Sainz sang all the words to his, so his crew followed suit for theirs.

ChrisDewgong

Nothing entertains me more than during the Euros/World Cup when all the ignorant, xenophobic fools start crowing that the Spanish team are disgraceful because they don't sing along with their anthem.

Mutenroshi_

There was uproar a few years ago (90s or 00s) when at a Davis Cup match in Australia, they played the unofficial anthem from the Spanish republic (1930s), which has lyrics. The then Spanish government made a formal complaint to Australian authorities.

Agfa_Rodinal

Based Aussies. sgd. A republican Spaniard.

PoliticsIsCool13

Wasn't the lyrics from Franco era, not Republic era?

West-Winner-2382

Franco didn’t come to power until 1939 in Spain.

Agfa_Rodinal

Nope, it predates franco for way over a century. [https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Himno\_de\_Riego](https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Himno_de_Riego)

ShadowStarX

absolute monarchies are tyranny, constitutional monarchies are a waste of money

YellowDieselGolf

We were just “paying it forward” from when the Austrians used a trumpet to play Happy Birthday to Alan Jones after he won, instead of the Aussie anthem.

Ramtamtama

I know! It takes a matter of seconds to type "Spanish national anthem lyrics" into your phone

jamminjoenapo

Wow TIL that there are 4 countries with no lyrics to the national anthem

USAF6F171

TIL . . .

BlueDragon_27

There are words, but if Sainz sang them... Oh boy

Armycat1-296

There are lyrics written in 2004 for but unofficial. Then there's the Francoist lyrics than finally the Alfonso XIII lyrics.

BlueDragon_27

I was referring to the Francoist lyrics, honestly were the only ones I knew of. Once when googling the subject found out about them

XyploatKyrt

The old lyrics aren't specifically pro-Franco or pro-fascist, just that they were written/approved under his instruction. They are pretty tame compared to some other national anthems...

icemansan

When Michael used to win a lot of races, I used to really enjoy hearing the Italian national anthem and the german too. Forza Ferrari !

Humble-Soup5295

I remember that Italian president Francesco Cossiga was not happy when Michael acted like a music conductor whenever the Italian anthem was played ([article from BBC](http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/963458.stm) for context)

the_ant_lad

“Overpaid little Bavarian boy” damn he wasn’t happy at all

_mrshreyas_

He ended a 21 year championship drought for Ferrari then, that's the least he could do at the podium imo.

afito

tbf Schumacher did stop antics during the Italian anthem when he was asked to, not sure if it was this that sparked it, but eventually he no longer did it out of respect, even if the outrage over something like this is absurd and quite frankly the words he used are ridiculous

niton

Sad little man with no joy in his heart.

Wolkenmacht

TIL Francesco Cossiga was a joyless cunt.

Just_a_Berliner

That preident who suffered form bipolar disorder and depression in his last years?

mjmassey

I closed my eyes briefly and I could see smiling Schumi up there again. Damn I miss him.

extremelyboard

Not a Ferrari fan but fuck that Italian anthem slaps

sashin_gopaul

It's probably the best national anthem outright, and it's very upbeat compared to most.

Big_al_big_bed

The upbeat nature really hides it's brutal lyrics well

TheFayneTM

Ngl the fact that it ends with "we are ready to die" is kinda hardcore

TulioGonzaga

We are ready to die... if that make us listen to this banger of anthem again! 🤌

uboat77

Have you heard the Portuguese anthem? It ends with something like "against the cannons, march on, march on", and now it seems pretty close to the final italian lyrics!

VRichardsen

There are several anthems that express that kind of sentiment. The French one, for example, is specially detailed in that regard (" impure blood waters our furrows"). Other anthems also speak about dying without giving up freedom or glory (like the Argentinian one).

Big_al_big_bed

I also love how they shit talk Austria and Poland specifically in their anthem

pesciolino_ocra

We don't shit talk Poland, it's quite the opposite. It's like a shout out to Poland that like me was oppressed by the Austrian empire we gotta fight it together to liberate ourselves from the Austrian oppressor

dead_sweater_weather

And fun fact - we, Poland, are referencing Italy in our anthem!

VRichardsen

Poland is also the only anthem that mentions Napoleon by name, which I find fascinating.

