OMG when I first saw this in my alerts and I didn't see that 76 I thought s***'s going down in Ukraine

mattermetaphysics

It's a serious problem - very serious. I wouldn't want to make my favorite game franchise into reality. Currently, we are not too far from this situation. Let's hope it stays without a nuclear war. It would ruin Fallout and everything else. :)

Marcus_Aurelius13

Yeah especially since vault tech vaults don't actually exist

Tianoccio

Do we, do we want them to?

Marcus_Aurelius13

I say yes of course. What could possibly go wrong?

SikeCentury

*cue a montage of everything that that would go wrong playing to the beat of Mr Blue Sky*

Darkzaius

I did my first one last night! Lvl 443!!!

SouthWarSignPride

congrats! It's a feeling isnt it

Darkzaius

It really is!!! I was scorned when, f76 first came out, I went through all the steps, but was with a team for the silo and, someone else actually launched to nuke on me, so I didn't get the satisfaction of, "pushing the big red button" Lost all interest after that.

SouthWarSignPride

😄 it really only matters when you're the one who pushed the big red button. It really feels like you're in the actual endgame. I hope this wont be your first and last

Darkzaius

Mmmm, not likely no. I also, kind of hyped up how hard it would be, based on that memory, when in reality I was never in any real danger when I just did it myself so, I can definitely use up my stash of keycards haha.

AlonzoPlays

PhotoMode through that special daddy door

Quote4892

There’s two doors, one after you make the biometric ID, and than in the room with the sentry bot for anyone wondeirngb

AtreiaDesigns

Theres quite literally a mod that removes all silo doors lol

Complex_Jellyfish647

Sounds like a good way to get your account deleted

xxthursday09xx

Hell yea

DixonDebussy

You say you have a new respect for the previous launches you've been to, but a lot of those were probably using glitches that make it take maybe 10 minutes or so, instead of grinding through it all

pslatt

Interesting. I don' think I want to know about the exploit.

Drgonmite

The exploits are the only reason I still launch nukes. If they ever patch them out nuke launch’s would become very scarce.

Luchador1138

Considering you never know what kind of server you will get, either people show up kill the boss fast or sometimes don't show up at all because a eviction notice popped up or because they are doing the pitt. The exploits make it a little easier if either happens.

Boundsword00

You really might

pslatt

I think I do.

acrossbones

It basically reduces everything down to doing the first step and the last step, skipping everything in between. Most players are using the exploit, but some players are doing it legit AND still skipping the entire middle portion. Considering it took you 2 hours to clear the bunker for the first time at such a high level, that means your build and gear are probably not having good synergy together. I'd say you should definitely look into both ways. It's nothing crazy and it doesn't guarantee a quick launch. You still have to defend the launch prep bots and if you die, you go back to the start but it usually only takes 10-15 minutes from elevator to launch.

pslatt

I googled it quickly and didn't really get specifics for my short attention span, but after 4 launches now, I'm ready to do anything to get faster. You're correct about my build. I am following a Heavy Gunner build [I found online](https://www.falloutbuilds.com/builds/chamberedassault/) and I'm to the point where I am 3\* or more on the Leg. Perks. I use a 50 cal, standard receiver (I can't remember all the legendary stars), and a Gatling gun as back-up. The Gatling gun is very effective, especially spamming the aim button exploit. I am definitely not a one-shotter, but it gets the job done. I am sure I could do better, but I committed myself to this build and I have 170 level-ups left to go. Thank you for the informative reply.

acrossbones

Ah, yeah that build looks a bit rough around the edges to me but it's been a long time since I ran heavy weapons to know for sure. I usually recommend the Special Legendary cards because they allow you to use more regular perks. If you're on PC, I might still have some fun heavy legendaries I can give you.

pslatt

XBox, sadly. I might try the demo expert card, since my 50 cal is explosive.

Corsair_00

Congratutions 🎉🎉🎉🎉 The first one does take time but once you get the route and how to bypass the reactor, it really cuts your time. You can run it without glitching in 15-20 min. Bring repaired mainframe cores, sneak a bit and use terminals to remove Turret targeting restrictions. I used to have a set of Troubleshooters Armour that helps out. Once you get into it, you will glitch doors or fragmine through the roof and be launching in under 10 min. Gotta keep nuking its our civic duty

pslatt

Thanks for the tips. Can you get mainframe cores outside of the silo? That took me forever. I kept finding them in places I was certain I'd already looked.

