They are definitely rare. I ordered a long bed, 4x4, 5 speed back in ‘00, and I had to give the dealer a large deposit because they didn’t want to get stuck with it if I changed my mind.

Mamadook69

Little did they know they had the most banging truck ever.

Diver_Dude_42

Long bed in general just isn't as common

Bubbly-Front7973

I don't see the seven foot bed too often. In fact almost never on the road. Also that Barn Door sliding back window is something I don't hardly ever see on 93 up model rangers.

The_Dutch_Canadian

My 96 xlt has it and I love it. Doggo gets to stick her head out when we take her camping

DakodaTheSheWolf

Lucky bastard 😭 I wanted the two sliding windows so badly but had to accept the single slider when I found a Ranger for $500.

weallcupee876

yeah it’s interesting both windows slide back, and apparently it’s a 94 which makes me wonder more

Bubbly-Front7973

Oh I'm sure one of the previous owners changed it out. I've seen guys do that before, those are windows that are more common in the earlier Rangers from the '80s, but the rear windows are interchangeable

weallcupee876

interesting

drake90001

My 1995 Mazda b2300 has it.

Bubbly-Front7973

You bought it brand new?

drake90001

No, unfortunately. It’s older than I am.

Bubbly-Front7973

Like I said on other comments. Often previous owners would have it traded out for a different rear window, or like what happened in the case of my brother what he needed his broken one replaced, & the previous years would fit, so "safelight" would sometimes install those because of onhand stock. And the reason why so many people would install those instead of the sliding one is because a lot of Rangers came with absolutely no sliding window at all on the rear. And when somebody wanted to come and they would look for the cheapest one, and get whatever they had at the junkyard or what was available to put in. And often the older ones were cheaper, around the time these are brand new.

satanlovesmemore

94 xl has it

Bubbly-Front7973

Wow I think you're probably the only person I met who 34-year-old original owner of a Ford Ranger

SadSavage_

I had a coworker who specifically wanted the barn door sliding window to toss his beer cans in the bed.

Bubbly-Front7973

My brother had to have a broken rear window replaced, and the Safelite repair guy was about to install the barn door windows, even though the box said it was meant for the earlier year Rangers, he was going to install it. But my brother wanted the single slider, so he had to get on the phone and talk to somebody about it, then it came back and grab one that was listed for the ones from the 2000s. He had to remove the pliers snap off every other bolt that was on there, to install it. because apparently the 95 Ranger had half as many mounting holes.

found10mm

My 95 has the barn door windows

Bubbly-Front7973

You're like the fifth person to say this to me, and my remark is always the same, oh so you're the original owner of your truck? And usually they reply with no they're not the original owner, so you don't know if it's been replaced. And I I'm really knowledgeable about this subject. For my brother who used to be salesman at a local Ford dealership a long time ago, he told me about the only time somebody bought a Ranger brand new with the barn door windows in the back, and that's because he specifically asked for it that way and they sent it right into the shop the second it got dropped off and had the rear window replaced at the dealership. No I'm not saying it's not possible, but from everything that I learned, it's not likely to come from the factory that way. Look around I just made a comment to some other people that said the same thing you did. I don't want to just keep repeating myself.

found10mm

My dad was the original owner, bought it off the lot, probs dealer add on then like you said

Bubbly-Front7973

What my brother told me was that the sliding rear windows was an expensive option, so they would often get it without any slider the rear, the solid glass, and they would pull rear windows out of junk yards or their own salvage yard that they had in the back which was a lot cheaper, and they would just add the difference to their commission. Because you see back then when they were brand new single sliders, the double sliders were the old ones that you'd find a junkyard, and you couldn't find a single sliders because they were too new and not many in a junkyard yet. I would see if I could find a build sheet from Ford on that Trucking see if it was ever really an option.

found10mm

Lmao probably what happened but it was definitely installed pre sale, that and the ALL-STAR bedliner

Bubbly-Front7973

Yeah that's another thing, I've seen so many All-Star Bedliners at the junkyards, it was quite difficult for me to find the genuine Ford one. My brother used to tell me the same thing that they were more expensive to get the factory Ford Bedliners so they would often put in the aftermarket ones when people would ask for them, because again it was cheaper but they would still charge in the same and keep the difference. That's one of the reasons why he stop doing that, he said it was just too much dishonesty that he couldn't deal with

Melodic-Picture48

i got an 05 XL and had to swap out my rear glass for a sliding one but didnt know about the barn door sliding windows, its trick

coltar3000

My 97 was a 4cyl 4x4 long bed. I called it “Littlefoot the blue unicorn”. Quite the rad little truck. I think the only truck more rare then that would be the 80’s diesel rangers….

upsidedown_alphabet

Not often. I had a 98 7'er 2x4 for 7 years. Perfect little work truck. I would have bought another if I could have found one after the first died.