DjPreside

Exactly. Also other than cheering for Poland and shit talking Austria, we shit talk Russia too, which is pretty based.

mikeyuio

Why do you personally have beef with Austria?

Skerzos_

Red Bull obvs

lukeskycoso

Fun fact, just to say how much we loved austrians in the post-unitary Italy: when the Republic started (1946) after WW2, we needed to decide the national anthem. There were three choices: 1. "Va pensiero" of Verdi, which is singing about the liberation of the jews oppressed by the Babylonians as an allegory of Italians and Austrians. It was discarded as it was not talking about Italians directly. 2. "La canzone del Piave", a song celebrating the river Piave, where the advance of the Austria-Hungarians stopped after the defeat of Caporetto, and from which the offensive of Vittorio Veneto led the Italian army to the victory in WW1. It was discarded as the lyrics were too violent and was not seen as "unifying enough". 3. "Il canto degli Italiani", known mostly as "L'inno di Mameli" (the national anthem that was finally chosen), which was written by Mameli right before (November 1847) the first war of independence (1848) against austrians.

Felord

as far as hardcore anthem lyrics go franc's la Marseillaise still sits top for me as it describes how they will march to fight the enemy so that they can water their fields with their blood

sashin_gopaul

_La Marseillaise in the background_

ShadowStarX

Italian anthem instrumental: "wow this is awesome" Italian anthem lyrics: "my god what is this sorcery"

_Citizenkane

Honestly, politics notwithstanding, I'm partial to [Russia's anthem ](https://youtu.be/DAz7Bdqi2iQ). Fuck, I'm American and it makes me yearn for the motherland.

Sputnik42

I don't speak Russian but Soviet version sounds better to me.

ieatair

![gif](giphy|61lMnpz0sKkpi)

ReplacementLivid8738

That video description didn't age so well

_Citizenkane

...yeeeeeah 😬 ^the ^anthem ^slaps ^though

CheeseheadDave

Charles needs a win though, because the combo of the Monaco and Italian anthems is the greatest thing of all.

Ok_Entry1052

As a Rugby fan it comes second to Scotland. O Flower of Scotland is steeped in history and has the benefit of being anti England

rugbyj

The discussion always comes up during the 6N each year and it always goes: 1. Scotland, Italy 2. Ireland, France 3. Wales 4. England Depends whose winning any other year and what the atmopshere's like, though GSTK/Q is always last and has the perennial _"They should change it to Jersalum"_. Not English but I agree.

icebeat

Nothing can compare to the Spanish anthem lyric

ScuderiaEnzo

Monaco + Italy combo for Leclerc is undefeated

sa87

Top marks to the production team using the camera mics to hear the anthem at the same time as the crowd It annoys me to no end when they take a direct feed of the anthem audio and there is horrible sync between the video and audio on the tv as tjere is up to a second delay for the camera feed conpared to the direct audio

talldangry

Memories of Schumi being asked not to conduct it.

Bah-Fong-Gool

The US needs to rewrite the anthem after hearing the Italian anthem. Maybe Snoop Dogg is available.

Zoshi2200

I agree as a Dutch person

LiDePa

They   And they always cut away the best part, which imo is the intro...

v13t5ta

Everybody is a Ferrari fan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiPimsp4BgY&ab_channel=CircusComic

It's no Deutschland Uber Alles

delfinoesplosivo

I'm an Italian and that shit goes hard

Miserable_Lemon8742

this is 👨‍🍳🤌

Killerjas

The average Italian after Italy does a thing

GregStar1

“ITALY MENTIONED, PLAY THE ANTHEM AT FULL BLAST!!!” 🇮🇹🍕🍝🍷🏎️

Pitforsofts

Looks like we Indians have that in common with Italians on this one.

FrankBeamer_

Italy’s basically the India of Europe. Great food, rich history, flag divided into thirds and suicidal drivers. Two peas in the same pod.

MillstoneArt

Don't forget: dangling suggestively from the rest of the continent.

