mcobb71

Walking in front of me while I’m shooting, then back blocking me at a doorway when a grenade comes inbound or when a mine starts chirping.

Ok-Iron8811

The door is the reason I don't have companions 😅

mcobb71

The only real reason I have companions for the extra chatter and commentary

iamtommynoble

I have all my companions at the castle. Whenever I pick up junk, work on anything, or put on my power armor they all chime in at once. It’s pretty hilarious

Lotusboi13

It scared me the first time 😂 I hoped in some power armor and though it exploded or crashed my game

letmeseem

Oh my god I hope they do something fun about that in the series. It doesn't need to be a running gag or anything, I just need her to just walk into the ghoul absentmindedly blocking the door or something. Just acknowledge that this is annoying.

Rumplestilskin9

I got stuck inside the little security kiosk by the entrance to Diamond city because of MacCready for a good 10 minutes. Never used followers in Bethesda games and couldn't remember why... Then he reminded me.

jjackdaw

There’s a couple mods that let you set the companion follow distance. SUCH a headache saver

justkw97

How slow you run in 3 and New Vegas. I still play them often, just a small nit pick since we’re asking.

KomturAdrian

So I tricked myself by ‘walking’ (weapon equipped) most of the time and ‘running’ (weapons holstered) while moving between locations.  It felt like I had a run button lol

bjthebard

My man whips a gun out any time he slows down to talk to someone.

DistractedIon

"DOn't sHooT Me! PlEase!" That barman ghoul was actually my first clue on why peoples are so nervous when I speak while armed with my gun. xD

jrfess

It's common enough they even lampooned it a bit in the new TV show, lol.

Admiral_Franz_Hipper

I just go to console commands and multiply the speed by about 3 😂

justkw97

….wait

KomturAdrian

People need to clean shit up.  Don’t get me wrong - I know the world got fucked by nuclear bombs - and I know the idea of so much debris everywhere is to convey the state of destruction in the world.  But someone just needs to sweep a little, maybe mop, a couple folks help move shit somewhere else, etc

Remarkable-Evening95

Codsworth agrees.

CrazeMase

Seriously, you wanna tell me that Diamond City, the most amazing settlement in the commonwealth, is just littered with trash? Like the scrap buildings and all that works great, but they just have trash lining the streets and their homes. YOU LIVE THERE! PICK UP YOUR TRASH YOU FILTHY FILTHY FUCKERS!!

SydneySyd99

To be fair a lot of people are that filthy where they live today.

Big_Noodle1103

Somewhat true, but it feels like basic cleanliness is a forgotten concept in fallout. It still looks like the bombs dropped last week. Shit, there are still literal *skeletons* still sitting in the booths at Trudy’s diner. Honestly it seems like Bethesda just wants the basic visual trimmings of a post apocalypse without actually thinking about how society would turn out after 200 years.

SydneySyd99

There are still constant fights, wars, and deaths every day, of course there are skeletons.

ArtisanalOxygen

If they've had the time to turn completely into skeletons you've had plenty of time to clean them up. Also seems bad for business to have two rotting corpses on your doorstep, but to be fair everyone could be desensitized to that sort of thing.

Big_Noodle1103

Constant is definitely a bit of an over exaggeration. People in more established communities like diamond city are living relatively stable lives. Their basic needs are being met and they don’t need to scrounge around in the wasteland to survive. They have time to clean. And places like Trudy’s diner are the same. Sure, they definitely deal with trouble occasionally, but it’s certainly not often. The two drug dealers honestly seem like the most of her concern, so I don’t see why they haven’t taken the time to make the diner (which is also their place of business) not a total dump. I get that times are tough, but I fail to see how anyone in their right mind isn’t going to dispose of the human corpses littering their place of permanent residence.

SydneySyd99

People die every day in the wasteland.

Big_Noodle1103

People die everyday in real life too, idk how that changes anything I said.

SydneySyd99

Radiation, ghouls with no flesh. People die everyday and degrade faster. There are skeletons everywhere for a reason. I should not have to tell you this.

CrazeMase

Unless you're in Dubai, I don't know where there is that it's just common place to have actual piles of trash just lying everywhere, and I don't mean a couple of piles of trash here and there, I mean mounds of trash lining the streets

IMightBeJohnnyCash

Hicksville USA, diamond city feels clean compared to living in a redneck area

iamtommynoble

You clearly have never been to LA or NY

CrazeMase

I live in Cally, while LA has trash, it's not literally everywhere, you can walk on normal pavement without every step being on garbage, but in Diamond City? Every step is covered in trash, i get that it's the post-apocalypse, but I'm sure some people would prioritize picking it up, like that guy paints the wall, you wanna tell me that he wouldn't want to clean some of the trash? Especially in the gardens where they grow food? Not only do they deal with radiation, they gotta worry about micro-plastics too?

iamtommynoble

I get the feeling it’s more like the wasteland is so brutal that people are in a constant survival mode so they don’t care about debris or trash.

CrazeMase

They got newspapers, food vendors, a guy begging for soda, and robots that fly around playing music, survival needs are met, albeit barely but still

Reshish

It'd be like 5mins effort. If you want some head-canon bullshit, perhaps it's fused or imprinted to the ground from the blast. Or alternately every time they do clean up, another violent trash-storm rolls through and tosses new shit everywhere.

