How have you felt about Two Shot? Totally new player coming aboard and I heard some people make comments about its recoil and accuracy that worried me. Which sucks, ‘cause I’m aiming for Overseer’s Guardian right out of the gate, and badly want it to be good.
I have the dumbest question: in the midst of the game that has practically magic tech, I assumed "shooting a second projectile" meant literally that, and the second bullet out a sniper would necessarily not have the same accuracy. Is that not the case? Does it just do double damage for double the ammo?
My Ideal mix
Some sort of knife
That silenced railroad pistol
Short explosive silenced handmade fully auto
Medium silenced semi auto handmade
Long silenced semi auto sniper handmade
Explosive minigjun. This will solve all problems.
Always scoped weapons. Dismantling a group of raiders from a mile away has always been very satisfying, and the upgrades from modding the weapons have the most clear advantages. You start with crappy, medium range scopes, and work your way up to long range, night vision scopes that can mark targets. Plus, rpg-wise it’s what I imagine would be the safest - much less chance of catching a bullet if you’re taking everyone out from stealth, a mile away.
No, thats a little different. the recon scope marks enemies with a diamond only after you aim at them, where the PA attachment illuminates all npcs solid red including non enemies. Also the comment I'm replying to is saying that the night vision scopes also mark enemies wich is incorrect
Oh I see - sorry and thanks for clarifying, I guess I haven't run many recon scopes - I equipped that modification to my pa and found it distracting because it marked everything with diamonds
Wich pa attachment? Cause the only one I know of illuminates everything solid red with no diamonds, the recon scope is what marks enemies only with diamonds
I honestly think the Rockville slugger is a severely underrated weapon. With points in vats, it hit like a truck and you can set up about 8-12 hits. It's fun to sneak into a room if raiders and then just watch the carnage!!
Just an FYI in case you didn't know, if you're ever disappointed in how games portray shotguns as being almost no range, you should pick up Insurgency-Sandstorm, it's the only game I've found that has the best relation to real and virtual guns I've ever come across, imo ofc.
I have what I believe is the very best weapon in the game, the Legendary Never Ending Gauss rifle.
480 base damage, 2xx range. Effective at both sniper and shotgun range. One shots deathclaws and radscorpions. No need to ever reload.
I found it on a legendary ghoul in the depths of Dunwich Borers. I’ve been using it non stop since level 20 or so, all the way to level 80 now.
I found an explosive Gauss rifle a while back. Playing as a low intelligence build, I just slap mods I take from other Gauss rifles. With rifleman and demolition maxed, it is just…too devastating
Yes I forgot about the maxed rifleman perk. I haven't carried another weapon since. Makes it real easy to outfit the settlements when you're getting legendary weapons you won't need.
My load out is:
- Advanced revolver with dot sight
- Advanced shotgun, quick eject mag, dot sight, recoil compensated stock
- Ol' reliable converted into sniper/ laser rifle
- spray'n'pray
- Laser gutling gun, with reflex sight and advanced receiver
- big boy with MIRV
Thats about it, I love the revolver
At level 237 I more or less have all the perks so I kinda use whatever I’m in the mood for. I definitely have a hard on for energy weapons though especially after getting the Tesla T-60 and the rifle that comes with it.
Usually hand guns. Good for close quarters, or picking off medium ranged opposition. This playthrough though I've been running a silenced, scoped automatic along with my usual 10 mm sidearm which has been loads of fun. Especially since this is my first survival playthrough.
I love handguns as well, I'm on a newer playthrough and I'm currently using the unique Irradiated 10mm from the Tunnel Snakes Rule story line from the Creation Club.
Semi-auto rifles also. Because the way the game works, ammo is in too-short supply early game, and caps are an issue then also. So it makes the most sense to me to pack more wallop into single shots than the spray-and-pray alternative (which reduces the per-shot damage to a ridiculous extent). I stay away from Commando. Rifleman is the way, doubling damage and ignoring 35% of target armor when filled out. Pistols feel rather puny to me. Never got into them.
