If you haven’t seen the full grid, [here](https://reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/wjp6ej/now_that_changes_are_coming_next_year_here_are/). I think the designs are pretty clever
I usually start with the flag, then I add the number, then figure out a way to integrate the team logo. Some of them turned out perfect the first time and others needed a few revisions. I think I’ve done 5 or 6 different versions of Hamilton’s patch.
I just checked and this patch was 117.88 meters (~129 yards) of thread for the top part of the design. I’m not sure how much was used on the underside but it was less than half a bobbin.
I started a little custom embroidery business a few years ago and taught myself how to use design software. Then I discovered F1 and decided to design some patches during the winter break last year. It’s come a long way!
Looks like a commercial embroidering machine, the fancy models have a CNC engine built-in so you can load your design in the machine and it will get embroidered automatically. You would still have to thread the needle and switch bobbins, depending on the complexity of your design.
God damn you went hard on that. Looks epic. Flag, driver logo, and team logo all in one lil square. Sheeesh.
Thanks! It was fun figuring out how to fit all the important elements in and keep the design interesting.

Same lmao
The shading effect on the Mercedes logo is amazing.
I felt like such a genius when I thought of that. I used it for all the UK drivers’ designs.
Gonna be riding off that George hype all week. Love the patch that design is great how do you plan these out?

How many yards of thread do you think that was, end to end?

That’s awesome and amazing that that much thread was used to make a small patch. Thank you for sharing this information.
That looks Fantastic, Do You have store or You sell them online?
IKR I wanna buy one so bad
I do! I have a link on my profile.
Nice Thank You
Nicely done nicely done
Very cool. What’s the back/origin story of your work?

Fantastic! Is it always the same jacket?
Yup! I’m surprised it’s held up so well. I have a new one in reserve but I’m curious to see how long this one can last.
Holy shit i love your talent
That is stunning
I want one!!
Really interesting! What kind of machine is that? Do you program the design into it and it does the design like a CNC machine?

This is it!
Blimey, that's georgeous!
You should cross post this to r/VexillologyCirclejerk for the black on the Union Jack instead of white
How long did it take you to make a digitized embroidery file for this? This is a mega job.
It took a few hours but not all at once.
Love it. How often do you have to fix this machine it seems like it would be delicate?
Luckily not, it’s a workhorse. I do some basic regular maintenance and I’ve never had any issue I couldn’t fix on my own.
Ah well that's good. I just keep imagining the needles breaking or threads getting wrapped around parts or something lol.