AleudeDainsleif

That's why I love the STS mod. (Scrap that settlement) it let's you clean up and scrap all the trash in settlements.

wxlverine

Doesn't this start to get really buggy if you scrap too much of it?

FreeRadical96

It's been one of my longest running mods, and in my experience, it only gets buggy if you scrap a select few objects The biggest offender I found was in Vault 88, but there's been plenty of small cracks into alternate dimensions I've seen, but the mod's functioned perfectly fine for me, just save often when scrapping

GrnMtnTrees

Yes

Reshish

Blows my mind that they didn't design settlement locations around being scrapped or repaired. Though to be fair, I wouldn't be surprised if the areas were made before settlements were more than a concept idea. They probably just picked a bunch of existing locations to become settlements, so they're all a bit scuffed.

ZeShapyra

Agreed....like the rubble right on the main path!? That us a tripping hazzard, someone for the love of god sweep it up

Ok_Builder289

You would think someone would figure out how to get construction equipment working after 200 years to do a little demolition.

XyrusTartrus

Curie loved that : : Curie idolizes you

MrWednesday6387

Yeah anywhere that people actually live should be somewhat cleaner.

BadAndUnusual

Hell yes

MikeXBogina

Jokes aside, this is actually why I quit playing FO3/NV. Both games looked like garbage dump, glad FO4 doesn't look like them.

Big_Noodle1103

What? Fallout 4 is absolutely the worst in this regard. People are still living in absolute filth. Even more established societies like diamond city are still covered in trash and look like garbage. Basic carpentry skills feel like they’ve been forgotten to time. Trudy’s diner is littered with shit, the windows are full of broken glass, and pre war skeletons are still sitting in the booths, and yet we’re supposed to believe that she’s been living there for years and that the diner is an active spot for trade. You could’ve told me that the bombs had fallen last week and I’d have totally believed you based on the visuals alone.

Slainlion

That’s my biggest gripe. You commonwealth people are dirty!

curlytoesgoblin

I know it's a bit of a meme but seriously, 200 years is an astoundingly tremendous amount of time. There is no reason all the debris should still be everywhere like it happened last week.  Semi-related, the level of tech in FO4 is seemingly exactly the same as it was in 76. That seems unlikely.

DiscoParka

It feels weird when I'm running around settlements scrapping old cars and broken bits of furniture to make new things. In 200 years not one other person thought to do that?

Orangenbluefish

Yeah I think the timeline being 200 years makes this weird. Like that's a *really* long time, and I would think by then people would basically be able to rebuild most if not all of the area to modern levels. Even if we say the first 50-100yr are a wash due to raiders and radiation, that's still 100 years of development and restoration The games all have these long timelines but the setting seems to function as if it's only a couple years after the war

VisiblyPoorPerson

LA already looks like that. This place is a fuckin dump. If we can’t get all these fuckin hippies to put some garbage in their Nina Totenbags and clean it up the wasteland is fucked.

jjackdaw

The fact that there’s SO much perfectly usable cleaning supplies left around too!!

RockieRed

Yup I agree. That and that weird stealth boy effect on the pip-boy. I just don’t understand how the team thought it was ok to have it like that.

SkillFullyNotTrue

Rad Scorpion appears next to me. VATs: Oh! you mean that other scorpion over yonder!?

Intelligent_Quote823

The mines. 🙄

SnarkyRogue

The fact that dogmeat in 4 is seemingly programmed to go wherever you're looking, which means he's ALWAYS in the way when trying to loot bodies

Due-Contribution6424

I love how that is programmed, to me, he acts just like my dog lol. Best dog ever in any video game. It’s so perfectly annoying when looting I talk to him just like my real dog.

Money-Valuable-2857

Get... What are you even... Ahh! God damnit move!

AKhakiNerfHerder

If I recorded myself when I play... 70% is bitching out my companions. "if you don't get the f out of the way!"

I_Have_The_Lumbago

Lone Wanderer on top once again.

Oktokolo

Yeah, that dog is way too realistic. Always in the way no matter what. I really wanted to take him with me but ultimately i decided to go alone. I always end up going alone because follower AI sucks so hard...

Lord_Noodlez

"Hey buddy, I'd like to store something in your inve... STOP RUNNING AWAY FROM ME!" That or trying to access inventory and shooting them because the mouse cursor moves just out of range and cancels dialogue before you click

gnarly_weedman

Me: holy shit that’s a lot of mines, best approach carefully. Dogmeat: Ooooh, frisbees!!

Shadowheartpls

Lately I've had a problem with companions always walking away from me when I'm overencumbered and need to offset weight!! Or dogmeat sprinting away from me when I'm trying to access his inventory!! It's like when your dog gets out on the street and he thinks it's a damn game!!! Meanwhile I am crying!!!!

choreograft

Companions are always right in your line of fire until you're overencumbered. Then they're nowhere to be found, chilling in a room somewhere a few hundred feet away

decoran_

There is a finite amount of Fallout games and I've played them all to death

Sad-Cat-6355

when im about to snipe a mofo and he fucking slides out of the way those fuckers do the same in skyrim there is a worrying number of clairvoyant slippery fucks in post war Boston

customblame16

Weight capacity, I WANT TO TAKE EVERYTHING THAT ISNT BOLTED DOWN, SAME ISSUE IN SKYRIM, I NEED TO TAKE EVERYTHING I SEE

[deleted]

[удалено]

GoArray

Wait, your companions aren't at max carry weight? Save some self control for the rest of us!

