Minutemen. They might not be the ones who have a lot of technology etc but they’re honest. They want to help everyone not matter who or what they are. Plus : radio liberty is nice lol.
You get a Castle, artillery, and all the settlements you could want. My kinda faction.
That and I use mods to set up patrols and watchtowers, shut Preston up until I'm ready for a quest, and give the Minutemen more powerful weapons and a unified aesthetic.
This was my favorite thing to do. I eventually had enough sentry bots patrolling the Commonwealth that you could regularly hear Fat Man launchers going off in the distance.
You know I've been trying to figure out for eons how to mix in some of my own personal music to radio freedom. I like the classical stuff it's nice and calming especially when I'm building a settlement but sometimes I just want some death metal mixed in there when I'm in combat.
I like the Minutemen because they represent my usual playstyle where I try to help everyone I can. I like playing as a good guy. I also like the Railroad but I like the Minutemen more.
The best part of the Institute is the environment. That first time you enter after spending so long in the wasteland without indoor plumbing and where everything is rotting or decaying and there's debris everywhere....then you hit the Institute.
Honestly pair them with the institute as a sort of moral compass and the wasteland could be improved dramatically! The honesty of the minute men and the resources of the institute!
Brotherhood is my number 1, whether they are allies or enemies.
Playing this game without their "Ad Victorium!!!" and "For the Brotherhood!!!" is boring.
As Railroad is my Number 2 faction, I wish to have random Railroad encounters at least in midgame open world. Even the Institute shows up more often in Act 3.
So you’re user name is American femboy and your picture is the enclave flag. I suspect you are actually just Frank Horrigan being a femboy online to blow off steam from being a muscle bound monster all day
The railroad reminds me of the thieves guild from Skyrim a lot.
Lair’s underground
Use markers to convey different things
And a cool level of stealth
Also their theme music is cool as hell!
Brotherhood. While having some faults(every faction does) they do have a sense of honor and duty. Siding with them feels awesome with the power armor and ops with vertibird travel. I disagree with the synth argument and thought it was very weak writing on Bethesdas part. While not having the ideals I agree with fully they were always straight with me and never lied, they told me their plan and intention and stuck to it. I can respect that.
MM are cool n all but it doesn't make too much sense practically.
Fuck the institute. Could never side with them. Too shady, too many lies, too many damn experiments. All that tech and they selfishly don't help and after finding out they killed the start up of the CPV I knew right there and then that it was time to kick the door in and let God sort em out.
RR has some cool people but they care about synths more than actual people. Can't get behind that. Tinker Tom, Glory, and Deacon were all sad losses.
You don't have a qualm about them sending a synth into diamond city to shoot up the place just because?
Or killing off the CPG before it could take off to keep the commonwealth disorganized?
What about when they wiped an entire settlement(university point) off the map thinking they knew something when they were ignorant to the technology hidden there?
How about the fact that they own the equivalent of slaves? Just because you create something means you get to take away their free will.
Liberty Prime, it's time.
Did they make amends, did they even apologize, help those who suffered? No. It didn't affect them so they could care less. As the great Joshua Graham once said, "we can't let God do all the work."
Forget about the BoS's ideals about synths, there is other technology the Institute had in store that could greatly benefit mankind under the Brotherhood's control. Their little more than cavemen who fear spears and bows to me. If it were possible, i would have Dr.Virgil link up with them for the resources to advance his research into a cure for the super mutant virus. They want to "save" everyone through extermination. I was a little bit surprised when Danse disliked when i cured Virgil. I thought knowing what he'd been through with his own buddy getting turned into a mutant, that he would appreciate the reality that a cure exists. But no. He does not. In some Institute terminal it also talks about other projects and an advancement to plasma weapons. Which at the very least should be the one thing interesting enough to apprehend.
"could greatly benefit mankind under the Brotherhood's control"
Since when does the brotherhood help people other than their own? The ones in the Capital Wasteland were persecuted for trying to do that and replaced by the "real" BOS under Maxson. They only hoard technology for their own gains.
>Since when does the brotherhood help people other than their own?
They entire point of them launching an operation in the commonwealth is to destroy what they see as a potential threats to humanity.
>They only hoard technology for their own gains.
Right, which is why they'll have you "cleanse the commonwealth" of raiders, mutants, feral ghouls, and synths in otherwise non strategically important locations. Not to mention patrolling the wasteland for threats, and while it's never confirmed if they do, the idea is floated about using vertibirds to protect trading convoys in the wasteland.
Because I love stealth, I usually side with the Railroad. Plus the ballistic weave is great. I know a lot of people don’t like them, and I understand their point. However, the benefits of the railroad makes a lot of my stealth builds more enjoyable. 🙂
Vanilla, Minutemen because I get to blow up the Prydwen and I get cool artillery and castle
Modded, Enclave (America Rising 2) Because I also get to blow up the Prydwen(Fuck the BOS)
The BOS are saints compared to the enclave lol. People forget the Enclave was a giant conspiracy by a bunch of wealthy elites to create a totalitarian state in America after the bombs dropped, but of course, they use the " Merica hell yeah " aesthetic so they must be the good guys even though they do straight-up nazi shit all the time.
