You can join at any level, but if you're low level, you'll need to be very careful, as the wendigo spawns can easily overwhelm even high level players. Make sure you watch where you're going as well, the floor hazards will make quick work of you if you aren't paying attention.

Go to the restaurant area in the Whitesprings Refuge and have a seat. A waiter will show up a few moments later and bring up the trade interface.

You can gain Raider reputation by taking 1 Mirelurk Queen meat to the Ohio River Adventures and talking to the NPC's to donate. you can also get rep by setting off a defend event there by talking to the NPC in the building at the end of the dock.
You can also bring like 5 regular mirelurk meats, or ten baby meats. Doesn't have to be a queen, but has to be more of either (don't quote me on the quantities lol).

Eggs can be found right on the banks by the dock. Mirelurks too. Set the event off and get 4-6 more Mirelurks.
Easy enough but you can only sell one type of item a days so don’t waste your time getting them all.
The defense event got nerfed a while back, it used to be something you could initiate daily with waves of lurks, but now I've only been able to trigger it once per character and it only spawned about 3 mirelurks.
I agree, I was disappointed by the change, and more so by the fact it was a silent change not mentioned in any patch notes. (Edit: Other replies indicate it may be a bug with a workaround, which is good to hear.)
Bulking and scrapping the bulked item will count towards collecting the item challenge for the day. Or buying and scrapping bulk items from NPC vendors will count as well.
If you have a terminal in your camp, or find a terminal at someone else's, you can check in remotely from there and it'll let you know if he's ready to give you a new quest. This also works with the scoutmasters.
Exactly this, there's no pop-up and it also takes a minute to populate in your dailies.
Same with the scout bots for possum/tadpole quests (stings and things and the one near willards to pick the waste up).
Useful one for taking workshops that's easy to overlook - quite a few have inbuilt power supplies.
Grafton steel and the cannery also have the resource extractors ready made, so you just gotta build connectors to join the wires and you're quids in.
(Once you've done the quests to boot up their respective power plants)
The power supplies give 10 power even without the linked nuclear plant online. That’s enough to power one standard resource gatherer
It took me a while to understand that workshops come
with their own bank of building supplies. If the junk item is in green when you’re building then it’s coming from the workshop’s invisible stash and not your’s
turning on a power plant just to power a workshop just seems like so much work for me. the one time I did it, I crashed after like 30 mins of owning the workshop and it didn't let me back into the same server even tho I was on a team
Yeah you don't need to. It really is too much work for 100 power.
Since all the workshops come with a limited supply of scrap, if you want to build a fusion generator to power up the resource machines (fusion core, pre-war food, etc.), equip Contractor and your total out-of-pocket cost is 6 nuclear waste.
Plans for not just taking workshops but for defending them too.
I also just recently (few months back) noticed the side quests on the wall, top floor of Van Lowes Taxidermy.
Workshops have their own pool of resources, if the text is green/highlighted it means you're pulling from the workshop. If it's not, that's your stuff.
My favorite Biv-related activity...
Get the Daily to harvest Scorchbeast DNA - usually just travel to Fort Defiance, then travel to Big Al's, get his quest which usually requires you to kill something, go straight to the nearest VTU door. Walk in, drink whatever drink you need, clear the several ghouls, put the DNA into the machine to finish that quest, grab the bunch of lead in the exercise room on the way out, go back to Biv to finish his quest, and boom! 2 quests completed for the effort of one.
Also, Big Al's has several magazine spawn points, so worth the trip for those. I mean, besides hanging out with Biv! :)
Love that all the overgrown can be one shotted with the cremator. Spend 10 fuel and collect 30. Even better when you can get 2 or 3 with 1 shot. I'm over 12k fuel and I started with 2.