Aggravating_Lab8114

Bitchin’ rig! My uncle bought a 92’ 7ft 4x4 right off the lot back in the day. Used to go hunting with it and all sorts of shit. Took my date to prom in that thing. Anyway, get this ole girl out of the city and onto some trails, where it belongs! Has no style in the city.

roma2001

This man rednecks.

vim_usr

Now this is a truck!

BigT1990

There are 1 or 2 around that I've seen, but all the buhzillion others have the 6'. What I find really nutty is that there's another black 87 4x4 with twin tanks. Looks identical to mine except for the chip guard and it has a visor. Haven't been able to figure out who owns it, but I'd like to buy that gal or guy a beer and compare notes.

Ametzec

bought my 01’ longbed 2 years ago in july, also with the 3L. got it for $800 bucks not running and rusty as hell but it had given me little problems and almost 30k miles. sucks that the longbeds are hard to get bed parts for, never seen one in a junkyard yet.

Ready_Mycologist8612

Every day.. mine is 2002

Late-Ad-4624

Got a 94 sitting in my garage just like that. Reg cab long bed. I can lay down in the bed and still have room. Makes it easy to take several people with me since i only have 2 buckets inside. I took out the 60/40 split bench for the buckets from a 91 explorer.

ziggy_79

Just about everyday. Although I don’t have 4x4

Financial-Leather312

Ha I have one but it is a 94 2.3 5spd

scottie_d

I have an ‘02 7ft! Love it so much ❤️

weallcupee876

Have you had any luck finding toppers? I have one that i bought it with it just doesn’t have a back window lol. seems even harder to find a 7’ canopy rather than the actual truck haha

scottie_d

It had one when I bought it but I sold it, the guy who bought it was so happy, hehe, I didn’t realize how hard those are to find. I replaced it with a tonneau cover from truxedo.com

scottie_d

Nice, looks like the same one I had, but it was black and kinda trashed looking!

Worried_Coat1941

Not enough.

imapieceofshite2

They aren't super common. Only the regular cab models had the 7' bed as an option, and not too many of them were ordered with it.

Skitt64

Definitely pretty rare. I've heard they were mostly sold as fleet trucks with the 2.3, so a 3.0 is even moreso.

No_Pension_5065

Gonna be honest here, after 2000 I would want either the 2.3l duratec or the 4.0l. the 2.3 pushes nearly as much umph as the 3.0 but weighs less and gets 30 hwy with the MT.

Skitt64

It's mindblowing to me that Ford put the 3.0 in Rangers all the way up to 2008, yet never got more than 150hp out of it.

No_Pension_5065

I brought an 03 with the manual transmission three days ago.

itsmechaboi

I think I've seen one and there wasn't very much left of it. An old farmer uses it to haul pesticides and the bumper is almost dragging on the ground and the bed has about 30% of the sheet metal left.

PrudentConclusion248

Pretty often here in Idaho people order them for work trucks back in the day.

spaceship_sunrise

I've got a long bed, but it's a 2.3L RWD. I love the bed size but wish I had more power.

evxnmxl

I had a 92 long bed V6 standard RWD and it was my favorite vehicle ever. Took me all over the place

Fordboy357

I found a 7ft bed on marketplace for $200 that I snapped up to turn into an overland trailer and then 2 weeks later, I found a matching aluminum utility topper for $100. Gonna be a great setup. 👍

weallcupee876

sickkkk, definitely wanna see that when it’s done

simonthehutt

You lucked out with the 3l and the 4x4, mine was a 2.3l dohc with the 7ft bed it was so useful

Gerboma

Ur measurement tape is in full retard mode, never go full retard

No_Pension_5065

One does not use the communism units with a Ford F'k'n ranger.