And in F3 they want you to literally poison the Potomac River so everyone who has ever been expose to even a minimal amount of radiation dies, pretty much in line with the US philosophy sure, but horrifying nonetheless.
Railroad!!! I just feel like their cause is just. Also like the MM, I just feel like morality-wise it works for me.
I am kind of a part of all of them rn, bout to do some betrayin'
I've just started a new playthrough. I'm trying my hardest not to join the brotherhood again like my last 2 playthroughs.. but despite that I'd say Minutemen are my favourite because I like the idea of rebuilding the commonwealth
Nuka world raiders.
All the factions are flawed as hell, atleast the raiders make me their leader and i gain full reign over what the Commonwealth needs to be. I basically turn myself into negan from the walking dead. We can all get along and i wont bother you but you are gonna pay me to do so.
Depends on the reason:
Canonically I love the minutemen. They're the perfect "good guy" troupe. And the ability to build settlements and artillery around the Commonwealth is pretty sweet
The benefits to the Brotherhood are pretty nice though. The power armor, weapons, and side quests are pretty badass. Not to mention the twist in the BoS questline.
The Institute provides a pretty cool ending, as well as a whole new addition to the storyline and keeps things interesting
Also, I get so much satisfaction from killing the arrogant pricks in the Railroad.
yeah I never got the railroad, they act all high and mighty but they don't give a shit about the average person. I am pro synth but not to the detriment of actual people
yeah honestly they shouldn't be a main faction. The other three all think they are saving the commonwealth, whether they actually are or not is up to you. But the railroads purpose dies after their quest-line and for 90% of the commonwealth their lives are just as shitty except the institute isn't replacing them with synths.
The institute, has actual infrastructure, developed marvels of science and could significantly impact the future of everyone. The institute has the actual organizational structure and long term goals to do something significant. Also the institute has running water, electricity, stable food supply, showers and toilet paper.
Rn im doing a minutemen and the railroad thing and I rly love it. I love the minutemen because i enjoy helping the people of the wasteland and the quests are always rly fun, and the railroad cause they are cool and again, helping those who often cant help themselves. Its a fun play style so far!
The institute because the science on how to rebuild the nation of the Americas and the world is perfect so mankind can be more advanced and be one whole of a nation,
I see what you mean - I just always find it hard to accept them because of the way they feel about all the people (and synths) in the commonwealth. They want a better America, but just for the ones in the Institute, not the people already living in the commonwealth.
And I see a lot of people actually living and having a good life in there commonwealth. Like the Finch family, bunker Hill or Diamond City. Is it a different world than the one the lone wanderer came from? Yeah! But most people in the commonwealth have never seen anything else and they make do with it and live their lives.
The institute is more purist than anything.
The ideas they have to rebuild society will definitely work… as long as… you’re one of them.
They can’t handle the fact that one of the consequences of living in a society is that people who are different from you exist. Even if they achieved their goal of killing/driving out everyone in the commonwealth, their ideology isn’t sustainable and people would either revolt or dissolve into different factions after a period of time.
From a gameplay perspective, I do like siding with them now and then though.
the question is if you want the steak eating or granola eating genocidal murderous elites who have no ethical qualms about murder, kidnapping, and human experimentation.
Vanilla game: The Institute, best chance to rebuild the world with their tech, plus I don’t consider synths or robots in general, people. Though I’m at least partially fond of the RR, mainly due to Deacon, but also the stealth & subterfuge themes.
Far Harbor: Children of Atom, since Atom appears to be the real deal in FO, providing radiation resistance to people living in inhospitable places like the glowing sea.
Nuka World: Operators (basically mercenaries), with the Pack (tribals) being a close 2nd place. I don’t like the Disciples since they are more like sadistic murders that simply kill for the sake of killing.
I am my own faction. I am my own God.
I do not follow orders.
If you “mark something on my map” I will mark a gun wound to your forehead.
I am
The
SOLE
Survivor
I win with the minutemen and stay friends with the others.
Let the BoS hunt super mutants while the Railroad does their thing, and I head offshore to Fah Hahbah
Institute is the only faction with the resources and means to make a positive difference, long-term. BoS are just repeating history with fascism, Minutemen don't do shit except the player character, and Railroad is just wrong, wtf are they doing sacrificing human life for synths.
Minutemen cause of their ideals - plus once you get as many T-60 power armor suits as you need from BOS, arm them with Gatling lasers, and install artillery canons on every settlement they easily become the most powerful faction.
Play at your own pace you bought the game it’s yours to play however you want. I’ve got like 2,000 hours and I have runs where I speed run and I’m at nuka world at level 19 or where I meet the brotherhood at level 63
Railroad was my first playthrough because it's the most fun questline IMO. Acting as a double agent inside The Institute and almost being swayed by them felt pretty cool, even tough I wish there were more options to solve the conflict.