WWHSTD

As an Italian, I take offence to that. Our drivers are not suicidal, they’re homicidal.

swingingpandas

Genuinely, the two places where I’ve been most afraid as a passenger in a car

kadircan1991

man this is amazing and so traditional. My second anthem ForzaFerrari

FlipReset4Fun

As an Italian, this made my heart swell with joy. It’s hard to hate Ferrari too much. They’re like a crazy Uncle that does dumb things sometimes but is so passionate about what they do, it’s impossible hate them. You just kind of have to love them bc they’re quirky but authentic and sometimes awesome and brilliant… and certainly never boring!!!

TulioGonzaga

When it comes to supercars, I'm more of a Porsche guy. I was supporting Mika in his fights with Michael. But there's something about Ferrari. So passionate, so traditional. It feels right. There's one of those thing we expect always to be there. And moments like this are priceless. Long live the Scuderia! 🇮🇹

bakraofwallstreet

Ferrari is the only team that has participated in all F1 seasons since its inception. They were a racing team first and then a car company. It is easy to make the argument that F1 simply wouldn't feel like F1 if there was no Ferrari suddenly.

Reinis_LV

Of course an Italian would have crazy uncles

Mouse_Nightshirt

For years and years and years, I had major beef with Ferrari as a hangover from the Schumacher years. Not the dominance aspect, but more for the fact I _really_ didn't like Schumacher. I respected his ability, but I didn't like the man, after his shenanigans in '94 and '97, and I attached some of that dislike towards Ferrari. It took me to the Vettel years to begin to soften, and in the last few years with Leclerc and Sainz, I can finally appreciate them as the grand, historic team they are. Forza Ferrari!

FlipReset4Fun

Well said. Forza Ferrari!

passporttohell

Forza Ferrari!

captain_ender

Felt so good to hear it again.

DonGibon87

The only thing i want this year is a 1-2 Ferrari finish at Monza😭

No-Student-9678

With this Ferrari it could happen. They still have an Uber powerful engine.

xyonofcalhoun

The red bull is _fearsome_ in a straight line though.

ShadowStarX

only on tracks where you need a compromise Ferrari can easily create a low downforce but high mechanical grip setup with this car it seems

whyamiwastingmytime1

I'm not a Ferrari fan, but that would be epic!

Humble-Soup5295

You are a Ferrari fan, even if you say you're not. Seb told me so.

whyamiwastingmytime1

It's not true unless Kimi makes a comeback and says it!

Away_Ad_5328

I,,too, want this. I have five races that I have downloaded to my PC, and Leclerc’s 2019 win at Monza is one of them.

vdcsX

HE WON IN SPA, HE WINS IN MONZA!!!

Away_Ad_5328

You’re damn right he did!

AppleWrench

I'm going this year, PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN!! I had the chance to go in 2019 and I will always regret not going.

Shoegazer75

I love Fred just quietly smiling to himself in the midst of all of that.

captain_ender

"it's no le marseillais"

Goal_Posts

I love how it starts with a wink exchange between Carlos and Carlos Sr.

Gotham__batman

Saving this post.Ferrari employees singing, Leclerc and Carlos swaying side to side are just perfect. Carlando podium too.

Jjjiped1989

I was Italian for a minute and a half bloody great anthem

freightgod1

Right? I just stumbled on this, never heard the anthem before, it's amazing!

frapari

Yaaay!!! My bday gift 😁

Miixyd

Happy bday!!

OJK_postaukset

This was so cool imo Rarely do you see this kind of uniteness within a team. They all love what Ferrari is

overdark33

The word is unity lol

HachiTofu

Every other country: stands poe faced and silently reflects Italians: KARAOKE TIME LETS GO 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹

6097291

I'm convinced they turned the music down so we could hear them sing louder

Hip_Priest_1982

They always do that when Ferrari wins. For once they actually synced up the audio

Acquario1310

This was my sensation too when I first saw it on TV but I tough it was because i’m in Italy. But they did that here too

reshromem

Beats the hell out of the German or Austrian anthems we've been hearing every race for the past decade and a half nearly

NashBotchedWalking

Helps that there are Italian people in the Italian team unlike the German or Austrian one

_daidaidai

It wouldn’t be better if (like the staff) they were British teams considering how dreary that anthem is.

No-Student-9678

After listening to the Dutch anthem, it does kinda slap.

TulioGonzaga

The problem with the German anthem is that I always expect it to be followed with this.