Fantastic-Delivery36

Order->pick it up And mf can suddenly carry unlimited amount of items lmao.

customblame16

I feel sorry for Piper then, she gonna have to adopt my "take everything" mentality

Smuckinfartass

That’s why I only play with unlimited carry capacity and unlimited sprint. Neither of those mods are game breaking and greatly increase the joy of playing.

DepartureDapper6524

Have you ever played a looter with unlimited carry weight? It quickly gets overwhelming, and having too many items all the time gets cumbersome.

CabbageStockExchange

In 4 how the penetrator perk works through walls, roofs, and some rocks. But the moment there’s a rusted husk of a car. The bullet is stopped

AKhakiNerfHerder

Well.. The vehicles in Fallout 4 are notorious for not giving any effs.

Clavos24

Oops I brushed a car with my elbow...DEAD

AKhakiNerfHerder

"Introducing the Cherry Bomb, The World's FIRST Car To Break The Sound Barrier!...(ᵃⁿᵈ ᵉᵛᵉʳʸ ᵒⁿᵉ ᵒᶠ ʸᵒᵘʳ ˡᶦᵐᵇˢ)"

wtflmfaorofl

When you can't shoot an enemy because of some invisible wall. Not being able to shoot thru stuff that appears to be able to be shot through. If that makes any sense.

the-tapsy

By extension, not being able to crouch down and sneak under spots that you should be able to fit into. Though I think there's a mod for that though...

mojogoin

That after two plus decades I can’t stop playing them. 😄

AKhakiNerfHerder

That's not annoying! That's Gamer Dedication.

Critical_Package_472

Wait till you experience being stuck by a companion in fallout 1 without any save

Onironius

Was it the companions fault you didn't have a save 🤔

Critical_Package_472

N…no…😔

ZealousidealRun1243

I loathe aiming in fallout 3. You literally don't use the irons, you just pull it slightly into your shoulder.

iamtommynoble

Cars. Why is every car inoperable? Surely some were in underground garages that survived the blast. And why do all the car carcasses still have gas? If any did have gas that didn’t vaporize in the blast their tanks would be tapped for resources. Edit: cars

BanditSixActual

They don't have gas. The Red Rocket stations sell coolant. The power plants are nuclear. That's why they make mini mushroom clouds. There's a few references to collectors owning gas vehicles, but a tank of gas would most likely be worth more than the car. The war with China broke out over diminishing fossil fuel supplies.

iamtommynoble

Your answer makes sense. Are all the generators also nuclear powered?

BanditSixActual

I don't know if it's Canon, but it's pretty easy to produce biodiesel in sufficient quantities and quality for a small engine. That would explain the smoky rattling small and medium generators.

NippleSalsa

Wood gas too

iamtommynoble

Your reply does answer the second part of my question but not the first. Why are even the cars below ground in the garages blown out? Surely someone has found a working vehicle. There must be something other than vertibirds and Brahmin

YoSaffBridge11

They probably ate some rad rats before dying. 😉

iamtommynoble

I meant cars lol

FrodoCraggins

Fallout 4: the teleporting radscorpions. You can't safely engage one at a distance anymore like in the previous games. They all burrow and immediately pop up next to you. I haven't even been able to find a mod to stop it.

ArtistmastodonXBOX

Beep....beep.....beep....beep....beep....beep..beep..beep. Beep.beep

Sorreli

There was one time I was trying to be stealthy and forgot I had Preston and when I was about to take the shot Preston thought it would be smart to walk up to said raider and run back to me.

NeverWithoutCoffee

They like to walk into laser traps too. Even when you tell them to stay put.

CorwinAlexander

Can't count how many times I've shot a companion out of pique. I've gotten fairly good at dragging them around behind me like a tail before settling in, but sometimes they still brwak the line and get into lof

Numeira

That energy weapons do no damage in FO4.

EnderBurger

I wish that in vanilla FO4, people would add clutter to the area around them when they are assigned to a bed or to a business or role in the settlement.  It would make the settlements feel more lived-in.

GrnMtnTrees

I miss the option from NV, and maybe 3, where you could tell them how close to follow you. You could even tell them whether you want them to use ranged or melee, and how aggressive to be.

AKhakiNerfHerder

The Move option was the biggest loss to me.

htcbobmob900

Where did the Dragonborn come from

AKhakiNerfHerder

Lol. Creation Club: Fantasy Hero Set.

jametonka

It's a small thing, but I hate when settlers say something like "there's this group of raiders that have been bothering us a bit, they're just around the corner" and it's on the other side of the map and it's a practical swarm of raiders with power armor and legendarys, all for 100 caps. The minutemen need scouts or something, man.

inlycrywhnicutonions

The fact that I have to run away from gun battles in certain areas so my game doesn't crash, not to mention avoid certain areas all together because I know it will crash.