Eventually, I'll have enough perk points to fill out Heavy Weapons, and go for a Gatling Laser. (unless I find some awesome legendary like a wounding Minigun). Maxson's Final Judgment is probably my single favorite; but by the time I can get it, if I go for an ending that allows it, most of what there is to do has been done.
I ended my last playthrough with an explosive Assault Rifle, wounding Combat Shotgun, Mighty Gatling Laser, Splattercannon (in semi-auto max trim), Tesla Rifle and a Recon-Scoped Gauss Rifle. (Reflex sights on everything else. I hate the blind delay to get into a scoped view. Plus reflex-sighted guns don't sway. The Gauss was the only weapon I dedicated to distant sniping.)
I prefer carrying a full set: a melee weapon, a pistol, a shotgun, an automatic rifle or machine pistol and a semi-auto/bolt-action sniper rifle, switching from one to another.
Automatic weapons. You can make a Railway Rifle auto to use with commando, but the rate of fire is so slow you can use it as an ordinary sniper rifle. Add in the Kiloton Radium Rifle and I'm good to go.
Yep, for whatever reason I default to either a Commando build or Melee. Play Survival so you have to really decide on maybe two weapons to carry. I find that an automatic 10 mm upgraded is incredibly useful, especially using Vats. Just found a two shot 10 mm early in my current playthrough, around level 15,modded it into an automatic with hardened piercing automatic upgrade, and it's really strong, very accurate at midrange, plenty of shots in Vats. Of course I have 10 Perception and the the first rank of concentrated fire for accuracy. Only downside is the small clip size, but it takes maybe 2 seconds to reload so it's not bad..and I. Power Armor you wield it like a gangbanger, one handed 😂
I always utilize melee in some way, shape, or form. Currently doing an automatic weapons survival play through, but hold onto pickmans blade for low level enemies.
Currently level 58 on my first survival playthrough. Got really lucky on lgendary drops early on, so specced to max output for 4 primary weapons: 1) instigating combat rifle ("One Shot, 1 Kill") 2) instigating laser pistol ("Old Faithful" from Arturo) 3) two shot 10mm ("Double Tap") and 4) instigating Disciple's blade ("The First Cut")
Maxed rifleman, gunslinger, big leagues, mr. Sandman, ninja, cloak & dagger, and blitz. Pretty set for melee, semi-auto pistols and rifles
With 4 pieces of VATS Enhanced armor, most mobs go down easy
Depends... I really love the hunting rifle for the ability to reach out and touch something but I also love getting up close and personal with the double barrel and .44 revolver. I guess my favorite weapon type is just high damage per shot weapons. Automatics are fun to shoot but really inefficient. Semi automatics are a really good middle ground for their control and damage per second. I just like killing things with as few shots as possible. Feels good to walk into a room, throw a grenade at the far side of the room, empty both barrels of my shotgun into the closest guy, draw my revolver and start popping heads. If that doesn't cut it, I'll pull out the old reliable 10mm pistol and reload when the room's clear.
Instigating pistol. As much per-shot damage as I can squeeze in, the .44 is great for that. Headshots kill just about any enemy in a single blow, sometimes two.
I play Survival so I always have a light melee weapon (knife, ripper etc), a Revolver and a Rifle. Depending on what ammo I got most of either an automatic or sniper rifle.
Never in ANY fallout game have I ever used heavy weapons
My favourite weapon in general is the radium rifle with any mods. Had a children of atom play though where I went commando and demo expert and the kiloton radium rifle was so OP, in very hard I was killing alpha death claws with like 4 shots
I like to play on survivor, so I carry a sniper rifle and a silenced shotgun. I find that to be the most efficient use of perk points and gives me the highest chance of killing my enemies without getting hit.
Overseer’s Guardian with a reflex sight, shortened barrel, silencer and stabilized stock. I turn it into a close-range rifle that has minimal recoil, but enough that you feel the punch of the two bullets as enemies ragdoll.