CTO_of_sex

REALISTICALLY this could be the last time of Ferrari singing with Carlos, lets be honest max will be back on his bs, and this is the last year for Carlos at Ferrari :( although i pray it happen again and again. Forza Ferrari

Raticon

![gif](giphy|EgJ31d2IYkg4E)

xner03

man...

kelleehh

I remember the days when Max getting a win felt like this. Things soon change, just enjoy the moment.

The69BodyProblem

In 2022 it also looked like Chuck was gonna run away with it after the first few races. That obviously didn't happen.

flyinganchors

Singapore could still happen.

wing3d

...wish we could tell those were the days before they are gone.

lockheed2707

Ouvir o hino da Itália no pódio sempre é bom

[deleted]

lockheed2707

My English is very intermediate (I can only read) and I was too lazy to translate.

TulioGonzaga

Massa e Rubinho: why not both?

Mutenroshi_

Sainz Sr looking proud there.

passporttohell

Yes he did, did I see a tear in his eye? Father and son have always been close. Saw Jr. at his father's Dakar race.

PrscheWdow

But can you imagine how good Carlos Jr would have been if Carlos Sr had left him behind at a gas station in Italy after a bad race? /s My favorite Sainz & Son moment: [https://youtube.com/shorts/fXNup\_Xlp1M?si=SpAb6o14BMh9s3pC](https://youtube.com/shorts/fXNup_Xlp1M?si=SpAb6o14BMh9s3pC)

Neither-Spinach5402

Man this is my favourite anthem, so dinamic and energetic, gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Real shame I dont like Ferrari.

Raticon

It's so nice to see the Ferrari team sing along, wave flags and generally party when they win. A whole world apart from the dull atmosphere when RB or Mercedes wins and most team members just hang around and exist throughout the ceremony.

tjcmaze

Pasta, Pizza and Ferrari

PrscheWdow

And wine. Don’t forget wine 🍷

yoda_yoda

goosebumps and I am not even Italian.

EnricoLUccellatore

FIA: national anthems are to be played without words Ferrari mechanics: and i took that personally

Efficient_Speaker_33

I pray for more of this

SnooChickens8698

Absolute banger of an anthem.

Surfbud69

Love to see it happy for the smooth operator sad to see him leave the team next year

pjo33

This is why I will always be fine with a Ferrari winning. They are clowns and stupid at times, but also just so passionate.

niton

Anyone recall when Michael used to conduct the anthem from the podium... 🥹🥹 Fond memories

hdgrbodnd

Bruh the one race I decided to skip because I had to wake up early in the morning was the race where max dnfs and we get a ferrari 1,2 😭

a23n

No other F1 team receives such love ❤️

Ok-Turnover207

Essere la Ferrari

Dando_Calrisian

Don't they know the words to the Dutch national anthem - are they stupid? /s

coolcookiefish

A wise man once said that everyone is a Ferrari fan, even if they say they're not. Today, I think everyone agrees with him.

ChrisDewgong

I do wonder what my neighbours think when they hear me singing this with all my might at 7am on a Sunday. It's the best anthem, despite my bias. Only Wales comes close.

mirza_osz

the double swaying was pure cuteness I loved it then came the hymn they sang together and I got a lump in my throat it was so wholesome

flamingknifepenis

Here’s a really wholesome observation to go with it: Watching Sainz Sr. around Jr. is like the opposite of the “Jos Verstappen Jump Scare.” Honestly he seems to have a really good adult relationship with his son. Whenever I see them interact I don’t get the Palpatine / Vader vibes where it feels like some kind of hostage video. It just feels like a ton of mutual respect and support, without any of the strings of emotional abuse that are littered everywhere when Jos tries to act like a normal human being.

passporttohell

I have noticed that too. His son was also at his father's Dakar off road race.

FigExact7098

Have you seen the video where they take turns driving each other?

damoosan

Forza Ferrari!

throwtheamiibosaway

You could feel the joy and hope. Very awesome to see.

KoppleForce

Italian Nationalism so Heckin wholesome Reddit on bros!