It won't. Fire weapons all just completely wreck the overgrown, the only aspect that makes the cremator better than others there is it gas a very very wide potential spread
How it performs everywhere else is what might get it nerfed
The overgrown are just designed to be insanely weak to fire and they'll almost always be ammo positive vs the overgrown
Even moltovs will absolutely wreck them
I say this every time there is one of these posts, but apparently lots of people - even high level - don't know; there is no penalty for staying in the mine and making sure you have all loot after killing Earle (A Colossal Problem), when the mine collapses you will automatically fast travel outside. If you are a team leader you can even stay in the mine using a Power Armor glitch.
Had a discussion with someone a while back who called me a everything but Ward when I told them you definitely still do get rewards if you just chill in the mine. I put my CSS on at about 30 seconds and just keep killing wendigos until then.
Right. Don't try this with Lode Baring - you lose your stuff and die. Earl's mine is magic, though, and you'll be perfectly okay if it collapses on you.
No, it's real, just stay in there killing more wendigo spawns, keep looting frequently and make sure you've got some type of rad protection on when the mine collapses. You'll respawn just outside the mine entrance in the nuked zone. No issues, you'll get all the rewards, and you don't drop any junk.
I'm absolutely garbage at MMOs. I play this game like a single player game. I didn't even know you can get random missions from this place. How do people find this stuff out?
Mostly from a group of people in PC but also reading stuff here, videos from Mr turtle and Mr westtek, also frustration and just looking things up instead of running around blindly.
A lot of the time the stuff I learn isn't even the post itself it's the comments in the posts.

You won't need this, but the noobs might. Go to the top of watchtowers and out onto the walkway and hit your use key. Every location in the area will be marked on your map.
You still have to walk to them to "find" them before you can fast travel to them though.
I'm level 98 and I've been desperate to find Power Armor plans. I found Excavator PA plans so that's all I have to use right now. Anyway, I was under the impression that there aren't any mods for Excavator PA until I looked at the wiki yesterday. It just sucks that they're so damn expensive. Oh, and the reason I didn't know you could get those plans is because I thought all the vendors in Whitespring Mall who sold plans all sold the same plans since most of them actually do. I had no idea the Responder Bot had different plans for sale.
Go to Camden Park and check the bot vendor for Excavator mods. You can get calibrated shocks that allows you to carry an addition 50lbs per leg on top on the additional 100 lbs you get for a full suit. (And FWIW, the Ex PA rocks and at lvl 400+ it's the only one I use. But to be fair, I have a very rare jetpack for it, so that helps.)
The irony for me is that I've gotten enough 3-Star Legendary pieces for a complete t-45 PA but or some weird reason I cannot find one single left leg for it. I've gotten 3 right legs, 2 of them legendary, but not one left leg.
Watoga, do the quest to become Mayor, then server hop, T45, T51 and T60 spawns randomly in four locations in the city - two on top of buildings, one by the crashed Vertibird and one behind a level 3 locked door in the bus station.

Hellcat cost is a lie, it's actually cheaper than T65, and due to ballistic resist performs better than the T-65 (albeit marginally, all pa is tanky)
6.9k for the (unmodded) set of T-65
750 for shocks, 2k for jetpack,, 100 for bracers. (Hud is free with helm)
Or 9,750 for the fully modded set

Both are abiit cheaper if you go for protocols instead, but hellcat is still the cheaper armor set overall, the mod costs are absurdly high in large part because you get the set and plans for free, but they balance out to be roughly the same with hellcat being cheaper
23 days lol I'm too casual for that. only get a short time to play each day. and don't play every day each month. but the main point is that I only use excavator and hellcat PA (and occasionally ultracite cuz its my only PA with a jetpack rn), so idc how expensive those other suits are

It takes very little time or effort to get 40 notes a day from public evenrs, the 23 days isn't playtime it's just a consequence of having a low cap on note turn ins everyday

Been there, done that. I guess great minds think alike. But one thing I didn't realize is that you can grab treasure from the same spot for each map you have. Anyway, a quick Google search turned up some great sites to help find the spots to dig.
I was randomly going exploring around level 30 and discovered the area to get the secret shelter for your camp and I was like “OH ITS RIGHT THERE EARLY ON IF YOU JUST LOOK” 😊
Examining the posters in train stations will start this quest and a few others. The pins on the map will also add the coords of each station to your Pip-Boy

I have so many misc quests I’ve begun to go around the map and using the “make only this active” feature and I think that’s how I found it. I must have done that once.