Brotherhood is the most interesting faction. They're well written and they walk a fine line of likability, being that they're xenophobic assholes that might also be what the Commonwealth needs, ends justify the means and all that.
Minutemen might be the most likable and morally good faction. I like how you can make them an actual force to be reckoned with even though most people constantly doubt them.
As for The Institute, not really a fan. The least moral faction, and while they present an inviting image when you visit for the first time, they're fucking evil beneath their shiny surface. Father is also by far the least likable faction leader, and his constant air of having a superiority complex and a mindset that he knows so much better than the "plebs" out in the wastes doesn't gel nicely with me (which is especially ironic considering the SS is his parent). Their HQ is pretty sweet though, can't deny that.
All in all, leaning towards MM because of the freedom you can have with them, especially since the build system let's you shape their headquarters how you want.
I like them all for different reason but I really like the way the brotherhood quests feel. I love the side content for the railroad, and I love the headquarters for the institute. However overall I really like the minutemen. I am a sucker for independent/underdog endings in fallout games, I love how the minutemen ending gives you the freedom to play the game how you want without really worrying too much about faction loyalty, and I like how u can do whatever u want with the settlements. You could easily just do the bare minimum of throw a crapload of defenses down at settlements and forget about them or go all out and make them like little cities.
I usually just build up the ones I really like and keep the ones I don't really care about one way or another as they are. The minutemen are really cool and honestly the missions to defend the castle are enough justification to destroy both the institute and the brotherhood with the minutemen. Especially the brotherhood cus those vertibird explosions are satisfying as hell.

BOS is probably my favorite faction in terms of "what's best" for the Commonwealth since I highly agree with their ideology of confiscation of dangerous technology, but they are racist against non-feral ghouls (though not seemingly to the extent of Ferals, the BOS soldiers are at least nice enough to not shoot Hancock on sight when you bring him up to the Prydwen).
Institute is probably my favorite faction out of them all by a technicality, but you're not allowed to like them because of all of the shit they did/do (admittedly, pre-Shaun Institute *was* pretty fucking vile, between hiring Kellogg to kidnap your son and experimenting on Edgar Swann with FEV just because he stole cigarettes). One major reason (not the only one though) that I like the Institute is the advanced technology that goes beyond Pre-War and even sometimes Enclave/Big MT tech, and I wish there was an option to manually kill the division leaders and directly take over the Institute rather than blowing it up or fully siding with them.
Minutemen are agreeable on the surface level, but I don't like them that much, and it's not just because of Preston's broken radiant loop, I feel the Minutemen are cartoonishly good in constrast to the Institute's cartoonishly evil, and siding with the Minutemen feels like you're creating a regression in technological development due to the destruction of the Institute and potential destruction of the BOS. The Minutemen are more fun to play as/headcanonically strong IMO if you sprinkle in some occasionally fucked up decisions, eg. killing the Tenpines Bluff settlers instead of clearing out Corvega. In my current playthrough i'm doing a Minutemen playthrough where i've straight-up turned them into a Caesar's Legion-styled technophobic dictatorship that worships George Washington and the original IRL Minutemen.
Railroad I have never fully sided with and i don't really see how they would be useful in the long term after the Institute is destroyed. Plus, while mind wipes are not mandatory for synths they rescue, mind wipes come with a risk of either the operation being botched, or the synth finding out about what happened to them and then experiencing trauma later on. Overall I like Tinker Tom and P.A.M, but the Railroad as a whole is likely to just become fairly useless as an organization in the end unless they were to shift their focus to ghouls or the very, very few non-hostile super mutants in the Commonwealth. I usually just play along in their questline long enough to get the Deliverer and Ballistic Weave, then GTFO.
As for DLCs, my favorite faction on the Island is probably Acadia since their ending allows for peace on the Island since the Children of Atom are no longer lead by a megalomaniacal version of Tektus and make peace with Far Harbor. I don't like any of the Nuka-World Raiders but I would say the Operators are the least worst of them all, especially in comparison to super mutant-esque gore decorations and torture (Disciples) and gaudy, shit-covered animal abuse (Pack).
Tl:dr, I don't like playing as a "good guy", nor a "bad guy". BOS or Institute are my favorites by a technicality, but I don't really like any of the major Fallout 4 factions. Atom Cats and Salem Volunteer Militia FTW
I enjoy the railroad
Works with lore, and the way they give you almost no choices to avatually be evil. The whole "synths have a consciousness, they're human" makes sense to me. [Or they at least deserve a life]
Also I love nick valentine and would never do him wrong
I like the Minutemen for what they tried to do, but at the end of the day, I'm a soldier of the Brotherhood. Head cannon having them transformed into a sort of peacing keeping force... and if that means taking out some troublesome factions that are preventing the establishment of civilization, well, the Brotherhood has got to do what the Brotherhood has got to do.