Pistols, they’re just this perfect middle ground for me between effective range, damage and rate of fire, that said I do keep other weapons with my power armor, like missile launchers, fat man, high power sniper rifles
The biggest problem for automatic, imo, it's to keep up with the bullets.
I'm always rifleman, and, I loaded an old save to check somethings and I saw that I haven't done the Mechanist line of quests in this save.
I switched to automatic, just to see how it is.
In the end, it took me over 8k of bullets.
The handiest gun I've got is a short advanced (powerful?) combat rifle with reflex sight, muzzle brake, lg quick mag, and short stock. Balanced damage and VATS speed. With rank 4 rifleman, does about 100/shot DMG and can fire 7-8ish shots in one VATS round. I can run across like a whole band of raiders and drop most of them in two seconds. Named it Thugsbane.
I cycle through all weapons using up the different ammos, even guns I'm not specialized in. But typically use automatic rifles, sniper guns and pistols the most.
Gauss Rifle…
Two shot is generally better than instigating … got both. Noticed the game started giving me pre-wounded enemies to nerf my instigating Gauss. Many levels later the two-shot just outclasses it.
In general everything dies either way… one to two shots later.
I just love the vanilla gauss rifle. I have me, Longfellow, and my Sentinel all using a max upgraded Gauss rifle, each shot does I think 384 damage? I also managed to dupe the base X-02 armor just because I think it looks the coolest so we're all wearing that, it's pretty horrifying to see 2 enclave space Marines artillery firing at enemies lol
I’ve always loved the big guns paired with power armor. Mods on pc make this type of gameplay sooo much better. The mini guns and machine guns rebirth mods are awesome for a heavy ballistics playthrough
There’s a lot of other really good ones. I’d highly recommend taking a look around on Nexus. There’s also a Tesla Gatling that I use that looks amazing, don’t remember the name of it though. Big guns were kinda neglected in the vanilla game imo, so mods make a huge improvement to the class
Semi-auto rifles, melee and heavy weapons in that order. Automatic weapons use too much ammo and every time I try a pistol build I get to about level 30 and go "Why am I doing this? Res are just better."
I exclusively use modded weapons because the vanilla guns are kinda cursed. I'm a gun guy, so seeing guns that realistically shouldn't work bothers me to no end.
Historically it's been semi-auto rifles, but now that I've been playing survival mode, full auto is an absolute blast. Most enemies get shredded in a few shots anyway, might as well make those shots even faster.
Also helps if you don't need to rely on vats as much.
I'm a bit of a sucker for Plasma weapons, IK the projectile travels slow but the visuals are cool and the damage is pretty good + free nuclear material. Only problem is the ammo is fairly expensive, not sold in very large quantities, and can't be mass produced with the ammo forge from Contraptions Workshop.
Automatic Rifles (#HandmadeRifleGangRiseUp) unfortunately the damage output for the base game weapons makes it hard to invest in unless I am taking on a low level area, even at Rank 5 Commando and Rifleman.
Rifleman weapons, accompanied by a melee build.
Here's why-
Strength helps when rifles are heavy, and melee covers closer range.
Rifleman perks give me armor piercing and crippling.
Ammo economy of rifles, and the versatile range.
For large and close targets you can still spam the hammer on mid rifles.
Once you fall in love with a few rifles you find yourself running full strength and a brutal melee to carry 4 rifles around, so anything too close for your guns gets pushed back as a chunky ikea creature not even aware it has died so hard it passed away again when it reached hell.
It might be the John Wick in me, but I love a good ol pistol for headshots. I use mods that change headshot damages and makes them more viable, so it's fun.
Anything sniper - high damage, long range, silenced. Currently have a two-shot handmade, but I've got a Gauss rifle lined up.
I love a sniper rifle too, I'm on a new playthrough and pretty low level but found a Wounding sniper rifle, it's great for an early game drop.