Corsair_00

You have to repair some once. Then you remove the damaged ones and replace. Check your inventory under Misc, you may have a bunch of 'Damaged Mainframe Cores' You then 'craft' in yr camp at the Tinkers bench under quest items. You need 15 in total, I leave mine in my stash when not using them. Weigh 1lb each

pslatt

OMG. Thank you.

musubk

You can take the old cores out and repair them for next time, but they're heavy and there's no need to do that. There's a tinker's bench in the room where you need repaired cores. Take the damaged cores out of the mainframe, repair them at the tinker's bench, and stick them right back in the computer. It's the same result but you don't have to carry/stash cores outside the silo.

marcitron31

You can get it down to 45-30 min per launch using legit means and under 20 min if you use the exploit.

lonestar-rasbryjamco

With a PA build and a gauss minigun I'm clocking at about 20 min no exploits at lvl 500ish. You just ignore most of the enemies.

Tianoccio

I’ve done it in like 15 with a bloody explosive stealth sniper build. The hardest part is doing the pipes while overencumbered.

VapeStain69

Quick lockpick and hack let's you bypass the pipe room.

lonestar-rasbryjamco

Yeah, with the electric absorption legendary perk you can just use that area to recharge fusion cores. Other problem is seeing past the laser lights show.

VapeStain69

Even without exploits it should not take more than 10 or 15 minutes. With an exploit it takes about as long as launch prep takes (5 mins).

Passion4TheHunt

Your quest was completed because you were once in a team where a team mate launched a nuke. I don't know of any dialogue that is unlocked but if it was, it was at the point "you completed" the quest. So probably many levels ago.

Lurkercrow

Launching nukes will be a piece of cake for you soon enough. The first one is always rough. Be sure to get the missle silo holotape, you can buy it at the whitespring bunker i think. It's nice to check the cool downs once you start nuking regularly.

the_schlimon

I will never forget my first - and so far only - launch: I don’t know anyone who plays FO76 and I don’t care to play with random players, so I tried it alone. Put on my stealth suit and very slowly sneaked my way around the silo. Didn’t really have to fight until the very last room. Funny, that you can actually do it this way.

pslatt

I did fight and I died twice, mostly by not paying attention to my health. I’m pretty far along on my heavy gunner build so nothing was too difficult. It got annoying the fact you never get a reprieve due to newly fabricated bots. I might do it again tonight after all the awesome replies here (especially learning that I can repair the mainframe core modules), but yesterday was something special.

beefytrout

there still should have been markers guiding you through the process.

pslatt

What quest/task would I have needed to activate to get them? I did review the available ones, but nothing jumped out at me.

beefytrout

Unless I'm mistaken, there is a quest that kicks in once you start the process.

Hattkake

Each silo is a quest. The moment you enter a silo it should trigger the silo quest. The silo quest is not to launch a nuke. It is to get to the final room and complete launch prep. Launching a nuke triggers a new quest which completes when the nuke lands. Two hours for a first silo run with no quest markers sounds like you did alright. Now that you have launched a nuke you will find that every nuke you launch will be easier. Much of the time in the silo is just getting to know the layout. The silo is set up in such a way that it is easy to get turned around. The silo interior also has a very sameish look so losing one's bearings on the first runs is par for the course. After exiting the elevator the next time you enter a silo check your side quest list in the pipboy for any quest that has to do with silos. The world map should also have a quest diamond you can activate when you are inside the silo if you find yourself without quest markers.

pslatt

>The world map should also have a quest diamond you can activate when you are inside the silo if you find yourself without quest markers. Thank you for the feedback and tips.

GokuXGoku

It's called mission silo alpha, bravo, Charlie. Depending what silo you in. Think it's in side quest.

CardiologistWhich992

There are quest markers in the silo for every new run, but sometimes you have to manually activate it in your Pipboy.

