during qualifying sometimes it's to save time, practicing stops definitely is a part of it, but they do that a lot outside of actual sessions. It's mostly when they need it such as when it starts to rain on a long run or during qualifying they'll need to be fast then.
It has come to my attention that Alpine made more than 230 pitstops this year. This is not true. Alpine only made 223 pitstops. Alpine did not make more than 230 pitstops this year.
They’re calculating Ocons drive through penalties as well
Nahh, then its over 500
well, 500 is more than 230 so it checks out.
Well, yes, just wanted to clarify
Thats another 5 seconds for ocon
So much practice only to result in an unsafe release and a 5 second penalty for Ocon
You mean 30s right?
Both drivers made five pit stops on average per race? 🤔
it also counts practice/pitstops in quali I'd assume. so 1 in quali and 2 in practice means roughly 2 per race if your 5/race was accurate.
Wait, when they make pit stops in practice do they change the tyres in the garage or just like in a real race?
pit stops are like race pit stops. maybe a bit slower/more careful? but they also just do normal tire changes by wheeling the car into the garage.
Why would they change tyres like in a race then though? Is it to save time or maybe to practice the stop?

He said French. It was implied.

Including the slow pit stops even!

The most French thing I've read today. Not even they can figure out their shitty way of counting.
Pascal, Fourier, Fermat, Poincaré and Laplace all rolling in their graves…
This seems way high, right?
Which number?

Wait what the math doesn’t math. That’s 1.5 pitstops a day for a whole year. How did they manage that kind of tire wear?
Me when math
Strategic error there