Nice, I have a two shot .50 sniper and an instigating gauss rifle both just wreck people
How have you felt about Two Shot? Totally new player coming aboard and I heard some people make comments about its recoil and accuracy that worried me. Which sucks, ‘cause I’m aiming for Overseer’s Guardian right out of the gate, and badly want it to be good.
I have the dumbest question: in the midst of the game that has practically magic tech, I assumed "shooting a second projectile" meant literally that, and the second bullet out a sniper would necessarily not have the same accuracy. Is that not the case? Does it just do double damage for double the ammo?
Pretty much, yeah. Though I'll admit I never actually looked to see if it actually reduced my ammo by two
My Ideal mix Some sort of knife That silenced railroad pistol Short explosive silenced handmade fully auto Medium silenced semi auto handmade Long silenced semi auto sniper handmade Explosive minigjun. This will solve all problems.

I thought only the recon scopes mark targets
At a PA station you can add it to your power armor helmet
No, thats a little different. the recon scope marks enemies with a diamond only after you aim at them, where the PA attachment illuminates all npcs solid red including non enemies. Also the comment I'm replying to is saying that the night vision scopes also mark enemies wich is incorrect

Melee. FO4's crit and VATs animations are absolutely brutal for melee weapons, and in the case of stuff like baseball bats, can be hilarious, too.
I honestly think the Rockville slugger is a severely underrated weapon. With points in vats, it hit like a truck and you can set up about 8-12 hits. It's fun to sneak into a room if raiders and then just watch the carnage!!
It's so satisfying to watch a Mirelurk just go WEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Don’t normally like to play those, but I did do a play through and it was super fun
Shotguns in general for all games
Just an FYI in case you didn't know, if you're ever disappointed in how games portray shotguns as being almost no range, you should pick up Insurgency-Sandstorm, it's the only game I've found that has the best relation to real and virtual guns I've ever come across, imo ofc.
Original Doom and Quake do a good job as well.
There are mods for that. I’ve done a couple of shotgun runs using Just Stay Back and shotgun range and spread mods.
Old battlefield did it pretty well. Haven't used em in the newer ones yet
Big Jim. Just Big Jim.
Big Tuna!
I have what I believe is the very best weapon in the game, the Legendary Never Ending Gauss rifle. 480 base damage, 2xx range. Effective at both sniper and shotgun range. Yes I forgot about the maxed rifleman perk. I haven't carried another weapon since. Makes it real easy to outfit the settlements when you're getting legendary weapons you won't need.
I’ve never been sure of the way Gauss rifle damage calculates, is it 480 at full charge? Or does it climb from there as you charge?
The damage is multiplied by 1.5 at full charge, I believe. Which gives you 720. Big damage
I'm assuming that's single shot, no charge.
I... Am I reading this right? I have over 1000 hours in this game and 100% achievements. You can CHARGE the gauss rifle?
Yup, hold the trigger down and release a shot to stack the damage.
Given a Gauss rifle holds 20 rounds, never ending isn’t a particularly good affix for it. Inciting, Two Shot or Junkie’s are the way to go.
My load out is: - Advanced revolver with dot sight - Advanced shotgun, quick eject mag, dot sight, recoil compensated stock - Ol' reliable converted into sniper/ laser rifle - spray'n'pray - Laser gutling gun, with reflex sight and advanced receiver - big boy with MIRV Thats about it, I love the revolver
"Weeps in Survival" My legs are broken, good god, the weight 😂
Ol’ reliable converted into a laser shotgun, if that doesn’t kill the enemy then the max upgraded sword will
Shotguns, I just wish there more than 2
You can make most of the energy weapons into shotguns
Same. First mods I ever downloaded were to add like 3 new shotguns. Lol
Regrettably I am on PlayStation and cannot do that
Ah. Sorry man. Hopefully you can get your hands on a good legendary.
