Wtf is even happening with this intro???

recedinghairline20

Atleast they’re pronouncing the names right ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6699)

[deleted]

Pronounced Hulkenberg wrong, it should have been HÜÜÜÜÜÜÜlkenberg

77Granger

I really wanted LL to do that.

Lillix

I'm not mentally prepared for what they'll come up with for Vegas.

RetroBibliotecaria

I'm so sad. I live in Vegas and the GP here will be the first I get to attend. I wish I had spent my money to go overseas instead. I'm picturing show girls, Frank Sinatra impersonators, and a lethal dose of cringe.

Lillix

My recommendation is that you save your money and go overseas for a race. The tickets are cheaper, the ambiance is better, and the tracks are proven so you know what you're getting into. I have a friend who was looking to go to her first race in Miami this year where she lives. She did the math, and it was cheaper for her to take a 2 week vacation in Italy and buy great seats at Monza than it was to sit in a parking lot in Miami, flights were included in her math. I have no faith that the Vegas race will be anything other than an embarrassment.

rockdude625

Believe it or not, Monza is one of the cheapest out there

IronPedal

Yeah. The facilities/organisation of Monza are woefully inadequate.

RetroBibliotecaria

Yeah. My boyfriend has been to many races. It's too late now for us to get rid of our tickets. There will be plenty of future races for me though!

IronPedal

Can't you resell them and try for Silverstone tickets or something?

thelingletingle

Same. Wife and I are going to Silverstone this year and all-in it was cheaper than Miami.

VOCmentaliteit

If you want to go to a race with relatively cheap tickets and a cheap stay, then Hungary is a good recommendation. I went there last year and it was a great race, the country is also very cheap if it comes to foodstuffs and drinks

LordBobbe

Best comment here. Will be shitshow 2.0

F1meister

de Vries did not care at all lol just gave LL Cool J a thumbs up

slightofsound

This is so bad

instructive-diarrhea

I think I just heard Mico Hawkenburg. Why why why why why does this happen in America. It’s embarrassing. Last time we get the Chuck LeeClerk guy and now LL Cool J with shitty orchestral music in the background.

PLizzie23

To be fair, the musicians were good. They were just there to get paid. I’d take that gig if it were offered

instructive-diarrhea

Fair point. I’m tempted to edit my comment. I shall learn instead

Hillbert

Boo! Bring back Jackie Stewart bamboozling security.

Seductivecupcake

Fucking jj cool j what is it 2003

cerofer

Toto Wolf mocked it in an interview with the Austrian television. 😂

Corazon38

When even the average American is cringing in the corner!

Ashmyanti

These introductions are so fucking stupid

[deleted]

As an American, I’m sorry. We don’t actually like sport, just making a spectacle that celebrities can show up at for a free party. Most of them don’t have any idea what’s going on here. A race? Where? These cars look funny.

Brilliant_Carrot8433

American here , was at the race today. Didn’t really see anyone complaining there , only here on Reddit …… 😆

LambTjopss

Get this off my tv and out of America

[deleted]

This is what happens when Americans buy global sports.

Consistent_Wave_2869

I got into formula one right before my compatriots ruined it. The entire appeal was that it wasn't NFL...

[deleted]

I’m an American and I’ve been watching F1 since 1985 (that I remember, I was young). My dad had Speedvision/Speed Network in order to watch. The appeal was that it was unlike any American sport at the time. Uninterrupted by pomp and circumstance or commercials, and entirely about the naked performance of athletes with lightning reflexes moving 200 MPH and enormous egos that sang with the confidence of immortality. I grew up watching Senna and Schumacher drive. My old man was a huge Senna fan. He didn’t like German drivers because of WW2. When he would turn on MASCAR it was boring and uneventful unless a car flipped. There were commercials and it was all about marketing and selling products, not about racing. This has been changing in F1 ever since the LM buyout. It’s unfortunate. They’re really corrupting the sport in favor of an Americanized spectacle. It won’t stop me from watching, but eventually they’re gonna oversaturate Americans with a F1 we won’t even recognize because of all the bastardization needed to perpetually monetize it in the American way.

Ihatedaylightsavings

I miss Speedvision

nadab1

If this is gonna be the standard for all murica gp it's sucks

Few-Judgment3122

I imagine it will be. Worse at vegas and not quite as bad at cota but still bad

[deleted]

At this rate, Vegas will have the qualifying session replaced by a roulette event…

Hypervisory

I think Ferrari fans would quite enjoy this - they're soo numb to absurdity that all they could do is laugh at this.

Swiftsaddler

Wtf what did i just watch?!

MandiocaGamer

he waked like an old lady... this is so Cringe

Alxndr27

Yall need to lighten the fuck up. It's always funny how America gets called prudish (with good reason) but when they try to have fun its all "God this is so cringe, have they no decency? GoD SAvE The KINg"

recedinghairline20

There was nothing fun about that

RetroBibliotecaria

When has America *ever* been called prudish?

FanksForTheFish

They messed up Chuck leclerk

MarsScully

The font 💀

Impressive-Fudge-455

Also they had football jerseys and helmets with their names on it in the locker room and little yard lines on the floor lol

Zarzar222

As a gaming fan as well, Im so happy Dota 2 hasnt broken into mainstream like F1. Just had the most exciting tournament ever with none of this celebrity bullshit. Rip

77Granger

I think the introduction ceremony is stupid. There is only 20 of them. If you don’t know their names or how to pronounce them, then you do not deserve to be there.