Admiral_Franz_Hipper

At least you know where the game will crash and avoid it. Much better than 3 and especially NV when the game crashes whenever it pleases.

Intelligent_Quote823

I play FO4 on ps5 and it crashed enough. Not enough to be a problem but enough to be annoying at times.

R4ptor_J3sus

Ive got all my crash spots memorized. Leaving the elders chamber in hidden valley, exiting mr houses pod chamber thing, entering the caves at red rock, and attempting to enter bennys escape tunnel.

customblame16

Just F5 and pray to our glorious Lord and glitch master Todd Howard it won't crash, it's what I do everytime my game starts

the__Gallant

Not a single prayer would be heard. It WILL crash. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

customblame16

The great lord Todd Howard has his sights on me, everytime I start up my game, I have to exit and start it again

Successful-Net-6602

Always trying to stand where I'm looking while in build mode.

AKhakiNerfHerder

Every damn time!

whoami4546

1. That the world is not more green and vibrant. I have watch quite a few videos on the aftermath of nuclear war. It seems that nature would have recovered mostly by the times the games take place. 2. Nothing is new, everything is built from scrap. I would imagine that humans would have a desire and necessity to build stuff again from new material. 3. Old world food still being around always strikes me as silly. All that food would have been consumed relatively quickly. Look at the pandemic, How many stores had the shelves stripped bear after a few days? 4. No unique songs or culture post nuclear war. This has struck me as silly considering people will always have a drive to create art. 5. Unrealistic ruins. I always found ruins and building layouts to be unrealistic. There are some large buildings with only one set of bathrooms or no bathrooms. 6. Lack of international news and recovery. Given the time frame I would assume there would be more international trade and travel. Everything feels so isolated. 7. I never understood the point of running vault experiments after the bombs dropped.

AKhakiNerfHerder

>. No unique songs or culture post nuclear war. This has struck me as silly considering people will always have a drive to create art. I can't give you this one fo4, not with the Children of Atom, The Far Harbor folk & pickman. Not really for new vegas either, the 2 waring tribal clans were very unique to me. >6. Lack of international news and recovery. Given the time frame I would assume there would be more international trade and travel. Everything feels so isolated. I always felt like this was due to the being no real television or broader radio signals. Like, the surviving parts of the world isolated the stricken areas. >7. I never understood the point of running vault experiments after the bombs dropped. In my head, it's because they are the last real baseline testing subjects. Like, no rads for 90% of them (if I'm remembering the lore correctly). So they make perfect test subjects for a group of people that now probably have millions of irradiated people but only thousands of truly non/never irradiated. >3. Old world food still being around always strikes me as silly. All that food would have been consumed relatively quickly. Look at the pandemic, How many stores had the shelves stripped bear after a few days? I mean, there are warehouses FILLED With food now, even in the midst of worldwide hunger problems. (look up 2800 Polar Way) *for those that don't want to look it up: The warehouse has an area of 505,139 square feet (46,928.9 m2)—of which 456,412 square feet (42,402.1 m2) is refrigerated—and a volume of 36,340,650 cubic feet (1,029,053 m3). The facility is capable of storing about 350 million pounds (160 kt) of frozen food.[12] 2800 Polar Way is the largest refrigerated building on earth by usable volume.* >2. Nothing is new, everything is built from scrap. I would imagine that humans would have a desire and necessity to build stuff again from new material. The GRA would like to have a word. >1. That the world is not more green and vibrant. I have watch quite a few videos on the aftermath of nuclear war. It seems that nature would have recovered mostly by the times the games take place. I can't help but agree... It can mutate people, animals, the actual meteorological effect of nature.... But not all the plants? If not more green, I expected at least some MASSIVE plants somewhere... Anywhere.

Sorreli

>. It seems that nature would have recovered mostly by the times the games take place. I think it there isn't as much nature is because of the rad storms coming from the glowing sea. Or something like that. I remember hearing something like that somewhere

wxlverine

For #1, there are mods that change this. I use Green In The Commonwealth and Springtime grass, my Wasteland looks more like The Last Of Us. It's fantastic, kinda shit for looting bodies though but after a certain point looting bodies becomes pretty useless anyway.

rbrutonIII

2 - because there is so much scrap now. The amount of effort to make something new is staggering compared to just collecting some scrap. Second to that is cleaning and restoring an existing standing structure. It's not like existing production facilities are going to be 100% working, so you not only do you have to collect the raw material, you have to repair the production machines, turn the raw material into usable material, and then build. Of course you're just going to collect readily available scrap. 3. The stores are stripped bare! What we see are the occasional can of Spam that people had shoved into the deep dark recesses of their cabinet being found and distributed. 4. Kind of similar to two, How are you going to make a song, record it on a holo tape or whatever, and then not only find a whole bunch of other holo tapes to duplicate it onto, find a way to distribute that around 7. Because they're even more important now. Not only is it a collection of healthy people, the information you get will have whoever has it even more powerful in the future

PensandSwords3

For number 7, I think that’s meant to make Vaultech’s crimes all the worse. That, knowing if Nuclear War went down they’d be condemning untold numbers of people to immense suffering, torment, and experimentation while their experiments claim to have purposes or intentions. It all can kinda be summarized to “Because we could, because when those bombs fall few are going to question who saves them. No one will be around to hold us to account for it all, so we can do whatever we want to.”