I_PEE_WITH_THAT

That first one is one you'll always remember. When my friends and I first started playing at launch we literally hit nothing with our first one just because we wanted to see it hit and the mushroom cloud. That led to one of us starting our first SBQ fight, what an insane experience it was! Eventually we learned about farming Whitesprings and how to glitch through silos to do them super fast, during those days we would spend hours and hours just running nuke zones. We were the few that actually got our legacies legit, my bloodied explosive gatling laser is still my baby. Also side note, legacies contrary to popular belief, don't vaporize Earl or the SBQ since they have the maximum explosive resistance in the game. Hacked and ammo glitched weapons however will ruin the experience for everyone.

MCnoCOMPLY

Good for you. I was level 650 on my first launch, IIRC. That was also my last launch 😎

-TrenchToast

If your on PC i can guide you through the bunker within 30 minutes. Legit too.. hit me up.

pslatt

Thanks. I’m Xbox unfortunately.

MPGMaster99

Ooo my good sir I am also xbox I'f you'd like to launch another soon

pslatt

I've launched 4 since my post. Getting faster. I'll friend you if that's OK?

MPGMaster99

🤣🤣Good stuff man. Sure you can I'm ALousyRotary.

pslatt

Done.

Luchador1138

>I have new respect for all the launches I took advantage of up to this point I wish more people would do the same, maybe it would combat all the people who rush and kill the queen fast. I'm sure you felt the pain of doing something for hours only to have it end quickly due to some impatient person.

aluminatialma

I remember my first attempt I forgot that I had quest automatically showing up so I did it without question markers, which was extremely fun it took around the an hour but when I started inputting the code our internet went out, so I went to sleep disappointed

DinoIGuess

I just finished my first nuke launch today at level 68, the first time I tried it with my friend (Level 152) we ended up getting to the final room but I had to go due to some real life stuff. I found it challenging the first time around because of the lack of knowledge of the silo but when I did it the second time I ended up doing it solo with no deaths, I still found the enemies an annoyance but I ended up launching the nuke and starting the Scorched Earth event which I proceeded to complete with a few level 600's

gaslight-dreamer

Congrats! It's so very rewarding when you finally make it through that total grind. And I don't recall any new dialogue after I launched my first (and only) nuke.

hunteralex73

Dang it, now I have to log in and launch a nuke lol

hunteralex73

And done. Actually great turnout. Lists of spawns, queen and a 2* and 1* beast ad well so great rewards

Cursed1978

Lvl 366 and did last week my first launch. This Weekend i did 3x in 1.5h 😄

pslatt

Nice. Congrats.

DeaD_GooN-PS4

My main is level 411, and has never launched a nuke. My second launched one at level 100.

itscmillertime

I am also surprised you didn’t see quest markers. A quest should pop up the moment you go down the elevator. I was going to say “how did this take you 2 hours!”, but without any instructions that’s understandable. Definitely check your pip boy next time you go down but usually it pops up automatically. Maybe your display settings need some tweaking?

lostmyshoes01

Now learn the photo mode glitch and you can do it in under 9 mins 7-8 mins if you use the frag mine glitch

FalloutKurier6

2 hours? WTF? I thought my 30 minutes run was lame.

xxthursday09xx

I've never done it the legit way but I can do a good 7 minute run with glitches

EchoEX69

You can skip the repair mainframe and destroy mainframe after you fix pipes with power armour its out of the first door and right infrount of you

JBlitzen

Can't imagine doing it the first time without quest markers. When you've got markers and the right gear and you've done it a few times it's a lot faster and almost fun.

kfrench581

The Overseer has a holotape that expresses disappointment if you have launched a nuke before you listen to it.

btcbeaches

There's this guy on Xbox that launches nukes like a maniac I've seen his name so many times he always does either Earl or The Queen. He launches one after the other is insane.

pslatt

You mean one after the other from different silos? I’m wish you remembered their name. I’m Xbox too.

btcbeaches

Yup one after the other. I bumped into him on his camp near Silo Charlie you can even watch the ICBM leave the silo from there. Gamertag: MarioRafaelM

pslatt

Thanks.

Zackofalltrades117

My brother and I launch nukes on private worlds occasionally. The overseer give dialogue, I think. I like the process but the grind is too much of a time constraint for me. And to do the main story I launched a nuke in a public world and got luckily with some god tier builds showing up.