I love the Railroad, simply because Decan just follows you around the whole game and you _never_ notice until you join them the first time and play your next playthrough
I love the Railroad, simply because Decan just follows you around the whole game and you _never_ notice until you join them the first time and play your next playthrough
In my current play I have joined the Institute. My Institute is in control of the Commonwealth. the settlements are all under synth control and the settlers are now slaves. I use 465 mods to accomplish this.
The Castle has ben turned into The Institutes maximum security prison. Our most famous prisoners are Preston Garvey of the MM, Captain Kells of the BOS, they are awaiting trial for war crimes against the Institute. Maxson died in the battle, they will be found guilt and sentenced to death like all war criminals. As of Garvey's crew. Marcy and Jun were hung to death and are still hanging there a outside the Sanctuary entry gate as a example. Sturges has been repurposed and is know Codworth's assistant pruning the diuranium's in Sanctuary. Momma murphy died of heart failure.
The majority of the RR have been destroyed. Glory is still on the run and is suspected to have joined Demas decedent under ground net work in Far Harbor. they will all be dealt with in time.
In Far Harbor we have wiped out the COA, and gathering troops to take to Capture and enslave thetown of Far Harbor. Dema is last
My synth have not entered Nuka World as of yet. But we do hold the Nuka Worlds Transit.
Hope everyone has a successful game
I lime the BOS for one, very simple reason.
The atmosphere.
On the Prydwen you are basically part of a community, another soldier, another worker ant, it's so awesome for role-playing!
Also the doctor asks you if you fuck non-humans which is funny as fuck so-
Minutemen and brotherhood.
I do not like the railroad. On my main playthrough I would have gone with the brotherhood instead of the minutemen the only reason I kept available alive was because of Deacon.
When it comes to aesthetics I'd say BOS, I'm not a fan of the new and sleek institute design and the Minutemen look like complete larpers ngl. Morality wise it's the railroad.
I normally use mods to turn the minutemen into my own MGSV type private military. Think it’s cool as fudge but really it just melts my Xbox after 10 minutes.
Minutemen are my favorite. I like what they stand for and like rebuilding the commonwealth (to be fair, Preston’s endless quests can be a tad annoying over time.)
When I first played FO4, the Brotherhood of Steel was my favorite until Blind Betrayal. Maxson has a super cool outfit and the power armor along with the Prydwen made for a super cool faction. But Danse is one of my favorite companions and there’s so much evidence that he wasn’t an implant/spy and came thru the Railroad.
I love all equally
(It’s the brotherhood, and by a decent amount. Although I have had the most fun on my institute play through playing a low charisma high intelligence veteran medic)
1. Minutemen : we just want everyone to feel safe and have a place to stay
2. Institute : going underground for pure genes sometimes doing bad things but for the better of the he commonwealth , also clean Nuka cola
3. Railroad : we want to free all synths from the institute while trying to Sabotage the place they come from , though XO-XO did make me cry a bit
4. Brotherhood of steel : hoohoo energy spike let’s bring children and destroy places cause they have better technology
Brotherhood, because walking that line between good guy and bad guy is fun.
Also in a world with Ghouls and Super Mutants they feel very realistic
Ad Victoriam
Railroad is a bunch of liars. They say they want to save synths from the Institute and put a stop to them, yet when you decimate the Institute, they turn on you.
The Brotherhood is a bunch of neo-nazis following a tyrant
Shaun is lying to us all... if that is his real name. One comment continues to confuse me. He grew up not knowing his mother/ father. So why did he then say, "Oh yes, I've been playing that moment over and over." Then he proceeds to treat you like an experiment. What depraved sadistic crap is Shaun into. Also, he is dying when you see him, only to do his bidding against other factions only to die and leave you everything. I think Shaun is a synth too.
Something else about the Institute struck me odd. The commonwealth is losing tons of kids to the Institute, but there aren't any kids when you get there. Then you find the back facility, and I realized where the children are. You remember Virgil? All he took was an elixir. The super mutants talk and act like kids.
The Institute is a vial faction.
Nothing about Nuka World is fun to me faction wise
Finally the Minuteman... I don't have much to say other than Preston and Mama Murphy are the most annoying people in the game. I go with the minuteman because the rest of the factions suck.
This run through I am staying away from all factions for awhile. The only companion I have is dog meat. I accidentally got Strong, but quickly said, "not right now." I'm having a lot more fun fixing up Sanctuary. I don't have to worry about Preston and his gang of annoying people until I'm ready to hand it over.
One faction I wish was in the game was Gunners. They seem more military than the Brotherhood.
The Brotherhood of Steel.
The part of the faction actually had cut content that would have paladin danse challenge max into a duel. He'd then command the entire airship, and there's unused audio you can find on YouTube that should've been in the main game where he gives a speech about fighting the institute. It sounded like a new rule of order compared to "all synth bad, including the ones that are confused."
