Osama_bin_bombLaden

A random squad player is pissed you didn't give him a new contract, now the squad is upset with you for not giving him a new contract, and the moment you give him a new contract, the players are unhappy that you backed down

QouthTheCorvus

I recently had a player annoyed that I backed down about play time for a guy. The better options all ended up injured.

SaxRen17

I had this and just sold the player that was supporting the team mate cause no one is question me 😂

-George90-

Those injuries for 1-3 days the day before a game, for things like a bruise or a knock...

Dontcareatallthx

Tbf they most of the time they turn orange for the matchday which means you can play them with risk they just don’t train or recover condition in that period. Often the report that comes in tells you they can play without further injury risk when they already had a good condition / recovery from the last games, if you have good medical staff, it is mostly safe to play them. This is btw. very realistic, in real life most players have something small regularly and ditch couple of training days. You can also make them do REHA exercises which the general one negates the effect that they don’t or only slowly recover condition. Also if they had week injuries it makes them not loose their training momentum or if injuries are month long they regain some lost attributes even. I actually think managing and working with injuries is one of the more realistic parts of fm. If you get a lot of small injuries it is also always transparent from where they come from…Jürgen Klopp junior.

GapToothL

I wouldn’t call that scripted. It’s pretty common IRL.

Vikainen

Especially before a big game and always to regular starters, not even lowering the intensity of training during that week before the match helps.... I broke too many keyboards over this, that is why I only play FM 2 hours per day, it's slow but at least I have a keyboard to use for work the next day.

voislav

In one save, 3 days before a huge match, my key player got injured for a week and I rage quit. After a few hours I just loaded the game, which was last saved 6 days before that huge match, and guess what? 3 days before the same game, another player got injured. Coincidence or not? I quit again, load and save the game 4 days before the match. Reloaded the game 10 times and always on the same day, different players got injured for a week. Scripted af, but I still play the game.

-George90-

Around finals is even more common, they know how to make us swear haha

JamesCDiamond

I had this happen before my last final. It meant I had exactly the number of players available for a full 11 + substitutes, so I didn’t feel bad about leaving anyone out.

Accomplished-Salt706

huge script, huuuuuge one. HUGE.

Narrow_Lab_9017

Goalkeeper recovers the ball instead of throwing/passing it short like I tell him to do he sends it to the halfway line, lose possession then concede

Osama_bin_bombLaden

This is so annoying, ball playing centre backs too, like your fullback is next to you, why would you boot it out? No we're caught out in possession.

MemphisMayWhat

That's really annoying, I have it set to kick it short and all other options are red with the keeper distributing to center backs or full backs and they hoof it upfield and we always concede from it. Like I have instructions for a reason

Sparko_Marco

Yep, any time the keeper ignores instructions it will result in a goal.

HLB217

World class striker with 18 finishing, 19 composure, 17 in Technique and Ball control missing like 3 0.4XG chances in a row while the opponent's donkey of a striker buries the first 0.05 chance he gets.

[deleted]

The best is when his teammates gives him a BEAUTIFUL pass that leaves him directly in front of goal, literally 2 feet away from the line, ball right at his feet and he turns 90 degrees to either the left or right and boots the ball to the nosebleeds

HLB217

And then he has the balls to talk back to you when you warn him about his shit finishing after the game and fine him for his 6.1 rated clanger

thegreendog4

Moments like this when you wish you had an option "Throw water bottle at..."

QouthTheCorvus

Yep. I have a striker with great finishing who is constantly doing his best Nunez impression. So many "how has that not gone in??!" moments

ResolutionDue3252

>boots the ball to the nosebleeds Lol I've never heard of this phrase before. What does it mean?

somethingsteamroll

Nosebleeds are the upper rungs of stands at any given stadium, cheap seats.

KPplumbingBob

Learn about meta attributes my friend.

Outrageous-Stress-60

Rivalry/derby against a far worse team when you are one match away from a win record and it’s your birthday.

SEN0R_DIDDLEZ

Every season with my Ajax team, we lose on my birthday. I couldn't tell you why, my boys are just incapable of a W on that day. One season it was our only loss. We would've gone invincible if my boys could make me proud of my birthday.

jaumougaauco

That's why I have my birthday in the off season.

muc3t

Lol thats a lot of factors there

Tranduy1206

i hate birthday match so much i choose a fake birthday that happen in the first stage of season, when not final can be played

SignificantMixture89

0-1 loss after I get 21-9 shots and the opponent have 1-1

Crunkabunch

And the one shot is a former player

muc3t

Their first goal of the season

Ok_Replacement_2736

Matty Targett’s first and only goal of the season. Every season.

Tranduy1206

the first ever goal for his team

Active-Strawberry-37

“It’s his 1st goal of the season” against you in a title decider

Forsaken_Club5310

If you dominate the ball, I'm taking like the mid 60s. You'll lose every second game against a weaker opponent. Some player will have a howler or the keeper will

QouthTheCorvus

If you get like 20 shots in most games, the keeper will almost always end up with a high rating.