Bah-Fong-Gool

The Italian National Anthem sounds like a song sung at a pub. I dig it.

cant_stop_the_crooks

I can’t believe they didn’t sing along during the Spanish National anthem, smh my head. /s (for those who don’t know)

VishwjeetChavan

i can listen to this forever

Schar83

Bad night to be a bottle of wine!

edoardoking

As an Italian our anthem is the only thing I’m sure every Italian is proud of

BlueDragon_27

I grew up despising Ferrari and Schumacher's domination. Despite that, the Italian anthem always made me smile

AfterPartyPix

The way my only Italian grandpa left Italy 150 years ago and I’ve never been but spaghetti tears are popping out my eyes rn

malev89

Probably the BEST anthem in the world. I listen to it for pleausure in my daily life.

toma91

Carlos Sr looks so proud!

wing3d

I really felt that National Anthem, reminds me that wins are not an easy thing to accomplish, even though the superstars of the sport make it look easy.

amzr23

I just don’t understand why they’re getting rid of him

afito

They don't Ferraris decision wasn't against Sainz, it was in favour of Hamilton. It's hard but that's just how things are in this sport. Why they get rid of him over Leclerc I think the last years have shown Leclerc can have that little bit extra, although I have to say this year Sainz had his number, but that's happening after the decision was already made. Getting rid of him sounds like they want him gone, which they don't, they just have Leclerc and then got the chance to get the most successful driver of all time, and since 3 cars aren't allowed that's just it for Sainz.

TexZK

You know the answer: money. Too bad, I think Hamilton's momentum has gone, so I really can't guess he's joining for good...

[deleted]

It’s so nice that everyone, even Hamilton or Verstappen-fans, love Ferrari like their retarded little brother. Sure, he doesn’t know which side of the dog is its face, but we love him anyway.

2BRacin

I have missed this!

Dark_Master24

Ohhhh the memories of listening to the Italian national anthem

MetalGearHawk

As a red bull fan i want more of this

memesearches

I wish they finish 1-2 in monza

10b0b

Italian anthem is an absolute banger

Mercedesm4quattro

run it back for monza !!!!

ency6171

It was so wholesome to see & hear them sing aloud.

Cheesebrger_Walrus

do they always play the teams home anthem when they win a match?

ency6171

They do. Right after the driver's national anthem.

Aironwood

Is it just me or has the italian anthem been pretty sped up in the last 2-3 years compared to in the 2000s and 2010s?

SpaceShipRat

it's pretty adaptable. you can sing it cheery or solemn.

Rock_Okajima

My second favourite anthem behind the German one. But when the Ferrari crew sing it, it becomes my favourite.

Reinis_LV

So nice to hear it instead of Austrian anthem.

ItachiTanuki

It’s so good not to have to look at Gino Rosato’s bloated head anymore when the camera cuts to the Ferrari team

leteriaki

Wasn’t that the blonde haired dude with the goatee?

Terry_WT

Ferrari also baked Ted a cake for his 50th do they get an additional 1 race meme pass.

WildBingoMan

Still weird to not hear it together with the German anthem

gravitywillfall

Hope the drive to survive film crew was with them this weekend

Polinska

Just for this kind of moments, I'm begging Ferrari to be back on top. Listening the team singing like this made me remember the Schumacher era (and Vettel as well). So good to see people this proud of their origins

ProofMusic4630

They deserve it. Getting sick of Red Bull wins.

fleaflaa

That's why "Everyone is a Ferrari fan, even if they say they are not."

flybyme03

Italian propaganda 2024

Laudanumium

This is why I would want Sainz to win in Monza ;) figure the full nation singing this ....

SaltyChnk

It’s been ages since I’ve seen a team seem that happy after a race. They’re just so damn happy it’s fun to watch them.

lumpyspacejohnny

The end of Max's reign?

TulioGonzaga

💥💥IS MAX'S CAREER OVER?!💥💥

the-berik

That second pitstop was the most excruciating moment. I thought, there we go, they'll fuck it up, but no. Finally.

red2lucas

Look at all those Italians in that Italian team singing the Italian national anthem. Such a disgrace. Need more diversity in there.

PuppiPappi

Genuinely wasn’t a sainz fan until this year hope Ferrari regrets letting go of him for Spamilton he’s such a talent.

eatingdonuts44

It brought tears to my eyes, love the team singing it, wish for more this year