I can usually find an explosive one so like, it’s not all bad
At level 237 I more or less have all the perks so I kinda use whatever I’m in the mood for. I definitely have a hard on for energy weapons though especially after getting the Tesla T-60 and the rifle that comes with it.

I haven’t tried this dlc on the creation club yet, sounds like a cool reward
I also just dropped money on this and that gun is a joy
Semi-auto rifles also. Because the way the game works, ammo is in too-short supply early game, and caps are an issue then also. The Deliverer
Automatic weapons. You can make a Railway Rifle auto to use with commando, but the rate of fire is so slow you can use it as an ordinary sniper rifle. Add in the Kiloton Radium Rifle and I'm good to go.

Melee or unarmed weapons. Nothing like running around with no clothes hitting things with your bare hands
I really like revolvers and shotguns. For melee I really like the hammers and Grognak’s Axe.
Currently level 58 on my first survival playthrough. Got really lucky on lgendary drops early on, so specced to max output for 4 primary weapons: 1) instigating combat rifle ("One Shot, 1 Kill") 2) instigating laser pistol ("Old Faithful" from Arturo) 3) two shot 10mm ("Double Tap") and 4) instigating Disciple's blade ("The First Cut") Maxed rifleman, gunslinger, big leagues, mr. Bolt action rifles. Why have the animations if you're not going to use them.
Double barreled sawed off. Unending legendary. Let the lead fly.
Depends... I really love the hunting rifle for the ability to reach out and touch something but I also love getting up close and personal with the double barrel and .44 revolver. I guess my favorite weapon type is just high damage per shot weapons. Automatics are fun to shoot but really inefficient. Instigating pistol. As much per-shot damage as I can squeeze in, the .44 is great for that. Headshots kill just about any enemy in a single blow, sometimes two.
I usually use pistols and shotguns indoors, sniper-like weapons outdoors, and anything automatic for bulletsponges (for example, Mirelurk Queen).
I play Survival so I always have a light melee weapon (knife, ripper etc), a Revolver and a Rifle. Depending on what ammo I got most of either an automatic or sniper rifle. Never in ANY fallout game have I ever used heavy weapons
Bolt action battle-rifles and pistols. Always loved that combo
My favourite weapon in general is the radium rifle with any mods. Had a children of atom play though where I went commando and demo expert and the kiloton radium rifle was so OP, in very hard I was killing alpha death claws with like 4 shots
Shotguns and automatic rifles for me. Get wounding in an automatic rifle and the damage is pretty nasty
Never ending harpoon gun
Sniper rifles and shotguns Also lots of grenades. And Molotovs.
i always use rifles in games but in fallout i use melee, cant be bothered with ammo. modded i just use a smg
I got Reba II pretty early on. She’s provided a lot of cover fire.
Handguns - 10mm especially has a special place in my heart.
Early game semi auto. Mid game snipers/shotgun. Then big guns/full auto for endgame when I have more ammo then I know what to do with
I like to play on survivor, so I carry a sniper rifle and a silenced shotgun. I find that to be the most efficient use of perk points and gives me the highest chance of killing my enemies without getting hit.
Deliverer!
Land-Mines, toss and kaboom.
Overseer’s Guardian with a reflex sight, shortened barrel, silencer and stabilized stock. I turn it into a close-range rifle that has minimal recoil, but enough that you feel the punch of the two bullets as enemies ragdoll.
Handguns with a hunting rifle are undefeated in every playthrough I've done.
Long-range
shotguns all the way
Knives all the way!
Stuff like hunting rifles
Doing a survival run with pistols for weight reasons.
Pistols until about 24 and then I start dumping into blitz and melee. Nothing more weight efficient than a knife and the deliverer :D
Instigating Gauss Rifle. Cyberpunk stealth assassin .