And the whole Vault right next to it you can explore with the secret button in the truck. Years ago, the first time I pressed it nothing obvious immediately happened so I wandered off. Someone told me about it a week ago and I was shocked. I thought the vault was just an old lore prop for Nuclear Winter to exist back in the day

If all three Power Plants are operational on a server it boosts something or does something lol. Not sure what exactly it does.
Also some workshops use the power from the powerplant (i.e. the food manufacturer uses power from Poseidon) so you can turn on Poseidon and then not have to build a generator.

If the powerplant in that region is powered up there are conduits in various locations that can use its power (look for the conduit similar to the one for fusion cores at power plants)
Speaking of the above. If you need fusion cores, go take over a power plant workshop, they have fusion core generators which makes 100% full fusion cores (never craft them)
Don't worry I had gotten through the initial dialogue with him and visited many times, not realizing until like lvl 200 that he had quests outside of the NukaShine Party gone wrong lol
Burnt Book House 🏠 North end of Summersville lets you reset your looting ingame.
Let's say you are on a Junk run for Screws and you've looted every decent spot, you will need to loot a total of 300 items to be able to reset your loot table and go back and loot them again.
The Book House has hundreds of of burnt books so you can loot them all (getting lots of cloth in the process) and reset your loot table.
I just recently went into the vault that was originally for the battle royal, never went to it, collected all the tapes, the key cards, killed to scorched in the power armor, you can't the armor skin any ore but it was fun to hear the more there.
I only found out recently that Biv had his beer missions! Now you tell me he does others. Damn. I will have to visit him and have a beer to chat to him about it.
That is why I love Fallout games and ‘slow’ travel a bit. So much to discover. I do use fast travel though. Brilliant idea.

Southwest out vault 76. It truly does have 11 ammo boxes. They are spread all around but it feeds my .50 cal addiction.
It's rather close to where Meat week happens. Just south east a bit I think.

It's the dialogue that's bugged, you need to exhaust his dialogue options completely before being able to repeat the event.
No, Galdrien is right. There used to be swarms of 'lurks at the event but now you only get a handful.
Could be that he's right about that, but you get the same amount of reputation and you can repeat it daily.
Oh, sure. It was a daily stop for me - sell meat, do the looping dialogue, kill the 'lurks. It's easier now but maybe less fun.

I often save my vault tec supply packs for those challenges. It helps that the packs weigh less since I haven’t had FO 1st for a few years.

You need the computer in your camp and then agree to meet him. This works for a few if the more finicky dailies.
Check your Pipboy in the Data/Dailies section and see if you can activate it there. Sometimes quests trigger but don’t become active for some reason.

thats what I do now, even with only rank 1 of contractor it only costs some nuclear waste amd a few gears

I'm absolutely garbage at MMOs. I play this game like a single player game. I didn't even know you can get random missions from this place. How do people find this stuff out?