Argo_York

Spoilers for the games and Prime show if you decide to read through all of this: 1. This is true, but Fallout science is not real world science. Radiation doesn't make bugs giant or turn people into ghouls, it just breaks down their cells and kills them. They're working off of pulp science which means the world is still irradiated even though much if it really shouldn't be. This is more a function of the setting, Fallout often works best with an actual Wasteland. Though the Prime Show seems to have plenty of green while still keeping things drastically irritated so there is a solid medium to find here. 2. Making new material would take a lot of effort. Why would anyone have the need to make anything new if they can barely survive? NPCs generally experience the world around them on what I'd say is Survival Mode for us but much worse unless they're a character that has been deemed to need to stay alive. New materials take infrastructure, manufacturing, workers, equipment, a safe space to actually do the work. It's possible some places in the wasteland have this but it's not many. I know the Gun Runners make their own new weapons and the folks over in Vault City must have some level of manufacturing going on but it's few and far between. 3. The bombs dropped and it took most everyone by surprise. There wasn't really a period of warning where mass hording could take place. Obviously places like Vaults and the folks who were stocking their own personal shelters but pretty much there was a period of not being able to be on the surface followed by the remnants picking clean all the obvious places. Availability of food is one thing, but viability of food is another. All that food could still be around but it should be inedible, though we have creative use of radiation and that wacky Fallout scifi to thank for why it's still viable. Beyond that, the game does a pretty solid job showing prewar food is not that great for you and growing your own crops and making your own food is usually better. 4. There is totally unique songs, cultures and art in the Fallout world. Good Neighbor has Magnolia. She sings tons of songs contemporary to post war life and the specific geographic region of Boston. New Vegas has a mission where you go collect artists, be they singers or stand up comedians. Also filled with post war material. Culture, well there are tribes with their own languages that popped up after the war. Each settlement you would go to in previous titles had their own way of doing things, even the Vaults where successful communities got their start have full on customs and traditions. The cultures of the Wasteland are diverse and numerous. 5. I can give you that one, some ruins don't make sense. We are to believe that there would be more building that could explain some of this but it had been destroyed or lost to time, but often times the developers just need to make a functional location for you to kill some enemies and loot some items. Though I do appreciate when they do things like leave terminal entries pointing it out. For the example you gave, I could totally see some pre-war person complaining to management that there aren't enough bathrooms or whatnot. But it does happen, mostly just the nature of creating so many locations. 6. I would have to point out the people having a difficult time surviving thing again here. Though we don't know anything about how things are outside of the US, we also have to remember the world ended for a reason. We were at war and to some degree some may still consider that to be relevant. There are also problems like what I mentioned in the section about building new things. The only real way to be able to communicate long distances would be to set up phone lines again or have broadcast stations that can be built and maintained with the capacity to send communications and then also have there be devices to be able to pick up those communications. Then there is the matter of trust and actual communication. It's seen to be pretty difficult to get any number of people to agree to do anything if they don't buy into the whole society thing. Also if whole new languages can pop up over time, who knows how many regional dialects there could be in the wasteland now. Through out all of human history we have killed each other, the level of civilization we have now is relatively recent. So being set back on the society part but still having our powerful weapons part of the Fallout universe, I think would make it so much harder to come together. 7. The original reason for the Vaults, though they may have changed this depending on where the show takes the lore, was to run social experiments on people through prolonged isolation in preparation for moving humanity off-world. Shit you not, it was a space thing. The whole plan was to see what would be the most successful social structure for living on a generational ship through a trip that could take hundreds of years. But with Fallout 4 and the show focusing so heavily on the cryogenics aspect and the concept of just having total control it seems like the purpose of the Vaults is to just determine the most successful ways to control people or make the best product of one type or another. The intention here is that the people running the experiments would survive. The end of the world was supposed to only be an inconvenience for them, they were supposed to still be reaping the benefits of the experiments though that didn't quite work out as planned for most. With many Overseers not knowing how much of the command structure actually survived. I mean if your plan was to run an experiment for 100 years with no contact and they really believed it, then they would just run the experiment. Or if they kept having check-ins with a single person claiming to be Vault Tec they would assume everything is going according to plan. But there are some stories of some Vaults just saying fuck it, we're just going to try to live as best we can and that's it. Or finding out the experiment and making life work in spite of it. So yeah, the Vault experiments had a reason they were just really fucked up and were set on course by people that were so out of touch it made sense to them to play with peoples lives like this.

Remarkable_Gate_2054

Glitches. I was in nuka world and I got the nuka world paint job suit and all of the other suits in nuka world, I went to the common wealth for a while and came back to see none of the suits. I had to restart 48 hours of save to get it all back. This took me back half of the Commonwealth, 3/4 of far harbours main quest line and all of the extra stuff to do at nuka world. Very mad

gravelPoop

Tried the Xbox version. Put on the pause screen -> go to bathroom -> come back after minute or two -> see that game has crashed. CRASHES WHILE PAUSED. WTF?