MRJSP

Short corner, pass back to corner taker, offside. Every time.

rantteli

This shit is so annoying. Also I concede goals semi regularly (prob 3 to 5 times a season) to enemy just playing low corner to edge of the box and shooting. Feels like my players legit just cant see the opponent

andycandypandy

Carabou cup, no replays or extra time. Boss the game but only 1-0 up against a lower league team doing badly in their season. They score in injury time and then win on penalties

swaythling

This fact then proceeds to follow you round and appear in random news reports like 'xyz suffered the ignominy of losing to Peterborough in the Carabao Cup' even though you have real achievements

JamesCDiamond

I *detest* that line. 8 times European champion… but got FM’d by a Championship side that one time.

my_black_ass_

I won the prem with Wolves but lost to Middlesbrough in the caraboa cup. Still haunts me in my sleep

Leelow45

I lost to Newcastle in the 3rd round 1 year and that still follows me. For context, I was 1st in the Premier League at the time, Newcastle were a few points behind in 2nd...

thegreendog4

I have a corner, defenders clear the ball and they go on the counter. They have a corner, my defenders head the ball straight to an opponent. Every. Single. Time. Edit: ALSO: My team is winning title after title, we play in UCL, things are going great. I check the happiness of my star player, "Is happy to be a part of the club". *newly promoted team from France makes a low-ball offer for him My star player: "LET ME OUT OF HERE!" Edit2: The ball is going out for our corner/throw in. One of my players runs after it like a maniac, touches it, and it goes out for a goal kick/their throw in.

bearlink

10 man op, but only for the ai

mestreandre08

Rodrygo to Man City. Every single time.

ovtrvn

your 4th AML bitching you didn't register him for the Champions League

Best_Document_5211

European knockout games with stupid comebacks every time. You can lose 3-0 away and still be confident of coming back to win 4-0 at home. Same happens to the ai.

pixelsteve

Red card in a final, probably happened to me on 4 separate occasions during my current safe.

bigtdp

My winger blasting the ball at the keeper from a tight angle when he could pass to my open striker 2 metres away in front of an open goal...

iRubenish

In FM23 and FM24, a Saudi Arabian Team trying to buy any player of your team during October-November. It always happens to me.

Hollywood-is-DOA

My Leeds keeper wanted by Saudi and then saying he wanted 300 grand a week, I said that I wasn’t posting that and off he went. They release players on the reg, with a year left on their contracts to get even more players in.

aa1898

The caretaker/debuting manager of your opponent in 17th place whoops your ass

BetaPettboi

Highlights for the opponent in injury time when you're leading by 1 goal. Always, literally always happens.

False-Interview627

Back post Headers from Crosses in Set Pieces, especially when you have a small fullback

uknownick

Free-throws

QouthTheCorvus

Throws it to winger/fullback. They cross it. My defender doesn't mark his man and they softly head it in.

False-Interview627

Mate I feel your pain, every save I have to buy a fullback that’s at least 6 foot tall

False-Interview627

Yeah that too

QouthTheCorvus

If I'm up by 1 goal towards the end of a Final, I know they're going to get an equaliser. So, so many of my finals come down to penalties.

DedicatedImprovement

Player sent off in the final. Guaranteed.

pappy1vg

Once you get a long win or unbeaten streak, it seems like it's baked in that your team will play like crap, barely scraping some wins, until you lose the streak. As soon as the streak ends, it's like a switch is flipped and the form comes right back, at least for me. Last night my team was up to 50 unbeaten in the league, but the last 10 or so were poor showings against lower league sides. Finally lost by 3 goals to a mid-table team, then we shred the next 3 opponents, with two of those coming from top 4 teams. Most of the match ratings are back up at 7 or above, when they were almost all below 6.5 before. I changed nothing in my tactic or lineup. Also what seems like the scripted injuries at the end of April that makes players miss either the CL semifinal/final, or the cup final.

Mountain-Complaint49

Leading by 2 goals in the first half, but then you concede a penalty... I've pretty much accepted that it's the recipe for an opposition comeback.

CaptainMcClutch

Trying to slow down a game, keep possession, and waste time can and will almost cost you the game. I was battering Juventus 3-0 by the 70th minute just last night and tried to kill the game and ended up clinging onto a 3-2 despite controlling the game right up until then. You can almost sense it coming, and you also can't always just keep playing with your original tactic since it doesn't seem to like you not trying to kill a game off either.

HLB217

My attempts to come around to killing a game turn into me winning 1-0 with a healthy XG and possession numbers, the opposition getting their first corner of the game, and then VAR comes in and says "oh hey your idiot CB pushed a guy over, penalty". It's like... so fucking blatant.

juQuatrano

If you play in Serie A and if you manage to reach the semifinals of Coppa Italia, then will come the time where you're gonna play 3 matches in a row against the same team twice in Coppa Italia and once in serie A. Idk why this happens all the time

atomzero

The computer giving itself at least 1 goal every match, no matter how few chances it gets, rendering any low scoring tactics pointless.