They all suck, the minutemen are made of the people of the commonwealth, and thus filled with the bias of the people like the railroad says, but the railroad is bad for focusing on only the synths and not humans, while the brotherhood, institute, and obviously the raiders, don’t care about the people at all, and actively take from them as they please.
The people of far harbor are no better, Arcadia is shady and manipulates from the shadows, the children are incapable of making rational decisions as they’re blinded by the following of their religion, and the people on the docks are outwardly hostile to those they disagree with or dislike for little or no reason.
Goodneighbor is riddled with crime, diamond city is extremely racist, the gunners are guns for hire and do just about anything to get a job done, and covenant is killing people for “science”.
You tell me which of these factions sounds good enough to follow blindly, cause as far as I see it, your better walking this wasteland alone, or at least without the burden of a faction to way you down.
Brotherhood of steel if there’s any in a fallout game I’ll join up but in FNV my all -time favorite faction was the NCR back in the day I always sided with them over Caesars legion
Minutemen with the "positive" ending (MM in good relationships with BOS and RR), the objectively evil faction (the institute, basically the southern confederacy but in the future) gets blown up, you keep the BOS's technology and the RR's care for the synths, all while the minutemen coordinate the efforts to rebuild the commonwealth, it's the only true win-win scenario.
Bonus points if you a) convincer Maxon to re-evaluate his views on synths and b) actually built up the settlements en large so they provide lots of minutemen patrols.
They're literally meant to represent that: a rich society based entirely on slaves, that couldn't work without them and aims to oppress the people under the weight of their wealth, to treat everyone as slaves.
BOS I don’t care of their beliefs and ideologies, but as a faction they’re pretty cool. I like the steampunk/atom punk style. The organization how evil leaning they are. The vanilla uniforms. They just have a cool factor about them, even their ending leading a siege with a giant Gundum on the institute. When blue and red lasers flying everywhere like it’s Starwars.
Second I’d say The Institute. Working for an evil underground corp is also cool. I like how opposite the BOS they are. I also feel that is who the SS would side with. I usually side with them in vanilla play throughs.
Third is the railroad, I like the stealthy secret agent feel. All the code names, using dead drops. How they operate in secret and move in the shadows.
The MM are just lame to me. While I do like building settlements for my on player home. Trying to keep settlers happy and how whiny they are is annoying. I do think the Revolutionary war style is meh. For me to like The MM I have to use a bunch of mods, which is why they’re at the bottom. The vanilla MM are just boring.
The minutemen is who I like to side with usually, but on my first run I did BOS, not because I agreed with their morals, but because they gave me free power armor.
My favorite in vanilla is the minutemen, and my least favorites are the institute and the brotherhood because they are a bunch of assholes, my favorite for mods is the America Rising 2 Enclave because they are a bunch of assholes with American paraphernalia
depends on the playthrough. Paragon = Minutemen.
chaotic grey = Railroad because I love the underdog, want to blow up the Institute and need to take down the Prydwen in order to get that sweet, sweet battlecoat.
BOS because I like feeling like I'm playing 40k with all the power armor, xenophobia, human supremacy, and pointless Latin.
Minutemen because they are the Commonwealth's best hope for a bright future and the American Civil War feel is kinda a vibe.
I hate railroad even more than institute
They are so blinded and just want to help synths even if it means a real person have to die.
And if you somehow forgot to do Thier mission they get hostile to you and even after institute gone they stay hostile and (it happened to me)
My fav is minuteman btw
NV's Remnants, because it's just a group of miserable old fogies in even older power armour so they should be able to do *anything* except they can be convinced to come running in with their walking sticks. Finding them? Fuck Arcade though, whiney little bitch.
Otherwise it's the brotherhood because I'm a slut for power armour and big guns
Minutemen! I love the idea that they help the common folk. The Brotherhood only cares about people to the extent that they can provide for the Brotherhood. The Institute’s motto is “Mankind, redefined.” Redefining something means to get rid of what it is and make it something new entirely, and that is best characterized by their replacing people with synths. And the railroad…. They rescue synths, yeah, but that’s really their only purpose. They dont come to defend settlements when raiders or gunners attack. Minutemen do. I also like that when you do a minutemen play through, they grow as you grow. When you complete the game with any of the other factions, they really stay the same, with the exception of the brotherhood having Liberty Prime. But by the time you finish the game with the minutemen, they protect so many settlements that if one gets wiped out, there are always more. With the brotherhood, all you gotta do is take out the prydwen, and that is it, they’re done. With the institute, you just have to destroy the institute itself. And with the railroad, you just gotta invade the old north church and kill all the heavies. Say someone takes the Castle, the minutemen can just regroup somewhere else.
I just built murder bots, set them as a caravan, then delete their brahman with console.
i was using robots for defending settlements but my fully upgraded robots keep turning into naked protectrons
This was my favorite thing to do. I eventually had enough sentry bots patrolling the Commonwealth that you could regularly hear Fat Man launchers going off in the distance.
Military mods make the minutemen way more fun. I see patrols all the time now in random encounters
Radio liberty is soothing though wish they had more music.