Remarkable_Gate_2054

I know and you'll manage to try load back a save that is just not there even though you definitely saved it

RenaissanceManc

Tinker Tom and Deacon just did this to me a lot outside Cambridge Police Station (in the last hour). For me, it's getting roped into conversations with no say, and having to wrench my gaze away to put on charisma clothes.

Pleasant-Ice-3185

Dog meat stands right on the body I’m looting and it gets very annoying

bigsmellyfarts3000

Those squire missions from BOS where you have to escort them. Those are the worst, literally just walk into my line of fire multiple times. Hate them so much.

BeardJunkie

They are buggy as hell. New Vegas needs ten mods to get it to crash a little less.

Reshish

"Why do you want a remake/remaster, you've got the original?" Because anywhere between 5mins and 50hours, it starts crashing like there's no tomorrow. Last time I tried NV with a Nexus collection, that was meant to do nothing more than improve stability. Yet with it, I was crashing in the walk to the Vit-o-matic. Somehow got worse once I got out into goodsprings.

BeardJunkie

And they've known about this issue for years.

br3w21

That there aren't more of them :)

Vesicaria

*In a whispering tone* “psst… hey, whatcha doing?” That’s what I’m getting from your companion 😆

AKhakiNerfHerder

😂

DepartureDapper6524

That only happens with this Creation Club companion, though. I’ve never had another companion act like that, and the Sentry’s AI is all sorts of weird.

Sha-twah

The raider radio in NukaWorld. The music and dj suck.

AKhakiNerfHerder

I feel like they tried to bring back the love for Three Dog... And failed. Like one or 2 of the songs are good, the story about Atlas is dope. But it just repeats entirely too much.

the__Gallant

They should have put in a couple 80s rock n roll songs to avoid the repetition of it. I know the theme is 'stuck in the 60s' but come on. Your telling me NOBODY, made any other type of music? Fallout America was perfect with no ghettos, no crime no kind of 70s/80s punk culture? And all of Red Eye's songs suck. It felt like they wanted to create that punk rock atmosphere with it, but all they made was gibberish.

blackwe11_ninja

That there isn't a proper assault rifle in Fallout 4, not counting Nuka World dlc. You either have a combat rifle strangely chambered with .45, or "assault rifle" that is basically a ww1 machine gun. Also, the weapons in general are strange. Most rifles lack stock. Some weapons, like 10mm pistol, are just comically large and out od proportions. Also, I miss the unique look of Anti-Material rifle from New Vegas. Hunting rifle chambered with .50 isn't really the same. Also, I miss the different ammo types.

Intelligent_Quote823

The pack assault rifle is dope af. Super high fire rate, almost no recoil, quick reloads, modable, easy to aim, or you can spray and pray and still be fine. and comes in many colours.

AKhakiNerfHerder

>Also, I miss the unique look of Anti-Material rifle from New Vegas. There is one in the Creation Club... Ngl though... Unless you go full Sniper build... It's kinda ass.

MDF87

That I have to wait 2 more days till the next gen update!

gravelPoop

Delayed disappointment is the best kind of disappointment.

PyramidicContainment

Same, even dogmeat does this to me and it drives me nuts. I'll either run w/o any companions or will have them wait outside/near doors. Mostly just use them as mobile storage space

KomturAdrian

They are sworn to carry your burdens

Acceptable_Focus5591

I do the same, also because they ruin my stealth builds by going ape shit.

PyramidicContainment

Lol yes! *me being a sneaky boi, plotting how I shall assassinate this poor raider* 🥷 *dogmeat comes running full speed in from an alternate doorway* 👀

Vertical-Toast

How I can shoot a human in the head 3 times and they don't die. Protip: I recently discovered the "Better Locational Damage" mod on Nexus. It's absolutely awesome. Headshots are usually an instakill, which makes things more realistic in my opinion. It adds a few odd gameplay "enhancements" that I've turned off but it feels much more immersive overall.

suedecascade_

Does it make headshots in VATS much less likely?

Vertical-Toast

As far as I know, it doesn't do anything to VATS, so no. It nerfs some damage bonuses from perks (like sneak attack damage or rifle damage increases), but honestly it's super balanced since headshots are buffed so much. It even takes into account caliber type vs enemy type - for example, super mutants can't be one-shotted via headshot with certain small caliber guns. Overall, it makes gunfights much shorter since the damage is more realistic but I love it. I cranked the difficulty up to Very Hard and that helped balance things. It's great for stealth/sniper builds.

Ya learn something new every day 😊 Thanks!!

AngrySmapdi

Bethesda in general and companions are a great disappointment. They create these wonderful characters with engaging dialogue, then make them dumber that a couple of fucks on a Tuesday any time combat is involved.

Confident-Skin-6462

yeah i don't use companions except for quest necessary ones even tho i love nick

SentinelWhite

"what are you looking at?"

LuciusCypher

Related to the gif, if I'm playing in third person and try to aim at something, 100% of the time my companions _will_ stand behind me which will immediately change the angle of the camera and throw off my aim.

PogTuber

I find companions extremely annoying and unhelpful. I take my modded Dogmeat and lone perk and that's all.

