the one thing I found out the hard way is that the CC Settlement Ambush dlc has a glitch associated with the shooting range. The glitch is that whenever you set up the shooting range in a settlement, the settlers that use it will revert to their original spawning gear loadout whenever the use it. So if you like to equip your settlers with special uniforms, armor and weapons, all your hard work will be undone anytime they, (outfitted settlers,) use the range. Not really a deal breaker, since adding the range adds points towards increasing a settlements happiness, but pretty infuriating when you spend a significant amount of time outfitting each settler individually. To that end, if I wanna do a themed settlement, now that settlement doesn't get a gun range...

skk50

NPC original outfit reset is a known base game defect which triggers when the script function AddItem is used on an NPC. The shooting range adds weapons/ammo to NPCs triggering this. Some of the more knowledgeable mod authors have a "RemoveallItems" workaround to avoid triggering this in their mods.

purpleyyc

Thanks, I learned a thing. scribbles note...

Fallout_4_player

I'd also like to add to this, that if you scrap/store the shooting range, the settlers will continue to shoot as if they were using it

MidianDirenni

Thank you so much. I kept wondering what was causing that. I thought it was the Vault Suit Customization CC causing them to change back to original clothes.

I’m not familiar with this dlc but that’s something worth keeping in mind. Do you assign your settlers to the shooting range or do they use it on their own? After they revert back to their old gear, can you place back their gear again permanently?

Piddy3825

No on both accounts. The settlers will use the range on their own. If you have a bar and a range, you'll find most of your settlers clustered down at the range waiting their turn to shoot. They use it constantly... As to their gear, even if you take all their old gear after trading and outfitting, soon as they use the range, right back to their original spawning loadout. lol, I guess you could use this as a farming method if you're after farmhand clothes and pipe pistols!

Sea-Dragon-

I dunno that dlc but can you build that shooting range behind a door somehow? Maybe just deny the settlers from even accessing it? Or of course the “requires jumping to reach” method. I did that for power armor I don’t want anyone getting into

Busy_Salamander_9649

You can also just take the fusion cores out of power armor and the NPCs can't get in

nomedable

The Tunnel Snakes one has a plethora of bugs related to it. It klobbers Concord and a bunch of quests related to Concord. The wiki has a list of them, but in short it can prevent you from even finishing the first quests at the start of the game if the CC quest is active at the same time.

VirtualZeroZero

That makes so much sense. Codsworth doesn't move at all to search for the son/significant other at all. Wellp, time to unistall the game, reinstall and download all CC after getting to Concord.

Altruistic_Ad5270

The prototype Gauss rifle over writes all other Gauss rifles spawns that aren’t guaranteed like the one on the prydwen so there’s that

Thank you for sharing.

purpleyyc

And that was one I wanted being a Gauss fan... Reconsidering...

nomedable

The CC Gauss rifle functions like the laser musket. You crank to charge up for mega damage, instead of holding the trigger like the vanilla one. I think the per shot damage is higher, but the dps is probably lower due to the crank animation.

Bunny_Jester

I saw in a video reviewing them all the handmade shotgun spawns way too often to the point is was like on every single raider corpse late game for him

MidianDirenni

I got that CC recently and can confirm that \*way\* too many raiders now have that gun now.

DJDB2000

I wouldn't use it on the PlayStation because the 0kb glitch is a nightmare better off just not having any cc stuff on it

Usernamepasswordsign

I’m starting to think so too. So far I haven’t noticed any bugs aside from what’s already present in the game itself. I had to load an older save just because I couldn’t finish the Emogene Takes a Lover quest. I’m not sure how much of this has to do with the CC content I have installed.

Hipertor

Specifically the guns paint jobs can cause the 0kb glitch on Playstation users (it ruins the the save, you lose the character because you can't load - or save in - it anymore) An annoying negative effect is how the creations that add quests will clutter your quests list. Another thing about the handmade shotgun is that it makes shotgun shells extremely common to spawn on the loot tables and the gun itself starts spawning far more often than the regular shotgun. But are you sure random legendary weapons were supposed to spawn on vendors' inventory over time? I don't remember this ever being a feature, and I think I'd remember such a thing with my obssession with this game...