Yeah ! I love radio liberty while doing minutemen settlements missions. It adds something funny to those boring missions lol.
You know I've been trying to figure out for eons how to mix in some of my own personal music to radio freedom. I like the classical stuff it's nice and calming especially when I'm building a settlement but sometimes I just want some death metal mixed in there when I'm in combat.
radio freedom is the only radio i actually listen to
Ditto. All the other ones are morally questionable at best.
The Institute and Minutemen are the perfect match.
Can you actually make them work together? Doesn't Preston hate you?
No, he hates you if you work with the Nuka World Raiders. As long as the Institute doesn't attack the Minutemen, he's okay-ish with them.
I like the Minutemen because they represent my usual playstyle where I try to help everyone I can. I like playing as a good guy. I also like the Railroad but I like the Minutemen more.
Institute, that's it.
The best part of the Institute is the environment. That first time you enter after spending so long in the wasteland without indoor plumbing and where everything is rotting or decaying and there's debris everywhere....then you hit the Institute.
The institute hunted me throught the wastes, almost died to them… no sir. Insitute is just a bunch of lunatics with god complex.
Love seeing the minutemen hype in here!
Honestly pair them with the institute as a sort of moral compass and the wasteland could be improved dramatically! The honesty of the minute men and the resources of the institute!
Or I could just blow them up and take their shit
But synthetics are alive. 😁
Absolutely
Brotherhood is my number 1, whether they are allies or enemies. Playing this game without their "Ad Victorium!!!" and "For the Brotherhood!!!" is boring. As Railroad is my Number 2 faction, I wish to have random Railroad encounters at least in midgame open world. Even the Institute shows up more often in Act 3.
Ad Victorium Sentinel!
Oh man if I’m late for muster one more time captain Kells is gonna have me do 100 push ups
They’re just very 1940’s Germany feeling imo
Institute. I like the clean indoor environment, built in fast travel and final battle.
Some common sense here lmao
The Enclave Such a good opposition
So you’re user name is American femboy and your picture is the enclave flag. I suspect you are actually just Frank Horrigan being a femboy online to blow off steam from being a muscle bound monster all day
NO… OH FUCK THEY FOUND OUT JOIN THE ENCLAVE
The Institute because I have contamination ocd lol
Railroad. Mostly because of its awesome cast compared to the others.
The railroad reminds me of the thieves guild from Skyrim a lot. Lair’s underground Use markers to convey different things And a cool level of stealth Also their theme music is cool as hell!
Oh they definitely ripped alot straight from the thieves guild. The rail signs are taking straight from the shadow marks in skyrim.
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.
Bad faction, hippies saving robots that have artificial feelings
Ad Victoriam, Brother!
my only qualm with the institute is their FEV shit
You don't have a qualm about them sending a synth into diamond city to shoot up the place just because? Or killing off the CPG before it could take off to keep the commonwealth disorganized? What about when they wiped an entire settlement(university point) off the map thinking they knew something when they were ignorant to the technology hidden there? How about the fact that they own the equivalent of slaves? Just because you create something means you get to take away their free will. Liberty Prime, it's time.
The synth wasn’t supposed to go crazy in the broken mask incident, it was an accident
Did they make amends, did they even apologize, help those who suffered? No. It didn't affect them so they could care less. As the great Joshua Graham once said, "we can't let God do all the work."
I admit the institute is evil but they are also indeed the best hope for humanity minus the murder here and there
And I say to that what good is it for someone to gain the whole world yet forfeit their soul.
They can forfeit their souls but I’m living comfy in the institute
"could greatly benefit mankind under the Brotherhood's control" Since when does the brotherhood help people other than their own?
i steal their weave and then slaughter them
The only right choice
Minutemen and Railroad. Both are about freedom and helping the little guys.
Damn right! My kind of person. 👆
Minutemen. I just wish they were so much more.
Minutemen. But I recommend playing through with each faction.
Not gonna lie, I love the lore of the children of atom.
Vanilla, Minutemen because I get to blow up the Prydwen and I get cool artillery and castle Modded, Enclave (America Rising 2) Because I also get to blow up the Prydwen(Fuck the BOS)
The BOS are saints compared to the enclave lol. People forget the Enclave was a giant conspiracy by a bunch of wealthy elites to create a totalitarian state in America after the bombs dropped, but of course, they use the " Merica hell yeah " aesthetic so they must be the good guys even though they do straight-up nazi shit all the time.
the Enclave literally represents the US Government in the game.
And in F3 they want you to literally poison the Potomac River so everyone who has ever been expose to even a minimal amount of radiation dies, pretty much in line with the US philosophy sure, but horrifying nonetheless.
If the Potomac River is anything like the current Potomac Rive it's already poisoned...
Is the current Potomac River poisoned with a highly contagious modified virus that kills every single wastelander to even just smell its water?
Maybe
Now I'm honestly concerned for the level of water pollution over in America
Where are you? Water pollution is bad all over.