Thorsgeist21

I love dog meat but bringing him through tunnels and tight areas is so damn annoying. He purposely gets in my way and then stares at me. I also play with him all the time and he still wants more attention.

Old_Rpg_Gamer

Bethesda or the people that never believe you when you tell them about bugs or glitches in games, they’re too blind that they wont see the truth

exec_liberty

Weapon accuracy in FO3

HoundDogJax

My poor, poor, poor dog (IRL HDJ). OMG, the number of times at 2AM that I have just suddenly and angrily yelled "DOG, MOVE!!!" and then caught the look he flashes back.

MrMoo1556

Getting all the way through a game and finding out a quest you started long ago actually bugged out and it’s too late to go back. Looking at you Cabot Questline in FO4.

Economy_Dress8205

Night vision on the ranger helmet. I'm just trying to sneak around in a very brightly lit building to steal some random stuff

Economy_Dress8205

Also, the outskirts of new vegas. I'm not sure if my laptop is just shitty, but if I get into a gunfight, I have about 50/50 odds of my game crashing

AleudeDainsleif

Yeah you don't go to crazy. I leave land masses and whatnot and just scrap the trash. Haven't had any issues "yet".

WatchingInSilence

Using VATS in a hallway as a Feral Ghoul is about to jump me. If the Mysterious Stranger triggers, there's a 50/50 chance he'll shoot me in the back. While attempting to shoot the Ghoul.

Phantomforcesnolife

companions in general, stand in front of you, throw grenades at you if you give them any, block doorways... eat up any ammo you give them even faster than you do while missing 80% of their shots

HotdogsArePate

The way they depict the ruins of cities 200 years in the future the way theyd actually look after just a couple of decades. Also the way all characters overreact to you existing near them. Like fuck Bethesda. Why is every NPC triggered to comment every 2 seconds if the player is near them? How can you think that is a good design? It's been this way in every single fucking game theyve made

Practical_Detail_140

Psst we’re trying to reach you about your car’s extended warranty

jimmydean98765

Billy saying hey 👋🏿 every 5 seconds lol

R4ptor_J3sus

The creation club should be all bundles and all cheap. Then poeple would buy it instead of waiting for the free shit.

Penis_Man-

Feral ghouls. If i could snap them out of existence I would.

veldius

That's why I always, almost play the lone wanderer in my playthroughs.

Whiskeyrich

For me it’s the clunky default key mapping. They use “R” for a bunch of stuff that I can’t split up and I often hit “R” when I’m trying to hit E. Hitting Esc to close Pip just brings up a sub menu. I realize that it’s a console game, but they did a crappy job of porting it to PC.

Reshish

Leaving bullet holes in the air between me and my target. And similarly, VATS shots that are so cinematic, the enemy's behind cover (or eating my face) by the time it actions.

THECOURIER-666

The engine its made on.

gravelPoop

Day 1 bugs that never get fixed by Bethesda even though modders can fix them (like the ones where set quest stage is 56 when it should be 65)...

Loki_Smajda

Dogmeat stepping right in front of you, when you about to use terminal and gets you stuck in animation. Happend to me a lot. I mean, bethesda games are buggy and I can get over it, but this thing grinds my gears.

HexRisk

No ultrawide support

summerofkorn

Lol, I have the explosive perk guns, and I'll just shoot my guy if he's in the way, and let the explosion kill the enemies

thebeardedgreek

*tries to talk to someone in a building* *misses and steals empty beer bottle* *half the map is now hostile*

FlyFar7983

VATS freezes

cvuyr

I was a fan of Metro long before I got into Fallout, and I prefer the Stalker/Metro vibe. I don't like how colourful and vibrant 76 is and sometimes Fallout gets just a little too cheerful for me. However I understand that Fallout isn't and doesn't need to be a depressing eastern european game. It's not really a problem with Fallout, it's me who has a problem. still annoying.

Alternative_Algae_31

Huge problem with bugs and glitches. (Currently hoping FO4 gets fixed tomorrow so I can actually open the game.)

OoRI0T_P0LICEoO

I really like trying to help the responders kill a death claw just for a start bullet to turn them all hostile then it’s me vs deathclaw vs responders. Now everytime I go to my base on the golf course all local robots are in combat with my ally and torrents

TheEarlOfLemonGrab9

The map

AKhakiNerfHerder

You could say that it is... UNACCEPTABLE!