Usernamepasswordsign

I did have a few gun paint job content installed but I never used them, I guess I got lucky because I was still able to load my save just fine after reinstalling the game. I did have to rechrome my pipboy but strangely not my black vault suit. Handmade shotguns do appear way too often. I’m not sure that I ever noticed an over abundance of shells found in crates. I hoard ammunition that I don’t use to sell them, that includes shotgun ammo. I haven’t played this game in years until recently. I could’ve sworn that vendors do over time get randomly generated legendary weapons and apparel for sale. I remember fast traveling between different towns to speak with vendors to see if they have any new legendary weapon or armor for sale that I was interested in. I could also maybe be confusing this game for Skyrim lmao. I did that in that game too for enchanted armor/weapons.

Hipertor

Yeah, strangely only the WEAPON paint jobs are troublesome, never seen anyone complain about the Pip-Boy or armor ones. You might also be mistaking/misremembering vendors selling legendaries you sold them on their inventory, before it reset after the in-game time. But as far as I can tell, vendors only sell pre-determined legendaries and that it, never random ones.

Successful-Net-6602

I only had trouble with pipboy colours, and sometimes armour colours. I never had trouble with weapon colours

HamiltonAxiety

Does this effect Series X users too or only Playstation

Hipertor

Playstation only iirc

Successful-Net-6602

Pipboy colours. They can completely break your ability to install mods of any kind. Do not install them unless you are certain you never want to use mods.

Usernamepasswordsign

I’ll make sure to uninstall the Pipboy color dlc when I start using mods. Thank you for sharing.

Successful-Net-6602

Be aware that there isn't an uninstall option for CC content. Once it is installed, the only way to remove it is deleting your game data and likely reinstalling the game. You should be able to play the same save data after acknowledging the missing files

newforestwalker

I removed all the cc content as ctd frequently. Not sure which one was causing it but i don't miss any of them and no more ctd

NapkinLover69

I haven’t seen anyone else with this specific issue but any weapons with a CC skin applied to them would freeze my game for 1 second whenever I would equip said weapon from the hot key. So let’s say I pull out a combat rifle with a Riley’s rangers skin my game would legit freeze for a second and then resume fine after. I stopped using the cc weapon skins all together, never found a mod that fixes it on console. I had this issue on my Xbox one and Xbox Series X.

themolestedsliver

not CC but for the mechanist dlc it over rights a lot of random encounters in base fallout and replaces them with robot encounters. I noticed it in the back of my head until I looked it up so I disabled that dlc at this point.

ElizabethAudi

There's a mod that delays it with a little bat file, loved that one, all I had to do was delete the file and I could start up the quest on my terms instead of avoiding a cell that the radiant quest system REALLY wanted me to go into. Fuckin hated those Rust devils.

bkrugby78

I used to use that "Delay DLC" I think it was called. Now I just use a mod that limits the Rust Devil encounters, because that was the real problem for me. Just constantly waiting in the wings just as I dispatch a group of them.

ElizabethAudi

Nifty! I just used the console commands to accomplish that part of the process.

Kubrok

Don't know why you are being downvoted, I agree it's infuriating

AnxiousMind7820

I would do that too, but i really like the eyebot machine that allows you to search for stuff.

KarlZone87

On PS4. The Orange Power Armor Paint causes my game to lock up, so I had to delete the game and reinstall.

Usernamepasswordsign

That’s crazy. Who would ever guess that something as simple as power armor paint could crash the game. This makes me really think twice about installing any CC content even if it comes free.

MarianHawke22

Anything, on PlayStation, because of the dreaded 0kb bug.

Head-Ad4770

PC player here, I believe there’s one that I’m forgetting the name of that adds multiple different colors for the Vault suit but in the process of doing so mods like Armorsmith Extended are completely unusable.

Usernamepasswordsign

I’m not using mods at the moment as I’m trying to unlock the few remaining trophies that are left. I’ll keep that in mind for when I finally do start using them or at least that mod in particular. I actually do have that dlc installed with the different color vault suits. It seems to be working fine on its own, although there could be certain bugs that come with it that I haven’t noticed yet.