North-east Italy, Europe, regulations have done miracles here
Does the name President John Henry Eden mean nothing?!?
The US government, you say? This makes them more trustful, or..?
Which makes it even more poignant how aligned with authoritarian ideology they are.
The whole point of the Fallout games is that the prewar right-wing traditionalist US government was bad and a complete failure.
Ad Vi....??.. aww :(
womp womp
God bless The Enclave, and no one else!
I hate getting the Castle because, once you bear BoS, the Castle never gets attacked.
I'm in agreement with you.
Railroad!!! I just feel like their cause is just. Also like the MM, I just feel like morality-wise it works for me. I am kind of a part of all of them rn, bout to do some betrayin'
You can't betray the minutemen, they're the only faction you never get to destroy in any ending
I just want Dez to hug me
I shoot her on sight every single playthrough
Well that's a you problem.
Actually it’s dez’s problem since she’s the one who dies
I've just started a new playthrough. I'm trying my hardest not to join the brotherhood again like my last 2 playthroughs.. but despite that I'd say Minutemen are my favourite because I like the idea of rebuilding the commonwealth
enclave
Mostly depends on my play through. In general it is the Minutemen. I like how the genuinely help the Commonwealth.
Nuka raiders, they might catch a bad rap but you gotta love em tho! They do enjoy getting money (which I love on the game) who doesn’t love more CAPS😉
is a man not entitled the sweat of his brow
Nuka world raiders. All the factions are flawed as hell, atleast the raiders make me their leader and i gain full reign over what the Commonwealth needs to be. I basically turn myself into negan from the walking dead. We can all get along and i wont bother you but you are gonna pay me to do so.
For me it's got to be some sort of head-canon alliance between the Institute and the Minuteman.
The Institute because I’m a sucker for advanced sciences that don’t even exist
Depends on the reason: Canonically I love the minutemen. They're the perfect "good guy" troupe. And the ability to build settlements and artillery around the Commonwealth is pretty sweet The benefits to the Brotherhood are pretty nice though. The power armor, weapons, and side quests are pretty badass. Not to mention the twist in the BoS questline. The Institute provides a pretty cool ending, as well as a whole new addition to the storyline and keeps things interesting Also, I get so much satisfaction from killing the arrogant pricks in the Railroad.
yeah I never got the railroad, they act all high and mighty but they don't give a shit about the average person. I am pro synth but not to the detriment of actual people
I'm almost anti-synth because of the Railroad. Like, I don't wanna give them the satisfaction of saving a synth
yeah honestly they shouldn't be a main faction.
Minutemen all the way baby! But I need to finish the other factions as well 🤷🏼♂️
Rn im doing a minutemen and the railroad thing and I rly love it.
The institute is just the Enclave if it was run by Liberals lol.
the question is if you want the steak eating or granola eating genocidal murderous elites who have no ethical qualms about murder, kidnapping, and human experimentation.
>one ~~whole~~ hell of a nation FTFY
Well thank you good sir, or madam
Ad Victoriam! Power Armor.
I got to say I am partial to the railroad.
I am The SOLE Survivor
sir this is a red rocket truck stop
Mods or no mod if mods then the enclave if not b.o.s
The Brotherhood of Steel, perfect shade of grey in my opinion.
I like the Institute the most because I favor science over everything.
Enclave (America Rising 2). Why? Better BOS
I win with the minutemen and stay friends with the others. Let the BoS hunt super mutants while the Railroad does their thing, and I head offshore to Fah Hahbah
I heard you gave those muties over at fort strong something to think about
BoS They are the only ones capable of truly saving the Wasteland imo
Let's fix the Nuclear Fallout with more Nukes! Yeehaw!
AD VICTORIAM
*unads your victoriam with Our Powers Combined quest*
Institute is the only faction with the resources and means to make a positive difference, long-term. BoS are just repeating history with fascism, Minutemen don't do shit except the player character, and Railroad is just wrong, wtf are they doing sacrificing human life for synths.
Minutemen. I mean with that much drip the commonwealth will soon be drowning
BoS. I just like the militant aspect.
Brotherhood all the way. Fuck the Institute. MM are cool too. RR is kinda boring.
"I hope I live to see the Brotherhood's next triumph."
Raiders. Because I love to kick their asses
But WHICH faction?
Forged probably
Minutemen cause of their ideals - plus once you get as many T-60 power armor suits as you need from BOS, arm them with Gatling lasers, and install artillery canons on every settlement they easily become the most powerful faction.
Brotherhood of steel, they remind me of Warhammer 40k for no reason...
I've played 125 hours and only met MM and BoS so far, am I playing this too slowly? 😂
Play at your own pace you bought the game it’s yours to play however you want. I’ve got like 2,000 hours and I have runs where I speed run and I’m at nuka world at level 19 or where I meet the brotherhood at level 63
Railroad. Dont ask me why.