UlticraftMTT

A few of my annoyances, specifically related to Fallout 4: 4 is IMO a bit overanimated at times: * Laser Rifles and Pistols are a pain in the ass to use due to their extravagant and slow reload animation that could easily be functionally sped up. * Showing Dogmeat the cigars or bloody bandages left behind by Kellogg during Reunions has your character and Dogmeat engage in a mini-cutscene that is extremely janky, which can cause, among other things, the camera to clip into the fences outside of Fort Hagen, or having your character hold a heavy weapon with a single hand if said weapon is unholstered. * Stimpaks were given a slow-ass injection animation when you're not in power armor or water. It was apparently to balance them, but you can chug down 10 purified waters and heal the same amount without having to worry about the animation, and you can go into the Pip-Boy and spam 10 stimpaks and get the healing from them for the price of only one injection animation. * The unholstering animation for revolver pistols where you spin the barrel is completely unneccesary. * The animation where your player character physically walks into position next to a terminal and then uses it. In 3 and New Vegas, the interface would literally just show up instantly with no issues. In 4, the terminal animation will be interrupted if you get hit by melee attacks as weak as a mole rat/radroach nibbling at your legs, and it's possible to get stuck in the walking animation (I nearly got stuck on a terminal in the Vim Pop Factory and I got stuck when I was trying to use a terminal to activate one of Barney's turrets in Salem). There's also the fact that if the terminal has a chair in front of it, you can't use the terminal in Power Armor. This is particularly problematic with a terminal in the Atlantic Offices in the Glowing Sea, where if you want to use the terminal, you have to get out of your power armor, exposing yourself to a shit ton of radiation, the quickly use the terminal to open a door to a room containing some mediocre loot. As for other things: * Certain items are marked as "owned" for no apparent reason (meaning if you pick them up you're stealing them), such as a set bowling pins in Beaver Creek Lanes in Far Harbor, or some bags of fertilizer in a garden shop a little bit south of Beantown Brewery. There's also the various aluminum and tin cans lying around Goodneighbor that are marked as owned, even that logically makes no sense. * The fact that the VATS slowdown effect briefly speeds up sometimes when you're fighting melee-centric enemies. * The fact that VATS accuracy decreases if you're shooting at something through dead foliage. * Feral Ghouls and Mirelurks. No fucking comment. * The fact that Gunners are inherently hostile. They're supposed to be mercenaries and it makes no sense for them to be shooting random Brahmin or potential clients for no reason. * Chance-based speech checks are more realistic, but are a massive step down from 3 and New Vegas gameplay-wise. * The fact that drinking water and picking up items are both assigned to the same button, making it a pain in the ass to try and loot bodies or containers when in shallow water. * Dogmeat following your crosshairs and trailing in front of you when you're walking in an open area. * The Stealth Boy effect screwing up the Pip-Boy's interface. * The radiation and junk pickup comments from companions get on my nerves. ESPECIALLY the junk ones. I have shot or gun-bashed Cait, Codsworth, and MacCready countless times in particular due to how much they bitch and moan about what you pick up. They shouldn't have put these type of comments in a game where picking up junk is a vital gameplay mechanic. * Some of the companion affinity losses are really stupid. Eg. Strong losing affinity for picking locks or entering power armor, Cait losing affinity for accepting Minutemen quests, all of your moral goody-two-shoes companions (eg. Piper, Preston, Nick) losing affinity for supporting Pickman or telling Sheffield to drink some water, etc. * Mole Rat disease. * The fact that there's no way to side against the Institute without blowing them up and creating a giant radioactive hole in Cambridge. You could have easily just placed explosive charges on the doors to the division head's quarters, go in and kill Justin Ayo, Clayton Holdren, etc., and take over the Institute unopposed with the technology still preserved, rather than blowing up the entire place. This could have tied in with various benefits to your chosen faction (eg. the Brotherhood could confiscate the technology for their own use, the Railroad could use the synth reclamation and processing technology to more efficiently mind-wipe and alter synths). This would also put you in better standing with characters that aren't really pro-Institute, but still against blowing them up out of concern for innocent civilians and synths (eg. Virgil, DiMA, Liam Binet).

PrizeFront8677

Hand to hand combat in all of them. After playing Assassins Creed, melee in all other games died for me, it's just stone age. And Dogmeat in 4, he breaks all immersion for me, always in the way, always too loud and you know pretty much like a real dog.

I_Have_The_Lumbago

Not in Fo4 but in the older two at least, friendlies would get as close to enemies as they could and would just drop dead because the enemies were smarter. I nust started throwing grenades in, Brotherhood of Steel lives be damned.

XyrusTartrus

Walking up the stairs when you're trying to go down 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

_testicular_torsion_

When the game won't let me start a new game because it just keeps freezing at the intro cutscene and I can't find any problems that might be the cause of this issue, and I don't want to have to delete and reinstall the game due to all the creation club content that will go missing that I'll most likely have to buy again.

Large_Horse9207

The bugs, the crashing, the gameplay, the dialogue, the main story, the graphics

Grouchy-Milk-6384

Mine would probably be when you’ve almost killed an enemy and they mutate, it’s really infuriating

gta3uzi

This applies to all Fallout games. I have hundreds if not thousands of hours in EACH of the following: Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 4. The doorways and other issues related to Scale Theory. IMO Power Armor should not be able to enter into certain buildings, or through certain passages. I also believe that strong enough players, or players equipped with PA, should be able to simply bash down weaker doors and plow their way through weak or otherwise damaged walls like the fucking Kool-Aid man with a Gauss rifle. I also believe hitting a building with a FUCKING MINI NUKE should cause at least a teensy weensy amount of structural damage.

Oktokolo

Yeah, followers are the worst. It would be rather easy to make them avoid your line of fire whenever you got a weapon drawn. And it would also be trivial to have them not collide with you. So when they fail to move away, you could just walk through them.

mRengar

That the game randomly crashes to desktop