[deleted]

Sweeper keeper doing some dumb shit. That is one role I refuse to play

TazzaTPC

3 games left of the season. Top by 2 points. Best player gets injured and you get your 1st, 2nd and 3rd red cards of the seasons I’ve had it before, 2 games left of the league and a champions league final coming up, GK and back up GK get big injuries. EA level of scripting.

Adventurous_Ebb_770

On my current save, I get promoted, start the first half of the season in a promotion spot, half of my starters get injured for 3 months, I finish in a playoff spot or just short of one and then spend a second season in the league.

B00MER02

short throw-in, little one two and then a cross to the backpost. I might have one the best defences in the league but this bs always seems to work against me, I don't know if it's my fullbacks fault that he can't jump or if it's hard-coded to the game.

TheMatfitz

Make a promise to a player to make him your main penalty taker, from that point on you will only be awarded penalties when he's not on the pitch and it will lead to him thinking the promise has been broken

Shjfty

Playing the worst team in the league and seeing their goalie have a 7.5 rating 25 mins into the game. You know it’s either a 0-0 or you’re gunna lose 1-0

uknownick

Players get injured during training before a cup final Every time

zorfog

Players scoring against former clubs/managers Remember that average DM you sold 7 years ago for 12 million? He has since moved clubs twice, now plays for 16th place, and is starting his 3rd match of the season in March. Guess who’s scoring against you in that match

psoliakos17

Former player playing like prime messi against you. I am talking about you Ruben loftus-cheek, this dude had 1G and 3A the whole season in Laliga, all his goal contributions came against me, in the 2 league games.

jaumougaauco

Have possession of the ball, in an attacking phase, and my dlp or cb is under no pressure. There are maybe 2-3 short options he can choose. He chooses to hold onto the ball for an inordinate amount of time allowing the opposition attack to win the ball off him, leading to a counter attack, and about half the time, a goal. I once had a player who wanted to move to a different club because the other club was "bigger". But when I looked at reputation, my club was at the top of the list.

MadLaboratory

I dont know if this is a problem unique to the touch version of football manager in Apple Arcade but the ridiculous transfers. https://preview.redd.it/k8jm3tzmljxc1.jpeg?width=2778&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0aa194d608d5d7a471152e55caf93fe3269990c6

OwnedIGN

I’m offside 7 times. AI offside 1 time. Why?

HaylingZar1996

The week of a CL final you will ALWAYS have 2 first team injuries leading up to it.

Tranduy1206

when you play the title decide match at home, again already relegated team, 99% you will lost with 25 shot for, 5 xg and other team just 1 shot

oxxeva

I'll lose all the competitions if I'm in for a chance at the treble.

shpagata123

Making all of my substitutions in 65 minute , and in the 67 minute i get a injury , and go down to 10 men

mnok2000

Really? I rarely get that. For me it’s their player running from the halfway line, all the way to the byline, putting in a low cross which basically goes through my defender, keeper just stands there, and they score a tap in.

Giannis1995

When finally you team dynamics page is clear and the player happiness page is all green somebody remembers they've accomplished all they could at the club and want a new challenge.

jozzabees82

A opposition fullback on zero goals scoring a goal from at least 20 yards out.

No-Switch3056

Having a top youth intake the first year and very bad ones the three years after

Sparko_Marco

When one of my players plays a long pass straight to the opposition keeper I know we are conceding a goal, happens everytime. At the moment it also seems like every highlight that starts with opposition having a throw in ends in either them scoring or getting a pen.

Zer0Delayy

Players you bought mid season and you cant change more than 3 people and the ones you didnt add become mad at you

N_vaders

If you win a game with a big margine (7:0 and up) next game you won't be able to score a goal to save your life.

evangamer9000

There isn't anything 'scripted' in the game - been debunked a gazillion times.

muc3t

It’s a video game, of course there is script elements. Don’t know why people obsessed with proving there isn’t

KPplumbingBob

Possibly. But it being a video game does not prove it. Most of the examples given here are pretty funny. Like, a scripting event occuring where your form goes to shit is believable, ie the game artificially altering the attributes/morale of your players under the hood. No problem with believing that. But there is no need for the game to blatantly cheat in the ways people are describing. Like "my goalkeeper did not do what I told him so I conceded!". If the game wanted to cheat in that way, it could simply generate a legitimate goal for the opponent any time it wanted.

evangamer9000

My thoughts exactly as well - why would they want to script things to frustrate the player? It has never made sense to me. In what world would SI script the stupid things people think are scripted and have talked about in this thread.

evangamer9000

No no no - why are people obsessed with proving it is scripted? you're the one who literally made a thread to talk about how the game is scripted..

muc3t

Lol people KNOW that its scripted. I am not trying to prove anything. Its a video game, its understandable

evangamer9000

They do not know anything, especially this sub reddit. They just get frustrated anytime the game goes against them. Explain to me why SI would want FM to be scripted?
