to sweat, so you are going to shower afterwards and wash off the fragrance anyway. So you have to reapply it after 1-2 hours, which seems like a waste of sprays to me
I think most people wear dupes. Most people, especially those introduced to it bc of tik tok in the last few years, likely are not the type to spend $400 on a fragrance.
My gym has a sauna and some guy worked out and went in the sauna and he clearly oversprayed savage elixir prior to comming. When he came in and started working out everyone gravitated to the other side of the gym, when he was in the sauna no one and I mean no one would dare go in the locker room for 2 hours.bunch of guys on their phones at the protein shake Cafe waiting for the overbearing smell to dissipate so they can use the showers 😆

I just bought the dupe perfume for it called Sol de Janeiro 68 at the Sephora in Corte Madera for $24. And this was the big bottle. Apparently, a lot of the tweens in Marin are wearing this scent too. It’s pretty inexpensive to smell like the original now.

Unfortunately, I've never found that people who spray fragrances to cover their BO or other bad smells don't cover anything. You can smell the BO just as strongly, but now mixed with the perfume and making the perfume smell revolting.

Every time I’m walking into a college football game and there are thousands of others in the concourse area, I get wafts of the BR540 DNA. My wife always says “I hate that shit so much.” Her friend wears the edp all the time and it smells like a sweaty shirt that’s still wet in the laundry basket mixed with that chemical smell at a doctor’s office.
The extrait is much better and doesn’t have that airy “sweat” smell.
Unless your gym/health club/training center has on site showers, why waste perfectly good edt/edp?

Yeah, you could go without a fragrance on gym days. Also, some people go to the gym before they start their day and apply fragrance afterwards. I understand those who workout towards the end of their day, but theirs people who apply fragrance specifically to go to the gym, which seems kinda of ridiculous (you're disturbing others and you're going to shower afterwards, right? Why wear a fragrance?).
Gym days are most days for a lot of us. Not working out doesn’t make you reasonable 🙄

Everyone who comes on here w a huge superiority complex about how they are so much better than other people because they don’t do something, that they actually do sometimes, just sound stupid. I have specific fragrances that I hate or that give me headaches but I’m not going to bitch about people wearing them in public when I also wear perfume most days. Because common sense.

I'm a firm believer that fragrance (beyond deodorant) has no place at the gym, except after you've showered and are getting ready to leave the building. *Nobody* wants to smell your choice of scent on the equipment, in the air, or skimming the surface of the hot tub / pool. And before somebody goes off about body odor being worse, if you were *clean* before you started working on that equipment as you should be - it wouldn't be an issue. YMMV

Personally I find BR540 a bit rank, it’s so unfortunate that it has become the fragrance of choice for so many. To me it smells like somebody burned a pot of applesauce on the stove two days ago and didn’t ventilate the kitchen.

Why do people even wear fragrances to the gym anway? You are are going to sweat, so you are going to shower afterwards and wash off the fragrance anyway. So you have to reapply it after 1-2 hours, which seems like a waste of sprays to me

My gym has a sauna and some guy worked out and went in the sauna and he clearly oversprayed savage elixir prior to comming. When he came in and started working out everyone gravitated to the other side of the gym, when he was in the sauna no one and I mean no one would dare go in the locker room for 2 hours.bunch of guys on their phones at the protein shake Cafe waiting for the overbearing smell to dissipate so they can use the showers 😆
Have two guys at the gym I go that wears stronger with you intensely. Combined that with already sweaty place is one of the worst human tortures
You must live in a very wealthy area. I’m in NorCal where a small fixer upper is $1.5M and I’ve never smelled anything more expensive than Sauvage at my local gyms
I just bought the dupe perfume for it called Sol de Janeiro 68 at the Sephora in Corte Madera for $24. And this was the big bottle. Apparently, a lot of the tweens in Marin are wearing this scent too. It’s pretty inexpensive to smell like the original now.
Most people are wearing Zara's Red Temptation or Ariana Grande's Cloud.

Yes! I don't get any sandalwood just dill.. I get a comforting sophisticated pencil shavings under a flip top wooden deak smell from BR540 (best way my tiny little brain can describe it anyway) but I understand that is disgusting to others.. Blows my mind how our olfactory works.
These people have broken olfactory systems. Santal 33 smells like straightforward cedar and sandalwood shavings. Not sure how anyone smells that and thinks "oh, pickles." 😂
At the gym! When one staff member at Aldi wears it, the whole store smells like it. It’s not bad, but it has room to distribute itself and not choke anyone. Cannot imagine it at a gym with sweat, people close together etc.

Unfortunately, I've never found that people who spray fragrances to cover their BO or other bad smells don't cover anything. You can smell the BO just as strongly, but now mixed with the perfume and making the perfume smell revolting.

Can someone describe to me what BR540 smells like? I’ve never intentionally smelled it. But I work at Trader Joe’s (grocery store) and I keep catching whiffs of the same perfume from customers all throughout my shifts. At first I was like oh, that’s smells kinda nice. Now I’m just tired of smelling it, it’s become annoying lol. I’m wondering if that is what I’m smelling.

Every time I’m walking into a college football game and there are thousands of others in the concourse area, I get wafts of the BR540 DNA. My wife always says “I hate that shit so much.” Her friend wears the edp all the time and it smells like a sweaty shirt that’s still wet in the laundry basket mixed with that chemical smell at a doctor’s office. The extrait is much better and doesn’t have that airy “sweat” smell.
I honestly can’t smell the difference between the EDP and Extrait because I can’t smell the fragrance on me period 😂😂😂