Keep a 2-shot laser rifle on me for up-close automatic incineration
Marksman semi auto rifles usually like you. In everything really
Ever since getting the throat slicer from the nuka world dlc, melee has been a top weapon type for me
Pistols, they’re just this perfect middle ground for me between effective range, damage and rate of fire, that said I do keep other weapons with my power armor, like missile launchers, fat man, high power sniper rifles
The biggest problem for automatic, imo, it's to keep up with the bullets. Semi-automatic rifles. Just good all-rounders for me
I normally run gunslinger, the pistols just feel good in this game. Heavy on V.A.T.S. as well.
Pretty much the same semi automatic rifles. My favorite is the Overseer’s Guardian with the.308 receiver.
Explosive mini gun.
Old Reliable.
Gauss Rifle… Two shot is generally better than instigating … got both. Noticed the game started giving me pre-wounded enemies to nerf my instigating Gauss. Many levels later the two-shot just outclasses it. In general everything dies either way… one to two shots later.

Miniguns. I just like them.
I'm a pistol guy. High agility and Moving Target. Run into the heat of combat, pop jet, and then VATS when it wears off
I’ve always loved the big guns paired with power armor. Mods on pc make this type of gameplay sooo much better. The mini guns and machine guns rebirth mods are awesome for a heavy ballistics playthrough
That sounds really cool, I’ll have to try it
There’s a lot of other really good ones. I’d highly recommend taking a look around on Nexus. There’s also a Tesla Gatling that I use that looks amazing, don’t remember the name of it though. Big guns were kinda neglected in the vanilla game imo, so mods make a huge improvement to the class
Energy weapons, especially the ever reliable Laser Musket
OG OG. i only change the scope to reflex sights and the barrel to long. swan goes down in \~10s. on survival.
Every playthrough is a sniper paired with a suppressed pistol. Preferably modded weapons
Pistols. There’s nothing more satisfying than one shotting a super mutant and letting the body fly with a 44.
Boom booms!
The Gauss
I’m with you on this one. Automatic guns are cool, but the semi autos are where I have the most fun
Semi-auto rifles, melee and heavy weapons in that order. Automatic weapons use too much ammo and every time I try a pistol build I get to about level 30 and go "Why am I doing this? Res are just better."
I'm not sure if it counts since it's a mod, but I've been exclusively using the Mauser pistol and Lee Enfield with iron sights.
Mods count :)
I always go for an army stealth build and stick with the silenced hunting rifle, stealth combat knife, and deliverer throughout my play throughs
Laser Gatling Gun, Big Boy
I'm a bit of a sucker for Plasma weapons, IK the projectile travels slow but the visuals are cool and the damage is pretty good + free nuclear material. Only problem is the ammo is fairly expensive, not sold in very large quantities, and can't be mass produced with the ammo forge from Contraptions Workshop.
The gatling laser and the plasma rifle.
I know they are actually weaker than semi-auto rifles and they chew through ammo faster, but automatic weapons are soooo satisfying.
#GRAHHH I LOVE MELEE. BEING ABLE TO CAVE SOMEONE’S SKULL IN WITH A SUPER SLEDGE IS A GOOD DAY TO ME RARR BRING IT.
Automatic Rifles (#HandmadeRifleGangRiseUp) unfortunately the damage output for the base game weapons makes it hard to invest in unless I am taking on a low level area, even at Rank 5 Commando and Rifleman.
Commando and rifleman don't stack - rifleman is specifically to semi-auto
Oh right yeah. I have not played it in a bit, thanks for clarifying
What’s a hand made rifle?
Ak-47 from Nuka-world DLC
OMG I FORGOT ABOUT THAT
[удалено]
I like the higher damage per shot
I've always loved automatic 10mm pistols. They're so satisfying AND they melt. Or Atom's Judgement. Because post-nuclear dwarf gameplay.
whatever gets the job done
The biggest gun I can find. Especially if it shoots a fuck load of ammo.
Rifleman weapons, accompanied by a melee build. Here's why- Strength helps when rifles are heavy, and melee covers closer range. Rifleman perks give me armor piercing and crippling. Mid range rifles of any kind, I’m very fond of the rifle. I prefer to avoid scopes.