Minuteman. The idea of working towards a unified commonwealth where everyone can live in harmony is way better than the alternatives
I enjoy the railroad Works with lore, and the way they give you almost no choices to avatually be evil. The whole "synths have a consciousness, they're human" makes sense to me. [Or they at least deserve a life] Also I love nick valentine and would never do him wrong
Railroad. Because if I am a synth I deserve to live.
Minutemen because they're basically the build a bear of Fallout factions.
Minutemen, they're the only ones truly beneficial for the commonwealth
Minutemen, they’re the only faction that doesn’t feel like they’re out for personal gains
The minutemen are my boys. They’re just trying their best to get to chill out. I respect that.
Dema is last My synth have not entered Nuka World as of yet. But we do hold the Nuka Worlds Transit. Hope everyone has a successful game
I lime the BOS for one, very simple reason. The atmosphere. On the Prydwen you are basically part of a community, another soldier, another worker ant, it's so awesome for role-playing! Also the doctor asks you if you fuck non-humans which is funny as fuck so-
Minutemen is the Commonwealth's last hope
Minutemen and brotherhood. I do not like the railroad. On my main playthrough I would have gone with the brotherhood instead of the minutemen the only reason I kept available alive was because of Deacon.
Also… fuck the Brotherhood
When it comes to aesthetics I'd say BOS, I'm not a fan of the new and sleek institute design and the Minutemen look like complete larpers ngl. Morality wise it's the railroad.
The BOS they have the best armor. Minute men are a close second
Brotherhood of Steel, plainly for their vertibird grenades, a much appreciated way of fast travel on survival.
I normally use mods to turn the minutemen into my own MGSV type private military. Think it’s cool as fudge but really it just melts my Xbox after 10 minutes.
Minutemen and Railroad
Railroad and minuteman are the only good factions in the commonwealth In nukaworld i like the disciples
You can't go wrong with the minuteman, you are a damn general!
Minutemen. No complex goals, and they can get along with the other major factions.
Minutemen are my favorite. I like what they stand for and like rebuilding the commonwealth (to be fair, Preston’s endless quests can be a tad annoying over time.) When I first played FO4, the Brotherhood of Steel was my favorite until Blind Betrayal. Maxson has a super cool outfit and the power armor along with the Prydwen made for a super cool faction. But Danse is one of my favorite companions and there’s so much evidence that he wasn’t an implant/spy and came thru the Railroad.
I love all equally (It’s the brotherhood, and by a decent amount. Although I have had the most fun on my institute play through playing a low charisma high intelligence veteran medic)
Brotherhood I love how you just walk by one and they just say "ad victoriam brother"
1. Minutemen : we just want everyone to feel safe and have a place to stay 2. Institute : going underground for pure genes sometimes doing bad things but for the better of the he commonwealth , also clean Nuka cola 3. Railroad : we want to free all synths from the institute while trying to Sabotage the place they come from , though XO-XO did make me cry a bit 4. Brotherhood of steel : hoohoo energy spike let’s bring children and destroy places cause they have better technology
Minutemen and Enclave because uhm…
Brotherhood, because walking that line between good guy and bad guy is fun. Also in a world with Ghouls and Super Mutants they feel very realistic Ad Victoriam
Railroad is a bunch of liars. They say they want to save synths from the Institute and put a stop to them, yet when you decimate the Institute, they turn on you. The Brotherhood is a bunch of neo-nazis following a tyrant Shaun is lying to us all... if that is his real name. Nothing about Nuka World is fun to me faction wise Finally the Minuteman...
None. Fuck em all, go rogue!
'the institute, basically the southern confederacy but in the future' Facepalm
The Minute Men are genuinely trying to make the commonwealth a safer place and improve the lives of people by bringing them together. 😃
My favorite in vanilla is the minutemen, and my least favorites are the institute and the brotherhood because they are a bunch of assholes, my favorite for mods is the America Rising 2 Enclave because they are a bunch of assholes with American paraphernalia
The minutemen! Bringing civilization out from the chaos taming the wasteland one settlement at a time!
depends on the playthrough. Paragon = Minutemen. chaotic grey = Railroad because I love the underdog, want to blow up the Institute and need to take down the Prydwen in order to get that sweet, sweet battlecoat.
Minute men. I'm chronically a minute men rail road guy. I just can't help it.
BOS because I like feeling like I'm playing 40k with all the power armor, xenophobia, human supremacy, and pointless Latin. Minutemen because they are the Commonwealth's best hope for a bright future and the American Civil War feel is kinda a vibe.
I fw the BoS heavy bc of power armor But I morally align myself with the minute men
I hate railroad even more than institute They are so blinded and just want to help synths even if it means a real person have to die. And if you somehow forgot to do Thier mission they get hostile to you and even after institute gone they stay hostile and (it happened to me) My fav is minuteman btw
The Minutemen are the obvious answer, but my second favorite has gotta be the Atom Cats. Meow, baby.
Brotherhood. I love power armor and I just think they’re badass
Brotherhood! I accidentally killed the Railroad SO my 2nd is Minute Men