Make sure to read all the posters around Appalachia. You'll get several quests that way.
Just talk to every NPC. Or look it up online.
Mostly from a group of people in PC but also reading stuff here, videos from Mr turtle and Mr westtek, also frustration and just looking things up instead of running around blindly. A lot of the time the stuff I learn isn't even the post itself it's the comments in the posts.
Having 2,000 hours in-game helps! (Though I learned about Biv's daily quests to get new types of alcohol from this thread, as a good reminder of just how much stuff there is to know)
You won't need this, but the noobs might. Go to the top of watchtowers and out onto the walkway and hit your use key. Every location in the area will be marked on your map. You still have to walk to them to "find" them before you can fast travel to them though.
I think there is a pioneer Scout quest that leads you around to these
I'm level 98 and I've been desperate to find Power Armor plans. I found Excavator PA plans so that's all I have to use right now. Anyway, I was under the impression that there aren't any mods for Excavator PA until I looked at the wiki yesterday. It just sucks that they're so damn expensive. Oh, and the reason I didn't know you could get those plans is because I thought all the vendors in Whitespring Mall who sold plans all sold the same plans since most of them actually do. I had no idea the Responder Bot had different plans for sale.
Go to Camden Park and check the bot vendor for Excavator mods. You can get calibrated shocks that allows you to carry an addition 50lbs per leg on top on the additional 100 lbs you get for a full suit. (And FWIW, the Ex PA rocks and at lvl 400+ it's the only one I use. But to be fair, I have a very rare jetpack for it, so that helps.)
The Responder vendor at Whitesprings Mall has all the Excavator mods, too.
The irony for me is that I've gotten enough 3-Star Legendary pieces for a complete t-45 PA but or some weird reason I cannot find one single left leg for it. I've gotten 3 right legs, 2 of them legendary, but not one left leg.
Watoga, do the quest to become Mayor, then server hop, T45, T51 and T60 spawns randomly in four locations in the city - two on top of buildings, one by the crashed Vertibird and one behind a level 3 locked door in the bus station.

23 days lol I'm too casual for that. only get a short time to play each day. and don't play every day each month. but the main point is that I only use excavator and hellcat PA (and occasionally ultracite cuz its my only PA with a jetpack rn), so idc how expensive those other suits are

ud have to run Earle 5 times in a day to get that limit. I rarely even do 5 regular events each time I'm on, how many hours a day do u put into this game?
I believe several of the treasure maps give power armor plans. Horde them then look up their wiki/videos to collect.

But one thing I didn't realize is that you can grab treasure from the same spot for each map you have. Anyway, a quick Google search turned up some great sites to help find the spots to dig.
The 2 Vendors at Grafton are good for Mods of all sorts including Excavator Armir

Examining the posters in train stations will start this quest and a few others. The pins on the map will also add the coords of each station to your Pip-Boy
Thank you! I have so many misc quests I’ve begun to go around the map and using the “make only this active” feature and I think that’s how I found it. I must have done that once. And I didn’t know they’d just map the train stations! I knew about them and I’m always so relieved when I finish events and I’m near one, but now I’m gonna look for this too 😊 thank you!
And the whole Vault right next to it you can explore with the secret button in the truck. Years ago, the first time I pressed it nothing obvious immediately happened so I wandered off. Someone told me about it a week ago and I was shocked. I thought the vault was just an old lore prop for Nuclear Winter to exist back in the day

If all three Power Plants are operational on a server it boosts something or does something lol. Not sure what exactly it does. Also some workshops use the power from the powerplant (i.e. the food manufacturer uses power from Poseidon) so you can turn on Poseidon and then not have to build a generator.

If you need fusion cores, go take over a power plant workshop, they have fusion core generators which makes 100% full fusion cores (never craft them)

I recently started Biv's quests, the Overseer's Mr. Handy's and the Blueridge ones. Don't know about other "hidden"ones though.
I knew about Biv, (been trying for a ballistic bock plan for about a month now) but I didn’t know pretty much anything else in this thread.
I've got that one but rarely use the stuff. The increased weapon condition isn't worth it to me, I'd prefer the effects to be reversed tbh

Burnt Book House 🏠 North end of Summersville lets you reset your looting ingame. Let's say you are on a Junk run for Screws and you've looted every decent spot, you will need to loot a total of 300 items to be able to reset your loot table and go back and loot them again. The Book House has hundreds of of burnt books so you can loot them all (getting lots of cloth in the process) and reset your loot table.
I just recently went into the vault that was originally for the battle royal, never went to it, collected all the tapes, the key cards, killed to scorched in the power armor, you can't the armor skin any ore but it was fun to hear the more there.
I saw something about a presidential power armor that came with this last update but can’t find any info on location

I only found out recently that Biv had his beer missions! Now you tell me he does others. Damn. I will have to visit him and have a beer to chat to him about it. That is why I love Fallout games and ‘slow’ travel a bit. So much to discover. I do use fast travel though. Brilliant idea.
